While the place looks great and the staff are super helpful, there is a few issues here. They charge by the hour, not but by the game, so unless you're in a small group that's very focused on bowling, you probably won't be able to complete the game. And secondly, their music is insanely loud, loud enough that my ears still hurt the next day. The music was so loud that it was distorting and sounded like garbage on top of that. You're better of going somewhere else to bowl.

I came here with friends over the weekend and we were all very impressed. It was a Saturday evening and they were able to get us right in. I loved the 70's atmosphere they were able to curate. Between the colors, furniture, light fixtures, everything here just works. They were able to get the atmosphere perfect without being too tacky. They even have old 70's commercials and bowling footage on the TVs above. The lounge is comfortable and the bartenders were friendly and quick with the service. They're newly reopened so they don't have food yet but will within the next few weeks. If they can get the food right, I can really see this being a spot I'll frequent. Either way, a great experience.

Old property so mechanics are temperamental. Place has mid- century charm and staff are very accommodating.

They were not the cheapest even though their location is not the best. They have a strange attitude that tells you please do not come back. No please, welcome, thank you or anything like that is allowed by the staff. What bother me is how rude they get when you tell them a ball is stuck. Having said that, I would have gone there again but I found out almost all other places have much better special than them.

Thomas Burkhardt

Nice bar and clean bowling alley.

Kristie Johnston-Ritchie

Took the family for some bowling. $50 for one hour and shoe rental. We had a great time, staff was super friendly and accommodating to our needs. We will go back. Hoping to find some coupons for next time.

Was absolutely amazing originally, but now it’s all terrible remix music, crowded and not the best. The interior is changed and so is everything else. Do not recommend

If I could give this locale a "Zero Star" review I would. Paid for an hour of bowling with my mates and Had to switch lanes because of how dysfunctional they were...did I mention how helpful the employees are here? Because they aren't whatsoever. Bathroom smelled like piss. And worst of all the bartender is a Packers fan. Would've rather been donkey punched by a hobo. Thanks for a great evening....NOT

The new owners have done a fantastic job of preserving the building while adding modern technology and retro chic design. The 70's style permeates throughout, but is classy not kitschy. We had fun bowling on a Wednesday night while a DJ spun some old pop, r&b, and soul. There was a bit of a problem with the ball retrieving mechanism on our lane but the staff promptly attended to it and gave us more time for our troubles. They were courteous and apologetic. It's brand new so they are still working out some kinks with the lanes but we didn't care..it was fun! The lounge is really cool and the bartender explained that they will have live bands on weekends, and eventually food. Nice job preserving this gem!

If you love bowling and need a blast from the past then check out Bowlero lanes in Royal Oak. It’s a 70s inspired retro-boutique house complete with and old school arcade too. The TVs even had old shows and commercials to help immerse you in the experience.

This place is awesome nice staff also the people who put bad reviews your wrong

Adam G

Dysfunctional lanes, 1 employee who is rude, helpless, and drinking on the job. Place smells and bathrooms are disgusting and riddled with a variety of molds and what is most likely zika virus. I would rather send my children to North Korea then make them bowl 1 frame at Bowlero. HARD PASS. Bowl elsewhere

The newly remodeled 70's motif is fantastic; playing whole, period-appropriate albums on vinyl is a brilliant touch. While the decor was a throwback, the lanes themselves are very up to date with excellent scoring computers and lane hardware. Be sure to turn on the tips for interesting trivia and borderline sarcastic descriptions of the game as it unfolds. The only downside, no kitchen. Apparently that is coming soon, but it contributed to the frustration of a long wait for a lane in a busy bowling alley. I'll definitely be back!

Mark Donaldson

This place really has a great atmosphere for family and parties especially. The lanes are well maintained and the scoreboard interface is easily the best I've used at any alley. Made it easy and fun to get started compared to other locations I've been to. The only downside is they currently don't serve food but we were told that service will be coming. I highly recommend this bowling alley to anyone looking for a good time!

LANE KEPT SHUTTING OFF & LANE ATTENDENT STATED SHE WAS ON THE PHONE SO WE HAD TO WAIT FOR 15 MINS. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Stanley Kubrick would approve great drinks and ambiance. As for the "vintage arcade" all the pinball machines are newer and they have Pacman, Mrs Pac-Man and Missile command I would not expect this being labeled as an arcade.

70s aesthetic done right! Great music even with records! Bathrooms done right with Ms. Pacman, vanities, and Aquanet! However, there were many lane malfunctions and the bowling balls' holes were too small- from someone with small hands- so I can't give it 5 stars.

C F

Nice and clean, was there for birthday party.

Owners Dean and Kelly realized their vision of opening a very cool 70's themed bowling alley and lounge in the Bowlero. Highly recommended. 5 stars!

Anthony Nader

They wouldnt allow us to reserve open lanes 1 day in advance but said it wouldn't be a problem to get 3 lanes. Then of course it was a prob, but not too bad. The bartender was not very good at all, slow. But at least it was inexpensive.

Went over the weekend with my husband and son to play a few games. We asked to have bumpers put on for my son since he is younger and needed them. The bumpers never went up and they "called" their tech to come and fix it and they never showed up. Only played one game because of it. When we were paying to leave, again we let them know that the bumpers never went up for my son. The cashier was being rude about it. Not so much of a family friendly place. I don't know how the arcade was didn't want to waste money in there after our bowling experience wasn't so good.

Scott Cawley

Fun place to go

My boyfriend and I chatted it up with Dean and Dave. They are two of the owners. Really nice guys. Dean's wife did a stellar job designing the inside. It's sexy!!!

Great little neighborhood dive bar

I went here for this first time yesterday to meet some friends. They were very busy because of leagues. The staff was friendly, and the place is classic. It looks to be kept up well.

Lanes are rough, balls are kind of dead and the pins don't explode like they should. Not as cheap as you would like it to be either. There are better options around the area.

Most amazing alley in metro Detroit

New twist on an old favorite. Not the bowling alley of old. This trio of new owners Kelly, Dave & Dean are making this one of the hottest places to be & be seen!

Old bat at the bar didn't make eye contact with me for ten minutes, interrupted me during my order to ask for my ID, told me when I opened my tab that if I left my credit card she'd be "going on vacation", then forgot to put my food in. About half of the hour I spent there was in the bar trying to get them to move. Worst service I've gotten anywhere. Bowling was fine. Decent house balls.

Cool place with a purposely old-school feel, open bowling almost all of the time, affordable prices and a bar that's separated from the lanes; if you need to slip away for a moment and have a few fingers. LOL. Recommend!

Andrew Hughes

Bowled here with some friends about 6 months ago. Staff had a terrible attitude that made you feel like you were inconveniencing them with anything you ordered. The bartender was the one who really topped off the experience. She acted pissed whenever she had to serve anyone who hasn't been a patron there for 20+ years. I hope the place goes under or is sold to someone who can turn the customer service aspect around. We made the switch to Hartfield Lanes in Berkley and haven't had any issues there.

Yessss! It's back! To be fair, I never went to it in it's first iteration, but Bowlero is a real standout in our little corner of Royal Oak now! I live in the neighborhood and have been waiting excitedly to have it finally open. It was worth the wait! Such a wonderful experience. I will be back to introduce a new group of friends to this place.

Justin Hatch

Restored bowling alley. The decor and atmosphere are really great. Came in for a yacht rock event and they had an interesting live band playing in the lounge area. Staff is very attentive.

Mary Feola

No food. Yet you serve alcohol. Not a smart mix. I wish you well.

Lynnette G

The renovation is stellar. Fun bowling consoles and good drinks in the lounge. Fresh new rental shoes. The house bowling balls are original to the alley so they are a bit scratched up. Lounge will be serving food in the near future. The owners promised they are adding a bike rack soon too!

The Sat bartender(?) couldn't grill a burger and sell a bottled beer within 4 minutes. And she had an very bad attitude with absolutely no customer service skills. Won't go back - an alley with prices about double other lanes and lousy service - didn't see a smile from anyone
