This bowling alley is like most bowling alleys, nothing too impressive but for a fun night out this place is fine. However, on a Friday night not much excitement in the alley, it was pretty dead around 10 o'clock and not to much on the music front. Overall, I had a fine time.

Don’t let the unwelcoming exterior fool you, this place is a great bowling alley and a whole lot more. It was renovated in mid 2018 and the place looks fantastic! Carpets are clean, chairs are comfy and working. They’ve got state-of-the-art bowling lanes, and tons of them! The food is better-than-average bar fare and the drink prices are very reasonable. The bowling prices are good, although I feel they gouge you a bit on the shoe rentals which can be a turn-off to casual bowlers. Still, it’s the cleanest, most pleasant bowling alley I’ve ever been to.

While on a trip to Wisconsin in August 2017, I visited these lanes on multiple occasions during my week-long stay! Everything but the prices were great! I believe I spent a grand total of $150 on games here over a 3-day period, and that simply is too much. Where I live in Henderson, NV, I can Bowl for almost 3-times less than that, and if this place lowered their prices on bowling, they would get a 5-Stars in my book!

Friendly staff. Came here on a Sunday morning and there were only two lanes (out of 24) in use. It was great. Also, Great pinball selection. The newest (and most expensive games) are out by the lanes. The older ones that cost only a quarter per game are in the bar.

I have to say I liked the lanes, I liked the layout, plus the seating and equipment is all vintage 70's, which you dont find much of nowadays, but when I remember bowling with my family as a kid, bowling alleys almost always had a 70's motif. Staff was fairly helpful, although getting a drink while bowling was a little difficult, bar tender on the lane side was MIA. I'd really love to give this place a 5 star review just because I enjoyed the atmosphere and the lanes. HOWEVER While playing there the ball return took a few small nicks out of my brand new ball, it also chewed up the fingertips a bit and scuffed up the jacket quite a bit. I had to switch to an old ball, I was afraid of having some serious chips taken out of my ball.

They lost the bowling alleys in some recent flooding, but the bar service and pub food are still great. Friendly staff that makes everyone feel like a regular. Wednesday night free poker tournament is also really cool.

Place is a lot of fun. Not the nicest or cleanest but I don't go to bowling alleys for nice or clean so it's just right. Not too expensive, fun atmosphere, pretty good (average tasty) bar food all things considered. Good place to just relive some stress and knock down a few pins.

After being an off-again on-again regular of Schwoegler's I won't be back again. I used to go to Schwoegler's because they had some pretty decent bowling specials during the week, and karaoke on weekends wasn't terrible. The food wasn't anything special but it was edible. To give you background on myself, I've lived in Madison most of my life, I'm not a drinker, I've worked in the service industry for many years and in general I try to overdress when I go out but during the following experience I was just wearing jeans and a clean t-shirt. After a year of not visiting Schwoegler's mostly because I moved out of the area I went back recently for a karaoke night with a friend. We arrived a little bit after 10pm and we were hoping to pick out a song and then grab some drinks. I am in my early 30s and look like it but we were both carded at the door, which isn't a big deal at all. We sat down at a table trying to pick a song out and were spoken to loudly by a younger female bartender who asked to see our IDs. We showed her our IDs again, told her we had already been carded at the door and she sort of apologized. I said it was fine. We went back to try and figure out what songs we were going to sing. Less than a few minutes later (I know the time because during this whole interaction we didn't even make it through hearing a full-karaoke songs) an older bald man came up to our table to ask us if we were ordering anything, to which my friend said not yet, and the older man immediately raised his voice and said if we weren't going to order anything he was going to kick us out for loitering. I said we were going to order something after we picked out a song, but that clearly our business wasn't wanted. We were quietly keeping to ourselves, and I am clueless by what could have provoked the man working there (who wasn't one of the security guards) to threaten us with loitering. I am a hispanic male who generally passes for white, I was dressed in simple clothes (jeans and a t-shirt) and my friend and I were just talking quietly at a bar table. I've never had such a terrible experience at a bar and will never come back to Schwoegler's, which disappoints me because previously I had a lot of fun memories here. Can no longer recommend.

We had our employee holiday party (in January) at Schwoegler's and had a blast. We had the pizza and salad buffet, which they set up by our lanes and let us bring in cake. The food was far better than it had any right to be, and the service team was responsive; you wouldn't think a bowling alley would be so proficient at hosting a small banquet, but they acted like they do it all the time. The kids had pizza and bowling, the adults had the football game and the bar- I felt compelled to write a positive review because they deserve some sort of recognition. Good job!

Bar food is good for bar food. Bowling is good. Don’t come for drinks and karaoke - service is fair at best and karaoke DJs don’t prioritize new singers, so unless you plan your night around this you are paying overpriced bowling alley drinks to watch drunk baby boomers wreck 60s tunes. It’s not pretty. Also watch out for bartenders stealing your cash, give a 20 and get change for a 10. It’s that kind of place. The place is guarded by 2 sheriffs deputies because it requires multiple fat man oversight to expense your drink bill - safe travels, they will be eating cheese curds on your way out.

I visit this bowling alley on a monthly basis, as I have a large group that always meets here. If you're looking for a fun, cozy, family-friendly bowling atmosphere, this is a place to get it. Other things to note, the shoes are clean, the staff nice, and the food is good. They also offer cosmic bowling at night, karaoke, and a separate bar area (if you're into that sort of thing).

As of Summer 2018 they have 14 great pinball machines. This is mainly what I came for. The games are GREAT and play perfect. When I was there they had a good taco special and drinks were cheap and a nice pour. I will be back again.

I was there tonight we ordered onion rings they came out burnt ask for chopped onions on the wrap the bartender wrote it down it was not that busy and we are there at 9:30 there's like five people in the bar they don't have leagues it was ridiculous

I visited this bowling alley with my small children. Everything was great EXCEPT 1) The prices for children are samr as adult. That is ridiculous. There should be a lower price or better yet kids 3 and under free. 2) For 1 game with 2 adults and 3 kids $40. That is OUTRAGEOUS. You need to offer more coupon deals or package deals for families. We were only given 2 options pay as we go or a $12 rate for 2 hours/2 3) I understand outside food is an issue, but some families do have serious food allergies as ours does. I always have my kids bring their own safe food in case we are not sure. I was told we needed to put it away that even if they have food allergies. this is wrong and treading a very thing safety line. I always have our emergency EPI Pen and inhalers. But most placed are understanding and NEVER give us a hard tine even restaurants. For the 3rd reason we will be going to other places or maybe even Ten Pin as they have allowed us in past with no issues.

Recently, I've been going once a month for a group event, and it's been a blast. The lanes are rather new because of flooding, so it's all in great condition. After 9 or so, they turn off the house lights and turn on blacklights, making some balls, fixtures and lines on the lanes glow. Really cool!

Would you believe I had my 3 year old birthday party here? It was great and the kids had so much fun with the dragon ball roller. The parents could get cold beers and have pizza. It was fun for all. When not with the kids, the karaoke was a hit with my coworkers. It was laid back and so fun.

Bowled city tournament at Parktowne on 1/17/15. The pits and ball returns are very dirty. My ball kept coming back covered with black gunk. Otherwise, the shot was good, and the rest of the experience (food,drinks,service,etc) was fine. Clean up those back ends!
