Best barber shop in town
It is a great place!
Best cut in town. Buffalo Mane keeps me looking fresh.
Beard trim was great (took about 15 min) but then I I asked for them to touch up around my ears and neck (took less than 2 min) and they doubled the price. This is a place to go if you want to spend a TON of money for a decent hair cut. My friends have told me similar stories- even stories of where they have had to pay $35 for something they didn’t ask for.
Prices are steep, but you get what you pay for here, unlike other shops in the area. Availability is limited, so schedule ahead of time.
great barber shop. make an appointment.
GREAT service. Alexis is my gal here, but everyone seems to do a fantastic job. Exactly what I want in a barber shop. Some character. Highly recommended.
Too expensive for a fairly routine cut
Great haircut, good location, lively staff.
Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and don't plan on going back. Very sub par haircut. None of the barbers really seemed to be too interested in their customers. It felt more like a Super Cuts than a hipster barber shop.
Great barbershop with friendly employees. Have been getting my hair and beard cut by Rebekah for over a year now.
A great spot to spend a few mins getting a trim and a conversation.
After reading all the good reviews about this place, I decided to give it a shot. I had high expectations and Justin Lemos delivered. I usually get my hair cut weekly and this is the best cut I've received in KCMO and I've been to about 15 barbers out here. Phenomenal customer service.
1 word... Lemos! Ask for him and you'll never regret a moment or a dime you spend in Buffalo Mane.
Great place. Good customer service. Fairly priced. All around good experience.
Great shop! Love the vibe and they actually know what to do with my hair.
Good, helpful stylists and a good haircut. Could have been a little more even but I should have caught that. No AC the day I was there. Not sure if it was out or if they don't have it.
Unsatisfied with the haircut.
Must see Justin Lemos! Great Barber!
Derek does an amazing job and super personality.
I went here based on raving reviews of the care and great haircuts they received, yet my experience was far from that. To be fair, my appointment was at 8am when there was only one person working, so I must've missed a fun atmosphere or other great hair stylists. I arrived for my haircut and paid way to much money for a dry haircut that took 11 minutes and resulted in a shoddy look only days later. In the moment it looked satisfactory for a Great Clips, but I expected better. I quickly found another location for haircuts.
Thanks Alli
Just got my haircut, as a walk-in customer I got lucky, someone was late for an appointment and Justin was able to accommodate me. Open on Mondays, good pricing and nice staff! Will be going back every few weeks! Appointment recommended.
I am very picky with hair cuts. So I never get one. But after having Paige cut my hair this morning I will definitely be back. Very friendly, great atmosphere, awesome quality. Didn't feel like I was just another dollar walking through the door.
Mike did an A+ job on my beard trim. I typically keep it short and tight but have let it grow for the winter. I grow it out for winter and need some help taming the beast. The reggae was loud, Mike was friendly and I look handsome AF. 10 out of 10 will attend again.
I've been looking for a barbershop for about 6 months now and this place is definitely the one. Scheduling online ahead of time is super easy, my hair cut was fantastic, and the barbers were all nice and professional. I booked Wendy because she was $25, which is more than I usually pay but it was well worth it
I took my 6yo son in for a cut with Alexis. Little dude has crazy straight hair with double crown cowlicks but he wanted a hard part, shaved sides... a trendy kid cut. Alexis delivered. The vibe is chill, the staff is fun and unintimidating for a little kid from the 'burbs. Thank you, Buffalo Mane.
This place was great. Love the cut, loved the friendly service. Can't say a single thing bad about it for real
It's a cool place! And they do a WONDERFUL job. Definitely would recommend.
Justin was rude and did a half assed job on my husbands hair. Definitely not worth the money I paid.
Walked in expecting a great fade and beard trim and left with bangs on one side of my head and one side of my beard hacked off. Nothing was even. Left there to immediately find a place that could fix the mess. Ended up paying a lady in Smithville to salvage what she could. Was bad enough that she recommended buzzing it, which she did. Spent $60 on 2 haircuts and went home buzzed. Thumbs down!
Justin Lemos is bad ass! Not only was the cut awesome but he's fast, the location is great and the vibe is super chill.
Great cut and service from Michael T.! The pricing is unclear (i.e. why is the pricing a range from $25-$35, and are customers supposed to seek out these details? There's no indication to how much the cut will cost in the store either, so based on the fact that my haircut needs are very straight-forward, I assumed I'd get the more affordable end of the deal.) I will just ask in the future, but I think clearer listings on the site or in the store (or both) would just make good business sense.
I took my fiancé here hoping he would find his go to spot. Sadly, he won't be returning. For a $25 haircut we went with certain expectations and left feeling kind of jipped. When we walked in, the atmosphere wasn't very inviting at all. During the haircut my fiancé carried most of the conversation since the Barber didn't seem interested in getting to know him. In my opinion, that's bad customer service. One of the staff members got himself a beverage from the fridge and didn't offer my fiancé any water or whiskey. It's not that I expected him to be served whiskey, but most places that charge $25 and up will always offer at least water. The barber didn't wash his hair which was supposed to be included. The haircut was mediocre, nothing to be amazed by. One of the biggest disappointments was that the barber didn't blow dry style my fiance's hair. He almost didn't even offer any styling product before saying he was done. Point being, we felt like we didn't belong to the club. I can't believe we paid full price and even tipped. This place had the potential of offering a unique experience but for us, it was missed. I like to support local businesses but we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Whiskey, great people, great haircuts do you need more?
Great haircuts!
If that last guy would've just asked for a glass of whiskey, they would've been more than happy to give him one. Sometimes they offer, sometimes they get busy CUTTING HAIR. But if I ask, they never hesitate. I never have to wait, here. Prices are reasonable. Music is hip. Guys are nice. I drink my Buffalo Trace, which IS the best bourbon ever, while I get my haircut. Derrick cuts my hair now. He is my go to guy because, not only is he super nice and personable, but he nails my haircut every time. I've even started bringing my 6 year old son and Derrick does a great job with him too, despite my boy's "kinetic" nature; and my son feels like a big man goin to the barber shop with dad. My first time there I was as a walk-in, but they are getting more popular by the day, so I make an appointment online now. No muss no fuss.
God forbid you ask for a decent men’s haircut for $35 in Kansas City. Two noticeable gashes in the back of my head that nobody told me about until long after I had left. The atmosphere is cool, but don’t rush me in and out your door without doing what you get paid to do. I will not return.
Great place!!! Great people!! Fantastic services
It's the best cut downtown
Walk in and ask for haircut the guy says not taking walk ins but he is just sitting there doing nothing and the other guy is sitting outside on his phone doing nothing guess they didn't need my money.
Michael trimmed and shaped my beard perfectly. Won't be going anywhere else from now on.
A Very small eclectic barbershop. Jason Lemos is very good.
In short underwhelming - despite paying $35 for a cut and beard trim, barber cut beard cheek lines VERY unevenly, and left sideburns totally uneven (mine didn't even ask where I liked them - service you'd expect even at a Great Clips level place), so I had to go home and fix the entire cut myself. That's not the quality of barber you want to be spending your money at.
Detailed and professional. Relaxing atmosphere where as a customer I can feel comfortable & cared for. I get my haircuts from Justin but you can't find a bad barber there.
I don't normally write bad reviews, but I was pretty bummed when I got home and noticed that the undercut style I asked for was all messed up in the back. No straight line anywhere except for the section I had done elsewhere. I will continue my hunt for a stylist.
Great service at a good price in a convenient location.
Fantastic experience both, love the haircut and the atmosphere. Very professional, very welcoming. Definitely will come back again.
Great atmosphere and excellent staff. Maggie has been cutting my hair for almost 5 years.
I got a great hair cut from Paige the other day I love this place I will keep coming back. Great environment!
Went in for a beard trim with Justin. I am very particular about my beard. He took me from disheveled to dapper in ten minutes. Highly recommended.
The only place I go for my haircuts. Lemos does a great job.
Whitney is incredible. Amazing on all types of hair.
They were quick and friendly. My stylist, Ali, gave me exactly what i wanted. My only complaint is that I accidentally drove past it at first because the shop is so tiny lol.
Great spot and cool setup. Nice staff. My complaint is the pricing. They charged me $45 (+$8 tip) for a straight razor head shave. My fault for not checking the price first but $53 for a 20 minute shave is insane. I usually pay closer to $20. I was hoping this place was going to work out because I liked the location but I can't justify that cost.
Free whiskey!
Great place, Friendly barbers. Justin's cuts are always quick but very high quality . Never have to worry about getting a bad fade. Alexis is very good a doing mens brows without making them overdone. 100% would recommend.
Lemos is the man
Lemos is the best
Friendly barbers who do a great job at a reasonable price, what's not to love?
Great shop! Justin is an excellent Barber!!!
First time at this fine establishment. I have been growing my beard since Nov. and wanted a professional trim with a haircut, and that is exactly what I got! After reading the reviews everywhere, I chose Maggie, she was awesome, however, I think you would get nearly the exact experience from any of the staff. The cut was perfect, the trim was spot on, and the atmosphere was excellent. I've already scheduled my next appointment and cannot wait to go back!
Pretty cool place with awesome barbers.
Jake rocks!
I'm a barber and he did an ok job. Not great. The lines on my husband hair were no where near neat and clean. We were in town for a wedding. I didn't have time to do his hair with packing for not just myself but my little one as well. So I thought what a great opportunity to see another barbershop. I love going into new shops. The guy who was cutting someone's hair in the middle was doing a great job. To bad we didn't get him.
Justin Lemos is awesome!
Great place to get a cut or clean up the lines on your beard. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great cut.
Good place to get a beard cut, but they recently doubled their prices. $20 for a beard trim and $40 for a haircut! That's absolutely ridiculous, now you need the shot of whiskey to dull the pain of the new prices.
Cool spot for a proper haircut.
Great BiG world in a itty-bitty place. Couldn't of been more happy with finding this place. Jeepers 4 Life !
After a quick google search, I decided to come here for a haircut. I travel for a living, and it can be tough to find a decent place for a cut. But I've found my place in Kansas City. It's a tiny joint with 3 chairs. But the music was great and there was an overall good vide inside. Michael was able to fit me in his schedule within an hour and gave me a great cut. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Thanks for the great cut! The next I'm passing through, I'll be sure to stop in.
Good haircut, they didn’t make me look too hipstery
Great cut! One of the few that still uses a strait end razor to clean up your neck with warm shaving cream.
Cool little place. Great cut & chill atmosphere. Maggie and Mike were super friendly
Best shop in town.
Great shop and great staff! If you need a beard trim in KC I highly recommend Buffalo Mane!
Absolutely amazing men's cuts every visit! Ali Wolf has been my go to for nearly two years. That's longer than I've ever stuck with one hairstyle! Book online for best results, and make sure to ask Ali about anything 90's or lake related. Highly recommend for consistent and cost effective cuts!
I took my husband here as a surprise to get his hair cut and beard trimmed. Let's just say, he had a smile on his face the whole time. He loved it!! And I personally don't think his hair or beard has ever looked better. Krystal did a fantastic job! You can tell that she really enjoys what she's doing and was very attentive to Cole's needs and what would look best on him. She and her husband were very friendly and easy to talk to. Plus, as an additional bonus - He received a glass of free whiskey to help him relax even more :) We will definitely be coming back!
Fire cuts!
Great people and cuts
This place sucks. I walked in for a cut one day and they said I needed an appointment... yet no one was in the shop. Whomever they "claim" had appointments clearly weren't there. I found another shop that also takes appointments, however, will squeeze walk-ins between scheduled appointments with a short wait. That is way it should be.
I decided to try this place out because of the great reviews. I showed up about 15 minutes early to get some of this free whiskey everyone is talking about. I was told to wait on the couch and the barber would be with me momentarily. I sat there and waited the 15 minutes for him to finish up with another customer and was never offered any whiskey. Then, I sat down and the gentleman proceeded to give me a pretty decent haircut. I left moderately satisfied, but now I have discovered a chunk of hair that sticks up on the top of my head that I can't get to stay down with water, gel, or pomade. The guy was cool and a nice guy, but there's definitely nothing special about this place. If you go expecting a free glass of liquor, just know you might not get offered one.
Decent cut depending who's doing the job
Small and trendy place for a cut and beard trim that is overpriced, but they do a good job and I always appreciate free whiskey while waiting.
great
I don't often do reviews, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Reviewers seem to be complaining about "decent" haircuts. And that may be true depending what you consider to be a quality haircut. We all have different definitions, and so do the barbers themselves. I heard great reviews from coworkers, so I gave it a try. The first time it was wonderful, the second time I had a different barber which didn't mesh with my personality or style, but once I got Maggie, I knew I found my barbershop. The atmosphere, location, free whiskey, and service is all top notch. I haven't had a time where I wasn't served whiskey, and if they didn't, surely I'll ask. That said, if you're going to base your experience off of not being served free whiskey, a one time run, have your girlfriend or wife write a review, or cost ... you my friend need to take a hard look at your life. The prices are very competitive and the service is phenomenal. 5 stars from me.
The environment and amenities are nice, but don't mean anything if the haircut isn't good; and the haircut I received was average at best. It seems like they do one haircut and if that's not what you want, you're out of luck.
My new favorite Barber shop in Kc.
Best barber shop you can imagine. Go out of your way just to get a cut here.
Traditional, professional, punctual and comes with a free Whiskey. Support local, small businesses like this and keep the heart of downtown Kansas City alive and non-corporate.
Sure wish they would serve some White Castle Burgers there.
I am new in town and I've looked all over for a good barbershop. I just got back from getting my hair cut here and I was very pleased with the service. I made an appointment online and was promptly seen. Jason Lemos cut my hair and I think he did a great job. I was in and out in about 20 minutes and you can pay with either cash or card. I will definitely be going back for my next haircut.
New to town and very picky about my haircuts, Alexis was great and did a wonderful job. This will be the only place i go in KC.
Alex is awesome at fades, everyone is cool. Good vibes and amazing hair cuts. I'd recommend this to anyone. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!!!
This guy is great. Super clean and fast.
Great shop. Can be talkative or quiet. Good cuts friendly staff. A little small but never over crowded.
