This was one of the easiest 5's to give in a long time. ( And rate people in healthcare for a living so I am quite critical) I have lived in many of the largest and most discriminating cities in the US and found finding a new barber is similar to going to the dentist. There are many options but few I'd want to stake my reputation in. When I stumbled into the Bostonian in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston, which I consider to be one of the busiest and fasting growing areas in the city, I felt immediately at home and comfortable. Jared not only cuts hair like no one I have ever met, but he gets to know you and doesn't forget what's important to you as a customer. Jared meets you where you are without ever leaving the site - that's talent mist will never understand. His customer sevice is superior to most and his technical prowess will not be equalled. The vibe in the shop is chill, and bantering but all in good fun and quite entertaining. I actually look forward to seeing Jared every two weeks and know that all I have to is show up and he will work his magic while helping me work mine with confidence because I'm going to be rocking a solid look cabaple for the Board Room while making easy to hang with the Guys on the streets and at the gym. In this unpredictable world with little loyalty, Jared at the Bostonian has won my business for life until I sadly move to another city. It's simple - go to Bostonian, choose Jared, it's worth the wait, your friends will think you are paying a furtune and only you Know the truth. Go now, go often, tell your friends. Boom

Very late review but I wanted to make sure I gave credit where it was due. As a female that prefers to fade her hair, I can be quite hesitant about trying new barbershops. I came about a month ago and Ryan was awesome. Made me feel comfortable and overall gave me a great cut. Will be going back...on Wednesday lol. Also great music selection

Those guys are good barbers, I had the same kind of haircut for 5 years, and Nate got me rid of that stupid do-over that I was so fed up with. He gave me a really nice haircut, much nicer than the one I had before, and I rarely like the haircuts I get. I should've done that way before. Anyway they got a great service, they even gave me a cold one since I was the last client of the day. Top notch barber shop, highly recommend.

Decided to try this place on a whim. The amount of time and attention to detail on my haircut and beard trim was incredible. This is how all visits to a barbershop should be. It may not be the cheapest haircut you can get, but it is by far the best. Nate did a phenomenal job, and I can't wait to go back. Highly recommended.

Got a haircut from Chris. He began by asking what sort of cut I would like and I described it to him. He then began, and I asked a question about the length he was going for. He got extremely butt-hurt suddenly out of nowhere and rudely questioned whether or not I trusted him, and explained that he had been cutting hair for 20 years and knew what he was doing. He rushed through the rest of the cut and I was anxious to get out of there. Upon examining my hair later, he did a terrible job and left uncut hair all over the place, giving my hair an unkempt look. Can't speak for the other barbers here but Chris is terrible, don't go to him.

This place needs to improve on customer service. I will admit that part of the reason why I waited for nearly an 1.5 hrs for a haircut was because I selected a specific barber as opposed to the "next in line option." I unknowingly committed this mistake as it was my first time at the shop. However, none of the barbers took interest in asking why I had been waiting for so long when it was evident other customers, who came in after me, were being serviced. When I finally asked why others were being prioritized, the barber I spoke to (barber #1) didn't even offer to investigate/resolve the issue. He just said " I don't know man." It wasn't until another barber, who I assume is the manager, came in and helped update my queue status in the system, that my situation was addressed. Things that I observed while waiting for such a long period of time: 1) The two barbers who sit closest to the register do nothing but badmouth customers once they walk out the door. 2) Barber #1 refusing to attend a customer for asking his hair to be cut using a specific technique. I do not necessarily disagree with the barber saying no when the customer wasn't open to the barber's creative input. The thing I disagree with was how barber #1 mocked the customer for his request in a manner that was so evident to everyone in the store (literally yelled it). You are in a service industry, I do not know if you realize this, but the customer is to be treated with respect. 3) Barber #1 not paying attention or showing any interest at another customer he serviced. The customer was simply communicating to the barber what he wanted, and barber #1 was literally doing everything in his power not to pay attention to the customer or what he was saying (staring out the window, etc) 4) Barber #1 mocking multiple customers in a sarcastic manner. Example: Customer - "Yeah, I sort of need a haircut. My hair has gotten long lately." Barber #1 - (Vividly Sarcastic) "Yeah buddy, you NEED a haircut" Customer - "Yeah well at least I have enough hair to need one." The customer's response was so soothing that barber #1 had no response. Well deserved for someone who had poorly treated customers for the past hour+. That being said, the 4 barbers who sit closest to the end of the shop seem professional and serviceable. Bottom line, if you get serviced by barber #1, good luck, you are in for a wild ride.

This review is a long time coming… I have had the pleasure of getting my hair cut @ Bostonian Barber Shop 4 times now (in a row at that too). To name drop the barbers I’ve had (in order of seeing them), Chris (twice), Bobby, and Packer. Thank you to each of you for making me feel confident as I leave the shop. As a member of the LGBTQ community I have felt comfortable every time I have gotten my hair cut. Trust me, it’s rare to feel comfortable as a woman in a barber shop when you have short hair. After 6 years of searching for a barber shop that A. did a good job & B. made me feel comfortable, I have found the one. You might think this place is expensive but for me, I truly feel it is worth it. Also, with a walk in schedule, IT CAN GET BUSY… but these guys are good and again, they are worth it. I never feel they rush, even when the place is packed with people. Thank you Bostonian Barber Shop!

After several bad haircut experiences, I gave this place a shot. I have medium to long hair which seems to be difficult for most barbers to handle. Chris did an excellent job taking off about 5 inches of hair and giving me a whole new look. Second time I went in Jared cut my hair and it came out exactly how I asked. Don’t plan on going anywhere else as long as I live in the Boston area. Highly recommend

It's fairly expensive, but the guys that give you a haircut know how to do so. I was torn between A 4 and A 5 star rating because well I love my hair cut sometimes the guys distract them self with their comments and playful banter to the point that it seems like they forget that they're there to cut your hair. I love the fun they have at work but sometimes I just want my haircut. Overall I chose a five because I like the vibe most times, when they don't go overboard and I always get a good cut and shave.

I went to Bostonian Barber Shop for the first time yesterday. I went in and chose to have my hair cut by the first available barber. Chris cut my hair and I told him that I wanted something new and stylish and that he could do whatever he thought would look good. He did his thing and it turned out amazing. I love the haircut, the price is reasonable, and the service is top notch. I've found my new regular barber. Highly recommend.
