Perch was great just like in the past but the slaw and cabbage & noodle seemed to change for the worst. Not a toddler friendly place! They don't have kids cups, be sure to bring your own! They we're also out if milk!

Fish Fry Fridays are the best. Very busy some nights (especially during Lent) so be prepared to wait a couple minutes but it's very worth the wait. Great fish and fries, goos coleslaw. Servers are friendly and efficient. Drink prices are great too. The rest of the menu looks awesome (and very reasonably priced) but we haven't gotten there to try it all out.

Somw friends told us about the American Slovak Club's weekly fish fry. I had not been back to Lorain, OH since 1968. The ASC is clearly visible from Broadway Ave. It has a large, well lit parking lot. We arrived about 4:30 P.M. and were able to be seated right away. Coleslaw, bread and butter, coffee, tea and water were included in all meals. I tried rhe fish dinner. I got three full fillets of lake perch and French fries. Absolutely delicious. My wife got shrimp and fries as well as one stuffed cabbage. Very good as well. Bud light on draught was only $1.50 each. Service was quick and aplomb. Highly recommend it.

Have visited this club for lake Erie perch almost all my life. Feels down to Earth, a bar along one side doesn't overly dominate. Family friendly, little old ladies doing the serving. Simple midwestern culture. A definite must-do meal if you have political aspirations, seeking to observe lent or just want a good meal at a great price.

I drive from Toledo to do business in Lorain and never miss stopping here for the perch dinners. I usually take two 1 pound dinners home with me as they are the best. Love the stuffed cabbage as well when perch is out if season. Never miss it

My family went for a fish fry on a Friday night during Lent. It was pretty crowded, but the wait was worth it! The Lake Erie perch was awesome and they have plenty of sides so you won't go home hungry. They also sell fresh nut and apricot rolls to take home or eat as dessert!

Honestly if my grandparents had not taken me for dinner I never knew this place existed. However I am extremely happy they did. I don't know if any of you have ever been to an older bar that is no longer open named Gibby's but if you have you know where this is going. Gibby's had the best perch out of anywhere period. American Slovak in their own right has fish on that level. It lightly breaded and fried perfectly. The shrimp is to die for and the family friendly atmosphere and extremely fast turn around times makes this a Friday night staple.

American Slovak Club is a private club requiring membership to be served. My companion joined and we proceeded to enjoy a beer. The fellow patrons were very friendly and talkative. The wait staff was very efficient and friendly. We will visit more often in the future.
