REVIEWS OF Gui Gong Ja Barber Shop IN New Jersey

First time here. Nice calm place to get a haircut. Received a perfect haircut for $20. Very much worth it in my opinion. Had a place to store my coat and glasses. Kept the hair clippings that remain on ones person down to a minimum. It's a professional well thought out and executed barber shop.

Amazing experience. This barber (white hair) understands hair. If you don’t speak Korean, just come in prepared with a picture and he will do it perfectly. 10/10 experience and very affordable price. He gave me the perfect fade and lineup.

Been going here for many years. Always get haircut from the owner (barber closer to window). Can't vouch for the other guy as I never got a cut from him. The woman working the cashier is the owner's wife. I do agree that she can come across as a bit off putting at times, but all in all a nice lady. As for people who said they don't speak English, that is correct. They did not grow up here and probably worked 12 hour days in that barber shop for last 30 years. If you want a specific cut, you are better off going to beauty salon not a barber. Also if you want to talk to someone go to a bar not a barber.

I've been going to this barber shop for 15 years even after moving up state. I made sure I time my Asian grocery shopping to get a haircut fur the long drive. Very clean, dependable, best haircut and price right.

Owner is best. Left side near the window .he has good skil.

Only Korean style haircut even though they say any style. Not good for anyone wanting a flat top cuz they'll say they can cut flat top but not so. I stopped going there. Prices are normal as per location of Fort Lee.

They don't speak English, there was no communication at all. I wanted short hair style. I tried to tell him, he simply chose to ignore what I said, I understand he didn't speak English, but he didn't bother trying to get somebody to translate. It turns out what he did to my hair was exactly I didn't like. I had to do my hair some where else again.

My favorite barber in NJ. Both barbers working there are great. They are able to see the shape of your head and face and give you a cut that best fits you. FYI they are open on Sunday and closed on Wedensday

After googling for barber for my 4 year old son I found this place because it had good reviews. I regret so much that I visit this place. I can assure everyone that all these reviews that they have are fake! First of all, they don’t speak English at all and there is no way you can explain what you want. The barber nor the admin of the place didn’t smile even a little bit. They looked like prison guards while working with kid. Although me and my wife were standing by the kid and trying to explain the barber what to do, he was looking at us with the expression on his face like don’t teach me what to do. Place was extremely dirty and the the cover that they used to were dirty with hairs left on it from previous client. You can’t even try to tell him something as he looks at you with angry face. Also, they don’t accept cards and work with cash only for obvious reasons. I felt myself very discriminated here. Because they were very kind with people who talked their language but definitely not with those who are not one of them. His professional skills are terrible as well, because he left my kid in the middle explaining us with body language that he is not staying still. And I had to go to another barber nearby after paying them $25. Stay away from this place and don’t be fooled by their fake reviews!

First of all, two barbers have great skill. And price is very very reasonable. I'll be visit this place until this place closes.

Sucks! Will never go there again!

Structured and orderly. There's a process to the haircuts at Gui Gong Ja, and it produces fine results. The little, yet consistent details make this place great. Every chair has a TV and remote, you can watch what you want. The waiting chairs, which are rarely required, are super comfortable. They have a fine taste in classical music. They clean your neck with a hot towel after clearing it of hair. Oh yeah, and they give excellent haircuts.

English isn't their strong suit, but man can they cut hair.

A traditional but refined and clean barber-shop setting, with niceties. Classical music, video screen for each chair, eyebrow and ear trim, hot towel, glass case to hang your jacket. Friendly and polite staff. I've been a regular here for several years.

White hair man has strict rules by him self. He cut your hair using his rules. Not your style. And he said, it's better. And he go away to another customer. You shouldn't tell about cuted hair anybody.

John K

Really old barbers. I wouldnt trust my hair here.

Asi Long

Very good old fashioned barbershop. I cannot stand style salons who try to be very trendy but ultimately give a below average hair cut. This place is no non sense. They don't make much chit-chat and simply concentrate on providing a very good haircut. Good to have folks who have such pride in their work.

been going here since 2006 and they have only gotten better with time. they have TV's at each station (usually turns on ESPN for you), remembers you and how you like to cut your hair (over time), place to put your jacket and belongings, and plenty of magazines to read in comfortable leather couches when busy. also they have not raised the price of a haircut in forever. remains $20, plus tip

I can see why some people give bad reviews. BUT whomever says they don’t have skills is absolutely wrong (at least 1 of the guy). It’s deffinetly true that if you don’t speak Korean, there won’t be any communication (I’m not Korean nor do I speak it). But I always show the 1 guy a few pictures of the hairstyle I want (diff angles) and it always comes out amazing. The guy I’m referring to is black hair (older gentlman) usually all the way to the left by window. I Don’t recommend telling them what you want just show pics and he’ll do his thing. If your a person that wants to “socialize” and have a convo, this ain’t the place unless your Korean.

PROS: Great cuts. Affordable: $20 + tip. Comfortable waiting area but rarely any wait. Personal TV. Good attention to detail: they rarely leave a stray hair intact, hairline untrimmed, etc. Warm towel at the end. They don't speak much English, so they rarely talk to you - it's great. CONS: They don't speak much English, so they rarely talk to you - it can be not so great; they understand most simple haircut terminology, so any miscommunication tends to be on the client's fault in my estimation, but I could be wrong.

Hair cut NO wash hair $25. Chinese hair cut shop does $10 with wash hair
