Old school! Very fun, tactile, harder than it looks, completely different than the bowling I'm used to, pencil and paper scoring. Lots of laughing and smiling and people having a good time. A couple of games and a cheap beer made for an enjoyable evening. Not far from downtown Boston. Highly recommended for a casual good time.

Fun place to burn some time! Nothing is erotic and drinks are reasonably priced

Matthew McLean

Great bowling location. Staff is very friendly. I love how you can order a beer right at the counter where you pay for your games. Always enjoy coming here as long as theres no league.

I can understand the day before Memorial Day for it not to be open, but there was no sign on their door, website, or calendar that the place was closed. It said open on Google hours. Recommend calling before going. A shame as it looked really fun.

Heard this was a must while visiting Boston. Had a blast but not quite ready for pro league.

A truly hidden gem in Southie

It's a dive back into the "dirty old boston"; makes you feel you've gone back in time to the Southie of the 80s: Irish, blue collar and rough. This place is old but comes accross as retro/vintage and feels good. Also, there's rarely a wait for a lane, although the place gets busy at times.

We had so much fun at this place. It looks straight out of 1960s which makes for a very unique experience. What we were surprised by is the size of the ball. It is not a regular bowling place that you are most likely used to. The bowling ball is much smaller and the pins look like... candles. You pay $25 per hour of play and $2.50 for bowling shoes which was a very good deal for the amount of fun we had.

Fun local spot for candlepin bowling. The kids loved it, and it was easy to reserve lanes online!

Old school candlepin bowling. They serve beer and wine have all three pro games on the tvs and the price is good

John Burke

Great fun. If in Southie, go play

Stephanie Cummings

I really like it here. It's a divey bar, local hangout spot. No thrills or frills. Just some candlepin bowling and cheap beers. Bowling can get pricey but its always a fun way to kill a couple of hours. It does get super busy though on the weekends and Friday night so get there early or be prepared to wait.

What a place! Super cool vintage feel and lots of TVs with sports games on if you're into that. Come here and experience a fun and unique part of Boston's culture.

Had the place to ourselves on Saturday early afternoon with several lanes reserved. One lane was not level, so the balls would always roll off to one side, and another would not reset the pins when the button was pushed. However, the manager let us choose another lane to avoid the broken one, so we still had a good time, and he let us finish out our game after our time slot had ended. There was enough beer on tap to please the adults and a few arcade games to please the kids. The place is a bit hard to see/enter from the street, and it's pretty old school with no electronics at all on the lanes, but if you're looking for some classic candle pin fun without all the glitz and noise of Jillian's or Kings, this would be a good, affordable option for a group activity.

Great affordable birthday party option for kids.

Cool and old-fashion. The staff were also quite friendly.

This place has candlepin bowling and cheap beers. It was empty on the weekday afternoon when we visited. All scoring is done with paper and pencil so it's best for people who are already familiar with how the game is scored.

The heart of South Boston. Now, would I recommend eating here... absolutely not. But if you're looking for a fun time with friends, beers, and a few strikes, I would absolutely recommend checking out South Boston Candlepin.

Super retro, with very few modern updates (which I liked). Service was dodgy, as the only employee there on a Wednesday night was on his cell phone the entire time our group was there (2-3 hours!). Fun spot, decent deals on bowling and beers

I never knew they had a bowling alley in Southie, let alone candlepin bowling. It is a vintage spot and great place to hang out with friends/family.
