Awful. Just an old rotting place with staff that bring the whole place down. The bathrooms are a mess and the place looks right out of the 1950s. the place could just use some deep cleaning and a bit of renovations. the worst part were the staff. They were rude and treated there PAYING customers like trash. I was having fun with a group but they made it a living hell. They were insulting and should be fired. would not recommend comping here especially if you are young.

Caesar Smiley Jr.

Great family friendly place to bring a date, hang with the kids, or get your bowling practice on.

Fun evening. Almost all lanes were filled, yet not too loud or crazy.

Been going there since my childhood. Don't know another candle pin bowling alley near south Boston. Friendly folk and the price is right.

A lot of fun

Candlestick bowling was fun. Older equipment that was difficult to operate and staff who was a bit unhelpful detracted from the fun

Great family atmosphere. I was in town visiting my wife's family. It was a nice little place to visit with my wife and play a little candle stick bowling

Had a fantastic visit here recently. Came into town for the week to go to a Bruins game and wanted to do some Candle Pin bowling since we don't have this back home in Michigan. What a fantastic center! Feels exactly the way a traditional bowling alley should feel! Gotta love the above ground classic ball returns to really bring home that classic touch. And every staff member I interacted with has been fantastic! A great hidden gem to visit and if I'm ever back in the Boston area I will absolutely come back! Thanks for the great time and thanks for the pin!

Just had a last minute family get together bowling at the Norwood Sport Center. It was a lot of fun. Our group of 28 with ages ranging from 4 to 86 was well accommodated. Kevin did a fabulous job of taking care of us.

Dingy place.

A great vintage candle pin bowling alley. There are 2 floors of lanes and maybe 6 video games and no food. Still 5 stars because it entertained a family of 5 for 2 hours for 27 dollars. Great rainy day activity and rarely crowed. Enjoy it while it lasts

It's sad that the only place they have candlepin bowling is in New England because it is so much fun compared to regular bowling. This place is quite old, but still has charm. Be sure to bring cash because they don't take credit cards. There is an ATM on premises.

walking into the Norwood bowling alley, a local and supposedly "fun" place, my friends and I were looking to enjoy ourselves. Luckily my friends and I can ignore ignorant and rude people and still have a good time. After being rudely greated at the counter by an old woman with an awful haircut, she told our group to head downstairs. It was there that we found a single alley. However, to each alley only 6 people can play and there were 8 people in our group. This was when we went over to a booth where two alleys were open. I'm not sure if this was against the rules of bowling curtesy but the old man at the desk downstairs surely thought so. He basically yelled at me, and made me feel very stupid. And then proceeded to call his boss downstairs. Both of them were extremely rude and treated as all like we were idiots. So I suggested we go to a different alley. This is when I was told that she "didn't like my attitude". At the least, if there was an option to give this alley 0 stars I would have. You don't attract customers by being miserable people. Thanks for time

Very nice place to go bowling. A nice old school and vintage theme goes good with the bowling alley. Prices are very low and affordable that it's so gentle on your wallet.

Been going here since I was a kid. My grandfather worked here when he was young setting pins. It has that yesteryear type feel, which I like.

I take small children there for a bowling program sponsored by the Recreation Dept. The teacher thru the Rec dept are fantastic with children. The 2 employees that run the bowling alley are miserable towards the children.

The people who run it were born trillions of years before the Big Bang and it is way to expensive to bowl there.

I'm in a league. It's dated but the prices are great and the ownership is very nice. Candelpin bowling is much more enjoyable and challenging than 10 pin. It needs to make a comeback.

This place was such a great surprise. Nice old school candlepin bowling, no frills, no fancy extras, semi-automatic scoring. Great price for a family night out. The owner was a really nice guy too and told us some stories!

Love it, love it! Everything from the bad 70's carpet to the lighthouse motif designs to the stale smell of old cigarettes to the wooden pins and throwback vending machines! This place doesn't have to pretend it is a flashback to the yesteryear of bowling and leagues and when this was the king of amateur sports. This place is the same place it probably was back then and has not changed and you know what, who cares! It is great the way it is. From the outside it doesn't look like much, old brick building, no windows and you would never know it was a bowling alley. However once you step inside, it takes you back to a time when things were simpler, no iPhone, no internet, no text or email, etc. and another thing, it's cash or check only. Don't try and compare this to Kings or Splitsville down the street since there is no comparison. Kings is the modernized bowling alley complete with booze and flashiness. Guess what, Kings and Splitsville also have crowds, a disorganized staff and are both small and you can barely get a lane (see my other reviews of both places). This place has 36 lanes some upstairs and some downstairs and it is all Candlepin (real wooden pins - typically New England) and even has raised bumpers for the kids and even a ball assist for littler kids. Plus the prices are cheap ($1 for shoes and $12 a game) and the staff is cool and helpful. Sure there was an occasional jam from the pinsetter and it held up the game a bit and the shoe rentals are old, but it didn't matter and was expected. This is an old place with old furnishings and old lanes and balls and seats even an old arcade etc. You come here to have fun and have a no stress game. I would highly recommend this place and not only that, I will be coming back every few weeks since this is a new fun place to bowl! You can even have birthday parties here and they have a special room and everything!

The best bowling alley around. Also the hardest lanes, so don't be sad if you don't do well! I average probably 10 lower here than anywhere else, but it's a great place, good crowd. And if you go at night, Johnny will be behind the counter, and he is THE MAN.

John Zingg

I've seen happier faces in a lobster tank. God forbid the old hag at the counter had to do her job and spray a pair of shoes down. That's all you clowns do. Give out shoes and hand out a piece of paper and pencil. Needless to say I took my wife and kids out for pizza instead. Place sucks!!!!

Dusty Hall

Norwood Sport Center is a great place for candlepin bowling. There are plenty of lanes and the prices are extremely fair. We had a company outing here after work and they were very accommodating and happy to have us. I can't wait to go back with my kids!

Service there is TERRIBLE. The two people who run the place are simply miserable. At one point the woman got so angry at us because we "didn't tell her we needed to two lanes" for our group of 8 people (even though we did) she slammed her hand on the desk like a little 4 year old. Do not go to this place. They are fun suckers.

Nick Coleman

This is my favorite place in Massachusetts. It's like a bowling alley and a great dive bar had a baby!

Rosemary Harrington

I have been there twice with my grandsons 2 & 3 at the time. Both times there were women on the counter. My daughter in law and son went there once with my grandson the 2 year old and a "gentleman" and I use the term sarcastically was on the counter. He was extremely rude and told them the 2 year old was too young to bowl there! When my son said he had been there before. The man became very irrate and said he was the owner and no "2 year old" was going to bowl there!!

Steven Bettencourt

Chad Daniels

the people that work there are rude
