Excellent. Like an Andy Griffith Show time capsule. Expert cutting with vintage and historical feel. The telephone is an old rotary. Elvis got his hair done here, and the barber has been there for 40 years. Skip the store chains and go here.

Leon Apostolo has been cutting hair for Shepards since 1978, along with Larry it's an all around great experience if you like the old timey Barber Shop feel. Prices are reasonable and the service is great. Barber Shops like this are few and far between, we should all support these small businesses and keep Barber Shops like this alive! I highly recommend Shepard's Barber Shop. By the way it’s the oldest standing Barber Shop in the State of Texas!

My husband and son stopped in here this afternoon for the first time; the first text from my husband was "this is the kind of place I've been looking for!" He loved the atmosphere. Unfortunately, they both came out of Shepard's with their hair completely messed up. My son HAD nice thick hair and they butchered it. My husband was specific and asked that scissors be used on my son's hair - clippers were used. You can see the lines on his head from an uneven cut! They didn't trim around his face or behind his ears at all. My husband was so disappointed with both of their hair cuts that he immediately went to Sport Clips to get them "fixed" the best they could. Now, my son who typically has a good two inches of hair on his head, is shaved damn near to the skin!!! Thank you Shepard's for ruining my son and husband's hair cuts, costing us double for two hair cuts (because they had to go get them fixed) and for costing us 3+ hours of our Saturday. So much for first impressions.

Great service, a little wait time, but it's worth it. This is the oldest barber shop in Texas, a little bit of Small Town, USA. It's a must see! Great hot shaves and hair cuts. Take time to walk around downtown Conroe after your done.

Yes you may have a wait it is a barber shop. GET OVER IT! This is not a salon or a Supercuts. No he does not make appointments it is a walk in first come first serve shop. If you want a man's hair cut come here. Leon is the best barber out there, the only one I let touch my hair, and I'm picky.

This place is run by racist.within the first five minutes I saw the barber and a customer with a confederate flag biker jacket discuss about there liking for trump.I thought ok they just have unpopular opinions.Then they disscused how there was a Latino politician who wasn’t white and had a fake name since it was in Spanish.Then they bashed the Hispanic community.keep in mind I just walked in and I’m Hispanic at least keep your bigotry behind closed doors.So I walked out of there without being rude since I didn’t want to cause any trouble.+ they were no fades given I just saw a munch of bulky looking hair styles being cut with just barber shop equipment definitely would tell you to stay away if you seem like you wouldn’t fit in and your not a racist person.

Oldest barber shop in Texas (seriously, it has the historical landmark)...one of a kind! Hubby gets the close clippers cut and strait razor shave with the hot shaving foam. Best barber shop conversation from the friendliest gentlemen you'll ever meet!

Shepard's Barber shop is the classic small town barber shop that has been around for nearly a century. They opened in 1922! You may have to wait because they are almost always busy but you'll get a classic haircut and neck shave that's well worth the wait.Leon knows how to give a classic men's haircut. Great place!

Leon (the owner, as well as a barber) does great work here! Got another beard trim & a haircut recently & could definitely feel the care he puts unto his work. The atmosphere of the place is old fashioned & manly, and it's been a host to some legends, like Elvis & Roy Harris (so you'll run into some history here too). If you're a man looking for a place to get a trim, I'd reccomend checking this place out. :)

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed getting a haircut. Actually, it's never been anything more than a chore. But for the first time in 22 years I've enjoyed getting my hair cut. When he pulled out the old style blade I admit I got nervous because I've never had the old blade touch up before. But the defined cut that it made is amazing. Thank you Darold! Best barber shop I've been to in the last few years. Great atmosphere, fantastic haircuts, and cheaper than sport cuts. One of the barbers informed me he gets there at 6am and if you call they'll stay a little after 5 to wait for you. They've certainly earned my repeat business.

Been going here since about 1982, and I love it. You get a good, old fashioned hair cut and inevitably feel like you are part of the history of Conroe. This is a barber shop, not a styling place. You walk in, sit down, read the paper or talk with others there, and then when it is your turn you still keep on talking. It is not a wham, bam, thank you ma'am place that most folks go to.

A very nice old school Barber Shop. The staff are very friendly and love to talk. The haircuts are good, but seems rushed at times. This would be due to the wait on some days. The shop gets very busy almost anytime of the day. If you go, expect to wait up to 30 minutes to an hour for a haircut.

I brought my son for his first hair cut. They were so amazing and made sure to save me a lock of hair and filled a certificate. They took his picture and to frame and put on the wall and comp'd the charges because it was the first one. The have been in business since 1922 and will have my business for as long as they are open!!

It is the best place to get a haircut it is so old-fashioned but in a good way I had a straight razor on the back of my neck and after it felt really good so if this had a 10 star rating or 100 star rating I would rate it 100

Love the barbers. They're quite the talkative type, in a good way, of course! Leon is always happy to see familiar faces (so I suggest you become a repeat customer) and the other barbers are the same. They give outstanding cuts, including good military cuts, (to keep in uniform regs) which the barbers are very familiar with. (a few are veterans themselves.) I highly suggest this barber shop. Best one in Texas.
