Went just to bowl with the wife and kids and discovered their FOOD is really quite good! You might not want to eat AND bowl at the same time though since you pay by-the -hour rather than by-the-game. Great selection of beers too!

The name is very deceiving. This is less an alley with a bar - and more a bar with a few lanes. It's a great location for large pay-per-view and Major League Sports. They have a horrible policy of allowing you to check into lanes and then leave the premise as long as you stay on the peninsula. This makes the weight for a lane on the weekends reach up to a couple hours wait. This is definitely a place to go and drink and get food elsewhere. While having all the standard bar food offerings, they don't stand out in any way.

If you’re reading reviews trying to figure out where to go - stop reading and come here. It’s pretty great.

Um...well...finding somewhere apt to watch the NHL playoffs in Charleston seemed to be like looking for a needle in a haystack so we were elated to find this place! Huge TV's too for your game viewing pleasure. They had a killer Happy Hour. PS -... they also have bowling! Def want to check out one of their Fantasy Football parties soon.

Bowling is good, but rest of the experience was quite mediocre. Hoops machines don't work well, balls are deflated and get stuck constantly. Skee ball machine is.... Disgusting... Arcade selection is poor. Also only have angry orchard for cider choices when there are great local options they could be serving. Will not be back anytime soon.

This place is horrible. The drinks are super expensive, and the food isn't great. The wait is too long for bowling and I waited three hours to bowl just to be told that we had to wait until 11 after being told to wait until 9 prior. The manager is disrespectful, and wouldn't help us out all. I would not recommend the place.

This place is so much fun! Giving me all the retro feels. It is not only a bowling alley, as the name clearly states. It is also an arcade. I am talking, retro-90s, good-'ol-days, terrible-graphics, arcade games. It is a great place to wind down, play some quarter and two quarter games, while grabbing some food. Kitchen closes late-ish so it is a great place to stop by after hanging out for a while.

There are gangsters that sit in parked cars in front of The Alley. It's super sketchy. Beware. A friend of mine got beaten up by three of them. One of them was a bartender at the alley that served him drinks. He ended up in the hospital because of a knockout punch from one of the gangsters. They left before the cops arrived.

This place was the highlight of our babymoon I. Charelston. It was a little bit on the pricey side. But the retro feel was executed perfectly including the music. Very friendly staff. Large bar. There wasn't too. Many lanes so I could imagine there is a wait at peak times. There was no wait for us o a Sunday evening.

Waited to bowl for over 2 hours, spent $$ on food, drinks and games and NEVER got to bowl. Ridiculous. We were told there would be an hour and a half wait which was fine, but then we were told it would be another hour to bowl after the initial time. Crazy. They should maybe learn to schedule better. Won’t be back.

This place was awesome. I had a great time bowling here. I was with a big group and we were occupying two lanes. It was easy to get tons of beer served to us as well as shots. One of the more fun things I've done in Charleston. Definitely worth booking a lane if you have time. Didn't eat here but it looked ok.

My husband and I sat here with our friends for 2 hours after calling and walking up to the bowling counter asking to bowl. She said 9pm. We spent over $100 on food & drink, only to be told that we couldn’t bowl until after 11pm. We got here at 6pm and called before that. We kindly asked to speak to the manager, who was incredibly rude saying that IT WAS OUR FAULT that we didn’t leave a name and number to the bowling receptionist. How were we supposed to do that when she didn’t even ask for it?!! Do NOT eat here planning to bowl and pay for outrageously drink prices UNLESS you give your number to a receptionist who DOESNT ask for it. DO NOT COME HERE. WASTE OF MONEY.

I normally love this place, just be sure to call ahead and make sure the bowling alley is open, last time we called and they were open however they forgot to inform us the actual bowling alley was closed till midnight for a league game. But other than that this place is great

Great place for drinks and bowling. There is typically a wait since there are only so many lanes, but it's worth it. In the meantime, you can play some arcade games or watch some football on the big screen.

Great food (appetizers were great), waffle and pulled pork sliders was awesome. Bruschetta/avocado toast also really good. Food was out within 5 minutes. Staff awesome. Games were fun, they have off road racer, use the blue or red truck, yellow steering wheel doesn't work.

I am a vegan and they have an absolutely amazing vegan black bean quinoa sandwich. Of course the bowling was fun too. I was with a group so I don't know about pricing. But I am beyond pleased with the vegan option.

Staff was really helpful, there are alot of games and entertainment options. They have three pinball machines including the new monster bash and iron maiden. The pinball games were $1 per game or 3 balls. The bartender was friendly and helpful as well. Also, the location is super convenient to King street.

Edit: went from 2 stars to 4 stars due to the general manager reaching out to me about my concerns. They do close the lanes at 1 due to maintenance, just wish they put it in the website. We will go again, but earlier and will edit as necessary. Original: My husband and I came here to bowl on a Tuesday night. It's obviously a bit busier since there is the $2 bowl special. I had never been here before, and since we didn't know, we showed up a bit late. We arrived at 10.45 and they told us there was a wait. We figured, well it's normal, we waited until 12.15 to start bowling. We paid for two games since the lady wouldn't let us pay for more than two. Reminder, it's just two of us. We played the two games and at 12.40 we go ask for 2 more games, to which she tells us no because that was the last game because they are closing the lanes. I asked her why since they are open until two. She turned to me and said that it's only the bar. The lanes are only open until 1. We waited an hour and a half to play for less than 30 minutes! If I would've known we wouldn't have stayed!!! Nowhere in their website is this announced and I feel robbed of my time and angry since it was my husband's and mines only date night in the month. On the pros of this place, the bar is pretty nice and they have a ping pong table on the outside, which we used to occupy our time.

Fun selection of retro video games, pinball, and skeeball. Bowling alley is small and can be hard to get a lane on busy nights. Good number and location of TVs for game watching. Food is very average (but ok for bar fare) and I am not a fan of their tater tots over french fries hard-line stance. Wish the arcade section was larger as well.

I arrived at the Alley this morning at 11am when advertised opening was scheduled. I was greeted by a sign that read there would be a delay in opening until 12 due to the weather. While standing in the lobby trying to make alternate plans with the rest of my group I had contact with about 4 Alley employees all who informed me they were not open til 12. I returned at 11:55 with my two year old and a friend who had 3 children with her. We were then informed that all lanes were booked until 4:30 (This could have been disclosed when I was standing in the lobby an hour earlier). We asked if there was a way we could wait if there was a cancelation and were told no all reservations were confirmed. At 12:15 only one lane was in use. At 12:30 three lanes were in use. The young children would have been done bowling if we had been permitted to start at 12 and leave when the reserved parties arrived. The children played arcade games and finally around 12:30 we sat to eat. It took over an hour for our food to arrive (including appetizers). It was overall a very disappointing experience that lacked any kind of customer service

The Alley is an original and local spot Charleston is lucky to have. Everything about this place is so well done. The room is spacious, comfortable, and full of things to do. Staff is always friendly and attentive. The Alley recently hosted a group event for me and I was blown away by the Alley's event planner Lucy McNerney. Her professionalism and attention to detail was truly on another level. Every request I had was taken care of perfectly and she did everything was such a friendly attitude. If you are looking for a place with fun activities (bowling, arcade games), killer food, and the biggest TV's in town, The Alley is a no brainer.

Great place to watch a football game or just have dinner or play video games or, of course go bowling. The wait staff here are great and keep up with you. Saturday night was fun and didn't even need a reservation for a bowling lane.

I have gone on Tuesday's at 9:00 p.m. for the $2 per game bowling with no problems. I am usually in and out in 30 minutes. Tonight I got there a few minutes after 9:00pm and was told its an hour and half wait. The funny thing is half the lanes were open. The food has been mediocre my past few trips also. The service is a little conceited as well. The staff is too busy having social hour rather than actually serving. The bartender Rose did not know how to make a whiskey fizz either. I want to like this place more but its always lacking. Luckily they have 2 good pinball machines right now.
