This Bowling Alley is classified in the category of American restaurant.
One of the things my wife and I enjoy while on vacation is finding a nice & unusual place to have breakfast. I saw this place on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" TV program. OUTSTANDING! A not to miss place to eat in Minneapolis. Part bar, part restaurant, part bowling alley & part theater. My wife and I had the day's special and weren't disappointed. Great food and ample portions. In case you are wondering, overstuffed omelette with flat cut home fries and pumpernickle toast.
This is a fantastic place for a date or outing with friends. You can do some bowling, eat food, get tipsy if that's your thing, and see live theater all in one place. I'm a big fan of Tipsy Kangaroo's Naughty Puppet Revue, and they've had other super fun live shows, like literary trivia and an 1800s romance themed improv show. Check out their show calendar. I've never been disappointed. It's a super relaxed atmosphere. Nicer than a dive bar, but I still feel comfortable saying swear words. 5 stars.
Been many times over the years as friends like this place. Good food and hip atmosphere. Fun to bowl on the old lanes and watch the ball jump around. Wait staff generally not attentive and sometimes rude.
The breakfast was somewhat tasty, the portions on the small side and the prices reasonable. The Bloody Mary's we had were not very good, but the server and service was
They only let kids have bumpers because the bumpers don't work properly, you gotta keep score yourself. The food was mediocre and so we're drinks. My friend got a mocktale that tasted like straight up apple cider vinegar. Not a great selection of balls, and shoes and such are not very organized
Really liked the vibe here. This place has character and great decor - love the bowling trophies above the bar. Bartender poured a nice deep one. The bowling alley is 8 lanes. You feel like you've stepped into the 70's. Very retro. This place is no frills but fun.
Really cool intimate venue
Great retro atmosphere, pretty good food, and the bowling looked like fun but it was too long of a wait on a busy holiday afternoon.
I love this place! They have delicious vegetarian options and good service. The beer selection is good, but I didn't love the bloody Mary.
Uptown classic. Overall chill vibe. Burgers are good, not great or poor. The bowling is pretty cheap, which is nice
Love the atmosphere and beer specials. Very classic south Minneapolis
Decent food - overall felt we overpaid for a subpar facility and experience.
Love this place, as a long time Mineapolis boy I dig this place. Bahn Mi hit the spot! I dig the bowling and how involved in the community they are.
I am constantly amazed at the quality food that Bryant-Lake puts out from their closet of a kitchen. The staff is always friendly, they have a great beer list, and for a place that offers up nothing fried (that I've ever noticed), their menu is varied and quite good. For an average night out, it's a good spot. Never bowled though, so maybe someday.
José is a fun and funny server, seriously enjoyed him serving us on the sidewalk patio. Super awesome NACHOS! Dog friendly!! Hipster chill vibe with an old school bowling alley and awesome theater too. Stop in for one and if you like it, stay for two!
Always entertaining, with great food and drinks. I love performing there with Vilification Tennis the last Friday of every month!
Good cuban sammich
Good food. Old school bowling. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Decent beer selection. Food is good. Lanes are trash, I enjoy scoring myself but lanes are probably oiled bi-weekly. Definitely a hipster hangout. Edit: reply; really? Because 25% or more lanes were out of service, the approach was sticky. I understand that bowling is clearly the novelty part of your business, but they are barely usable.
Was awesome. Went to see a show and it was amazing. Good is too notch, great environment.
Cramped seating in the theatre but good food and the Cabaret was good!
Visited this venue twice so far. Once for the MN fringe festival, once for a show called Villification Tennis. Very unique little venue. A little cramped seating-wide, but fairly good views of the stage, and a good menu selection, both in the theater and in the bowling alley/dining area.
The theater is not very comfortable but the people and the vibe makes a difference. Well done food.
My favorite place to bowl!
Had a great time, everyone was kind right off the bat, with the exception of the older gentleman with the glasses came off like he was in some sort of mood. Food/drink/vibe and bowling was great. Highly recommend.
One of the bartenders was rude and wouldn't even offer me a drink. Over what was supposed to be a silly question. Kinda ruined my Birthday experience. Other than that the atmosphere is great! It sure has changed over the years as far as customer service goes.
Really enjoyed the visit. Good food and entertainment
Get the scrambles ... No.1 is my goto
Classic bowling with great food and beer in the heart of uptown. One of the main uptown spots that's still left amid the rapid development and new apartment complexes.
Really cute place
This adorable retro bowling alley makes you feel like you stepped back in time.
Very Unique Place for food and drinks... Highly recommend!
Cute venue. Old style bar and grill. New waitress. Food was good. Prices average.
What fun! The fact we had to score our own bowling made it much more fun with friends. Good drinks and the nachos were awesome!
Lifesaver! Up Down was packed and we wanted a group to be able to talk and hang out while playing a game. This place is it. I've gone on dates here (they have a deal for a date night), I've gone bowling late night, I've seen theatre here. Love BLB&T.
Fun place to just hang outat! With indoor/outdoor seating, plus a bowling alley, plus a concert space, the vibe of "things going on" is seconds to none here. I especially appreciate the multiplicity of local taps. - Also, all the staff I've met (so far) are super nice people :)
Went here for a relaxing night of bowling and drinks.. and it was awesome!! Great time bowling.. not crazy busy.. awesome beer selection and sweet music! Definitely a must check out
Wonderful space for adults. Music, live theatre, bowling and alcohol. Didn't feel like dancing tonight, but I'm sure that it would have been a safe place to do so. Had a good burger and would now feel comfortable to explore their menu - not large, but a slight variation on predictable. Saw a very good sketch comedy show, but with live theatre, that's not a guarantee. I had 2 different servers; one in the theatre was great, one in bar, not so. However, the one major complaint - drinks too expensive. It's hard to enjoy an evening out when the tab inflates so quickly. First time there, so maybe they have a rewards/regulars incentive that would make me repeat.
Great food and bowling. One of the few bowling alleys in the twin cities that has good food.
Great atmosphere, food, and service! Looking forward to my next visit
Great experience wonderful staff. Felt right at home when visiting MOA!
Was at the Bryant Lake Bowl for the annual Toys for Tots fundraiser showing of the Star Wars Holiday Special. This happens one night only every December. It’s a good time watching an awful movie. While I was there I had a chance to eat. I tried one of their burgers and it was terrific. Not the least expensive place to eat in the cities, but you pay for the ambience, nostalgia, as well as the food. Service was fast. Limited parking in their back lot, which is past the building behind it. Look for the signs. I’ll be back when I’m South again. The nacho platter my friends were having was amazing looking and I’ll be trying that next time.
If I could marry the Mac And Cheese, death would part us too soon, because it's too delicious. Also, great blend of venue. Bowling, Restaurant, AND Theater. All a quality time.
Excellent menu options and loved the theatre!
My wife goes bowling every Wednesday but I'm never invited! She says it's fun though!
Crowded fun retro bowling. Vast beverage menu. And great accomodating service.
Went for bowling and drinks. There is a quality beer menu and decent drinks, although the pricing is a bit high. We waited for 1.5 h or more for a lane, and received very different wait time estimates depending on who we spoke to. The bowling itself was a lot of fun and the pin setup/ball return were the fastest and least problematic systems that I have ever encountered.
Went in for dinner around 7:30 and then around 8 we paid for unlimited bowling that went until 10. We managed to get four games in! So worth it and so fun! The food is great as well!
Kitchsy and fun. A great place to bowl for cheap on weeknights
Long wait times, no reservations and grimy. My hands were black and disgusting/greasy after playing two games. They don’t appear to clean the balls or shoes in between use or at all. I called over a month before going to reserve a couple of lanes for a team outing. I was asked how many people in my party and I told them 9. They told me they don’t take reservations for parties under 10 and assured me we would not have a wait. When we arrived, there was a 30 minute wait and then they tried to put all of us in one lane. There wasn’t even space for all of us to sit. So we are and waited for two lanes to open together. The server took our order and never returned. The owner, who I spoke to directly about this experience, helped us get a table while we ate, but seemed rather unsympathetic. She also stuck to her no reservation for parties under 10 line. They got us two lanes together - 2 hours after we had arrived. It was frustrating! The food was decent and bowling was fun, but we will take our business elsewhere in the future given this experience. I was disappointed the owner wasn’t more apologetic and it appears she learned nothing from this experience.
We came here for a show in their side theater. The food is fantastic and the service was great! Eating in the theater though was a little tough as the tables could only accommodate a few glasses and MAYBE one plate. Other than that, a great place for fun and food!
Good place to go bowling, cold beer, and great people
Food was good. Wait staff was pretentious. I don't like being talked down to.
Interesting place my friends and I came to play some bowling. Lane 4 is basically inoperable and must be reset 1-2 times before all the pins will stand. Customer service is more or less a foreign concept here we mentioned the lane maybe 5-6 times. The 5th time someone went to check and then finally let us switch to a lane that worked better. This place has a decent atmosphere and the food smelled good. The whole waiter for the lane thing doesn't really work here. Not a bad place
Fun place to bowl. Get there early, not many lanes.
Cool place but charging $10 to bowl where I also need to write my own scores? Pass. Also if it's busy service by the lanes slows significantly. However i'll still come here for drinks and company. Always a busy place for bar food and entertainment.
Cute AF. Foods dope! Bowling is a different experience. I almost really like bowling when at this restaurant.
Fun and good service
Came here for the first time with friends. Sign said seat yourself, so my friend grabbed a table and we went to the bar to grab a drink. We wait a few minutes, and finally the bartender comes over and says ‘YA GOT A TABLE, ORDER THERE’ so we go to the table. The server doesn’t introduce herself, doesn’t say hi, just glares at us and asks what we want. We order a few rum and cokes and a beer. She comes back with the drinks, opens the beer, and attempted to slide it across the table, but ended up spilling it directly into my lap. She doesn’t apologize, she doesn’t do anything. Just walks away. 5 mins later she throws a dry rag on the table while walking away. Another server drops off a drink later, and mentions that I look wet. I tell her that the last server spilled on me and didn’t say a word. She responds ‘sounds like she’s human’ and walks away. We usually love our servers, we’re easy people. I used to work at a waitress. This was terrible. Won’t come again. I’m sticky and embarrassed.
Great overall. Prices and drinks. Didn't eat. Not crowded.
Don't order the Reuben. Staff is cool, location and atmosphere is awesome. Reuben was not good, rice bowl was okay. Ask what stuff is before ordering -- the Buffalo Chicken Nachos didn't have buffalo sauce or chicken which was odd. Better spot for bowling and drinks than a casual date night dinner. When our server saw I barely touched my sandwich she was concerned and took it off the bill without me asking.
We love Bryant Lake Bowl! I've celebrated birthdays there and also enjoyed their date night with my husband, on Monday's! The staff is the sweetest and the bowling is old school and so much fun!
Always a good time. It is what it is.
I stopped by Bryant-Lake Bowl to meet with my girlfriend and catch up. We had delicious chili and wonderful service! Thank you!
This is one of my favorite spots in uptown Minneapolis! Awesome food and the bowling is great. The staff is always great as well!
Only reason they have more than one star is that the food is good. The service however, is not great. One experience, my drink came after my meal. Another, my appetizer came after my meal. The last is the greatest offense. I notified the waitress of my tomato allergy. When my food came, there was tomato on my food. I said I have a tomato allergy. She takes her BARE HAND, picks up the lettuce cradling the tomato, looks me in the eye and says "There you go" uhmmmmmm goodbye
Great place for a date night
Bryant lake bowl is a really great venue to see theatre productions, or music, or comedy shows, or all of them at once. Enjoy great food and drink while doing so. And if you still need more stimulus after that, you can bowl a few games at one of the finest lanes the city has to offer! Thanks for listening
Fun place but overpriced but then again that's uptown
Great food, good vibe. No TV's which is a nice change.
An intimate venue with food and drink available during the performance. I appreciate that they are open to providing more experimental programing. I have been surprised by so many and have enjoyed them all. Highly recommend this venue.
Food is edible. Service is usually poor/not very friendly. Drink selection is OK. Not the greatest.
Bryant-Lake is one of those places that's popular because of it's location, not it's service. Really poor vegan vegetarian options for food. Bowling is subpar (you track your own score) and the cocktails are weak. In general just way more expensive than it is worth. Not really any redeeming qualities about this place, and I'm done giving it chances.
Great place for brunch. Food, atmosphere and service are outstanding.
Unique combo of food, bowling and theater.
I've been coming to BLB since I first moved to Minneapolis. First off, the food and ambiance are wonderful and laid back. It's a perfect spot for brunch, drinks, or even a laid back meeting. But my real love is the theater. I've been fortunate enough to produce shows here for 2 years now and I couldn't ask for more. The staff is amazing. The theater curators put a ton of time and effort into their work. If you haven't been to a show at BLB you are missing out!
Peggy and the crew at BLB are excessively helpful, great food, great vibe, great memories.
Cheap date night is a blast here! you get to go bowling.I have probably had at least half of that menu items and I can't find a single flaw in the cooking or quality here. The service is always cordial. I have to get the wings almost every time I go there so tasty. Simple yet traditional menu items with a twist of awesomeness!
Been there a handful of times. Fairly priced food, service has always been good. I've never bowled there so I can't comment on that portion of their service. Last time I was there I had the patty melt, however, the burger wasn't seasoned or didn't taste like it was, so I'd watch out for that. I'm not going to knock a star off for that however, as everything else I've had has been really good! Also, their date night meal for two (dinner for two, bottle of wine, and bowling) is so cheap you can't afford to not do it.
This place was packed, the drinks were expensive, and the staff was under-enthusiastic. Too many other places to go in this area to choose such a spot.
great pretzels
Does amazing hair styles
I was there for a holiday work party and they took care of us! The drinks were strong-I had the streetfighter. Food was yummy but the bowling shoes need repair! I will visit again...
Fun place for a drink, bowling, or dinner. Relaxed environment for a casual date or hang out with friends.
Great bowling alley!
I have fallen in love with Bryant-Lake Bowl! Quaint and authentic feeling spot with a small bar and seating area in the front and vintage-style bowling in the back. The beer is reasonable priced and the pretzel was good. Bowling is by the game instead of the hour, so the price can climb fast with just 2 people playing, but we had a great time. You have to score by hand which I kind of loved - even though I hate math. Servers continued to come to us while we were bowling, so we were able to continue ordering drinks without interrupting the game. A definite must-try!
Great selection of different Bloody Mary's. Brunch was the perfect amount of food. It has an excellent dive bar feel which goes along nicely with the sounds of bowling in the background.
Cool atmosphere but everything seems more expensive than it needs to be and service was kinda slow. Might be awesome midday. Not the greatest between 6 and 9 p.
Absolutely a favorite breakfast spot. A great cup of coffee at one of the lowest prices you’ll find in the metro with refills. Fun to find a table outside any time the weather cooperates. A fine place for adult beverages and a very excellent date night deal with a game of bowling.
Such a fun place! Very affordable ad great for date night!
Cute place. Very warm and welcoming. Great burgers and all the sides to choose from. Excellent service.
Awesome bartender. Ordered some local lager similar to Lonestar. Was good and the bartender hooked me up with a free koozie
meat was missing from a sandwich. the waitress took so long to come back, there was no point in asking for it. had to go up to bar to request a beer (there was only 2 other people in restaurant). food was OK, but service could have been better.
Come for the bowling, vintage feel, and theater. Leave because God awful service every time.
My bahn mi was really disappointing. Beer list was ok. Potato chips were passable but not exciting..
This place is fantastic for the environment, good food and cocktails. Everything seems to be a little bit more expensive than it should be, but overall I've had pretty great experiences with this place. Great for date night.
Classic Minneapolis bowling venue. I love it
It is very nice place to be with friends!
Good food and service. Modern and yet classic atmosphere. Good bowling. You have to do your own scoring for bowling which is hard if you don't know what you're doing but fun once you figure it out.
Theater space is cramped but adequate. Waitstaff was remarkably helpful and on the ball. And the villification show is a lot of laughs, I'll be back!
Delicious food and a fun, retro atmosphere. Reasonable prices too. I had a blast bowling and eating with friends, and it's cool that you can see shows as well!
Fun establishment! We had a group get together that rented the bowling space and got food and drinks from the bar. Pizza and drinks were great. Service was a little lackluster, but we had the bowling to distract us. The lack of technology in the bowling area was super fun and unique. Would definitely recommend to others!
Enjoyed breakfast here Sunday Morning. Very cool atmosphere and vibe in this place. Loved the look of the old bowling alley as well will have to return to bowl. Bloody Mary's were delicious, food excellent as well. Staff was very friendly and attentive, enjoyed our conversations with the gentlemen doing dishes that has worked there for a long time very cool individual. We will be back!
The food was great and the service was perfect. Very funky, casual place.
Food is good, bowling is fun. Fair warning bowling is super old school, you even have to track your own score. I love the theater and all the wild things they do there. From improv to drag to political talks. BLB is a fun place for a lot of different nights; date, friend, family, whatever!
Good place to bring the kids. Great bowling alley with food to purchase.
Service at the bar from a girl bartender was rude as heck!! She had no friendly welcoming customer service, defiantly should not have people like that being the face of the place smh. Seemed to be only one happy person that worked there. Will never be back because of my first time experience.
When we got there, my wife and I walked through the bar/restaurant, past the bowling alley, and up to the "box office" (it's actually a teeny tiny desk with a register stuck into a corner by the theater entrance) to get the tickets for our show. Keep in mind that this was my first time ever inside of Bryant-Lake Bowl. I've heard a lot about it and I know plenty of people who have gone to see shows as well as folks who have performed as local talent. The whole place did not disappoint as far as its reputation. The venue was a great place for small acts and intimate shows. But that was the only thing that got to me; the intimacy, or rather claustrophobia. It's a really, really small venue and so when the theater is packed, it feels like people are in to of offer another. Some people might like that aspect. And for me, it's not a complete deterrent to every going back (I'm giving a four-star review, I'd like to go back again). I think it's just something to be prepared for, when you go.
Their date night deal is absolutely amazing! 2 entrees, 2 drinks, plus a round of bowling. It's a fun/causal place with good energy. Check it out!
Great bloody Mary's & Biscuit s and gravy
Been here dozens of times. Never had a disappointing breakfast. Just the neatest place to sit and enjoy being alive. Wait staff is always attentive. This visit I had the veggie hash with two eggs over easy on top. OMG what a tasty meal. My wife had the granola pancake and a cup of fruit. Quite delicious. Check the photos I posted. Forget those suburban apostrophe restaurants. Get down to the Bryant-Lake Bowl!!
Fun atmosphere! Good food! My friend liked her beer.
Great drink and food selections. The nachos are massive, plenty to split between two or three people. The wait for a free lane for bowling can be a bit longer on cheap date night (Mondays from 6p-midnight) but once you get rolling it's worth it. All the lanes are old style, which means you keep track of the score by hand and also they can be prone to breaking unexpectedly, but the staff are extremely helpful and jump right in to problem solve. We weren't able to finish our game but they didn't charge us for the shoes and gave us a few free game coupons to use the next time we come back. Highly recommend as a place to hang with friends or a date!
It's a small restaurant and small bowling lanes but great drinks, delicious food and evening entertainment in the theater.
Love the low key atmosphere! Quality food and great service.
Best block party!
Fun experience but the host forgot about us and gave our lane to another party.
Hipster pub! Food (brunch) was okay. Service was awesome
The Cheap Date Night on Mondays is so awesome!! We did a double date with friends and had such a blast - the food was great and the bowling was so much fun! The only bummer was we played one game and then the wait if we wanted to play a second was two hours (
Adorable spot to eat, bowl, and catch a show. If you are attending- they do serve inside the theater as well as in the restaurant. Options for just about everyone to enjoy.
Monday special includes pre-determined entree and wine selection.
An awkward bow signalled the end. He waited eagerly as the crowd remained silent. As on cue, the numbers leapt from their seats, hollering illustrious praises over one another. At last the moment had come, waves of emotion crashed against him as he fought to hold his composure. "Now let's see them laugh at me," he muttered under his breath. Best bowling in town!
Just a great place. Good food and wait staff.
Happy to find wake up beers for $5!!
Been coming here since I was a kid. It's an institution. It's real Uptown in its heyday. The food is OK, the drinks are reasonable, and the bowling is garbage (the lanes are warped and the equipment is the same stuff I was using 20 years ago). The "bowl" part of bryant lake bowl is a novelty--it's cheap and something to do while drinking cheap drinks...not a place to try to keep score (which is done on paper!).
Fun place for bowling. The lanes might need some work, though.
Wonderful food, drinks and entertainment. Great gluten free options, fun bowling and hilarious theater shows
Fun place!! I loved bowling, especially because you can drink during! The new outside seating is perfect to grab a drink and people/car watch.
Fun place! Good food and friendly service. We were here on a Sunday about noon and it was pretty packed. We got a table right away but after that a line started forming. I had a burger that was good, my BF had pad thai and he liked that.
Alleys are old which makes it a little bit of an adjustment for bowlers. Super fun place but very busy on the weekends
Great place for date night and there after, very casual and lowkey environment! Ole School style bowling lanes, with an attached theater. Eat, bowl, and catch a show...3 for 1 can't loose
Fun place with good happy hour specials. The theater is old but a fun small space for events.
Kept getting dirty glasses with lipstick stains on them. Tables were dirty and they had a lettuce issue so I couldn’t really eat anything I wanted.
Cool little theater, great food,
This place was great. The food was really good and the atmosphere was so unique. I loved it
Cool place. Great food. Had a blast at the theater show.
Great place to go bowl from the old school and some nice burgers!
If you're into vintage, and you like bowling, this is the place for you!! Old school 60's bowling alley. Only eight Narrow Lanes. Good beer selection from bar. Friendly staff. Nothing mechanized so study up on how to score for bowling as it's all manual. Would have been awesome if the old projector tables still worked.
Great place for a cheap date night! They offer bowling, good food, good service, and a good beer selection. This is a staple to my visits to Uptown
Bit hard to keep score after a few, but good place
Rude staff. High prices. Mediocre food. Crowded atmosphere.
Good food and a fun atmosphere
I go with my roommates and enjoy bowling and food every once in a while and we allways have a great time!
Excellent place for some cheap bowling and a wonderful time. Great food and drink selections. Manual counting and playing has a way different feel to the game
This place is awesome. Cheap bowling and beers, relaxed atmosphere. Date night special is great too.
Good food but way too spendy. I only went there because Harriets was not up and running.
I like this place a lot, for its location and good food. It can be extremely loud in there however, and I dont think their cocktails are that great, although I love the bloody Mary's. The bowling is really fun, and they have these cool little tables outside where you can sit and watch people walk by. I definitely recommend it, a great Minneapolis establishment
Not the best visit there but it's not usually like this. The hot rum drink was so boozy I couldn't drink it.
One of my favorite places in Minneapolis, and one of the things I kissed lost when I moved to Chicago. Straight up old school bowling alley and new American restaurant. Some of the dishes are pretty overpriced for what you get, but the Monday Date Nite Special is a great deal. BLB fries are AMAZING but I know they changed the style a while ago. Not quite the same since they changed the BLB fries.
Always a great staff and amazing shows
My first time there in years, but had a great time!! My wife's company party there was fun. See they have play's there now too. Many people walking around the area enjoying uptown life! Go there and have a good time!!
Excellent fund friendly professional service. Great fun place with nice menu and good old fun. Food was really good and price value is decent. I will be back.
Fun old fashioned place. Great food and drinks, but you have to score yourself. I suppose that is part of the fun...
So much fun! Great food and service. Went to see Manners and Misconduct. So fun and funny!
Classic old-school bowling and bar with a great vibe.
I like the bar and seating outside great place good service uptown
We went there to see a play called Phylloxera! Presented by Commutator Collective and written by Marge. This was a brillant interactive show, hilarious, bonkers, and genius! Being able to eat while watching it was a great bonus too! We will come back for more shows for sure, or just for a game of bowling and beer!
I've only been here for drinks, but so far everything has been good. Very good beer selection, and the cocktails are pretty good. I had the peach pecan old fashioned. A bit on the sweet side, but a fun riff.
