The haircuts are good, but the best thing about going to Austin's is chatting with Rod, who always has his finger on the pulse of Beloit. If you want to know the latest news, nothing beats a relaxing half hour in the barber's chair! He does take walk-ins, but it's best to book an appointment in advance - he fills up pretty quick sometimes.

Just a note from owner Rod Gottfredsen: the 2 very poor reviews are from tenants that live above the barber shop. One has never been in the shop and the other one (Harrison aka Harry) has been here once about 10 months ago. Recently we have been at odds to a contract dispute in his lease, thus the poor review.

Not only is Rod an excellent barber, he's great with kids. When it was time for our oldest son's first haircut, we knew exactly where to go. Our second son, who normally screams through haircuts, absolutely LOVES to visit Austin's. Days later, he is still talking about the airplane chair with a propeller that really spins.
