This place has a very cool vibe to it, as well. Usually getting a haircut seems kind of like a chore to me that I truly try to avoid for as long as possibly. This place, though, I am excited to go back to.

Must Go. This is exactly the sort of downtown barber experience Des Moines was missing. Robin was fantastic and you get an opportunity to enjoy a craft brew while as well. Location is fantastic and schedule is super easy. Highly recommended and will be a staple for me.

Cool atmosphere, the barbers/cosmetologists seem skilled from the cuts I saw walking out. My experience with Emmah was awesome. I got a straight razor head shave, beard trim, and straight razor beard line-up. The head shave was great, and pretty relaxing (I almost fell asleep). It's something I would splurge on every once in a while, but I'm usually okay with shaving my head my self. Same with the line-up, I'm glad I got it, but it's an every once in awhile thing. But she killed it with the beard trim! Best trim I have ever gotten, the shape was on point. I got a couple of compliments a few days after the trim, and I agree, it looks much better than the homeless man trim I do myself. Kudos to Emmah, I'll be sure to be back.

For hipsters. Not for everyday haircuts. If you're hip, you'll like it I think. I'm not hip. Had a bad experience here. During my haircut, the stylists were having a very vulgar conversation, amongst themselves. Hardly spoke to the customers at all. They were rude to each other, and particularly to an older employee there, whose job I believe was to sweep hair. He kept trying to sit down in the chairs for guests and the owner, I think, yelled at him for it. The cut I got was not what I wanted. They faded my sideburns, which doesn't fit me at all. The stylist got halfway through one before I asked her what she was doing, and she was mortified, but we had to do both sides after that, because we were too far along. They comped the haircut, but I paid for the beard trim, which was quite expensive by itself.

First time customer today and had an appointment, which was sat down right at that time. I asked for a bald fade which I recieved but before when i mentioned bald fade the lady said well I dont know if I will have time to do that... really? I made an appointment and cant get a cut I came in for!? I read reviews and heard good things about Dapper DSM. Maybe it was just a bad experience this time but I would have loved to spent over $50 and got the cut a shave and line up but obviously there was no reason to ask to get those services as they were worried about even cutting my hair. It would have been awesome walking out knowing I've found my new barber for all my cuts

I had such a wonderful experience. I was really nervous to go to a barber for the first time since coming out as trans-- I don't know any of the cool barber lingo, and in the past at salon's I'd occasionally get some rude remarks. But I walked in, the atmosphere was awesome, everyone was so friendly (even the other clients!), and THERE WAS A DOG, who definitely deserves employee of the month. I got a great cut from Emma, and walked out feeling so much more confident and like myself. Super awesome, super inclusive place with great barbers.
