Awesome place! Awesome staff! Starr cut my hair and did a great job. I couldn't have been happier. She's very nice and we talked throughout the entire haircut and she frequently asked me if I liked how it was coming along. I like that kind of atmosphere, with engaging employees, rather then the "Hi, how are you?" And no conversation during the haircut. This is my new go-to place!!

Always have a great experience when I go in. The prices are obviously a bit more than what you'll get at any of the chain shops in town like Sports Clips and others, but it is 100% worth it to me. Great environment, friendly staff, and Yuengling on tap.

Best place in Spartanburg to get your hair cut. Part saloon, grooming store and part barber. Absolutely unique place. Get a drink while you wait or shop for everything from amazing candles, socks to shave brushes and beard stuff. Justin knocked it out the park for doing my hair for the first time. No one ever does a good job at first with my crazy hair. It is a bit more than I’m used to paying but well worth it and it support a local downtown business. If you are tired of the hair cut factory lines and want more than check this place out.

Where do I start? I have been searching for a regular place to get my hair cut for years. I found it. Great decor, the offering of a beverage before the cut was something I wasn't expecting. It was my first time here so I'm hooked. My barber, Cassie, did exactly what I had asked her to do and I say that because it doesn't happen much anywhere else for me anyway. I will return for my next cut and I won't wait because I dread going. I don't know who's idea this was but a dang good idea it was. Keep up the good work.

Ruined my hair, 6 months later growing it out and still not decent in comparison to before. Called ahead of time to explain cut, person on phone talked up a barber who I learned at the end of my cut was a new employee not confident at all cutting my hair. Overpriced and lacking knowledge of basic haircuts.

Yesterday was my first time visiting The Black Derby Barber Co. and it was great! Just be sure to make your appointment online prior to showing up (it's actually really easy to do). When I walked in, I was greeted, checked in, and then asked if I would like something to drink. They had multiple different types of liquor to choose from as well as Yuengling served in a goblet, bottles of coke, and coffee. Once I was called back, Barbara was extremely friendly & helpful! I love my haircut! Now I just need to figure out how to shape my beard as well as she did. Overall, I would highly recommend this place!

I've had my beard for a round eight years and this has to be the best beard trim I've had. They make sure that you are pleased with your cut before you ever leave so no one should leave with an issue.

Overall, I did enjoy my visit. It is by far the most expensive haircut I've ever gotten though. Justin was a great barber who seemed to take his time and focus on the details. The atmosphere inside is really nice, and complimentary drink (from water and soda to Yuengling and whisky) was a nice touch as well. The advertised "back and neck massage" that comes with the haircut was a little disappointing though. It's really more like a 30 second rub with a vibrating machine on your neck and shoulders. When I saw the cost of the hair cut included this service, my thought was that it is more expensive to cover a decent massage, but that wasn't really the case. I would love to come back, but I don't know if I can afford it every time I need a cut. Great business though, and glad to see places like this pop up in our town!
