If you have short hair you're gonna like it. If you have long hair or need specific attention or style make sure to get it from Mansour 'cause according to feedback he is the guy. I've had mine from Alex and it was rough. I specifically asked to trim top a little and shave the sides. Sides were shaved good, but top was shaved considerably despite me asking to just trim it a little. Even though I said initially that cut was exactly what I was looking for to Alex, I have realized it was too short later. I do expect being blamed by owner as it is my fault and it is indeed mine, I should have followed barber's every step instead.

$25 for a reg haircut which is what they run in NYC. Ibrahim cut my hair and was fantastic - detailed and efficient. In midtown near Bryant Park which isn’t close to me, but it was so worth it. Groupon is what brought me in, and I can’t wait to go back. On the second floor of a building and I didn’t see an elevator, so I don’t believe this is a good choice for folks with physical disabilities. And to anyone with a Groupon or anything like that, remember it’s appropriate to tip on the cost of the service before the discount!!

This is by far one of the best barbershops in town. I have been going to Mansoor for 10 years. I have tried with many different barbers, and was never happy with the outcome. When I came across Mansoor years ago, he was in a different location. I followed him to Manhattan, and will continue to do so because he is on point. It's hard to actually explain the level of nervous that I was about getting my hair cut in midtown... it's just not typically a place to get your afro cut. I'm extremely happy that I went to Epic. My barber, Manny, was absolutely awesome. He checked in with me at every step to make sure I was getting the experience I wanted. He was careful and precise and I left very happy. I actually can't wait to go back on a day when I have more free time and can have a fuller experience. All the 5-star reviews are fake. You can look at their histories to get a sense of their review patterns. Most accounts have reviewed only this establishment and nothing else, and that too is of 5 stars -- that's suspicious. They've hired the same company to fake their Yelp reviews too, it is very evident. The girl in front of me presented the barber with a picture of the side view of a hair cut she desired and the barber had to completely come up with the other side on the fly (this was a complicated fade). The girl was very happy with hers. However, when it came to my hair cut, I said "short on the sides blended with a longer middle" and I came out with my hair looking like a flat head screw that wasn't blended at all. So I think it's a hit or miss, but I'm definitely not going back again. Edit: I am definitely not the person being talked about in the below response.

Had an amaaaaaazing haircut from DEAN. I asked for a taper 1.5 across the side and got it perfectly. In addition he gave me a cut along my parting hairline which looked really cool. He finished up by cleaning the sides with shaving cream and a razor blade to give my hair a really clean look.

Tourists in the area as well as long time customers will get the same level of great service that's hard to find in a $20 barber shop, much less a dreaded "boutique barber shop" charging $50-100. Monsour is the man - great attention to detail, meticulous, and swift. He's truly skilled no matter your type of hair or style you're going for. I've have curly hair with cowlicks in all different directions and he's one of the few barbers I've been to that still does a scissor top fade well. Actually they have a really solid team of barbers, I've noticed the way they take care of their customers and they've done a great job shaping me up in the few occurrences that Monsour was out or backed up with clients. $18 for a cut, $10 for the beard he'll even shampoo and gel if I'm on my way to a meeting. Well worth the money when you find consistency.

PERFECT. Best haircut I can remember!!! I came in with a prior cut that was uneven and asymmetrical, the guy repaired it and made my hair badass af while being so relaxing, open, and precise. Everyone's SUPER friendly, calm, welcoming, and diligent there!! My guy focused & took his time but was still fast - he switched razor sizes about 7 times and shaped me up so delicately despite the fact that I came in an hour before closing!!! You're in for a surprise - they have these wonderful little parakeets too!! They're so cute and stayed quiet except for the occasional birdsong

Awesome experience. Went there for the first time this week because I wanted to find a barber close to my job. I was in the chair within minutes. Manny took excellent care to give me a great cut and an even better shapeup. He was extremely professional and we had good conversation, which is what the barbershop is all about.
