Since I haven't paid for a haircut in over 10 years, it took a lot for me to go to a barber. I called first thing in the morning and got an appointment for noon the same day. Gabe was professional, friendly, and skilled. I plan on making this shop my regular place. Their rates are competitive and they've been in business since the 1930's.

When I moved to the area I tried out a few places around Mission, but Barbers IV is where I go whenever I need a haircut. The guys are welcoming and the cuts are great. I'd highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality and loyal barbers.

They ONLY take appointments now. This is a change from previous. Ed is a very quiet man, and will give you an old school nod when you come if he doesn't know you, and will address you when he's done with whatever portion of the cut he is on. (full attention paid to the task at hand.) Also, they seem to stay fairly busy all the time so don't expect them to roll out the red carpet for you when you come in. I've been in several times when someone comes in looking to get their hair fixed from the horrible job the chains did, and they're happy to help them, just make an appointment. Ed is the only man in town that I've found that I can stand to get my hair cut from. No gimmicks. Minimal talk (introvert here). And most importantly, he does a fantastic job every time. Do yourself a favor and skip the "breastuant" equivalents of barbers that are "Sport Clips" and the like, and hit up a real barber.

Been to this place several times now and Gabe cuts the best hair of any barber I've ever had. The people that are complaining don't realize that they seemingly started to have longer and longer wait times from the walk-in method. I would attribute that to being a great place to get your haircut. I love coming here and appreciate local business. Keep on doing what you're doing and I'll be back often.

I called to try and make an appointment. First time caller and I had no idea how their booking system worked, I was greeted with very short blunt answers and so I thanked them and hung up. Didn't seem interested in gaining my business, even when I explained I was a new customer.

Bad attitude, i called before going and was told by the barber I wanted, the shop was open till 6 and he would be there. I left after being turned down 12 minutes before closing, as I was told the shop closes in 2 minutes, thereafter I drove 35 blocks at 35mph and by 6 I was home. The sign in the window said walk ins welcome. Apparently six doesn't mean 6. I tried this shop before and was turned away by the only barber with no customer claiming he required appointments 3 years before, the only reason I reversed my decision was seeing a customer who wears his hair the way I do, and he recommended it, I explained my previous experience but gave it a try anyway, you can ignore a bad experience once, but now having a second, there won't be a chance for a third.

Well my experience wasn't actually an experience. Walked in their establishment 20 minutes ago . I got no greeting as a first time customer. Basically if a barber shop could come across as arrogant or snooty this was the place. After 2 minutes I asked if I needed an appointment. I was bruntly told no but I decided to take my business elsewhere. Besides almost 20 bucks a haircut from unpolite dudes is not my idea of a goid experience.

Both Gabe and Ed do a great job. I always get a great cut, and it's a very relaxed barber shop with all kinds of characters coming through there. Stopped in about 4 years ago on a recommendation from a friend and have been a loyal customer ever since.

I walked in and sat down and then was told that Saturday's were their only walk in days. No indication on their website. It is a barber shop. I had a hair cut there the last time and no mention of appointments. They have lost my business.

Had a great haircut! Ed took the extra time to make sure every detail was perfect and did exactly what I asked. The two barbers I've met have two different personalities, some of the reviews here say they're rude... well the staff can be a bit gruff at first but don't take it personally. At first I was caught off guard but we ended up having a good conversation and I really enjoyed my time there.

Called to make appointment with Gabe and was told he did not take appointments. Walked in and nobody said hello or greeted us. I had to ask if anybody was available. They told me they were booked for the next two hours. I try to support small/local businesses but they act like you are bothering them when you try to give them business. Terrible customer service. Guess I'll just go to Supercuts.

I have gotten my hair cut several times now by Gabe and I am definitely a repeat customer! I love that you get a beer (for free) with your haircut. Price is reasonable at $19, especially considering they shave your neck with a real straight razor, not just buzz it. I haven't had my hair cut by Ed but he seems to be very friendly as well.

Walked in hoping to try out a new barber shop. Right when I walked in they stared as if I was in the wrong for walking into their store unannounced, and in a rude soft tone said they only take appointments. Took my business to another shop with more welcoming service.

Barbers Four can cut some serious hair. The ability to make an appointment and show up everytime not needing to wait is something more traditional barber shops don't offer so I'm left sitting in a queue for hours waiting for my turn. No thanks. Gabe's hair cutting skills and technique is the best I've seen in 44 years. They make the place feel extremely welcome, TVs are always on playing a movie while you get serviced, and they've even got complimentary refreshments if you are parched. Tip: make your appointment online and try to plan a couple days to a week in advance. They fill up and stay filled up with returning customers. It's very reasonably priced for the quality of service you get so don't be scared to tip generously. If you want a quick, sloppy, ugly haircut, don't come here...pretty sure you can walk into Walmart or supercuts if you're wanting to walk out looking like a clown. Nothing against clowns, they seem like good people.
