This Bowling Alley belongs to the category of Bowling alley.
Super old school. Super bowling alley feel. I’m from the south and this place made me think of my favorite bowling alley from middle and high school. Affordable unlike the other over over priced bowling alleys around and in nyc (Of course). Had fun and the people/workers were super cool and friendly.
Glad to have these bowling lanes still close enough to home. Good environment.
A wide range of shoe sizes. They have a separate bar in the premises which also makes food. At the entrance there's also a few arcade games that you can play if you're not bowling at the time.
You get all what they offer!
Nice service, clean environment, 24 lanes over two floors.
Either the people who wrote the old reviews are morons or the owners have done a ton of updates since 7 months ago. House balls were some of the nicest I have ever used. We have our own shoes so can't comment on them. The TVs and the bowling software were pretty new also. Seating area for the lanes could use more seats but space is limited. Can park in CVS lot which is nice too. $2-4 depending on when you go.
I enjoy it. You can come with your Family , Parties; Friends , co workers and Bowl. Arcade even If you Play Games! If you are 21 and over. You can play pool and have drinks , have some Fun.
It's busy today on weekends it's common anywhere so nice.
Needs renovations
Bowl rite was a classic bowling alley. Well maintained lanes. Classic jersey decor. We had a birthday party for our daughter. We bought package deal for 2 hours. The staff worked hard to please. I recommend the place.
Family fun place
Great shoes. Sticky balls. Really low cost compared to the ones in Manhattan.
Looks more inviting they added new coat of paint and lighting is way better.
Just was great
Went on a Sunday night and it was pretty packed but we didn't wait long for a lane. The lanes are well maintained, didn't have any issues with the pins resetting. We'll definitely come back. The staircase wasn't as sketchy as people say but it is narrow.
Absolutely awesome bowling alley, great place for the family! The bar is always a great time!
Staff is good. Environment is friendly. Around 20 bowling lanes over there.
Good for the price, food service is slow
This place is great. The only downside being that the owner is a cowboys fan, besides that A+.
I went there on a whim and it was not a great experience. The entrance and the stairwell leading up to the bowling had a septic smell and for some reason the walls were glistening with who knows what. Inside, the arcade games all had malfunctions (second player does not work, first player cannot move left, that sort of thing) The bowling might be fine, but overall the vibe in there was kind of sad and decaying. Considering the smells and the general level of cleanliness in there, I did not feel safe eating the food in there. I went in looking for fun and left feeling sad. Sort of astonished it is still operational. Would not recommend.
It was normal
Family friendly and fun.
Good place I've been bowling here since i was a kid
Went there for a birthday invitation. Place is nice for bowling, but it needs maintenance. The entrance looks ugly. The service is good. The employees are very nice and helpful. I gave the place 3 stars because they need to do better maintenance. Otherwise it will be 5 stars...
Location not great esp entrance. Not well kept lanes. Decent place though.
Very affordable. Little old shoes and bit unclean.
Threw me back to the 70's. Very basic, but the staff is kind and helpful and the place is very clean
Super old school. Super bowling alley feel. I’m from the south and this place made me think of my favorite bowling alley from middle and high school. Affordable unlike the other over over priced bowling alleys around and in nyc (Of course). Had fun and the people/workers were super cool and friendly.
My kids liked the place and the food. Not too pricey
Great old school spot with a fun bar and some snacks.
Very reasonable rates! Parking is easy especially being in big city. Food and drinks are good. Needs a little maintenance but its great place.
Small and family friendly. Inexpensive and a great time. Staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. Only issue was parking.
Lots of fun
Glad to have these bowling lanes still close enough to home. Good environment.
3$ game. That's really great
Good time
They don't their customers right. We spent $260 across 5 people and they asked us to share shoes?? Also we wanted to order fries for $9 and they wouldn't let us because of a $10 minimum. Very unfriendly
Really affordable and the lanes are good too
Went here for a birthday party and had a blast! The upper section is used for the private parties and it works well. Feels private and not invaded/distracted by other bowlers/bowling groups. Seems well run with a friendly and good staff. Enjoyed the event and flow; wish it had been longer we were all having so much fun! It's not the most modern or beautiful bowling alley we've ever been to but it's a nice, local gem that's for sure!
Love the place. It's like we are all family. Great place.
Been coming here since I was a kid! It's a local bowling alley, so don't come with high expectations. Excellent prices on drinks, games, and snack bar items (greasy bar food, yum)!
My wife an I moved to the neighborhood a year ago. I like to bowl and would love to have date nights at a bowling alley. I had no idea this place was so close to our house, I never thought to look either. I happened to go to the CVS around the corner and saw the sign. I looked up the place and it looked like a solid bowling alley. When we came it was a classic venue with a unique setup. What was amazing were the prices! A fun night on a budget!
Best place everrrr!!! Love me some bowlrite lanes! Workers are amazing! Always a great time coming here.. Food is on point and so are the prices!! Love this place
Good spot to go with friends and family. And it is really cheap
A little old and outdated but you can still have fun
A nice local spot with very friendly staff. Bowling games are really cheap ($3 for shoe rental, $4/game on a weekend night) and they have a bar area with cheap drinks ($4 beers on a weekend night). Venue may look sketchy because of the stairs you have to go up, but that's the only downside. The actual lanes and place are clean and in working order, and otherwise it's not sketch at all. Location is extremely convenient right outside of coach house diner near Kennedy Boulevard.
Not a very good experience as the bowling lane had to be reset multiple times since the pin were falling down multiple times. It was very annoying when the score keeping is not done properly and everytime you reset thee machine also gets confused whose chance it is or is it the first or the second chance. I am giving 2 star only because the staff is good and the food is good too. Enjoyed the time at the pool table.
Good vibes
Fun atmosphere. Good staff. The food is typical bar food. Great place to go with friends.
The place could use a little updating.
Good for family get together..
Great service and the food and drinks are good. Exactly what you want at a bowling alley.
Small but fun bowling alley. There are actually two levels of lanes which is something I have never seen before. All of the lanes have automatic scoring. Shoes and balls are available. (Note: if you are not wearing socks, you will be required to purchase a pair...for obvious reasons.) Parking can be a bit tough as there is no attached lot so it is street parking only. The lanes are not easily handicapped accessible as there are steps to either level.
Great for families and friends. Great customer service had an amazing time
Nice bowling alley that is still close to NYC but not as chaotic.
Nice and affordable. Just need a little bit of an upgrade
Nice place to hangout with friends, and pretty cheap too. Well maintained lanes, a few arcade games and good staff. Perfect place to escape boredom...
Great old school bowling alley. Reasonable prices.Go here if you want to bowl. I can't stand all the new boutique bowling alleys that are popping up that charge way too much
Cool guys at front desk, fast service. :)
Wack
My wife an I moved to the neighborhood a year ago. I like to bowl and would love to have date nights at a bowling alley. Has several lanes. The food and drinks are cheap as well
Greatest players and people
Not well maintained. Very racist receptionist
This place looks like a hole in the wall when you first walk in, but the alleys are in great condition. There are two floors of bowling alleys, a few arcade games and a pool table. The place is family friendly and good for friends. It definitely has a vintage feel, but that is part of the charm.
Not bad actually.
Had a great time, great place to have fun at
We had the best time
Quite a shady entrance with interiors that continue to extend that first perception. If you are desperate to bowl, I guess you can give this a shot.
Wonderful experience here! Lanes are great!
Best place everrrr!!! Love me some bowlrite lanes! Workers are amazing! Always a great time coming here.. Food is on point and so are the prices!! Love this place
Shows were nasty, I mad she most of it and tried to have as much fun as I can.
Small but serves its purpose
Clean, affordable, and had good service. Went during off hours and they're was only a couple lanes in use. Nate was super friendly and professional.
Good to go and have fun.
Really nice place to go have fun..
Didn't have child ramps, which was disappointing. The game broke down once and our game had to be renewed twice. It's okay for a quick visit.
Great
Very good experience. Staff was friendly, food is delicious.
Fun place. Inexpensive and great for going out with friends
Cheap and fun for a quick game
Fair prices but terrible pizza. Cons8you can't bring outside food, what they sell should taste much better. The place could also use a bit of an update. Looks very old, especially second floor.
Good family fun place, friendly staff, good food as well as adult drinks and arcades for the kids
Nice bowling place with reasonable prices. There are days where they have special deals. The food is average but the staff are pleasant.
The place looks little shady from outside but is great from inside. Love bowling here, better then so many places in New York. Plus they have a snack bar as well. Best place to go and bowl and have a good time!!
Went here for my friend's daughter's birthday party. It was awesome! They have an arcade section and the bowling alley glows in the dark. Pizza, chicken fingers and fries were delicious. The pasta had a weird taste. They also serve drinks ;)
Inside this place very cool atmosphere, huge bar, although the choice is not great. Bowling + karaoke give popularity. I really liked the cozy situation in which I want to relax. Also, a great respect for branded beer and ice cream. Here is a convenient location and working hours. Best place to get fun with a huge company and take part in bowling competition))))
went there for my daughter's classmates birthday party. no thae cleanest, but fine for a weekend fun
Amazing bowling arena, very reasonable too! Must visit!
Best chicken wings
Affordable fun and convenient but needs maintenance and remodeling bc looks to dated
It's a small local place but we had such a nice time. Service is friendly, there was no wait, and their food was decent. Prices reasonable.
Nice place to have fun
Its Expensive also what if your going with family or friends you need to Bring so much mony
Good chicken wings and yummy drinks. Loved the bar tender with the purple hair!
Very friendly staff. Nice place to have fun with the kids
Kind of surprised people don't like this place. It's a great place for a Friday night to hang out with friends. Has arcades and pool tables as well. The place is clean. I have no idea why those people gave such low ratings. I've been to this place for years.
food is dry
Love this Place!!!! Staff is amazing!! Food is sooooo good!! Prices are actually pretty great too!! Must go for family and friends.. Guarantee Great time!
Great place for some family fun.
My brother and I had lots of fun
Had fun with my son here.. Very friendly and helpful staff..
Nice place. If you have party group then it’s a great stop for fun and not expensive
Nice bowling place with reasonable prices. There are days where they have special deals. The food is average but the staff are pleasant.
Nice place to hangout with friends. They have 2 levels of bowling. Few other game options are available.
Been coming here once a week for 3+ years. Great lanes, great staff, and it's crazy affordable. Is it fancy? No, but when you thought "Hey, let's go bowling", did you really also think "This better be fancy"? Also no. If you want to enjoy the actual bowling experience instead of bottle service, you'll LOVE it here. The higher-priced places put more effort into their signature cocktail menu than they put into maintaining the lanes, but not here. These guys care about the game. The lanes are clean, the oil patterns are consistent, and the machines are in good shape. We're not phenomenal bowlers, but thanks to the care put into these lanes, we both seem to bowl better and more consistently here than we do anywhere else... So much so that we actually want to keep getting better at it. We've brought lots of friends and family here, and they always leave feeling like they're suddenly into bowling. This place seems to have that effect. If we are due for a retro bowling renaissance, this place will soon be crawling with people who are more concerned with posting selfies than enjoying the game. Fortunately it's not overrun quite yet. Prices range from $2 to $4 per game depending on the day, and shoe rental is $3. That's a great deal. For comparison, Lucky Strike NYC is between $6 and $13 per person per hour, so if four people are on a lane, you're getting 1 game in per hour. That's literally three times as expensive as Bowl Rite, not to mention the even bigger price differences for food and drinks. There is a snack bar with plenty of not-so-healthy eats. That's not a complaint, it's a compliment. Do you want an artisan Nicoise salad with shaved truffles while bowling? No. Bowling calls for deep-fried jalapeno poppers, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, bacon cheeseburgers and fries, all served on red plastic trays. Portions are generous, prices are low, service is quick and friendly, and diets are irrelevant. All is as it should be. There's a full bar with a good sound system, a pool table, 4 TVs, and SUPER cheap drinks (and yes, there are a few creative cocktails). There is also a mini-arcade up front. We've been here while a kid's birthday party was going on, and they seemed to have that down to a science. The staff were on high alert, quickly taking care of requests from kids and parents. Having two floors is definitely useful- Parties, leagues, and randos like us can all coexist. It's definitely family-friendly, with lane bumpers and colorful dragon ramps. It's mostly teens and older after 9pm, which is when we usually go. There's always a top 40 playlist coming through a good PA system, but never loud enough to prevent conversation. We can't say enough good stuff about the staff. I feel like we are always getting preferential treatment, but we really aren't. They're awesome people who genuinely enjoy helping their customers have fun. Most of them are also insanely good bowlers, and if it's not too busy, they even help us out with some tips. Plus, when they get some free time, they are out there demonstrating some nasty strikes and heckling each other over the PA system. They run a good pro shop, too. We've bought 2 balls and 2 pairs of shoes, and they did a great job recommending gear and drilling the balls for us (thanks Junior, Angel and Jared). Logistics: There is a parking lot but it's shared by neighborhood residents, so you may need a few minutes to find street parking. Like other reviews say, you'd easily miss the door at night because the sign above isn't lit, and the staircase up smells like industrial-strength cleaner. Journey confidently past these obstacles. Take comfort in the Coors Light poster halfway up the stairs- It means you're on the right path. You'll be OK, I promise. This is just how Bowl-Rite maintains its "well-kept secret" status. I've bowled my personal best here, and with the constant good vibes at this place in sure I'll beat it soon. I hope you have half as much fun here as we do.
The place looks little shady from outside but is great from inside. Love bowling here, better then so many places in New York. Plus they have a snack bar as well. Best place to go and bowl and have a good time!!
Lots of fun.
Went here for my friend's daughter's birthday party. It was awesome! They have an arcade section and the bowling alley glows in the dark. Pizza, chicken fingers and fries were delicious. The pasta had a weird taste. They also serve drinks ;)
Good place to hangout. Friendly staff. Many bowling lanes
Awesome place. Very great prices. Great food. They have a small bar area. The kids enjoyed themselves
Affordable nice no frills bowling alley. They have the kiddie bumpers, staff was very nice. Bar opens late
A nice night our bowling alley, nothing fancy - they have a couple of arcade machines and a pool area. They also sell alcohol and comfort food. Overall we had a nice experience even though our machine kept getting stuck. If you're looking for a cheap, nice, close to home option - I would definitely recommend. If you are after something more luxurious then it's probably not the place for you.
Nice place to have bestfriend time
I love this place. I've been coming here since I was little. This is my happy place.
We've been going to bowl rite forever. Staff is friendly and it's one of the few affordable family outtings in Hudson county.
The lanes are okay.. It's a landmark in union city.. We just need better arcade games for when you're waiting for a lane to open up.. But it's a fun place
I joined with a parents' group and was pleased with the ramps shaped like dragons and bumpers for my little guy. The costs were reasonable all around for games, shoe rentals, and concessions. We had a great time!
Lots of lanes, very basic decor, cheap ($4 per player per game on Sunday which is the most expensive time to play, some times such as Monday mornings are as cheap as $2 per player per game.) We had a 30 minute wait. There is a bar (must be I over 21 to enter the bar), cheap food in the main waiting area, and a few arcade games. Had a fun time.
We had my husband's birthday party here and it was a real hit we had a lot of fun bowling. The event was very affordable but they only take one bill! I would definitely recommend this as a venue for a birthday!
If you have $20, you have more than enough to bowl, eat, and get drinks at the bar here. The only issues are the glitches with some of the lanes and the wait time. Other than that, crew nights here are pretty fun.
Not a good experience with it. We asked for a particular lane but they didn't provide us as it was already empty. Some lanes are not working properly. We got lane 3 and it was stopped for atleast 4 times and our game disturbed. Most of the balls are damaged already and steaky.
Super cheap, no frills bowling
Cheap drinks. Pretty clean. Good music. Friendly staff and fellow players. This is my local spot. I love it.
Older looking facility, but it does the job for the kids and adults to bowl, food is pretty good and for the adults, the alcohol is very budget friendly
I love bowling
great service. made you feel at home
Good hangout place to ho with your group.
It is fun and inexpensive place to go with friends or family, especially on rainy days.
It's a nice neighborhood bowling alley, the only one in Union city actually, the staff is very friendly
Very fun atmosphere, great food and a mini bar with pool tables for adults. Family friendly and affordable!
Go there all the time. They take good care of me. The owner is present and always willing to give tips on your game. Drinks and food are at a reasonable price. Great place to bring the family or even just come with friends for drinks and games.
Entertaining, good for family and/or friends. I enjoyed the onion rings and IPAs. The staff is friendly.
Nice place for bowling, not too crowded, but they need to do some maintanes in the place. The entrance gives a bad impression. Service is good and people is really helpful.
Great bang for your buck
There was terrible customer service, the guy was not helpful at all he had a bad attitude toward me and my friends
You get exactly what you are paying for which is an affordable night out bowling. Hasn't been updated in some time but not a big deal when you're actually bowling. Very nice and accommodating staff. Would rate them 5/5 but building brings it down just a smidge.
Solid place for bowling in Jersey city
Although it's not a pretty place the atmosphere is good fun and nice people.
Great food and lots of fun
Great time & very reasonable prices
Bowling Balls are worst here.
Great for family bowling. Inexpensive, friendly staff and all in all a great experience
Small but cozy and prices are just rite
Really cool place to bowl. Always fun
Don't be fooled by its hard-to-spot entrance. The small door on the side of CVS leads you upstairs to a decently sized 2-floor bowling alley. It has decent food for the price, a bar and pool table and over 20+ lanes to bowl on. This is also home to local and independent leagues as well as the surrounding high schools' teams.
Food is great! Awesome place to catch up with friends for weekend!
Favorite spot to bowl since childhood, they have great tasting food with a cool secluded bar, and two floors of bowling awesomeness! Probably going there tonight again
Great bowling for the whole family
Awesome place to party!!
Amazing atmosphere of gritty casual without being intimidating. Almost like a family friendly dive bar. Plus the food is pretty good and everyone just has a lot of fun. There can be a wait on weekends but the have arcade machines and a bar so you can enjoy your wait.
Fun and affordable. Had my daughter's birthday party here and we had a great time for an even better price
We have fun but the food is 1/5
The bowling was fun the people where very friendly and helpful, but the food took to long to come out.
Good bowling alley at reasonable price.
The best place to chill and have some fun and drinks
It's a cool place
Always I'll go with my cousins this place I love this place forever ever
Perfect hangout for folks lookin for weekend activities around Jersey City. I believe this is also the cheapest one around this area...
Good service overall, was not much crowded. Good prices.
Its an alright place to have a fun night with kids or even with just friends.
Bowl Rite's staff is amazing for hosting parties! Sam was my host for my son's 5th birthday and she was so fun and helpful from entering kids names in the game queue to making sure we had enough plates and napkins for the cake. The kids had a blast and my son said it was, "The best day EVER!"
It's a really good place to play bowling the food is ok but the service is awesome
That's the worst place to book a party they are very irresponsible and unprofessional so don't recommend that place.
Lane broke down more than 7 times in same game. Girl working fast food was the worst.
Based on the other reviews, maybe we just went on a bad day. We got there when they first opened and paid for one game. We had our daughter with us and had to repeatedly ask to get her a ball and to put the bumpers up on our lane. We sat waiting for about 20 minutes. Machine we used looked like it was ready to break down. My husband went to get food and some beer at 12pm. He was told that the server was not ready and that the bartender would not be in until 3:30pm. Yes, it was early but there was no notice about having to wait until later times for either food or alcohol. We left after one game. Doubt we will be going back.
Cheapest bowling option. Need to improve on ambiance and quality of lanes.
Good food even if it's a bit expensive
Ghetto cheap and had loads of fun. Discounted price if you go on Sunday before 4 p.m.
Good place to play bowling
