I've tried a TON of barbershops in and around Portland looking for beard grooming. Heritage has been excellent. Everyone I've worked with seems to know their stuff and isn't afraid to voice an opinion which I appreciate. Part of what I needed was advice on how to achieve a more groomed look for work. Both shops have a fun vibe. Plenty of relaxed (and optional) conversation going on. Also, the owner is a huge Timbers fan which is bonus points in my book.

Awesome little barbershop! Everyone is extremely friendly and really made the environment relaxed and fun. Eventhough my haircut was pushing past the closing time, my barber still took his time, making sure every hair was accounted for!

Made an appointment a few weeks before visiting Portland on my annual Christmas trip and was pleasantly surprised by the cool, laidback atmosphere. I got the full beard service and the barber did everything I asked and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. My girlfriend was impressed as well, which is not easy to do, especially when it comes to my beard. It’s also a block down from Screen Door, which I feel like makes this place a slam dunk if you’re in the market for a great beard trim or haircut. I’ve already added a reminder to my calendar for next year to make another appointment.

I was greeted the second i walked in and was offered beer/soda (nice touch) while i waited. Bobby has some serious skills with the scissors! I've found my new barber for sure. He did an amazing job. Hair cut kind of felt like a rush job took about 15 minutes total. Maybe I've just been spilled by my old barber with all the shampoos, straight razor shaves and hot towels. They offer a 7 day satisfaction guarantee so you can come get it touched up if you're unhappy. 3 stars for an acceptable job but I'll probably try another place next time.

I’ve always had a hard time finding a barber that understood my hair well, what I actually like and I had some type of friendly connection with. At Heritage, I found all of those bullet points with Jenn. The shop itself is very well maintained and looks wonderful. From the small chats I’ve had with the other barbers, they all seem great as well. However, I have to specifically mention how great Jenn is. From my first cut, she took a lot of time to really ask what I like and didn’t make me feel dumb for not knowing specific barber terms. She was extremely attentive to all of my requests. Not only that, but she’s genuinely super easy to talk to. You can tell she really loves what she does and making fun banter/conversation with her customers. I feel really fortunate to have found Heritage and to have had Jenn cut my hair. I can’t recommend their shop enough and if you’re wondering who to book with, you can’t go wrong with Jenn at all. They have a lifetime customer with me!

I have been coming here for about a year now. They make it an experience, not just a haircut. They use give you a hot towel and a straight razor for the shave/beard service. They use great smelling lotion afterwards. You walk out feeling not only fresh, but relaxed as well. (Kimberly is my go to)

I have to say this place is my favorite barber shop. I have tried 5+ in the Portland area and no matter who I get at this shop the cut is always superior. They have a way of making you comfortable in their shop and treat all their customers well. I think the best part is they teach you how to look after your hair once you leave, which gels to use, how to comb it, dry it, and how often to wash. So not only do you look great leaving you look great up until your next cut.

Maggie the redeemer. I went to Heritage today and Maggie was my peep. She did a great job and actually listened. She gave me my first proper barbers shave and it was dope! I went to Heritage about 6 months ago and received a "botched" haircut from a different stylist. I was very sad (I may have shed a couple tears), but decided to give them another try. I can't speak to the other stylists, but I do certainly recommend Maggie!

A hole in the wall barber shop that's staffed with super cool people that give great haircuts. No Hollywood styling, just solid and affordable work. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you can have a beer while you wait and admire all the retro barber chairs (some are very sci-fi and cool). Parking can be a challenge because the lot is tiny, but street parking within a block or two shouldn't be a problem if the lot is full. Their online appointment system is amazingly useful and, unlike some hair places in PDX, actually treats your reservation as a reservation, not a general time to check in and then wait (coughBISHOPScough).

I visited heritage barbershop yesterday for what I thought would be a quick clean up cut. While I understand I have very thick hair with some curl and wave I’ve never dealt with such an inexperienced barber. He barely wet my hair before cutting it in some spots leaving a very uneven looking haircut and generally just took way more off than I had instructed. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but I’m just pretty disappointed currently. the experience wasn’t entirely unpleasant and maybe my expectations and maybe my expectations were too high but I don’t see myself coming back again.

There are many barber shop in Portland that offer full service, but Heritage is the only one I've been to where they take the time and effort to do a truly fantastic job. Each of the barbers has a real interest in what they do, and create a comfortable relaxing experience to go along with a great cut, trim & shave. Highly recommended. Make sure to make an appointment and block out a full hour however.

My first time and last time at this place. Brandon needs a lesson in customer service, never introduced himself and never asked my name. The only way I knew his name because I made an online appointment. Also, he didn't clean his area after someone else's cut before he sat me down on the chair. The haircut was very choppy. It seems like they are trying to get people in and out. They are not concerned about quality. I would not recommend it, comparable to overpriced great clips.

Blake was my barber today and he did an excellent job with my thick Polynesian hair lol. My other barber I would go to in salem would be super dramatic about cutting my hair. Blake just went to work and didn't struggle at all. Great place also. Parking might be a not hard to find.

I’ve been through all the usual portland barbers and I think I’ve finally found the one I love. They don’t feel like they’re trying too hard to be cool or anything, it’s just a genuine good cut from good people at good prices. I’d skip the bishops and the Barts of the city to come here. So far I’ve had both Liv and Chico and they were both so good st what they do! Chico even got me to try a style I’ve never had before and it came out great. I’ll be getting my cut more frequently from here on for sure.

I would have never stumbled into this place but I have followed one of the barbers, Ryan, for some time. And when Ryan, who does excellent cuts, said he had a spot there and how much he enjoys working there, I decided to make the extra drive from Gresham to Heritage Barbershop. When you first walk in, the ambiance is as laid back as well as the barbers in the shop. I would highly recommend anybody who is within a 25 minutes driving radius to give these guys and girls a shot at earning your business :)

I took my husband hair for his birthday because he has no idea what to do with his hair and beard and neither do II! Fortunately Clayton did and got him trimmed, shaped, and shaved up. The barber even did his eyebrows! Now hubby is looking and feeling great has he should :-) we even got ideas for his bald spot that should be easy to do. Clayton really knew his stuff :-) I think we'll be going back. Oh, and the complimentary water, coffee, beer, look fall, and whiskey certainly didn't hurt either :-) it's just a really chill, relaxed atmosphere and everyone settles in like it's the place that they've all been going to all their lives.

Went in as a walk in to see about a razor fade. Small shop so there was a little wait but it was well worth it. Kim the manager did mine and she took her time. Ryan set a new standard for me. He qualified my concerns, gave me options as he approached different aspects of my haircut & even a little pep talk when I started being self-deprecating. The haircut turned out great even though he had to make corrections for a previous haircut I got at Brick & Mortar. The man can actually do a great fade and spent much more time on mine than hairdressers I used to regard as being incredibly thorough. He also clued me into some of the pitfalls less skilled barbers are prone to pertaining to my hair & offered to show me how to blow dry my hair to achieve a certain look. A first for me, he provided his business card with hand written notes on the answers I gave him in terms of preferences and, basically, what he did. Just truly above and beyond! In fact, I almost hesitate to say so because I don't want to schedule a haircut 2 weeks out. Incidentally, he's worked all ends of barbershop jobs including training.

Now, I can't say for sure, but as far as I know Ryan had been drinking. He was slurring his words and the conversation was just off and I was not vibing. Chelsea, she's my girl, I have no real opinion on the barbershop itself other than my stylist has a chair here and I can get in any time. The place is set back in a strange little strip-mall like building with an odd half-wall and facade painted all white. Most people would know it by the mexican joint on the corner (YUGE BURRITOS!). They offer beers and hot towel treatments and straight razor shaves and everything else you'd expect from a full-service barbershop. Basic cuts are like $25 and they do walk-ins sometimes, but I'd def call ahead.

He did a great job with a close fade and scissor cut on top. I was vague when telling him what I was looking for but he did a great job. The whole shop was easy-going as well - beer, music, football. When I was leaving, all the barbers said goodbye showing they all care which is unusual. Working in the salon environment, and going to a shop that can accepts walk-ins, I understand that sometimes it’s hard to accommodate a walk-in, so I made sure to call ahead and luckily Jenn had an opening that afternoon. She was awesome, super sweet, and did an AMAZING job on my bf’s hair (after coming in with an awful haircut from somewhere else lol). Very relaxed environment, fun company...next time we’re in town and need a haircut I know exactly where to go!

Absolutely hated it. This review is just for the beard service. I had gone there for a Full Beard service. The lady who did the full beard service didnt know how to do a full beard service. The beard lines were clearly uneven. The shaved area below the beard lines was not shaved properly. There were many hairs still poking. The beard was not at all trimmed. The moustache lines were not even touched. I had gone there due to the high rating but I had the worst experience I ever had in a barbershop. I do not know about their haircuts but I strictly don't recommend their beard services.

They somehow seem to know exactly what you want in a haircut without even you telling them that much. Also very fair in pricing with all these super expensive barbershops around town. I also really like the atmosphere here. Would definitely recommend to any who need a great haircut

I have nothing bad to say about the establishment itself or any of the other barbers, but I received the worst haircut that I’ve ever had from Allen. I walked out looking 10x worse than when I walked in... I even explained in full detail what I had wanted done, and he did the exact opposite. I don’t see how he cut it the way he did without realizing what a mess he was creating, but he seemed to just be chugging along as if he was whacking weeds. I get my hair cut every month, often times from different barbers, and I’ve never had a cut so bad that I feel the need to wear a hat and leave a bad review. Save yourself the trouble, do not get a cut from Allen. I’m only leaving 3 stars for the kind receptionist and the fact that the other staff seemed friendly.

I recently moved up to the PDX area and felt lost with no confidence in my hair and beard. Alan was beyond exceptional and helped me find It again. His professional demeanor, up beat attitude, and skill set was something I never expected - in an amazing way. I feel I found my new barber for years to come; the man is additionally skilled with beard Trims and razors. I’m sure other barbers are just as talented; the atmosphere here laid back and up beat. It may look like a hole in the wall, but once you enter the establishment it harks back to a traditional barber shop with complimentary spoils for customers. Music, seats, drinks, and personalities are all exceptional. If you’re new to the area or simply looking for an amazing experience, give them a try! I know they’ve got a positive happy customer for as long as I’m in the PDX area.

Horrible experience today with my son. This place claims it is good for families and kids but parents BEWARE. The guy that gave my son a haircut was very rude with my son, made no conversation and was forcing his head in various directions. He proceeded to get frustrated at my son and me because my son didn't move his head perfectly in place. Parents, do your self a favor and find another place. I usually go to Oak Barber Shop but made the mistake of trying out Heritage and will never be back. Unprofessional and amateur. Barber also had a friend hanging out the entire time in the shop and made tons a conversation with her and none with the customer.

Moved from Montana recently, and I was looking forward to getting a fresh cut at this stylish place so much that I drove more than 10 miles to get there. Upon arrival I walk in and sit down expecting to wait a few minutes. It was 2 hours before closing time. There were 2 barbers without clients sitting on their phones at their workstations when an older gentleman welcomed me up to the register. I quickly acknowledged to him that I was a walk-in (sign says walk-ins welcome). He looked around and he said "I'm sorry, we just don't have anything for you." I said "So you're telling me there's nobody with open availability to cut my hair?", to which he replied "Yeah sorry man." I left feeling as if I wasn't a valued customer and disrespected at that. In this era, reputations are very important, and I will be happy to share my opinions of Heritage Barbershop, and be happy to take my business of cutting my fast-growing locks somewhere else. The sign on the door said "cash preferred, cards accepted", and the sign on the table said something to the effect that their prices will be going up due to "operational costs". I want the public to know that this place isn't worth your time to build a relationship with a barbershop.

Well, I'd like to start out saying ive been to this shop a few times, and always had an absolutely great experience , until last week , i called around opening time to book an appointment and was treated poorly, and then i showed to the appointment and was treated poorly by the same person ( Ryan ) . I felt like a huge burden on him, and he rushed so fast that he left cuts on the side of my head where he was using the buzzers. I would really like to come back to this place, but I would prefer him to never cut my hair again. I dont need someone whos all peppy and happy, a matter of fact alot of the time id probably prefer just not to talk a whole lot- but this dude lacked common respect and skill .

This is the barbershop I have been looking for for years in Portland. I can't testify for all the barbers but Brian and Bob are awesome. These guys are very skillful and experienced. They listen carefully to what I want and give me a great cut that I don't have to go home and fix (like most the cuts I've got in town). They are very friendly and the atmosphere is great.
