This Barber Shop belongs to the category of Barber shop.
Just moved to the Dallas area and was having a tough time finding a true barber who takes pride in his work, the team at Brownies is very professional and efficient. They gained a new customer today. Highly recommend.
Ray cut my hair perfectly, and even took care of a nasty cowlick I've been dealing with my entire life. I'll definitely be going back, easily the best barber I've been to.
Great cut! Someone who knows how to fade!
I had the best haircut and beard trim experience at Brownie's. The atmosphere inside the shop is cool as vintage toys and posters fill the space. There was a guy before me getting a haircut that started to feel queasy. After the barber finished his cut he made the man promise to call the shop once he got home to confirm he had made it there alright. That kind of character convinced me to be a regular here for as long as I live in this area. The attention the owner paid to my haircut and beard trim was equal to that of a veteran model builder gluing microscopic pieces together. No hair was left uncut or shaped and I looked great after the cut (even though I always look great anyway). Highly recommend a beard trim here. It gets pretty crowded quickly but the owner will answer calls and let you know how many people are in line.
Got a fade and had my beard trimmed. I used to get my haircut from an old school barbershop in my hometown Tyler, TX until they shutdown. I then started using SportsClips. They were ok for just a haircut. I stumbled across Brownies and I'm sold. Ray who's been doing hair for over 30 years was actively in conversation and did I fantastic cut and beard trim. He did not let me leave without looking great and satisfied. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.
Goood barbershop, but rather expensive
Awesome place to get a haircut. Visiting from out of town and came here after looking at online reviews. Great haircut and a bonus head massage which I learned is their little trade mark they do for their customers!
You will wait 1 hour minimum. It is a good haircut though.
They take their time and do awesome job.
Great place, worth the wait. They take time and care about your cut.
Arrived and greeted promptly seemed welcoming even. I sat and waited through a few cuts before me then when my time came one of the barbers told the other he was going to lunch. I felt like he could've notified everyone especially a new customer he would be doing taking his lunch when I came. He didn't say anything in the way out to assurre me he would be back to take care of me so I left. 2 for the greetings cause it was the reason I stayed so long for the cut.
Too long of a wait for an "ok" haircut. About an hour. 25$ without tip. Good if you have really short hair and you like a fade with it
Great service small shop great haircuts
Just moved here from Vegas. Drove 20 miles to get here gor stuck in a storm. Made it before 6 and they wouldn't take my walk in. BS
In from philadelphia for a short vacation. Stumbled in, needed a beard trim and shsve. Masterful job. Best shave ever.
These guys give great haircuts, but it's clear they cut hair for themselves and not for their customers. I went here for about 6 months and liked the haircuts, but the wait times were bad. The last time I went one of the two barbers decided not to work so the wait was extra long but I learned that they were doing reservations on Thursdays and the next haircut I needed was for my wedding so I called ahead and made a reservation for the Thursday before. Well I showed up and there was a closed sign and nobody was there, no courtesy call, nothing. I was forced to go to a barber who had never cut my hair before right before my wedding, it definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth about this place.
Great haircut. Would not recommend the straight razor shave, it did not remove all the hair and I left with a bunch of irritation. I regularly use a straight razor at home.
Ray and Eddie are awesome! Consistently great work!
They on point with thier work.
For the price at 30 dollars a haircut you should expect a top notch fade. WRONG!!!!! The barbers here do basic fades with no actual blending. It Is ridiculously expensive. The Mexican barbers at the dive shop do a way better job
Ray took his time and was meticulous about the details. My "cueball" and beard never looked better!
Old school real barbershop!! Make sure to ask about the history of the shop, they've been around a long time. They also gave me the best high and tight I've ever had. Definitely made a lifetime customer out of me!
They always do a fantastic job here. However it can be a bit of a wait sometimes as it's first come first serve. On Thursdays they do take reservations though. Also they are cash only. So make sure you have proper funds available.
Great barbers! Hard to find a decent low key barber shop these days! Nice location and they love their Dallas, Mavs ! Definately coming back ,!
Nice family owned business
I've been a patron here for nearly 15+ years. Yes, the wait can be long and they went to cash only in Spring 2019 but it's well worth it. Ray and Eddy are like family and treat regulars as their own. They truly embody a spirit of service many other industries both large and small could use a lesson from!
The haircuts are great. The line can be long, though. If you're not prepared to wait, don't come. But they've put in free wifi and 2 televisions to keep you entertained.
Great family owned barber shop with all the personality and skills that have kept it open for 3 generations
Quality barbershop. They make a real effort to get to know you and respect your wishes. They will work with you on your haircut. Great people.
My son usually HATES getting his hair cut but when I took him here, he actually enjoyed it. The barbers are really nice and the place is low key. All in all, a really great experience.
Always a great cut.
Amazing place very nice people and the place is amazing from the classic style
Great place. Very friendly barbers. Very skilled and attentive. Prompt service. Only downside is cash only.
Great old-style barbershop with friendly staff!
Excellent Customer Service, Superior Work. Just be prepared to wait, but you won't regret it! "A Cut Above The Rest"
Best place I have found for a nice hair cut, old time style Barber Shop, the kind you just don't find anymore. These guys are craftsman, you can really see, and feel the extra effort they put into every cut. And the price is great, $20.
Wow! A great old school barber shop with top notch barbers. I asked for a military high reg and Eddie delivered! I haven't had a cut this tight since I left the military. I'm only visiting this town, but I know who to see when I need a good haircut in Dallas!
new to dallas and this is the first place i went to - great haircut, and the guys working there are super friendly. i think it will be the only one i'll go to.
They make great fades !!!!
Great neighborhood barber shop. Lots of different guys come here. The barbers are always great.
I got a dope haircut from the Brownie's barber shop. They are the best in town. Very courteous and worth the money.
If you're looking for a hometown barber with roots in Dallas for decades.. look no further. Brownies is the best barbershop in Dallas hands down. Ray does an exceptional job at any haircut in any style. My favorite part is the conversations and all the cool knick-knacks and funny memes on the walls. A retro barbershop with a modern haircut approach.
Ray and Eddie are both great. As others have noted, the barbershop is more than just a great haircut at a very reasonable price, it is an experience. Sometimes part of the experience can be waiting a bit to get your haircut, so if you are inpatient or in a rush maybe just go somewhere else instead of writing a negative review.
The place is decorated beautifully. The wait is not too long and The Barbers are very nice. Had a good conversation while the cut was going on and the seating was comfortable enough for me not to feel the time pass. My only gripe with the place is the attention to detail given to the hair cut. I found many awkward angles after getting home and examining my head. Some edjes we're not finished properly and loose hairs were left unattended. Though, as this is my first time there, I cannot make a critical judgment on the entire shop for these errors. Paid 25 plus tip. Ends up at around 30 for just the top. Still a great place to go for a quick cut. Finally I have ridden the mop that sat attop my head!
Long way but loved hubbies haircut
Great place to get a fade. Old school barbers feel and they know what they are doing. Will be coming back.
Best barber
Place has a nice classic look to it. The barber's are real professional, friendly, and good at what they do.
Excellent hair cut, fair prices, great atmosphere
I have been a customer of Brownie's about 20 years. Rey is fantastic as is his nephew Eddie. It takes me about 35-40 minutes to get to the shop but it is well worth it!
Excellent quality and customer service. Really makes the client feel appreciated.
What a nice place and the customer service it is great. Went there after reading a review on yelp!! Glad I did and I will go back again. Thank you for my awesome haircut.
The best is in town. There can be a wait but well worth it
Had been planning on going for more than 2 years. My regular barber is quite a ways out and $30 a pop so when I left work early to vote, with time to spare, I dropped in, sat down and Eddie is now my hero! This place remonds me of being a young kid on a Satutday with my dad at his barber. I will be back.
I was visiting a friend from Chicago for the weekend and decided to get a haircut here. After reading reviews about a lot of barbershops, I decided to come here and man was I right to come here. Ray, who was my barber, was the best!! He did a great job of cutting my hair and he is an amazing and extremely nice person. If I was an out of towner or looking for a new barber, this is the place to be. $25 for simple haircut
Best barbershop they give the best haircuts.
Ray was very personable and they know people's names by heart which I liked. This was my first time and was greeted with a handshake and you don't get that a lot nowadays. I like how they treat their customers from what I've seen and experienced. Got a fade there today and I liked it! The only thing was that my fade was $28 w/o a tip. I little pricey but nonetheless very great bunch of guys.
Ray keeps my face Hair Free *BEST SHAVE IN DALLAS*
Most of the people here come in for fades, buzz, and other clipper-style cuts, and they look good. But if you have longer hair, these barbers will make a mess of you. Twice I've gone, and received huge cowlicks and uneven cuts. It's like I paid double for a cookie-cutter Supercuts experience. They also wanted to charge an extra $10 to make an appointment, so be prepared to walk-in and spend 90 minutes waiting.
They know how to cut hair hands down! Very classic style. If you don't know what you want. Just tell them you want to look good and they will style your hair like no other barber. Cash money only. I would call a day ahead for appointment since they are always busy making their clients look fresh.
BEWARE!!! Overcharged my CC. Haircut was for $20, I gave the guy a $4 tip. Looked a couple days later on my statement and they charged me $28. Shady stuff! If you do go, bring cash.
Raise one of the best burgers I've ever had my haircut by I'm getting my haircut around since 1996 first class all the way
Love this place! Ray is the best flattop barber in the MetroPlex.
My go-to barber shop, stand up guys who take the time to give you a great cut. Old school cool.
Been a customer here going on a year now since I moved to the Uptown area. Absolutely love these guys, even though I’m a native Houstonian, and these guys are all about Dallas, everyone is treated like family. I won’t get my haircut by anyone else.
