My daughter-in-law had a birthday party there. They were set up in the common walkway instead of in a dining room or area set aside for groups. There were 25+- people there and only 3 tables so most of us had to stand. The common walkway was wide enough to accommodate some separate tables and chairs, but apparently that idea never occurred to anyone. We were sitting at a table eating pizza and we were asked to get up because we weren't at the designated area for our party. WHAT??? We were three seniors and ASKED TO MOVE?? Laughingly enough, no one sat there after we got up. Now for the food; don't bother. It's edible only by the walking dead. That being said, if you have a celebration of any kind, this place is not the venue you should choose.

This place got updated this year and it is a blast now. Bowling has fun interface for making the scorecard entertaining, and the addition of arcade and laser tag will allow for a full afternoon or evening of fun. Great for families.

Don't expect the kitchen to get your order correct or cooked to the correct doneness. Fryed fish came out very dry and over cooked last time. My friends hot dog was completely charred on one side. So bad it was not edible but was closer to being charcoal. I have been there to eat a few times with friends. They have never cooked everything correctly. We joke about what we think will be bad/wrong while waiting for the food to come out. Sometimes all the bowling lanes are in use and it's unclear on how they decide who gets the next open lane.

Poor customer service. Only seemed interested in serving large groups and birthday parties. The bowling lanes did seem to be well taken care of. The food itself is well made and, the arcade is not well managed, I would not recommend this bowling alley. For those people you are planing on going alone; especially to only play in the arcade find, somewhere else to go.

Very fun to bowl on weekends! $18 for unlimited bowling. Drinks and food are like restaurant pricing. They have great pizza! Fun place for family and for friends.

We were blown away by how amazing this facitily was at hosting a birthday party for our 8 year old son! Communication leading up to his party was amazing and then when we arrived our party area was all set up and ready to go. Lauren, our hostess was PHENOMENAL! She went over every tiny detail with us and stuck to the schedule 100%. The attention to detail by all staff was incredible. The venue is spotlessly clean and top of the line. The arcade was amazing and we will definitely be back to give laser tag a try! The cost was incredibly affordable and what we got for our money was perfect. The hand written card from Lauren sent via the mail the week after his party to our son was the cherry on top of this awesome experience. The words "that was my best birthday EVER!!" were uttered numerous times that day and days following. Well done Spare Time!

I attended my daughter's birthday party at spare time in Portland. She loves to go there and play laser tag and play the video games. She enjoys bowling and they have nice aids to help young children Bowl with the large balls. There was a point in the party when the bowling alley turned on the disco lights and the kids all started dancing. It was hilarious. I don't remember a birthday party with quite so much dancing. After the birthday party I asked my daughter if she had a good time she said it was great. She really love the laser tag. I thought the staff was really attentive. They kept showing up and making sure everyone had what we needed. It seems like the food came out when it was supposed to though I honestly wasn't involved in ordering the food. I think there could have been a little more space for the food and gifts for the amount of people they had but the staff did a good job of making do with what they had.

Overall had a fun time but the music videos they played had a lot of raunchy content. There were little kids bowling there and they had it playing on screens on the walls of the alleys and on the tv's over the seating area. Also the lights were really dark and the flashing and flickering lights were a bit overwhelming for me personally. Music was a bit too loud too. I didn't try the arcade or laser tag. All personal preference stuff really thus why I didn't give low stars. I did have a lot of fun.

As a frequent visitor of Spare Time I am saddened to say that tonight will be our last night visiting; we were treated like belligerent children and I have never experienced such a place with low hospitality. We came here for date night. Started with a simple meal and one round of drinks, with the second round to have in hand while we bowled. We were out with another couple so we asked to split an $80 bill in half. One half was $39 and the other was $45. Do the math. It simply doesn’t add up. While we were eating our meal we had to get ourselves our napkins and remind the staff for utensils. The food was great. The service not so much. But we weren’t going to let that ruin our night so we continued to bowl and once we were finished our drinks we went up to get a beer we were “cut off” I’m no rocket scientist but I don’t know anyone who has been cut off after two beers. It’s just not right. So we talked to management and that did nothing whatsoever. It’s such a heartbreaking experience because it truly is a fun place to go. I guess I will be taking my business to other alleys in the area from now on.

I just got home from their service industry night and I had such a great time! Thank you to everyone responsible for putting that together and for everyone who worked it. I'm sure it was a lot of work. We had the nachos which were great and the beer was reasonably priced. Bowling was fun and the lazer tag was awesome! I think I was giggling the whole time. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and clearly dedicated to doing their best. I will definitely be back!! Thank you again.

Great place to bring the kids but just like the other reviewers have said, the wait staff is horrible!! Dismissive and slow. We waited at the restaurant while waiting for lanes to open up. We ordered out apps and it arrived. It was very mediocre. We have to waited for more than 20 mins before we left. A waitress kept saying she will calk our waitress over but never did. There's only 3 or 4 other tables at the restaurant. We tried to pay at the bar and couldn't even do it. All they cared for was pouring shots and beers for the customers at the bar. Oh and we sat by the kitchen and I could see either a male way staff or the cook (dressed in black) using his phone for a good 5 to 10 mins in the kitchen. The wait staff by the alleys were good and attentive though but the ones in the restaurant were horrible

I can't tell you how the laser tag or the other games are, but if you want to bowl just go somewhere else... Every time we try to get a lane, ALL the lanes are taken and we are told to come back after 9pm...Go to Bayside!

It's a good time and the food isn't bad but the arcade and bowling are ridiculously expensive. The arcade games end up costing dollars per play and a couple of games of bowling for two will end up costing you almost 30 bucks.

The food was decent, fries were the best part but the flat bread pizza we ordered was a little burnt. When we went to play laser tag we had an hour wait which was fine we had a large party. However, when our time came another party was allowed to go ahead of us and we had an additional 10 minute wait while they had that party step out, on top of the original hour to play. Overall everyone had fun, but definitely need better communication and could attempt to call people when their time comes to play.

I would choose this over the new place at Maine mall. More bowling lanes, more separation from the arcade games makes in my opinion for a nicer experience regardless of what you are doing. If need to do shopping, perhaps pick the other place. Other than that, spare time is worth your time.

My entire group had a blast ages 18 Months to 25 years old. It was our first time at an arcade with a card to swipe to play and also for keeping our tickets digitally and it was amazing! We can't wait to come back! The prices were so reasonable we played for an hour on just sharing $20 with a group of 5 people. Great selection of prizes to trade in for afterwards too! Thank you for a great time in a clean space! Next time we will try bowling too.

Our time here was ruined thanks to the bar tender. All four of us had meals from the restaurant and one drink each. Towards the end of our meal we requested a second drink to carry over to bowl. Our check came to $80 and some change. We asked her to split it down the middle and we got one check for $45 and one for $39. What? We said ok fine and moved on to bowl. After bowling for about an hour and finishing our second drinks, we went back to the bar for a third only to find out that we had been cut off for no apparent reason, as we were clearly not even close to drunk. We spoke with the manager who "had a chat" with someone at the bar, not the bar tender, and ultimately nothing was resolved. Our night was ruined and so was our opinion of Spare Time.

Great place to spend a Monday night! They have a great all you can bowl special which can fill up any uneventful evening. Also, if you go during football season, Monday night football is played on projector screens above the lanes so there are two sources of entertainment!

I just had my son's 10th birthday party there. I had called a week and half in advance and set the date and time all up. I had to pay a deposit which was fine. When me and my party arrived for the party they didn't have the time I was told and nothing was set up. They had to set my party up and get everything together while we waited. We also had gotten an additional lane for adults which staff WAS NOT clear on exactly how pricing went so we ended up paying way more then we had thought we were going to have to! The young girl that hosted our party was awesome helped us with anything and always had a smile! Having a birthday party there Is NOT CHEAP! if parents are willing to pay a large amount of money for a party the place should have everything together and be way more organized then they were! I was very disappointed in how unprepared they were for my party considering they had so much time to get it all together. And they are the ones who gave me the time options but didn't have the right time.down for some reason?? I will not ever have a birthday party there EVER AGAIN but the place was definitely clean and fun. A good place to bowl and be at on a rainy day not such a good spot to spend as much money as they charge for parties. Definitely not worth all the money they charge!

This bowling alley is not what it used to be. It is been redesigned and revamped into one of the most high tech, coolest, hangouts in Portland. It has a bar/club atmosphere, a kid-friendly arcade, and big ball bowling For enthusiasts of all ages. They have side rails that pop-up automatically for your children's turns, and then go back down for your turns, and ramps for children and elderly so you don't need a running start to touch the ball down to the lane nicely.

My one complaint is that the toilets are really obnoxious and scared my youngest kid, but overall highly recommend for other families!!

My daughter and I checked out the arcade/games section yesterday. It was really cool. There are no coins to be used. You out your money on your own personal swipe card and play all the game that way. For the games that give you tickets towards prizes, there are no physical tickets, the machines automatically add the tickets to your swipe card!! Its a very cool concept. Every time you swipe your card at a game, it will give you your remaining balance and there are also ATM like machines that show you how many tickets you have and you can also reload your cards on the ATM machine as well. Only complaint I would have, which is a minor one, is I wish there were more arcade type games. Regardless, I liked it a lot and my 12 year old daughter absolutely loved it!! We will be going back real soon!

I am an avid bowler and I would not recommend this bowling alley at all to league bowlers. They company that owns this establishment hates leagues and caters to open bowlers more than the garunteed money they get from the leagues.

Was told over the phone and email I could call 30 min to an hour before arrival and reserve lanes or be placed on a waiting list then when I called to reserve or be put on a waiting list I was told they don't do that. Then after I arrived I was told I could only have 1 lane I needed at least 8 bowlers to get 2 lanes I was less than pleased and everyone around me knew it

Over an hour wait for bowling. Wouldn't get served water for my son that thirsty because we didn't have a lane. When we finally got a lane, I asked for server 3 times, still nothing. Allow outside drinks if you aren't going to serve me.

So bad. We came in the afternoon after calling at 9am to try to make a reservation because it's a 1 hour and 20 min drive. Couldn't make a reservation totally fine. But we also asked about the other side of the lanes and no one told us there was a wedding today. So when we arrived and there were only 8 lanes in total available we were concerned it would take a long time to be able to bowl since we had a group of 7 and needed two lanes. Fortunately we didn't get that far because we left after our lunch. The food is really good, if you like sweet potato fries definitely get them, wish I could tell you about the pizza but the server never put it in. The whole staff seemed disinterested and and slow. It just suckedand we were all so excited. Theres a few other bowling allies in the area I would suggest trying them instead.

My review is based on my experience at their arcade which is small. I didn't bowl, drink at the bar, or eat the food. They have the audacity to charge $1 to use most of the machines. Some games even require $2. I'm frustrated because the racing game was broken you couldn't shift using manual mode. The skiball machine ate my money which is ridiculous considering they have cards you can load money on.

I loved Spare Time, until I went there today. We called ahead to get on the waiting list and we're treated poorly and told no. Got there and had an hour wait to be scolded, shushed, and snapped at by the man that seemed to be in charge. While we waited, we got a drink that took us 50 minutes to order due to only having one waitress/bar tender/food runner. She's a champ for handling all that with a smile and for dealing with an a$$ of a manager!

The bowling alley has flashy lights and music. My kids love the laser tag games and arcade. We have been to several birthday parties there as well and they do a nice job. Friendly staff, and very clean establishment.

Very good environment. Lazer tag setup very well, enjoyed thoroughly. The arcade with the point card system is also a breath of fresh air compared to the clunky tickets that always need to be replaced. One note: the color spinner game is HORRIBLY rigged. Don't even try it... Like I know arcade games, and this one is particularly bad.

Was not happy with the customer service one bit from the bartender. I’ve worked in customer service my entire career and this was no way to handle it. I ordered a mixed drink and when I took the first sip I tasted very little alcohol in the drink. I had everyone at my table taste it and even the girl who doesn’t drink said it tasted like straight juice. I politely went back to the bartender and asked if she could throw a little more in there (enough so I could taste it) and she (rudely) said “if you want a double I have to upcharge you”. I said “well I’m sorry but there’s not even a single in here.” She said “well I made it so I know there is.” I ended up paying for a double but she proceeded to then overpour. So now it was too strong. I even went up to our waitress and explained that i was charged twice and she said “there’s nothing I can do”. I feel like she should have offered to remake my drink instead of charging me double when I never asked for a double, just a properly made mixed drink. Not to mention, her attitude was awful.

Nice and updated but tables are to close when you get people on both sides bowling. Arcade prices are too high!!!
