I've been coming here for years and never had a problem. The guys are friendly and accept everyone. Prices are reasonable compared to other places. If you don't know what haircut you want, then go there with an open mind and they'll suggest something for you. Become a regular and they'll treat you like V.I.P., at least that's how they make me feel. If you're not sociable, then come in and relax while you get a cut, if you like to converse they're that friendly to hold a convo with you. They're educated barbers with skills from scissors to buzzers, even hair washing if you wanted. NYC don't take it from me, try it for yourself and see, Fifth Avenue Barbers is the place to be!

Writing this review as I'm walking out after getting a haircut. This has been my go-to place since the past 2 years now. Steve and Igor are my go-to guys. If you want a no-frills, good, manly and quick haircut, then this is the place for you. No appointments required. Just walk-in, get a haircut that makes you feel good, and walk-out. Run by men, for men. I would rate it 10 stars if I could.

Am I the only one who will say the truth? In general it is disappointing, only one hairdresser really puts her thoughts into cutting your hair, the rest of them are basically rushing to get the work done. Yeah the price is quite affordable, but the result was awful. I don't know other people's experiences but I would never have that Robert or Susan cut my hair anymore. They are not taking their job seriously.

This is the spot only because of my barber Mark. He hooks me up every time I go there. He takes his time and makes good recommendation if you're not quite sure what kind of cut you looking for. If you have long beard and you want someone to shape it up, he's your guy. Very good price considering it's location. Super friendly staff so this will be my barber shop for a long time.

I am not a fan of the assembly line system and have never gotten the same guy to cut my hair twice, but I'm sure you can ask to wait for someone if you realpy want to. They are quick, like in and out in 10-15 minutes, max, on even a busy day.

Went in with a pic to make the cut easier, told the barber what I wanted. He did the bare minimum (one side was longer then the other) , didn't touch the top then was irritated that I reminded him that I still wanted the top trimmed and thinned out. Essentially he cut sections off with no texturing on the top ( essentially cut sections with no detailing). Good for short back and sides but don't expect much else. Churn and burn kinda place.

This was an amazing experience from the get go. I heard of this barbershop from my friends and since the second I walked in to the second I walked out, I was treated like family. They gave me exactly what I wanted and at a very reasonable price. They had excellent customer service and I didn't have to wait long for a haircut. Even if i had to wait, they provided excellent amenities such as new issues of magazines and a t.v. It was kept very clean and they would sweep between haircuts. I would highly recommend getting a haircut here as it offers excellent customer service and amazing haircuts and great prices.

I have to concur with all the other reviewers. I've tended to stay away from barber shops over the years, maybe because I've hoped I'd get a more hip, fashionable cut at salons. But I needed to find a new place and stumbled across this shop, and they went above and beyond anything I would have expected for the price. Ilena gave me a great cut-- she really took her time on it and did right, and then finished off my neck with a straight razor and warm shaving cream. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable and I didn't feel rushed at all. And, honestly, they could be charging a lot more. I will definitely go back.

My last review from was 2012, and the one I'm giving now has not changed one bit. I've been going to this Barber Shop since the day Steve opened up. It's by far, hands down, the best cut I have ever gotten and with a great price of $16; it is a no-brainer! I work down in the Financial District and commuted back to Long Island every day and would still make it a point to go for a cut here at least once a month (would even come all the way in to NYC from LI on the weekends to get a cut). Now that I'm living in NYC, it's even easier, especially being so conveniently located by Herald Square, with the convergence of multiple Subway lines. The couple times I came by for a haircut when Steve wasn't there, I let his other Barbers take care of me, and they're on point as well. It's an all-around great Barber Shop, and I'd recommend this to every guy that is looking for a truly sharp cut, and for the best price you're going to find in NYC.

Just moved up to the city in August... & was making the trip back down to DE monthly to get a haircut because I love my barber back home. One day, before heading out of town on a flight in the evening, I had to get a haircut. My only opportunity was to sneak out at lunch. This place happened to be conveniently close and gave it a shot. Ended up getting a great haircut, similar, if not better, to the one I get at home. I will be going back here next month. I found my new barber in the city. Give it a shot you won't be disappointed. I went to the chair furthest to the left. He was Greek.

Made a mistake that was only pointed out by his colleague after I had left the chair so he made me sit back down, sending off his next customer who had already been seated. Steve knows exactly what he's doing. He can prepare classic or modern day haircuts and stays on top of latest hair trends. You can show him a photo of the haircut you want and he'll recreate it with your hair. Every haircut always feels like his best haircut. The barbershop is also reasonably priced and the wait time is minimal. Definitely walk in if you want to easily and quickly improve your appearance.

This was my first and will be my last time here. The guy who cut my hair was fine. I have a shaved head and just had my weekly maintenance cut of a number zero all over. The guy who took my money wanted to charge me $20 when it clearly says $16 for regular cut. He pointed to the $20 on the price list - when I pointed out to him that $20 was price for long hair he just acted dumb like he couldnt speak english. I then tried to use the $2 off coupon on their website for first time customers. He refused it saying it was only for the long hair price - bullcr@p !!! It's a shame as this looks like a nice place and is actually reasonably priced but there are plenty of other good barbers in midtown and i dont't need to come to a place where they try to rip of new customers.

Great place for a haircut. Everyone cuts well but I always wait on Steve who is the owner. It's never a rushed cut even if there are people waiting, which is usually the case. My disgruntled barber charged an extra $10 for a “clean up” in addition to the $10 beard trim for running his razor against the back of my neck once. They were rude and obstinate when I pointed out that I was not notified, and that it was unjust. New place next time!

TL;DR Try a haircut (seemed ok from what I saw of others) but pass on the shave unless you like your face getting cut a bunch. I want to preface that I came in here for a shave, so take what I say with a grain of salt as I imagine that they are better at cutting hair. Initially I felt the shave was going well and that I was basically being treated to a luxury I normally wouldn't indulge in; honestly the price was a tad high but I didn't care as I just wanted to treat myself. Immediately after I stepped outside I felt the cold wind rip at the innumerable cuts that were left on my face from the shave. I know every now and then I might cut myself shaving but I've never cut myself that many times (over a dozen distinct cuts). I'm probably not going to return here, mainly because I'm not from the area, but also from this experience.

They helped up fix up my crown after my previous hairdresser botched it up. Friendlier than a few other barber shops I've been to around midtown Manhattan, and also really well priced. If you have an idea already of how you like your haircut, this place will get it done.

I've been coming to this place for a haircut for several years. Since I work in the neighborhood, I had a chance to try multiple places, but finally decided to stick to this place. The staff is friendly and very efficient. The atmosphere is great and relaxing. Great place to get a good haircut under 20 bucks. For me it's usually not very easy to describe what haircut I want exactly. Nevertheless they always get it right. And, if you need an advice, they would suggest you a haircut.

This barbershop is definitely the best I've been to due to its consistently. I come in once a month and their haircuts are always spot on. Steve usually cuts my hairs and he already knows what I usually get as soon as I walk in. The wait time is also usually minimal, if there is any wait time. Everything is swift and on point. The price is also fair (if not cheap) for the quality of the work. Overall, I would definitely recommend this barbershop.

It is the worst experience I had. I cut my hair and bear in a lots of countries but this one is the worst: I went for a hair and bear cut. The hair cut is not precise and look messy. The bear was not adequatly cut and shaved I had to go home and finish the job. I am not coming back again. Some advice: increase the luminosity and listen to the Customer. What he wants is the best.

I went there because i read the comments but honestly I don't think I would ever go there again. The guy who cut my hair was probably a really nice guy but he couldn't understand English and his hands were shaking during the cut. I tried to ask him how he is doing and tried to start a conversation to calm him down but it only made it worse. Again the guy seems to be really nice but not a great hair cut skills. If you guys still wanna go there make sure you have the right person to cut your hair. Try to have a conversation before you sit on that chair.
