I took my son to have his haircut today. He has been growing his hair out for a year and just wanted the sides to be cleaned up and the top thinned. He and I both specifically told the barber to do a three on the sides, and thin the top. I look up and see that he is cutting the top of his hair completely off, and has made the sides very short. Before getting too upset I wanted to ask my son if he changed his mind during the haircut considering he is 13. Once finding out he did not tell the barber anything different, we told him that that is not what we asked for, and it’s too short. His only response was that the top was frizzy and it needed to be cut. I then explained him his hair is naturally curly and had no product in it. There’s nothing we can do about it now other than pure disappointment. Regardless of curly hair or not if he had questions I was sitting right there. We’ve been here in the past and they’ve done great so I did not think that I had to watch him like a hawk but I will not ever be returning here. It’s sad considering I’m sure that there other people there that are still good, but again ask if you have questions. He basically did what he wanted to with my sons hair... and still charged me!

Awesome place for a first hair cut. Staff new exactly how to deal with a 22 month old that has never sat still in his life. There were no tears and the whole process was done in less than 15 minutes. We got a little trophy to put a lock of his hair in, and he got to pick out a Hotwheels car.

Quality. A simple word, yet it defines this business in its entirety. Quality Service, Quality Atmosphere and QUALITLY STAFF. The service that you receive once you walk through the door could be described as an experience. It’s not a haircut and its not a shave, its an personal interaction with proffesionals who each possess a big city amount of skill, but yet still give you the feel of a personalized small town setting. Mikey does an excellent job on cuts and shaves. Never have I walked out of this bussiness being nothing less than completely satisfied. I can speak for the rest of the Crew as well. The majority of them have cut my hair, and I have seen the quality work and the quality skill that is possessed by each shop member. Abe, Shua, Ann, Amiee and Dakota all do great work. The culture that is displayed in the shop is awesome, and it is radiated by Mikey and the rest of the Crew. I frequent this business at least once every 2 weeks and recomend it highly if you are looking for a QUALITY Barber Shop.

I have taken my toddler son here twice and both times were a great experience. Mikey cut his hair on his first visit and even suggested a great hair cut for his hair type that turned out super cute (I walked in with no clue about a desired hairstyle as my little boy had long hair). They are patient and friendly with wiggling children. My Husband and I have also had haircuts from multiple different barbers and they always turn out great. I am a woman with fine, thin hair. Most hair salons I have visited have rushed through my haircut and have barely done anything with the actual shape other than trimming the ends because it is so fine. Most shops use it as a chance to do a super quick cut and turn the chair over instead of trying to give my thin hair some actual style. The Chop Shop does not do that at all. I am amazed that I have received far better results from a Barber Shop than any of the multiple salons I have visited. Great job guys!

He is highly skilled at his job , gives a great haircut, he is compassionate, professional and friendly. He has special fire truck seats for the Little’s and a nice play area. I have been to many different barbershops over the past 20 years. I like to have a straight shaved head and my beard to blended into my bald head with good length left on bottom and my mustache trimmed nice and tight. They always do a great job and never have a complaint. They also carry the product I need to keep my beard inline and love the atmosphere. Unlike great cuts you can actually talk and get to know your barber. I mainly use Mikey the owner which is by appointment but when I have had to just stop by and do a walk in they still take time to listen to exactly what I want and I am PICKY and always do a great job. Highly recommend The Chop Shop.

They have a kid friendly waiting area that has tons of toys and a train table, and once the haircut was done, he got to pick a surprise. We won't go anywhere else!!!

Before Mikey and his team came to the area, getting Your hair cut was a joke. Never the same way, waiting lines were long, and the job was not good. The first time Mikey cut my hair I knew I had finally found my barber. His professionalism along with his staff are by far one of the leading shops in WNC. To say I get very nervous about going to a new barber would be a massive understatement. Anyways, I showed Amy a picture of what I wanted and walked out with a phenomenal haircut! Worst haircut I have ever gotten. I don't know why people are talking so good about it. I feel this place is more for kids than adults. I wanted a good professional haircut and what I got was a 5 min half fast job. I asked for a specific style and got a big mess that needs a lot of fixing. A lot of unevenness throughout my hair. I would not recommend this place if you're looking for a grade A haircut. Thanks for making my hair look worse.

My son was taken for a haircut yesterday. He wanted a trim. The stylist took clippers and buzz cut it - without his or our consent. The shop responded and said the haircut was his parents choice when he reviewed them - it was not. It doesn't take a minute to ask a 12 year old -or his parents - how long the length should be but they didn't do that. Afterwards they offered to fix it - but how do you fix that when you've already cut all of his hair off? He cried the whole time, and we won't be back again.

Shua is the best one there period. he is kind and listens to what I want. Mikey the owner is rude to me and nice to my husband last time he cut my sons hair he asked what I want and as I was talking pulled out his cell phone and was talking to his wife and didn’t even listen to me. Plus the prices nearly doubled and the service went waaay down hill it’s filled with screaming kids all day everyday not even a barbershop anymore I used to tip the amount of the haircut but we will not be coming back again. I gave them 3 stars because of the service provided in the past and the fact that it could be good...if all the things I stated were fixed.

I really like the Chopshop, as we have taken both of our kids there for haircuts multiple times, ages 2 and 6. I would suggest though, after todays visit, if one of your barbers expresses that “he doesn’t have the patience for kids cuts today”, then he should express that prior to getting the little customer into the seat. We would have happily waited for the next available barber, who is happy to cut little kids hair. Shua has been the best all the times we’ve been there, but wasn’t available today...We will be back! Been taking my boy (4-year-old) here to get his and my hair cuts for about two years now. They have inevitably done a great job each time, and my boy gets a car or piece of candy for doing well in the chair. These guys are great, and friendly, and interesting, but best of all they know how to cut hair! I've been cut by 5 different stylists now, and every one of the cuts has been quality. They have great patience when my boy doesn't, which I definitely cannot say for most barbershops/stylists in town. Will continue to go here as long as possible.

I called today to see if they had time to give my 15 month old his very first hair cut. What should have been a pleasant, enjoyable, even memorable experience turned out to be a horrible experience. I spoke to the manager “Mikey” who told me it would be about 20 minutes wait. So I drove 15 minutes across town to have my sons hair cut. I walk in and no one acknowledged me or said even one word to me to greet me or tell me what to do or that they’d be with me shortly....it was incredibly rude. After an hour of waiting with my 1yr old who was beginning to loose patience and melt down — as toddlers do. After we’d been patiently waiting for about an hour Mikey informs me that if the guy beside him finishes the client he was working on before he finishes his next client - that guy would take us next. Well, that guy finished his client and then skipped us in favor of another adult client. So, (because it takes Mikey and exorbitantly long time to perform a cut on an adult client) then there was no way my one year old (who was loosing patience) would continue to wait for another 20mins and then tolerate a new, potentially scary experience (his first hair cut). After we’d been made to wait for an hour already. So, we left. What a waste of time. What I witnessed in an hour of waiting there - every haircut basically looks the exact same. Mikey cannot stop talking. He literally stops cutting hair to tell story after story therefor it takes him double or triple the time it should take to perform a simple haircut on a man with barely any hair to begin with. Here’s a hot tip for people who clearly don’t get it: A toddler is like a ticking time bomb. They can only wait patiently for so long and if you make them wait to their upper limit - how do you think a hair cuts gonna go? A grown man who’s in a barber shop in the middle of the day on a Tuesday probably doesn’t have anything important to get to. Use problem solving skills and take ten - fifteen minutes to move the child out and then get to the adult (who is capable of waiting and then enduring a hair cut without incident.) It was a horrible experience. You wasted an hour of my day - more than that actually, since I then had to go find someone else to do it later and what you lost was a lifetime of haircuts. I wouldn’t recommend this shop to anyone, in fact, one happy customer may tell a few people but one dissatisfied customer will tell anyone who’ll listen... I have a lot of mom friends and that actually was the very first thing I told four of them when we arrived Late to the play date that you made us late for... Hopefully this feedback about how to treat customers with small children will help you to see things differently. Although, I somehow doubt it.

These guys have us the full works at a super reasonable price. A full (super close) shave as well as the best haircut I've ever had. They really made our day. My 5yr old son had an appointment today w/(my son calls him) "Mr. Mikey". I've been bringing my son to The Chop Shop for a couple years now every 5-7weeks. My son gets compliments on the daily about his awesome haircut! Mikey & the other barbers do such quality work. I've seen so many people leave after their cut looking amazing and their confidence soars. My son is always excited to get his haircut and if the kids behave they get a lolly along with a hotwheel car afterwards! I think that's such a cool thing for Mikey to do! This place has become a cool part of my son's childhood now. It's such a perfect place for both children and adults!!! It's also a great place for my son to learn positive grooming habits that will stay with him throughout his life. There's a child play area that my son really enjoys. It's a comfortable, clean, & tidy environment. They've cool police car, firetruck, etc...seats for the kids during their cuts which is a great distraction if your child is not used to haircuts yet. My son used to fidget but with each haircut & positive reinforcement (the lolly & toy car after) now he sits so good. Highly recommended!!! 5stars for sure!!! I'm grateful for this place.

Not quite what I expected, I showed the barber a pic of what my son wanted which was a mohawk (a simple one at that). My son also wanted a lightning bolt, he said the cut would cost 21.00 and he didn't have time for the lightning bolt, but would try if the cut was quick, well the cut overall took less than 10 mins and he didn't do the picture I showed him, did the same thing they do at great clips for half the price. I got the sense that he didnt want to do a kids cut. I didnt say anything because I didnt want my son to think something was wrong with his hair, but I was overcharged and didnt even get the cut i requested. Not impressed, I did however see other kids getting haircuts in a much less rushed and more kid friendly manner.

Went in, showed the guy a picture of a previous haircut. Said “this is what I want” guy looks at it for about 5 minutes. Breaks it down and what he’s saying sounds right but then he when he’s done and I look at the mirror, IT WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT I SHOWED HIM. Never going back there again. I've received three haircuts from Mikey -- not only is he consistent with the cuts, but for me they are perfect! I'm an "old" retired USAF officer, so a good cut from a barber is essential to me. Before Mikey, my Asheville haircuts have only been so-so, and very inconsistent. My searching is over as Mikey is a REAL barber! I'll not let anyone else touch my head.

This is the place to get your hair cut. Mikey and his staff are the best . I recommend you make an appointment if you want to get in and out because they have a lot of walk ins . Never had a bad experience with them .

Also, I have a 2 yr old and "The Chop Shop" has a race car on a pedestal for children to sit in while they get their haircut. Although my son, wasn't in the market for a haircut he sat beside me and "drove" the car while I had myself beautified ;) In addition, Mikey has a great selection of toys for the kids too and I must mention tons of video games to play for any ages! A great barber and a great place that goes beyond typical barber shop settings.

Me and my son went Saturday but they were just so busy so I decided to go back on Monday morning got in and out real fast.
