I always have a good time at Academy Lanes. Whether I'm going out with friends or go with a group of adults with disabilities as part of my job, Academy Lanes is always pleasant and accommodating. The staff are friendly and responsive. It's a great place for families.

The Pros: The place was clean and well kept. The lanes were in good condition, as were the balls. The prices are well within reasonable. The shoes are clean and well maintained. Glowbowl is always fun, and the price for that is reasonable as well. The Cons: The scoring system is from the late 80s, and is a full manual computer system. You'll be counting pinfalls yourself. The Bottom Line: Well worth it for the price, as long as you don't mind counting your own pinfalls.

The computer screens may say top of the line scoring system, but I assure you it's from the nineties. You have to enter your own score after your turn (gasp). That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy myself tho, they have small bowling balls, 10-pin bowling. We had a great time and ordered a GF pizza from a nearby Pizza shop that delivers to the alley. They have a nice arcade too and even serve alcoholic beverages at night (bottled drinks only).

I hadnt been there in years and was surprised it was still open. I had a great time with friends and family. Only complaint I have is the lack of Air condition. Other than that its a great place to go to have fun

What can one say? It's Academy Lanes. A legendary destination. Handicap leagues on Fridays at 5:00, where one can hang out and volunteer or simply be friendly with those less fortunate.

This place never changes. Good old fashion bowling. They have glow bowling and stuff like that, but the place hasn’t changed since I was a kid.

It would be nice if there was a separate party room for kids. We were placed right next to a child party which was unexpected. The balls did seem outdated causing some weird rolls. Overall a fun time with friends for a winter sunday night, but would not have a childs party here.

If you like candlepin bowling, this is the place-- it's one of the biggest candlepin centers in the world, if not the biggest. Nothing but candlepin lanes, and they've got "glow blowing" with disco lights and plain bowling, league nights, etc. There's a tiny arcade with a pinball machine and a video game or two.

Vintage atmosphere, friendly staff and fellow bowlers. Small closet serves beers, and the beer lady remembers everyone's name, very impressive when your bowling team has a rotation of 8 people. Men's bathroom is always gross, not sure about ladies room. Some arcades for the kiddos. League is $16/week which is my most expensive hobby, but it's an excuse to see friends, and nothing better going on in the winter.

They are nice and polite. Wasnt a wait to bowl which is better than a place I tried to go earlier in the week that had an hour and a half wait. Price reasonable. Just not super modern. They do have the option of pay by string in regular lighting or glow bowling which you pay by the hour.

Went here many times as a child and just recently visited fort he first time in about 20 years. Place hasn't changed too much. It was the first time I saw glow-bowling there. Overall a fun experience, although the scoring system is a real throwback. It took us a little while to get the hang of the scoring system and how everything is manually entered in, but once you get it, it's not bad at all. Most of the candlepin balls are in decent enough condition, but there are a few that have large chips and should be removed. Will probably return at some point if I'm in the are.
