Food here was decent, bowling was terrible. Our lane broke every 3-5 frames. It was so frustrating we asked if we could just quit and not be charged for our second game. They said no and just continued to try and fix the lane every 5 minutes causing us to have an absurdly long game.

Don't think this restaurant is not worthy because it's associated with a bowling alley. Friendly staff, great service, and phenomenal tasting steaks. Definitely going back next time in town to try something else off their menu. Highly recommended!

Ruined my day. I ordered a steak dinner at the counter but several staff said many times that it was ok if i sat in the dining room .. making me feel welcome and comfortable maybe as the dining room was almost empty at 6pm. Though i already left a good tip at the counter, I was planning to tip the dining room staff for their kindness. I did move to accomodate a larger group about 3/4 through my meal, profusely apologizing again for sitting in the dining room As I apologized to a fourth wait staff, the only gray haired waitress, she said to me, 'if you are on vacation, your brain must be on vacation too!' (Advised the manager, who said that this was the hostess. They need a new hostess!!!! ) Ruined my meal and my day. I'm not on vacation. I had a long hard work day hoping to treat myself to a nice steak dinner. I last ate there a month prior though earlier. Staff was just terse then. The back alley has good food, but unprofessional staff can ruin it in a flash. Horrible experience. Avoid Back Alley. Recommend Sage Restaurant early or with Reservations for dinner for both great food and great dining experience as great staff. Nice servers and hostess. Sage is closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Who knew this gem of a restuarant was back here. We have been coming here for years and we really enjoy Tony's service the most. The prime rib is amazing along with all the specials such as Ahi, swordfish, pork chops, and other dishes. The kids menu is great, too.

Great food. Great servers. But busy. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it is worth it. All items on the menu are good so order anything. Prime rib is a specialty and is on the menu Friday and Saturday nights but they do run out. All of the fish items are good. Hit food good beer great cocktails. What more could u ask for. Oh yeah. When you first hear of going to a bowling alley for food, you don’t think it will be very good or impressive. Back Alley is not your typical bowling alley cuisine! It is absolutely phenomenal! 3 locals recommended it to us and we were very skeptical, but we figured “3 locals can’t all be wrong”. The restaurant is newly renovated, clean, and has one of the coolest murals on the back wall (see picture). The food selection is premier and fresh! Good selection with daily specials. The service was impeccable! Tony was amazing—so attentive and kind. We were here for 3 days and this the number 1 restaurant of our long weekend in Bishop, California.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Burgers were excellent!! Staff was very nice and helpful too. I didn't bowl during my visit but the lanes looked good and well kept. It is a little hidden and a little difficult to access from the main road.

The place was great, I waked in and asked for burgers and fries. I had a long drive, a long day and was so tired and hungry. The folks working there were so kind and checked on me all the time. Whenever I’m in a new town it’s hard to eat out because of my food restrictions. They were so accommodating! Stop by for the best burgers and bomb fries you’ll ever eat!!!

We ate here at the recommendation of the reception staff at the hotel next door and were honestly a but skeptical about eating in a bowling alley... but it was great! Almost every table was full (and waiting for food) when we walked in, but we still made it out in less than an hour. Dinners come with soup/salad, your choice of starch, steamed veggie, and meat. My husband had the new york strip steak. It was a VERY generous portion and perfectly cooked. I had the fried chicken and it is some of the best I've had. The skin is extra crispy without a lot of coating and the meat was juicy and sweet. The serving size was half a chicken. The baked potato was well cooked with tender skin and perfect texture. The salad was standard iceberg with some toppings and dressing. The soup (pepper steak) was house made, meaty and very good. Overall, this is a great place to eat. Staff were very friendly as well. Everything was very well priced as well. Our bill for all that food and iced teas was $36.

My favorite restaurant in Bishop, Whiskey Creek, recently closed so I looked online for advice and decided to try Back Alley. I like the funky décor -- yes, the restaurant is part of a working bowling alley -- and the lively mix of locals and tourists. Early this week I had the salmon which was fresh and simply prepared with a fruit relish and a baked potato side. Strike. I had a similar meal today and the salmon was old and fishy and the asparagus overcooked and tasteless. Gutter ball. My recommendation: go with the hamburger as other reviewers suggest.

Good bowling, good food, fantastic soups, best hangout bar (or party if you liked bowling) in town. The dining area is partially separated so while it might not be a fancy dinner, you won't be overwhelmed by the sounds of bowling all the time.

Great place, friendly people (both customers AND staff) and an all-around hoot. We went for a laugh (not really big bowlers) but ended up staying for hours chatting with the guys next to us who were practicing for the local league night. Super fun time.

We were referred to the 'bowling alley' for Dinner on Christmas Eve by the Creekside Staff and the gal at Giggle Springs Market. Normally I wouldn't be persuaded to have a special Christmas Eve dinner at the bowling alley, but when you're in a small town it's best to listen to the locals. We had a fantastic Prime Rib dinner with excellent service by Joe. It was warm and cozy and friendly and Tom (owner) stopped at our table to wish us a Merry Christmas and offered Pumpkin Pie on the house. Best Prime Rib and Best Xmas Eve EVER! Thank You. We will see you again soon!

They say they are open for lunch and I even called to verify since I was bringing a friend with and we got their only to be told, this is the 3rd time now, they aren’t open for lunch. When I asked why did the person I asked on the phone tell it was open I got....I don’t know. Never going back.

This place changes my perspective of where I can find some good food. Swordfish, lobster, prime rib, steak, burgers and some great appetizers. I ordered the swordfish and was blown away by the flavor. It was prepared perfectly. Very large portion sizes too. We ate lobster and swordfish while bowling. One hell of a date night. Will 100% return next time we are in town.

Surprising menu and food for a bowling alley. We had hoped to get prime rib however they were out by the time we got there. The Spinach Salad was delicious. My husband and I both had the rib eye with baked potato. I was disappointed in the five or six over cooked green beans as the vegetable. The steak was delicious. Mine was perfectly cooked as ordered however my husband's was pretty over cooked - both were ordered as medium rare. Nice relaxed environment, full bar and desserts also available. I would go back.
