I ordered the Angry Angus burger and had it delivered through Door Dash. Food arrived hot. Burgers were so overcooked as to be hard and tasteless. Toppings were so wet that the bun was falling apart. I tried to call the number listed on the River City website to work things out, but was repeatedly greeted by a voicemail, even though it was a couple hours before closing. I've lived in this town for almost 30 years and try to do business locally, but I won't be going back.

Very fun place to go. They have many Lanes and even a private rooms with Lanes great for a birthday party. They also have a great variety of arcade game. The laser tag is an awesome time that everyone should check out! The bar and restaurant have tasty food options. I always enjoy coming here!

We went there yesterday 3/14 and had a good time within ourselves. Although William I believe his name was running the cashier register... or suppose to at least. We asked multiple questions and he just acted so bothered. When the ball got stuck in the lane, he rudely got our ball and when thanked did a big “yup”. What a nasty worker. Multiple people waited to pay as he was no where to be found. Bowiling itself was fun. I will not be going back. Customer service means everything in a place like that. If the employees have nasty attitudes you will loose service. Just ugly negative experiences with staff. We will be going to elsewhere next time.

Went on a Saturday and it was very busy. The place was adequately staffed. Pizza was pretty good lots of cheese and thin crust. The laser tag is pretty fun too. Had a few issues but the waitress took care of it without complaint. Previously had a poor review, River City has certainly improved since then.

Arcade, laser tag, bowling, dining and event center! I've held events here and I've visited socially. It is a great environment, staff usually attentive. They take care of their facility and it shows. The event rooms are very nice and can conform to small and extras large parties. Laser tag is a BLAST and affordable priced :)

I went in for lunch with my parents, ordered a burger and quartered chicken, and waited 45 minutes for our food to get out. They gave us a bs excuse that the kitchen was really busy, but less than half the dining room was full. Food was good when we got it.

The young man in the arcade was wonderful to deal with. We had a issues with our arcade card and he went above and beyond to fix it, and did it with a great personality and was awesome with the kids as they picked their prizes!! P.s. the people behind the bowling counter were fantastic too!

This place can be fun to bring the kids. Sometimes we bowl with them and play laser tag. Sometimes we set them up with bowling and go to the bar and watch a wild game. They do have pool tables. Stuff is a bit pricey. Best deal for bowling and game is Sunday night they have a great deal for, I believe 4 hours of unlimited bowling, laser tag, and arcade for about $16 a person.

My friend and I went here today. We were welcomed by Jacob. He helped us with the games. Like when they were not working. Over all the place is fun for all ages. One thing to improve would be the other employees. Some of them where sitting on their phones. That didn't make us feel welcomed. If you go there, ask for Jacob.

The laser tag was not worth it. We had an awful worker, we told her we wanted to do everyone versus everyone and she didn’t switch the mode so we were playing teams and we had no idea. She was hanging out with a friend who did not appear to be a worker and we stepped out of the laser tag room to find her to ask what was going on and we couldn’t find her anywhere. We wasted a couple minutes of our short laser tag game to try find her to see what was going on. Once we finally found her she was very rude about the whole issue and wouldn’t let us restart our game or refund us. She seemed very annoyed that we asked a question and immediately went back to chatting with her friend. I’ve had great experiences in the past but this particular lady made this experience horrible. This lady’s name is Jenna, if she’s working come another night.

They need to figure out if they are an event center or a family friendly bowling alley /arcade center. Tried to go bowling with the family and was told lanes were shutting down and a $10 cover charge for a band (this included the arcade). Nothing on website stated they were closing bowling and charging for a band. I felt sorry for the wedding reception & the animal shelter that were holding events at the same time...

Staff: 5 stars Food: 4 stars Bowling Alley atmosphere & price: 5 stars Arcade: 2 stars Cleanliness: -1 star First impression: "Wow, this place is filthy!" The women's restroom was a disaster. Toilet paper & trash all over. Trash was laying around all over the building. I bought a pop & there was a used cup inside of the pop machine (!?). Below zero out & bundled up. No place to hang our jackets so we were dragging them around with us while trying to play games at the arcade. Arcade has a great selection of games. However a few were out of order & 2 machines took my "tokens" or deducted money from our playing card & didn't let us play the game. I had the cashier return the money but I wonder how many times that's happened without the customer noticing? Majority of the games are $1 to play for maybe 30 seconds ...pricey!! Bowling was reasonably priced. The music was excellent, fun lights at night, best bowling alley around! Food was very good! The waitress took our orders while we bowled. She was excellent! Very attentive & speedy. I asked if they had any hand sanitizer & she got her own little bottle from her purse for us to use! Who does that?! Wow! And finally, a shout out to JACOB the attendant in the Arcade for making our visit & our day amazing! Give this young man a promotion & a hefty raise! My 4 yr old son had his heart set on the stuffed Elmo toy. We spent a lot of time & money at the Arcade & didn't have quite enough to get Elmo. Being 4 years old, my son didn't quite understand why he couldn't have Elmo & he was very sad. Jacob rounded our tickets up so we could get Elmo after all! The smile on my little guy's face was my Christmas miracle. Thank you Jacob!!!!

We had a very fun family time of bowling and lunch. Two of us had breakfast buffet, and two from the menu. Wild rice soup was rich and creamy, and onion rings were crispy and not too greasy. This is a good place for family time. Arcade looked awesome, but we did not partake. Very friendly staff, all around.

I came here today with my friend, and one thing that stood out to me the most was an employee named Jacob. He was incredibly helpful for the whole time that we were there. Whenever something went wrong, like a basketball getting stuck or the chip reader declining my card, he got it straightened out quickly. He was very friendly and made the whole experience great.

The whole arcade section needs renovation, from broken and overpriced games to outdated boring ones, also the entire arcade staff which is usually some teenage high school kid with 0 customer service, or any job experience and always missing from the area and usually cannot be found when in need. Also the prize selection is literally filled with the cheapest, lowest of quality sweatshop made penny toys. The ticket system in which you receive tickets is rigged for you to get the lowest amount of tickets even after achieving high scores. Spend 40 bucks on games and earn enough tickets to get a tootsie roll and a cheap plastic toy that breaks before you even leave the establishment. Also the auctioned pictures are a little too much, have them there for shows or maybe just the weekends but everytime I go there I shouldn't see auction pictures, this is a bowling alley/ arcade, not a auction, it's just a little tacky, plus the seller is rude and forceful, pictures are not of any exclusiveness and overpriced. The menu could use some revamping and updating. Besides the usually dirty bathrooms or dirty bowling alley tables, bowling is decent. Not here to bash this place, just detailing my experiences there on multiple occasions. Potentially good place just needs a good tune-up.

Walked in waited 30 min before we recognized a waitress we had last time that did an awesome job. How can you expect a server to cover 40 people and have happy guests! I ran a restaurant for 3 years and our best server had at most 6 tables. Bailey is the best and most friendly waitress... She seems to be the only one actually working too. There were 3 others just standing around and leaning on the rail. If people like Bailey leave this place it is going to go down hill fast and will lose me as a customer along with a lot of other people. Hopefully ownership can help correct all of the younger people that just stand around and do nothing while you have one person working there butt off. Please get the rest of your staff doing work, and not just chatting with co-workers or on their phones.

Had a new hire open house today in their banquet rooms. Was very pleased with the rooms and the service. Ordered lunch for 8 people and all seemed pleased with the food. My brisket sandwich was awesome and had a ton of meat on it.

Had a great time here recently for one of my kids birthday partys. We invited 9 girls total and they had a VIP room set up for us. We also got an hour of bowling for all of the kids. Our room was setup nicely and the server we had was excellent and helped guide us through the whole party. All of the kids (Including birthday girl) seemed to have a really good time between the bowling and arcade. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking to do something similar. I thought the pricing was really fair as well.

Drinks are expensive and my dinner took more than an hour to get. Instead of being an up front guy and removing it from my bill because I had to remind him to check on it an hour after ordering it, he actually charged me for it....Unreal. Horrible service, they were super tight with their moonlight bowling payouts, and the only bonus was the fact we were bowling, and that once I finally got my food it was quite good.

Response to the owner: If you are unaware of the problems here, you are the problem. Or at the very least, do not spend enough time here. This wasn't my first, second, even third time having issues here but it will definitely be my last. I've given more than a fair amount or chance and will no longer throw my money away in this place. It's too bad too. The food isn't half bad. It's the extremely poor management. I even felt bad for our server. Seemed like a nice girl. Just a joke... will never be back here. I could write a novel about how downhill this place has gone. I can't believe they're still in business. We were literally the only people in the entire restaurant and it still took 2 hours to get out of there..

Here's the thing- I found the bowling alley and arcade to be quite nice. They have midnight bowling with black lights as well. My daughter went to a party there. My wife and I went to the restaurant while she was at the party. The food we had, while probably better than most bar fare, was not up to average restaurant quality. Also, the service was very slow AND they forgot our appetizer until after our entrees were brought out. So, in conclusion, I would give the bowling/arcade part a 5 star rating, I give the restaurant part a 2 star. In fairness, we didn't try the pizza which both smelled and looked good. So, in summation, Go there for fun, but don't plan your meal there.

Awful experience on more than one occasion. I brought my family in a month ago and there was simply no one on staff to help serve for the bowling lanes, and very hard to get help with lane issues. Manager was in over his head on this specific night. Just this last week I called 3 times to simply reserve some lanes for 20 kids plus families to have a soccer party. I was transferred to voicemails and no one ever called back. I called to reserve it with the manager on duty but he was bowling at the time and couldn’t take my call. The poor owner of this place has no idea how poorly its being run.

My first experience went well but this place spectacularly ruined my fiance's bachelorette party by allowing the high school to rent it out on Saturday night .that much was reasonable, but they were not given any warning until 30 minutes prior to the early closure to the public. To make matters worse the staff allowed them to purchase a party package knowing that they might not have ample time to fulfill it. Something like that needs signs posted at the entrance doors or something at least a few hours in advance to keep people from wasting their time and money, the morning of would be ideal in my opinion. The events staff needs to whip into shape for my review to return to 5 stars.

We had our wedding here and unfortunately we cannot recommend this venue for a wedding. Main issues: cold food, undercooked steak, slow service, unprofessional staff. Many of our guests were unable to eat the steak because it was rare/blue. Many of the dishes were served cold. Service was slow where some guests didn't get cake. We felt we let our guests down. Their main responsibility was the food and they didn't execute. Unfortunately, the staff handled it with excuses and stated they delivered according to the contract. My sister had a hold on the place for her wedding before experiencing our wedding, but canceled the hold after hearing about guests dinner experience. Some positives: responsive, nice location, nice ballroom, good drinks. - EDIT 11/3/18 - Based on response from owner to this review, reduced to one star. Dishonest and misleading management. They insist on implying that we and our guests are liars. Also revealed private information.

The sports bar has good quality food and I've always had good service. A few of their chicken sandwiches are very good. The pizza is average though. I've also held a yearly fundraising event here and the staff has always done a fantastic job hosting our event of over 130 people. The bar and waitstaff at the event are very attentive and I get compliments from my group on how well things are run. They make my event pretty easy to set-up and run every year.

Food and wait staff are good; however, management view of weekend league bowling is terrible. Prices are continually raised while lanes continue to deteriorate. Pin setter and scoring issues become more frequent. Approaches and seating area floors aren't cleaned after open bowling presenting risk of injury. If you need to pre-bowl you pretty much have to take time off work as open bowlers get priority in the evenings and on weekends.

Nice staff. The Monticello city water supply is crappy so don't take it out on the vendors for having "dark matter " in your clear soda products. Get a better water softening system. A fountain system is only as good as the water it is supplied

I have been eating here 3 days a week for lunch since the building was built, and my management staff also attends our lunches here. They have gone through the ups and downs all restaurants do and they have always persevered. Losing Exec Chefs is never easy and not only have they bounced back they get better every time. On to our server she continues to take it up a notch and it shows here attention to detail on the salad bar and the changes she has made recently cannot be overlooked, I come from a restaurant background and know how difficult it can be but this server takes on more responsibility and continues to knock it out of the park. Say what you want post whatever review but leave know doubt this team continuously strives hard to stay on top of the game. Will there be bumps in the road sure but the resilience of this team never waivers. Great Job River City and your entire team. Best kept secret in town get the word out great service, great food, great atmosphere. Thanks for making our lunches so special every day.

Lots of stuff to do. Had many many places to hold any kind of event that you wanted. Plenty of bowling lanes and midnight bowling. The arcade was pretty cool. However their Monday night special was not very well advertised. So be warned if you go there for $10 Unlimited Arcade and Laser Tag. You will only get to play games that do not give you tickets or anything else. Overall I would say the place is a decent place to go. However we only did the arcade and one game of laser tag because the laser tag is not well organized and they just let people barrel in without waiting in line. Beyond the few complaints it was a decent experience.

We had our bowling banquet there last night, 3 of us at our table had the sirloin steak and all 3 were over cooked, dry and tough. So for $ 21.00 was not worth the value for the cost. The prime rib or maybe I should say " fat" as at least 2/3 of it was fat wasn't worth the price either. Sorry, but stick to the burgers if you go there. Not quite as bad.

Terrible service every time I go here! The arcade is a rip off, the girl Jade who works there is so rude...the lazer tag is a joke. Every time you go here the young kids working are so awful...I would not recommend this place

Great place to bowl and the prices aren't too bad. Large reception room and decent bar and restaurant. My very large family has held a few events here and they handled us very well.

This place has everything you would want to entertain the family. The arcade is a decent size with a good mix of games. Lazer tag is a lot more affordable than at other places. Right now kids can bowl for free in the bowling alley and the food is decent and affordable. The games are about half the price of Dave and Buster's and it is less busy. My kids definitely want to go back and I'm all for it.

Service is very hit or miss if you are in the bowling alley. Never enough servers, hard to get their attention. Better off just going up to the bar and ordering yourself. Food is good though.

We showed up at 9 as a group of 5 adults to bowl, play some laser tag, and eat/drink. The service was great at the front desk, we were able to get in immediately and play 3 rounds of bowling, 1 for free so we could finish our current game. However, when me and another person went to the bar the bartender questioned my birthday as I had the new ID design, then went on to pretend he did not know the day/month we were currently in, and then when we were ID’d for our drinks at our table the server claimed my ID was fake. Not a fan they weren’t up to date with the new Minnesota Driver’s License as they serve alcohol. Our food was okay, but extremely salty, as if the whole jar of salt was poured on our burgers. After bowling we were looking forward to playing some arcade games and laser tag. The laser tag and arcade games closed at 9:40 pm with no announcement, and no signs saying laser tag and the arcade times were subject to change. I was very disappointed as we were planning to have an eventful Saturday night expecting River City Extreme to be open until 1am, but ended up leaving at 10:00pm and found somewhere else to enjoy our night.

We were here between hockey games and called ahead to make sure they could handle our group. After we arrived it went south fast with one waitress and warm drinks delivered after the food was made not to order it was a bad experience from start to finish. The only positive was the manager was understanding and it reflected on our bill. I do not like to leave bad reviews but I was honestly very disappointed.

Been going here for a couple years . When I first started going there the food was great and it was a must come back sort of place "The Morning Messenger". I know that they have changed up their menus a few times, but this newest menu needs work... the burgers are thick cylinder wads of meat with a bad flavor and hard to chew. I still come here but almost never order food. Cheese curds are always slightly undercooked. I never knew a bar could mess up chicken strips, but they seem to have done that. If we could get a cook that cares about the food this place would easily be a 5 star. On the new menu, the outsiders pasta is very good- on a positive note. Great atmosphere! Servers and bartenders are outstanding.
