Great haircuts, great experience. I get my beard done here, as well, over the course of an hour. And it is a solid hour of attentive work on my head. It's somewhere between a therapy session and a haircut. Super cool guys and setting. I hope Cory is cutting hair in Richmond for another 40 years, because I'll be golden. Just a great barbershop. My only warning to potential clients would be that the guys here are real, down to earth people, so if you're prudish about language or music with an obscenity now and then, you may want to steer clear. I'd love to bring my dad down here for the haircut and experience but I know he'd take issue with the occasional f-bomb coming from the soundtrack or the barbers, themselves. I don't mind it, but if there were a family-friendly hour I'd sign him up for it in a heartbeat.

Rashad (spelling?) not only made my beard look amazing but also gave me a lot of great information for beard care and maintenance. I bic my head but I am sure the haircuts there are first rate. The shop has a cool atmosphere and a genuinely good group of guys, however, it doesn't quite live up to the hype. The guys are extremely pleasant but from a strictly service standpoint they're subpar. I got a cut there five or six times and each time they were 15-30 minutes late and twice they had to switch barbers on me because they were so far behind. I also found it frustrating that in order to get an appointment you had to call and schedule 2 or more weeks in advance. I understand that demand is high and there is only so much they can do about that, but a haircut generally isn't something I plan out weeks in advance. Those things would be excusable if I got some phenomenal cut but honestly I can't say that I ever did. I would often have to get them to keep going and tweaking it until it got to the point where I just thought, "okay, I'll fix it myself when I get home." It almost just feels like they prioritized their image over their service. I guess it's cool to get a trim from a tatted up 20something year old dude but at the end of the day I'd rather a quality cut than a chill experience. Out of all of the times I went to high point I don't think I was fully satisfied with the experience. I switched to a more run-of-the-mill barber shops few blocks away that could fit me in in a few days' notice and gave me a cut that I was fully satisfied with. tl;dr Good guys, good atmosphere, averagish cut, not fully satisfied. Place just wasn't for me. That being said, they're worth a shot to see for yourself. Judging from the reviews, I'm an outlier.

I've been 3 times total and each time I've had a different experience. The fist haircut I got was a little above average so I went back a second time about a month later. The second haircut wasn't as good as the first but it was still good. Another month goes by and I came back this past week and the haircut was horrible even though it was the same guy each time. I changed nothing about how I wanted my haircut from the first trip so I'm not sure what happened this time. It was horribly faded and extremely uneven where I had to fix it myself when I got home along with it being much shorter than I wanted. It was the same day appointment guy who did my hair. Overall, the atmosphere was great, guys are funny, but my haircut was not as great as the reviews I've read. I will say I will try it again but I'll just get a new guy to cut my hair.

I am completely disappointed with High Point Barber Shop before I had the opportunity to get a service from them. They would not allow me to get to that point. At the beginning of this year I decided to let my beard grow and every time that I tried to trim it by myself I messed it up and had to trim it all to start again, so I decided to get a professional to do the task. I have the recommendation for High Point from a coworker and my physical therapist, so I decided get an appointment to get both beard trim and a haircut. On August 12, 2016 I called them, they returned the call and I could not make an appointment that time because I needed a haircut before a trip that I had to Puerto Rico on August 17th, so I went to the same person that I use to get a haircut and get for that time. When I came back I called them again on Sept. 7, 2016 in the morning and never got an answer from them, so on Sept 8, 2016 in the afternoon I sent an email to their address in their web page. Up to today Sept. 16, 2016 I have not received any answer from them and I think that is it is enough time for them to answer me back. It became pretty obvious to me that they, in High Point, are not interested in do the service to me. I have a couple of theories on why they are not responding to me; one of them has to do with my name, last name and English accent… Predigests, pre-judgmental, racism… I don’t know. This type of situation is something that I would not feel comfortable if I do not say it, so I decided to expose my experience in this web page. The only reason I gave them one star is because google would not allowed me to give them no stars, which is what I think would apply in this situation.

Absolutely the best haircut in the city. I’ve gotten cuts at a variety of other shops in Richmond over the years, nothing compares to the care and quality of experience you’ll get at High Point. Excellent attention to detail in the haircut itself - somehow they made my ugly mug presentable - and hands down the best atmosphere you could hope to find anywhere. Don’t waste your time at other shops.

Really nice place! I had to find a new barber when Adams' Barbershop closed. There are a very few wheelchair-accessible barbershops in the area. I called and they were prepared with a portable ramp they keep on hand for disabled clientele. Really nice folks!

This was my first visit to HP, but it will not be my last. When I called to make an appointment and spoke with Jack, I thought, "I'm going to like this place.". That feeling was confirmed as soon as I set foot in the shop. I was welcomed by friendly greetings from 3 guys who work there. Since I had not been there before and had no idea which barber to request, I was assigned to Cody. Cody was super. Again, me made me feel welcomed and listened closely as I explained what I wanted and answered my questions clearly without talking down to me. I cannot express how happy I am with my haircut and beard trim.This is my first experience growing a bread and he provided me with a lot of good info. I booked my next appointment with Cody before leaving. I am already looking forward to that visit. This was by far my best experience in my life in a barbershop. Great experience in all aspects.

Daddy is WAY more than happy. I used to have to drive to Washington DC to find a barbershop that could trim a beard with scissors only [ok...they used a clipper on the back of my neck]. The shop I used to use in DC caters to a lot of Senatorial and Congressional types......but these fellows at High Point, are equally as good. Fast paced and busy [you need to plan on a 3 week minimum advanced booking], but the wait is well worth it. And their shop has the ambience of a fine restaurant. Kudos.

Ive been getting my haircut by Dustin for a long time. He keeps taking classes and staying updated on new techniques and styles making my hair fresh. Also offering great sugguestions for products and upkeep on my hair after the appointment. Even though I get my hair cut by him, the rest of the staff greets me by name and I feel welcomed.

I just moved from Chicago where barbershops are everywhere. This barbershop is exemplary all the way. I loved the environment and the service from start to finish. Organically conversations start between people getting haircuts and shaves. It's as if you're suddenly transported into a simpler time; one that offers elegance and community at every corner. I couldn’t help but notice the attention to detail in the design of the space, and it offered clean lines, interesting patterns, and warm colors to create a welcoming environment. My haircut was awesome; Jared Galloway found a happy medium between friendly conversation and professionalism. I would highly recommend a haircut from this particular barbershop if you appreciate good conversation and excellence in service.

I have mixed reviews about High Point. Great Atmosphere. Good barbers, but I always felt like a cog in a haircutting machine the three times I went there; in and out, 30 minutes flat. However, I always felt cool being there. I would still recommend you to check it out for yourself. I still go there to purchase my hair products. They have a great selection of products made by small businesses in the US of A.

I've tried just about every place in Richmond for them and while they've had great cuts elsewhere, the cost was just too high to justify for a child. Not sure what all the hype is about: I got an amazing haircut that garnered much praise and positively impacted my confidence, but beyond that, most everything else in my life has been the same. I do know for a fact I haven’t gotten the flu once since I started going to HP. When I call to make an appointment, sometimes the phone will ring a couple times before someone answers, so I’ll deduct a fraction of a star for that.

That's 100% true, and from what I've seen in my travels, this place is on a level beyond the best barbershops in many other cities, as well. Awesome dudes, on-point playlists, and great haircuts. They get the style right every time. Buy some products on your way out, as well. I've never regretted taking their recommendations.

I love HP! I started getting my haircut by Corey earlier this year and could say 1,000 amazing things about him and the other guys in the shop. My first appointment I was nervous about getting my haircut at a barber for the first time but these guys made me feel so comfortable. Everyone is very friendly. The shop is cozy but bright and airy at the same time. But seriously, go see these guys. They’re great.

I'm really particular about my Hair and have tried about 3 other barbershops in the area before I tried out High Point. I was fortunate enough to have Eric cut my hair and after showing one picture of the style I wanted it cut he crafted it perfectly. The shop itself is extremely clean and well lit and very reminiscent of an old school barbershop but with a contemporary spin. I cant speak highly enough of High Point and yesterday was only my first experience and it certainly won't be the last.

High Point Barbershop is the only place I trust to cut my hair now. The atmosphere in there always makes you feel amped up. From the awesome music playing in the background to the old school barber aroma that fills the shop allows a feeling of pure bliss. I usually have Corey cut my hair and he always delievers. A lot of places don’t always listen to what you want or don’t have the proper skills. Corey doesn’t fit this criteria at all. His skills are remarkable and he’s always double checked to make sure he knows what I’m going for. Sometimes he even throws in a suggestion for something new and all of those have been great as well. I’ve also had Rashard and Cody cut my hair and these guys are extremely talented and on point as well! Going to High Point is something I look forward to because I always leave the shop feeling extremely confident and well groomed. I’ve even had the luck of scoring hot dates afterwards thanks to a fresh cut. As a customer, you always want to feel valued and appreciated and High Point always makes it their top priority to do this and more. If you’re trying to find a place that you can trust and will always have your back, then go to High Point. Thanks again guys for always coming through!

What an incredible place! It was packed with customers, and yet .. everyone was there comfortable - getting all spiffed up! The service was incredible - I was in there for but a moment - but was attended to quickly. This was my first time at high point. Also, I hadn’t cut my hair in 3 years, and it was quite long. Went in and absolutely loved it. All the guys were super chill and friendly, they all struck up conversation with me, which is rare when getting your hair cut. Not to mention, the music they had playing was on point as well. By far the worst hair cut I have ever got in my life..!! My hair on top is uneven, all around the head and the sideburns was done by a machine and wasn’t cleaned up like a true professional with a razor blade. I left looking worst than when I came in..! I've been here twice and will repeat. Guys there well experienced and attentive to what you want. Last minute appointments are hard to come by it's best to make one at least a week or so in advance. If you go early there is almost always street parking to avoid the paid lot.
