I've been going to Barber Shops for over 50 years and I've never experienced a shop of this caliber ever! What an awesome experience! You are greeted by all barbers and staff soon as you walk in. This is right out of a Tyler Perry movie/play!! My Barbers name is Wathiq (Wah-thick) and he moved to Richmond about 3 years ago from Iraq where he was an accomplished barber in his native country! His talent and skill is exceptional! However, watching all Barbers here, it is obvious that Mr. Taylor is very selective with the talent he employs!! They are all master artists in their trade! While in Wathiq's chair, it can be mesmerizing watching Kevin's talents with a straight razor! Deanna is so gentle and painless as she shapes your facial hair and waxes the hair from your ears! So gentle in fact that I often fall asleep in her chair! My only regret is that I didn't find this shop sooner!! I tell everyone about this awesome shop! It isn't just a hair cut it is an experience! Setup an appointment online a day before. Walked in, and it's a bit awkward and confusing at first because the "desk" is in the middle. Didn't seem like they acknowledged my appointment. But like, they gave me a great haircut and that's all that really matters in the end. I will be setting up a second appointment soon.

I’ve been to Taylor’s several times and always gotten excellent haircuts. I usually do walk-ins and take whichever barber is available, and each barber is excellent, you can’t go wrong. Yesterday I brought my son in for the first time and Wathiq did an incredible job. He could just tell what we wanted and made it happen, easier said than done when working with a 4 year old. Best haircut he’s ever gotten, he’ll be the sharpest looking kid at Preschool for sure!

I went to High Point and I guess they had a new guy cut my hair. He screwed up the edge up by my ear so bad my hair line looked like an action figure. Unfortunately didn’t notice until I got in the car. Wathiq did a great job fixing it and giving me the fade I originally wanted. I wanted to give an even better tip, but I had already been raked over High Point. Taylor’s has a very professional but laid back atmosphere at the shop. I will definitely be back.

I went to Taylor's last Tuesday for the first time. I had been recommended Wathiq by a friend of mine who had been. I accidentally showed up earlier than my appointment time but Wathiq immediately took me. Thoughout the haircut Wathiq gave me a detailed explanation of what he was doing at that given point in time. He also gave suggestions as to what he thinks would look good, I went with them and easily got on of the best haircuts I've had since moving to Richmond 2 years ago. 5 stars is an understatement and I highly recommend Taylor's barbershop as well as Wathiq.

I just moved to RVA and I found Taylor's Barber Shop because of their good reviews but after getting my haircut today I am very suspicious of how legit they are and here's why. I walked in and it immediately smelled like cigarette smoke. The person at the front desk (Bria) was not very welcoming and it turned out she was the person cutting my hair. I could tell she was having a bad day because she barley said anything the entire cut and it seemed like she just wanted to cut my hair and clock out. She didn't seem to have any passion or care. I know a person knows what they are doing when they can look at your hair and have a "vision" or good idea for how to cut it after they ask how you want it but she didn't offer any advice. There was also know use of a razor blade during the cut above the ear or on the neck to get a close cut which I expect from a barber. She also didn't show me how the back looked. The shampoo station was also extremely uncomfortable because they don't have large sinks that fit your head. When I was paying another women checked me out and offered me $5 dollars off if I wrote a review so here it is. Incentivising reviews is extremely unethical and it makes me think a lot of the ones on here are made just to get a discount. It is safe to say I won't be returning.

The atmosphere of the place was that of a high class place(not that it is not). The best part is the prices are not that of a high class cuttery. Taylor's Barbershop managed to for me in a couple of hours before a family member's wedding. Wathiq did an excellent job. I came in looking like a wolfin lumberjack and strolled out looking sharp. This was my first experience getting my beard trimmed up with a straight razor. Smoother than melted butter. With sensitive skin, it's been more than 24 hours later and my skin is still smooth. No irritation. Wathiq gave me a fade that complements my face shape and blended it perfectly with my beard.. I got many great complements. My skin didn't get scraped by his trimmers, either. He definitely knows his craft. If I come through this area again, I'm coming for a cut here. Everyone is dressed sharp, friendly. Kudos to the courteous attendant, I don't want to leave you out. The music selection, the vibe is great. I had a great experience and can't recommend Taylor's enough. Wathiq, you did a great job on my hair, thanks brother! As an airline captain I have walked into barber shops from New York City to LA to San Fran. Without a doubt, the haircut I just received from Wathiq Alakelee was the most professional and "best" looking I have ever had, (I'm 60 yrs old)! If you need to make a perfect first impression for a job interview, presentation or meeting someone, this is where you need to start. Just as important, if you need to continually set the example or a standard for your employees, etc, he should be your personal barber. I do not live here but if I did, he would be mine. This is a haircut you can afford every couple of weeks and is more than worth it!!! You can't put a price on making a good impression.

Such good service here! Very welcoming and inviting atmosphere. I get my hair cut by Wathiq every time, and he nails it! I usually get a fade, while trimming a little off the top (I have curly hair, which occasionally gets a little frizzy when long). Wathiq asks me questions, communicates well, and tends to my exact hair needs. He's literally a pro when it comes to hair. I've searched the Richmond area for years for a perfect barber, and I've finally found one. Most of what I've experienced when it comes to other barbers, is that they tend to rush and not pay attention to the details of the haircut. Wathiq takes his time, which I highly appreciate. From what I've also seen, is that Wathiq is great with a variety of hair types. HIGHLY recommend this shop, as everyone is more than kind and the service is unbeatable. The prices are pretty unbeatable too for the quality of work done. Stop searching and get to Taylor's.

After getting out of the military I decided that I wanted to grow my hair out, but I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with it. I saw Taylor's and decided it was finally time to do something about the mass of hair on my head. Wathiq ended up being my barber and he discussed with me what he thought would be best and even asked my girlfriend if she agreed. Went there this afternoon to get my beard trimmed up, just went there with a picture on my phone of the look I wanted and their man Shomari did a fabulous job. He looked at what I wanted and asked me a few questions, being new to having someone else shape my beard it was nice to have a barber that could put my mind at rest. Took months to grow my beard out and I’ve had others mess it up in seconds. Shomari new what I was looking for and gave me pretty damn close to what I asked, face shape plays a part. I was able to make an appointment very easily both times that I came in. My appointment was with Wathiq. Wathiq is a great barber who takes pride in his craft. Everyone in the shop is very friendly. Good music and great atmosphere. Strongly recommend giving them a shot. I had to wait past my appointment time both times but this is because Wathiq pays attention to the customer in the chair and does not rush through your cut. Go check em out.

My hair grows in a lot of directions, and most other barbers have reacted to it by chopping out the cowlicks, which means that I end up looking bad. Wathiq, though, is a lot better than that. He works with my hair, not against it, and takes his time to figure out exactly what needs to be done. He's a patient, careful barber, and I'm thrilled that he's in Richmond. Taylor's is a great spot overall, too--great atmosphere, great staff, and a fair deal without the pretentiousness that the contemporary barbershop too often indulges in.

After moving downtown, I've solely gone to Taylor's for my haircuts. Firstly, I'll start with the establishment; the service is excellent, scheduling appointments is painless, the environment is clean and friendly - even with good music. Beyond Taylor's, the man I've gone to for the past year is Wathiq. I cannot stress enough his superhuman knack for nailing a haircut. I used to spend $75 a cut at Mango Hair Salon in the west end for half as good a result. He is truly an expert, and deserves all the credit. I don't really do reviews - but this place, and specifically Wathiq, truly deserve the highest regards.
