I recently moved to the western WI-twin cities area and couldn’t find a barber who can give me a cut, I felt good about at the end. Tried a couple of those sport themed “barber shops” and resorted to cutting my hair in front the mirror. Did a Google search and found Fades of Gray a few blocks from my office. Give them a call and got an appointment with Dre. It was the first time in a very long time I looked that fresh. I’ve been cutting my hair there for five months and I’ve received a compliment each time about how good it look. Hey! almost five years ago, i walked into julian grey's barber shop to get my head cut. the fella's in the store are skilled and good humored. and julian's a pro's pro. what's more, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. there's always good conversation going on between the barbers and clients. and they're always busy. they take walk-ins. but the demand is so high, they often have to turn new customers away. in sum, i wouldn't go anywhere else, even if you paid me. I recently relocated from Chicago, so I've been looking for a great barbershop. This is the one. Dre gave me a full hour, paying super close attention to detail. His fade was super clean and his line up was super tight. I have very straight hair as an Asian, so I know sometimes it's a little tricky to cut my hair, but Dre delivered perfectly. Dre aside, the ambiance is humble and the barbers are kind. You'll definitely feel welcomed and at home here. I highly suggest you check out this place for a clean cut. I'm definitely going to be back for the foreseeable future.

Don’t recommend. New to the area so I was looking for a new barbershop. I walked into this barbershop and the guy in the middle station told me he can take care of me but from that point on the man was very rude and impatient. I was trying to explain what type of haircut I wanted because it was my first time going there, I told him I wanted a low bald fade but he tried to say that is two different styles which it’s not and I got confused and still confused about. Then when I tried to show him the picture of hairstyles on the wall and what the style I wanted looked like. Then he tried to argue that wasn’t the style I requested, but he stated in the beginning that the style I requested is two different styles which is why I showed him the picture (This Guy was very Confusing). Then I told him just to cut my hair like it was on the pic but make the fade just a little lower then it was on the pic. Then he said that he doesn’t want to cut my hair no more because he had to go back and forth with me about the style I wanted when all I was trying to do was explain because I’m a new customer and that’s what you do when you deal with a new barber, then he snatched the salon gown off me real aggressively. I explained the hair cut in a very simple manner and I think he just didn’t want to cut my style of hair because I have straight thick hair and pretended to act slow then make an excuse after to get out of working with me Or he was just plain mad and having a bad day. Then who I believe is the owner of the establishment told me to sit down and wait for another barber and I was like naw I’m out of here ! If you can’t even take the time to make sure I’m getting what I pay for an making sure I’m satisfied, you probably won’t do a exceptional job ! I went to another barbershop up the street and they did a great job.

I think every man can attest to the importance of having a quality barber and the lengths taken to find one. I can say without hesitation that Fades of Gray (IMHO) is one of the best, if not the best, barbershop in the city. My personal barber is Dre, but all the barbers are great, which is a rare find. I would have no qualms, if Dre wasn't available, sitting down in the other barbers (Tony & Julian) chairs knowing I'll receive a superb cut. The shop atmosphere (which is important) is relaxed, conversational and professional. If you're in Minneapolis do yourself (and your hair) a favor and make an appointment. You won't find a better shop or barbers.
