We were there on a Saturday afternoon the same time as a Senior Olympics competition. Signage when you enter is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It was hard to tell if lanes were open or it was closed for a private event. That aside we had a great time. One game of bowling and shoes for 3 people will run you $24. Not to bad.

It's a bowling alley. The staff do a great job they are very attentive . There were a lot of summer camp groups there the Wednesday our group outing occurred and the place did not seem crowded.

I would do a 3.5 if I could. The service is subpar at best. You feel like ok, next now get out the way. I felt like I was that and heard some one talking about the service when asking for darts. You feel as if your a bother . The kitchen was slow and service was dry . Remine of the mother off of the movie Goonies.

Wow, this place brings back a lot of memories. I used to routinely play pool with my friends here when I was a student in Wash-U some 25 years ago. Quite surprised to learn that the place still exist!

Probably the worst bowling experience I have ever had. Giving this one star because no stars is not an option. Not only do you feel claustrophobic from the lanes and seats being so close together but also the lanes had so much oil that balls got stuck after every throw. I went and asked for help and never received it, and looked back and saw the man I talked to chatting with someone else. He even cleaned the table next to us and didn't acknowledge the fact that he didn't do his job. I will never come back even if I am paid to do so. Also our "unlimited bowling" resulted in 2 games for 3 people in 1 hour due to our bowling balls getting stuck. I put my personal ball away to not lose it and to see if it may have been just my ball. Not the case, every ball got stuck. Also every 4th frame the 10 pin fell down. It ate up too much time to reset the pins so we played through it. I heard there were leagues held here and I laughed out loud with disbelief. Not recommended even for kids birthday parties.

Great spot for family entertainment, nights out with friends and work gatherings. There's a bit of something for everyone. Lots of lanes, arcade games, a bar... What more could you ask for. Been here a couple times in the basement rec room, nice open area and Tropicana was very accommodating.

Go there for a Saturday’s night hangout, but the place was super busy. We had to wait for over 1 hour to get a lane. They only allow us to get one lane for 6 people (we asked to split up for 2 lanes but they straight up said: “NO”) for $62/hr with shoes rental. We accepted the deal but during the middle of our game, the pins got stuck and we had to wait over 20 mins for it to reset (we let them know multiple times but the guy that worked on the counter told us that none of us let him know directly, which was completely a lie). Finally, he told us that it was too bad, so we wasted over 20 mins of gameplay to wait for them to reset. That is terrible customer services.

Lots of lanes, has a bar where you can still smoke, and greasy (and delicious) food, it is a quintessential bowling alley. Just go it'll be fun.

Probably the best place in St Louis to bowl! This place is huge and there are many lanes on opposite sides of the building with the bar, concessions, lockers, bathrooms, etc all in the middle. It can get crowded on weekends and in the evenings so be sure to come a little early. There is a variety of crowds that come ranging from high schoolers to seasoned pros and this makes it a lot of fun, too. The bar typically has relatively slow service, but that's not necessarily a bad thing...they are usually just crowded. Some may disagree, but since smoking is allowed in the bar (only in the bar, not elsewhere in the building) it is intensely aggravating and you will come out smelling like smoke and this is the one downfall. All in all, this is a great place and I always look forward to returning!

Have attended a few corporate events there. Not much to complain about. Fairly clean bowling alley, the lanes and computers were functioned quote well. A little older technology is being used, so not as fancy as newer bowling alleys.

A newly redecorated bowling alley, a historic building that looks absolutely stunning with the remodel. Fantastic (of course) for bowling, the food is surprisingly delicious. It exceeded my expectations totally. The music on Saturday nights is very enjoyable. If you've never been to Tropicana lanes, you should go. If you haven't been there in a while you should go there again.

One week, we get a good pricing deal on the bowling for multiple people in my group. The following week, we went back and the cashier had no clue about pricing we had. I even asked the other guy working who checked us out last week, he said he had no clue what we we're talking about. Gonna take my business else where.

Lots of space and friendly staff, once we caught their attention. Looked like they might've been so busy because there were only a few people trying to run the whole place. Clean and well run, prices were what I expected. We will go back for more bowling now that we've tried it out.

There's more to do than just bowling here, you can also play pool and there's a small arcade as well plus they offer a nice selection of foods and they announce your order over the intercom when your food is ready so you don't have to sit and wait for it you can order it and then go bowl or play pool or whatever you're doing while you're there and then they will announce when your food is ready and then you can go and get it. The shoes are all new and very clean and up kept well and there's a nice selection of bowling balls to choose from and everything is fairly cheap as well so overall I would say it's easy to give this place a 5-star rating and I hope your experience will be as good as mine has always been :-)

My son wanted to try bowling. We wound up at Tropicana Lanes. It was Friday night around 6 and we thought it would be ok. It was super crowded. There also were only 3 people working. I had to ask the staff 3 times to put the bumpers up. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old. The only reason they came up to set up the bumpers was because our lane was malfunctioning. There was a pin stuck. I wouldn't order any food because it didn't look that good and the line was long. I also don't think I should pay $10 for a 3 year old that can't even bowl. It will be a while before I go back here. I like Pin-up a lot better.

Low prices, solid lanes and a fun time. Buckets of beer are fairly cheap. The only downside is the staff - very lethargic. It took my girlfriend and I 30 minutes to get shoes and only 2 people in front of us.

Workers there were ok but the food ordering needs a major overhaul, I stood in line for 45mins before I was able to place our order, by that time we were wrapping up our session and so I had to cancel our order soon after placing it...keep in mind I had to leave the line twice when it was my turn to bowl leaving someone else to wait while I went to bowl....so I can't say how the food taste but the wait was horrible. They truly need to fix that!!!

Went here for a family member's birthday party. Our lane always froze, it wouldn't clean pins up, kept bowling balls, or it was doing all three in that order. Despite all that I had good foods and drinks, so it wasn't all that bad.

It's a very traditional alley, been around a long time, but don't look for new updated features. I found the lanes to be very oily, may have just shown up at the wrong time. However, they have 2 sides, it's 2x as large as most bowling alleys and have beer and food. Does the trick.

Tucked off of Brentwood Boulevard and Clayton road, this local staple boasts robust capacity in terms of lanes and parking. When a girlfriend suggested an impromptu bowling get-together, Tropicana was the only place in town that had availability. A few games and pitchers won't break your bank. Staff was courteous and helpful, shoes were clean and not decrepit. A central bar grants an isolated, safe haven for smokers, the girls and I had a wonderful time. Would happily return. Now if only I wasn't such a terrible bowler...

I have participated in a weekly bowling league at Tropicana for almost 3 years. With regards to the previous owners, things were just fine, but the balls and shoes were pretty old. Lanes malfunctioned occasionally, but it got the job done. Over the past few months, new management has taken over the Trop, and I have to say it is a refreshing change of pace. Things run more smoothly, the bar was redone, shoes and balls are new, and employees are engaging and enthusiastic. While the old owners didn't allow it to fall into disrepair, it is clear that new management has taken Trop a bit more seriously. It is a welcome change, and I intend to keep coming back every season. TL;DR - New management has reinvigorated and updated Tropicana Lanes with an energetic atmosphere that keeps me coming back.

Under new mangerment with sky rocket prices. Instead of fixing the lanes for bowling, they over spent for upgrades on the bar. The food selection is not all that great either. Would I recommend this place for a family gathering.....NO. Save your money and find a deal on GROUPON.

We had our Church Christmas Fellowship tonight. It was lots of fun, laughing, games and good food. The accommodation was what we asked for, we had plenty of room. The bathroom were in the same area which made it convenient for everyone. The place was clean and the workers were polite and helpful just an good experience

Overall, there are better lanes if you are a serious bowler. The lanes are improperly oiled. I can happily recommend Olivette Lanes. Go ahead and try both lanes. You will notice a big difference in how the lanes perform.

Great bowling alley. There are several lanes, 26 I believe on each side of the building. You can also play pool there and there is lots of arcade games to play. Good bar food is available for purchase at a good price. They offer several discounts for groups. In the summer you can sign up for their summer bowling for free for kids. All you have to pay for is the shoe rentals. It's also a great place to have a birthday party. Parking is plentiful and free. I find the staff friendly and helpful, they on top of all that offer glow in the dark bowling!!!!

This is a fine place to go with a group, but the actual bowling experience is pretty terrible. The approach area is always way too dry so you cannot slide at all without the shoes just sticking. If the goal is to just have a good time with friends, this is a nice place. But if you want to actually bowl, go anywhere else.

During our recent spring break visit to the city my kid wanted to go bowling to fill some time. We went to Tropicana and it was a decent place. It was slightly pricey for one game of bowling for the 4 of us, $38. Nothing special just another bowling alley.

Love what they've done with the place. The bar looks really cool with the new lights. Went with my son and my husband. It was $5 a game in addition to the cost of shoes which is a really great deal. Thay have sizes for 2 yr olds. They have those things for children to assist with their bowling, as well. My 2 year old really enjoyed himself and we didn't know how it would go at first but it ended up being a really fun outing for the whole family. All the staff were super nice and the bartender can pour a good drink. Also who doesn't love the food at this bowling alley? I think it's better than other places that are actually restaurants.

Expensive for what you get, truly a bizarre blast from the past. The space itself isn't half bad, and I had fun bowling. That said, the management here is a little odd, definitely borderline insulting and facetious at moments, which I thought was somewhat hilarious but could easily be perceived as not friendly at all. The food and drink selection here is about as simple and bland as could be possibly conceived. We were one of about two other groups of people bowling, in an otherwise ghost-town esque venue. There's a lot of places to bowl in STL, and for the price I don't think it's worth going. That said, if it was cheaper I would come here more often. No need to jump in a time capsule, just go here.

It was very enjoyable. A nice mixture of people. Definitely a family friendly place. Cafeteria had some wings. You can't bring food in so don't be afraid to use cafeteria as the food is enjoyable. I didn't try the lounge but it looked nice also. Restrooms were clean. I liked at the little 2 and 3 year olds bowl.

My boyfriend and I called ahead to make sure they would have lanes available. Man on the phone was very rude. Once we arrived, we stood there for 30 minutes with no service before we walked out...wont go back again

My husband took me here to bowl. He wanted to show me the bowling alley he fondly remembered visiting when he was a child. He wanted to show our daughter the awesome arcades he played in, but come to find out they removed them. We ended up just bowling and ordered appetizers. The food was good, typical fried food. The staff was pleasant. I was hoping to get the arcade experience as well, but will settle on bowling closer to home from here on out. We still had an overall pleasant experience.

I love bowling and Tropicana Lanes is my favorite bowling alley! They have clean shoes, affordable prices and many ball size choices. I think they can improve on the food option. The pizzas are pretty small.
