Spare time was totally renovated be about 4 years old. They have a VIP area for private parties and functions. It has 5 lanes and it's own bar. The game room was expanded and they offer laser tag and have about 70 games to play. It is a very well run operation, very professional and the employees are polite and well trained. There is also a full bar and food menu. There are bands on the weekends and the place rocks! A wonderful destination for family fun or a date.

Good fun for the whole family. My wife and i took our three kids with my cousin his wife and their three kids, and the kids had a blast. We all enjoyed the bowling and then headed over to the arcade room. The kids didnt want to leave!

We only did the arcade side. I would have given it a between 3 and 4 star, but my nephew loved it. The laser tag room was really fun, and they had enough other games that we rarely had to wait, outside of laser tag. Too bad there wasn't more people, because that room could easily have been a 5v5 fun battle. Prices were normal for this type of place.

Spare time is a very nice place to bowl and have fun with friends and family and also bowl competitively. One thing I would suggest is if you guys could oil your lanes more often because I can tell the spin rotation is different on my ball when there is either too little or too much oil. Thank you spare time your bowling alley is very fun to play at.

it was friendly staff where attended not busy at the time of visit ..price if they can be a litle lower there turn around could increase .very clean .for me it is must-have a clean and neet and well decorated...let's remember we bring our children's to have and we don't need to take home nothing that will make then sick ..the Bothroom are well illuminated ...the kids where at e z i was impressed how this small details where well thought out........ my personal opinion...... i will bring then continuously enjoying there time without a second thought .... 5 STAR'S

Great staff and clean establishment. This is the only place to have a child's birthday. Bowling, laser tag, video games, and everything else a kid needs for a memorable day. We have been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. They handle everything.

It was fun, haven't been here in a very long time, looks like they've cut down on the lanes they used to have and added an arcade. The tables in-between the lanes we're very clustrophobic, hard to move in and out when there's 2 parties forced into 1 tiny area

I won a bowling party for 8 ppl here & it was great. Sara was very attentive and made sure all went well. They extended it to 10 ppl when additional friends arrived and I will most def return for more fun!

We visited 01/19. It had began to snow and it was pretty dead inside. We sat at a booth and waited about 5 minutes with 2 employees passing us. I went up to the bar and asked if a waitress was coming over and he said no we sent the server home for the night because of how slow it is. Then had a bar patron put his arm around me and ask to sing Happy birthday to him. I don't know if he was over served or just a bit too friendly but it was very unwelcomed. I then took two menus and returned to my seat. Walked back up to the bar to place my order and mid order a girl came in between the bartender and I saying her lost phone has a location saying it's here. He dropped talking to me and started helping her. Mid order. The other bartender completed my order and asked for ID's. My Florida license seemed to be an issue because I had my replacement shipped back to me with my current CT address on it. She told me they are ok with it but that if I come again she can't guarantee other bartenders would let it slide. I am 31 with a valid license. She informed me last call is in an hour . It was 10pm which I thought was weird seeing as how online said they were open until 1am. My salad came with almost no dressing. Just a tiny little drizzle. My bf's burger was overcooked but very good size. He enjoyed it. We had a few more drinks ,which were prepared correctly,all the while with a security team looking at us and searching around for the missing phone. The staff expressed blatantly that they didn't want to be there because of the snow and that they were closing early and people kept coming in despite the sign they made for the door. If you are closing because of inclimate whether I suggest you change it online. It's a shame people drove in dangerous conditions to come there only to be greeted rudely and feel unwelcomed. 75$ meal and drinks and we basically felt like we were being rude for keeping them from closing at 11. We bought a 10$ play card n did a quick round of Jurassic Park and left. For the money we spent we won't be going back.

We were there on a Saturday for my nephew's birthday party, the place was hopping! Several parties and lots of kids with everyone seeming to have a good time. I can't tell you about the arcade room or the paintball area though others told me they are nice, but the bowling alleys seemed well taken care of. We had our own helper for the party & she served the kids their drinks, pizza & cake (I believe my niece brought the cake). The reason for 4 stars is I thought some of the videos playing on the back wall were inappropriate for the age of the kids attending the parties, maybe they could be more discreet w/which videos they play for different ages.

Rented the VIP room for my mother-in-law's birthday. Excellent space with private bar and 4 private lanes. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. Good time had by all from small children to teenagers to adults.

Scores for you, plus all kinds of cooky picture animations while bowling. The only bowling alley I've ever been to that actually organizes their balls effectively by weight/hole size. The drink service, however, is pretty bad - I think they're understaffed - we would've drank more if we'd seen the waitress! Also - why not out prices on the drink menu? It's not like they're crazy expensive...

I went here for laser tag and it was a blast! The staff in charge were really chill and helpful. The actual laser tag arena was two floors and SO MUCH FUN. It’s only about $6 a game and you can do multiple games in a row, teams or free for all. Felt like I was in a video game. I would definitely go again and I highly recommend it.

I asked the lady in red at the desk how much it cost, because they told me to just go play and ring it up at the end. She says 5.25 a game and 4$ per pair of shoes, instead of a total price. So I ask to confirm “ For me and my girlfriend its 8$ plus 5.25 per game?” And she says yes. Turns out its 5.25 per person per game, so I had to pay double what I was expecting. This is a nice bowling alley, shame you employ shady retail trickery to squeeze a few extra bucks out of me.

First off, I bowled in the VIP lanes on a Friday night. Lanes were nice. Equipment was in good shape. Now you'd expect, having paid extra for the VIP room, that the service would be superior, or at least on par with the rest of the establishment. However, no one was attending the bar in the VIP room. Wait staff never came to take my order. I had to go chase down wait staff twice. Overall I was left very underwhelmed by the experience. This is vastly different from the Spare Time in Austin, TX which was a much more positive experience. Service was always stellar. If you want service at Spare Time Vernon, I'd suggest skipping the VIP and just getting a lane close to the bar.

Spare time is awesome. I go there often for their food and drinks and on a night that I feel like doing some bowling it's always a good time. They got everything you need to bowl a frame or two and if that's not what you're there for there's also laser tag and a game arcade New and improved. Everyone there is very nice. Live bands and karaoke if you're in the mood so I'm not sure if that's still going on the only way to find out check it out yourself I promise you won't be disappointed.

I've had great experience here, the food is delicious and the games are always entertaining. Few years back, twisted ankle from the edge near the tables to the bowling area. Besides that issue, its a great place. Wish there was a more cleaner and friendlier look on the outside though.

Really nice and modern bowling ally. It has a full arcade that is nice to have while you're waiting for lanes to open up. The shoes are newer and don't make you feel gross when you put them on. The bowling balls range from 6 pounds to 16 and they all have small to xl hand holes which makes finding the right size easy. It's a nice way to spend a few hours on a date to have a good time!

Wow, this place sure has changed from when I was younger. My niece had her 6th birthday party here, and it was awesome. Our party patrol officer (sorry can't remember her name) was excellent! Polite, helpful, and all around a great person. They now have a huge arcade, and laser tag! The nachos supreme were delicious, we ended up ordering two. We brought in a big unicorn cake for the party and our party patrol officer helped slice it up, as we forgot utensils, she was quick to clean, and kept an eye on wandering children. All in all we had a wonderful time. Great place for a party, oh and the beer was great too!

Looking for an awesome good old playtime entertainment place for a party, the family or to hangout with your friend? Visit Spare Time Vernon, 350 Talcottville Rd, Vernon, CT 06066. They have bowling for all ages, laser tag, a large arcade room and a sports grille restaurant all in one one place. Nice and friendly staff. Friendly crowd(s) of visitors. Food is reasonably good. Bowling for the young kids is enjoyable with the bumpers and ball slides, for everybody else it's game on. Arcade room games are played with cash loaded cards which also get loaded with your game winning points. Game prices range from 50 cents to $3+, game payout is fair, jackpots are always loaded so shoot for the stars. Laser tag games are by reservation and run about 15 minutes.

Had a fantastic time in spite of who I was there with. My husband (soon to be ex) was a drunk and obnoxious to the staff and they handled him and the situation with grace. The manager stayed professional and understood that I was embarrassed by my ex's actions and he made sure not to include me when he told him not to return to the facility. In fact the staff said they felt bad that I had to leave with him.

Just recently brought my son to a birthday party there. I haven’t been there in years...since they only had bowling available, and what an awesome transformation! The birthday was on a Sunday, there seemed to be lots of birthdays going on at once and yet there was plenty of room to move around. It wasn’t overcrowded to the point where no one could play certain games in the arcade. The laser tag looked like so much fun! To our surprise it featured my sons favorite things, dinosaurs! The place is kept very clean too which makes me a happy camper. The birthday hosts were great! With all the kids it can get hectic but the host for this party provided great service. I hope to have my sons birthday there this year!

We've been going here for years. City Sports Bar & Grill. Newest menu is great! Ordered the burger bites! Terrible! Microwaved! Outside was gray, inside was medium. Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day! Tough to bite, then nothing but water and grease came out! Burned our mouths! I hope it was one time thing out of desperation. Other apps were good as usual! Don't microwave! Only Ted's in Meriden can steam a burger!

Great experience with many lanes and a clean venue. We upgraded out experience to the VIP room which was great if you don't want to be near a bunch of kids. Definitely recommend a trip to the bar as well since the bar tender was friendly and knowledgeable.

We had our sons birthday party here and it was blast. Very clean and spacious, the staff was so nice and handled the group perfectly!!! The kids were allowed to let loose in the arcade/game area while waiting to play laser tag. The lounge was right there for the parents to get refreshments and the pizza served for the party was pretty good. It was a great time for everyone!!!

Clean and fun place! I just don't like when they turn off lights and start to play videos. Screens are right in the direction where your shooting! It's very distracting and annoying to me and apparently to another player next lane over. Florescent lights can be very bothersome too.

A huge Entertainment palace with a VIP room, laser tag, full bar, competition, and an arcade. The staff is very good. The accommodation for your bowling is good with enough variety of balls. Got the right size shoe, too. Prices are reasonable across the entire complex. A great place for a date or to hang out and unwind with a few friends!

Went for a birthday bowl dinner, didn’t bowl had drinks and a snack was charged $89 for a $20 bill. Called and the manager decided to mansplain to me exactly how cards work and that what’s pending is not what’s charged. He also felt it important to let me know that he’s been in this business for a long time and that’s how it works. Here’s what I know, I never had a tab open and I only ordered my food and a 3 shots, paid separately and my card was only taken once so how would I be charged that? If you ask me that’s shady business.

Much nicer ambiance since the renovation. Booths and tables near the lane are a nice touch. Much more inviting for social gatherings. They have music and lights that are typical for most bowling alleys. Pizza is adequate but nothing special. Burgers are good.
