Some fantastic people here at this location. I travel for a living and visit a new barber a couple of times a month. These guys are some of the best. Tracey trimmed me up exactly the way I wanted it with one simple look at a photo. Don’t forget the tasty free popcorn and bottle of water on your way out. Thanks a lot fellas!

No-frills, only $15 + tip, quality cut. It was my first time visiting South Hills Barber Shop and as soon as I walked I felt welcomed as if I had been coming here for years. It really is a no-frills place to get a quality cut and the smell doughnuts wafting in from next door is definitely a plus. Even though the place was busy when I went (lunchtime), the barbers did not make you feel rushed at all and ensured each person sitting in the chair got their full attention. Only complaint is that they DO NOT ACCEPT CARDS, but they have an ATM machine on premise if you forget to bring cash.

Visited South Hills Barber Shop yesterday for the first time in 40 years. I grew up in the neighborhood and used to get my haircut there as a kid. I have recently moved back home and decided to go back and see how it went. Lee gave me a great haircut and I will be returning there from now on. Be prepared - business is GOOD. Stop looking for barbershops! I have been to at least four barbershops since moving here and every single one was horrible. These guys are awesome! I watch them cut at least eight men's haircuts and beard trim's before they got to me and every single one of them was perfect! I'm telling every guy I meet to come here because it's so hard to find a place that really pays attention to detail and actually does an excellent job. A few things to know about this place. It's very old school setting, catering to the people that really enjoy just a hair cut without all the bells and whistles, or needing of being pampered. Pice for the service is outstanding for this day in age. 15 bucks for a cut, and they even straight razor the sides if you ask for no extra cost. That now days is unheard of, everyone wants that extra dollar. So if your in the market for a great barber, a fantastic looking cut and don't care about not getting the tea tree vanilla scalp massage. This is the place for you. Definitely earned a repeat customer. Oh just a heads up, it's a cash only place, but they do have an atm on site.

I have known Lyle, Nick, and Lee for a very long time. I have been going here for seven plus years! I always make sure to leave a tip. Military and law enforcement friendly. Let me tell you! If you want a great High&tight then its the place to go. Even after I moved over and hour away I still drive all the way for the great people and the great hair cut! Lyle you my friend are the man!!

Old-fashioned barbershop.Three (UPDATE: Now four!) 30-something barbers. Almost always busy, so expect to be third or fourth in line. All three do good work. Pleasant atmosphere. Nothing fancy. Like stepping back half a century, but in a good way. If you want glitz, this is not your place.

The worst experience ever. Wish I had never gone there. It was the day before thanksgiving. I walk in, sign in and sit down. I see that it is a very nice place and they are very friendly to the customer on the chair. I did notice that i was the only black person in there but it could of been a coincidence. I am observing the process from when someone sits down all the way til then end. When a person sits down they start them of with a hot towel and then start the cut. They have small talk and once the actual cut is done then they use the blade and end with a hot towel. That whole process took 30 mins or so. When I finally sit down, I introduce myself and tell him what I want. I started small talk with him but he wasn't having it. I tried to explain that I pride myself with this beard and that it has been hard to find a good barber and still he wasn't having it. He didn't start me off with a hot towel and the haircut only lasted 10 mins or so. I didn't get a blade or a finishing hot towel. He rushed the cut and he wasn't listening to my instructions. I left unhappy and not sure if it was for me but all of the sudden, there were cops across from the spot. I will never go back to that racist spot.

moved to Raleigh a couple months ago. saw this place a few weeks ago when I was getting my NC license plate. Went in today with a mop full of hair on my head and Lyle sent me home looking better than I have in a long time. Relaxed atmosphere, treat you like a friend, reasonably priced, and located right next to a great donut shop. Finally looking forward to my next cut.

Went to the guys place a hair soloon for men and got the worst haircut. Paid 18.75 for the hair and 8 for the beard. Worst haircut ever. I’ll let you be the judge of how great they where.

I've been going to this shop since 1998. It changed ownership a number of years back. The new owners are great. They give me a great haircut everytime and are great guys to talk to. It's an old style barbershop with top notch service. And I love that they have an ATM machine. Very convenient for me.

I asked for a very simple cut and the barber gave me something that resembles a Mohawk/undercut more than anything. He didn’t keep the shape my hair was in at all and made it completely uneven. Their shop was nice and I’m sure they usually do a better job than what they gave me. You win some and lose some. I guess I’ll be wearing a hat for the next few months.

I've been getting my haircut at this place for 15 years and it is well worth the wait. The barbers are all A+ and treat you like old gold. I've got a gnarly beard that takes longer than my hair and its always on point. It's a classic place that has straight edge and hot towels. You can also run all the popcorn you want in you from the old time popcorn machine.
