I've been here twice and both times it was because of a Groupon deal. Though the deal was good, the regular prices are atrocious for bowling, especially considering how poor the service is. The front desk people are rude, the alley is small and the prices are high. It's a shame there are so few bowling alleys anymore, but if they're all doing business like this place, I'm not surprised.

Old. School. Cool. Great place with minor flaws but people are cool and bowling is meant to be the way it is at Fireside.

One of the only Chicago punk landmarks still standing... Long live the Fireside Bowl

David Griffith

The alley was well oiled and the staff was very nice. One issue, however, was that the balls kept getting stuck, and would not come down and back. After countless times at fixing it, we were issued a new lane with the same issue, but not at the severity as it was before. Luckily, the man behind the counter was nice enough to give us an extra half an hour in addition to the time spent fixing the lanes. It is a great place with a nice atmosphere, and if your lane works, can be a lot of fun alone or with friends and family.

It's a Chicago institution. Not much I can add to what many have probably already said. It's old school. The scores look to be tallied by Apple II computers. The owners are great and treat everyone well. The bathrooms could use an upgrade.

Driest lanes I've ever thrown on. Nearly unplayable. An overall very shady establishment which is why I like it.

The owner is quite the character. Bartender is slow, but get over yourselves. This isn't a place to rush. Take your time like he does!

Came in here an hour and a half before it was supposed to close and we were told we couldn't bowl because there were not enough people bowling and they were going to close in a half hour, despite there being six of us going and we were going to use 2 Lanes, in addition to the 5 people already using a lane and the couple drinking at the bar. We asked if we could bowl for the half hour until they said they were going to close (still an hour and a half earlier than they usually close) and they said no. Not sure why this unkempt bowling alley rather close than take in any additional revenue they can but they can be assured that at least 6 people from the area won't be giving them any money any time soon.

This place has such a cool vibe. Loved it! It was very busy though, so maybe call in advance to see if you can reserve a lane or if lanes are open (if that's a thing they do)

When I think of a hole in the wall bowling alley, this is one of the last few places that doesn't have black lights and a 90s interior. I think the best part of this bowling alley is the fact that you have to change your game based on the lane you are on at the time, and things get really interesting when it rains outside!!!

Artem Ozerov

Hole in the wall kind of place

Old but a classic bowling alley. Come for the charm and the newly upgrade jukebox! Great people and reasonable prices.

Jisoo Kim

cheap and chill place to bowl. pool table at the bar

Cassandra Doman

Good place to bowl. Expensive beer though - $13 for a pitcher of Miller!

Dennis Gonzalez

Crystal Hendricks-Kretzer

Fun little divey bowling alley. We always have a great time here.

Ricardo Hernandez

The crew there is AWESOME but the lanes could use some work well not the lane but the the way the lanes work sometimes it takes forever for lanes to reset but other than that great place to be and have a great time!!!

Kenneth Smith

Bowling Alley itself was old school, had a very classic feel to it, and that was it. Drinks were expensive, while sitting at the bar waiting to place order, the Bartender would often ignore us. He was overwhelmed sure, but he continually ignored us for people who just walked up to the bar to order. It was very clear we were waiting for drinks.... others waiting at the bar has this issue too. The one guy who ran the lanes and gave out the shoes was very short with my team and I as well. If you are... Not from the area... I do not recommend this spot.

Angela Leone

A fun alley, old school feel. Don't expect anything to feel corporate or chain.

Quality lanes. Old school bowling alley feel, which make the electronic system a bit dated, but great experience overall. You'll find a nice array of balls to choose from, not the multi-colored plastic sets most alleys have.

Simple/old-school bowling alley with particularly reasonable prices. If you're looking for a good place to go bowling and don't need a lot of amenaties, fire side bowl is excellent.

A friend brought a large group here for her birthday and paid for bowling and drinks until 11:30pm. This is a lot of business that they wouldn't have otherwise had. At 11:20 the bartenders refused to serve us any longer and stated that we "started early". Nobody was notified when we arrived that this would be the case. Due to the disappointing communication and customer service I would not recommend this place to a friend.

Beers could be cheaper, but it's as good as any place to throw rocks in the city.

Love this place! Proper low-key classic bowling experience. Decent beer selection and tasty whiskeys. Lanes are $40/hr. Shoes are like $2? IIRC. Overall not bad. Wish the jukebox had TouchTunes but it's got a decent tune assortment. Also check out the pool table but avoid the jukebox in the bar itself. Seems to be broken.

Thomas Jenkins

Classic no frills bowling with attached bar.
