I’ve been going here for over a year now. Safe to say that this is my go to shop for hair cuts. I’ve tried on a variety of styles and have gotten cuts from all three barbers (who are all fantastic). Growing up, I always wondered where those movie like barbershops were, where you could kick back and feel comfortable while getting a cut by people you know by name (in a great atmosphere). This is the spot! Do it. Book that appointment! P.S. - Brought my little nephew here too. He loves it as well!

Clean and professional. All 3 barbers know what they're doing and you can't make a wrong choice. The guys are very friendly and personable and they did a great job on my sons' hair. This is the first time they actually liked getting their hair cut. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

I've been going to Chris Bentley for a few months now. I usually go in not knowing how to explain what I want, and he does a great job asking questions and helping me figure out what I want done. My favorite part is his beard & mustache work - I've never been to anyone who can make me feel as relaxed; and he does an incredible job as while he's at it. I'd highly recommend Chris to anybody, but especially those of us who like their facial hair to be on point.

I am poor at planning and so I do walk-ins often too so I have also gotten cuts from Jimbo and Chase. I've always left very happy no matter who has cut my hair.

I get my hair cut just once a year, at a time of my wife's choosing. Right now I'm sitting on about 13 inches of long, brown locks, and I am pretty protective of them, as I've been growing my hair out for about 4 years now. However, this year we were short on time, getting ready for a wedding, and had to just trust whoever we could find. I am so so glad that we found Chris. He was a joy to work with, a real, natural conversationalist, and a skilled barber. He did just enough to make me look good for the wedding, but kept the length and volume of my hair and beard. Honestly, he's the kind of barber who makes me wish I got haircuts more often. Keep up the great work my man, and I'll see you next year!

One of the best haircuts I've ever had. Booked with Chris online the day before and instantly I could tell the atmosphere was very relaxing. Many times at other shops you feel rushed but this was not the case at all. He explained everything he was doing and even gave tips on how to style and the hot towel finish was the icing on the cake. These skilled barbers are here to improve your confidence. Not only do they give you an incredibly haircut, but they also teach you how to style it as well. I've gone to Jimbo since this lovely place opened! His attention to detail is incredible. I always feel like I'm part of their family when in the chair. Easy conversation that sometimes includes other barbers and clients. They are amazing with kids too! If a distraction is ever needed, they also have video games in the back for clients to play. I cannot express how much you are missing by not visiting this place.

I’ve been shopping around for a good barber for haircuts and beard trims. After some hit and misses with other places, I came across The Barber Story and thought I would try him out. I’m extremely glad I did because Chris is by far the best barber I have been to in Boise. He is very talented and has a good eye for detail. We always have interesting conversations about all sorts of different things like science, video games, art, facial hair, and jiu jitsu. I was initially impressed by the comforting and relaxed atmosphere of The Barber Story. Chris, Jimbo, and Chase have created a masterpiece with The Barber Story. After searching for months, I've found my barber in Boise. For that, I am still ecstatic. The pleasure of having Jimbo cut my hair was monumental. He radiates positivity and it shows in his work. Jimbo paid attention to his craft and has found his style and perfected it. His work is fueled by passion. He is a barbers that likes to cut hair the way I like to have my hair cut. He sees the value in a clean look without sacrificing length to achieve it. Not only did I have a great time while getting my cut, I was welcomed to watch movies while a friend of mine got an equally impressive cut by Jimbo. After my cut, Jimbo helped me get the products I needed to keep my hair looking fresh. Not only that, but he taught me how to replicate the style and explained the processes in a way that anyone could understand. Jimbo is a professional and an expert, I couldn't have any higher regard. The picture speaks for itself, but I hope your experience at The Barbers Story can be as appealing as mine. I know I'll be looking for mirrors for awhile.

The Barber Story is a shop nestled into Latah St in Boise, Idaho. I made an appointment with the owner, Chris Bentley to take my undercut back down to skin. When I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome and instantly felt like I had just met back up with an old friend. Chris has what I can only describe as an "Edward Norton-esque" enthusiasm for life and people. I was able to talk to him in between appointments and the passion he has for his business really inspired me. We talked about the goal of The Barber Story and Chris expressed the desire to have the shop be a modern barber experience. I asked him what that meant to him. He whipped out his phone and showed me a menu he had seen with both men and women's hair options on them, illustrated with pictures. Then went on to say that he wants a clean lined, positive environment where both men and women feel welcome to come. To get away from the "man cave" stigma that surrounds barber shop mentality. I completely agree with his assessment. As a woman with short hair for the last couple of years, I would go into barber shops to have my hair cut or undercut straight razored and the mood changed when I walked through the door. I felt the opposite when entering The Barber Story and LOVE the service I received. Both barbers in The Barber Story were friendly, engaging with their clients, and took time to educate about styling/products to achieve the ideal finished look. I highly recommend them for any of your hair cutting needs. Thanks for letting me hang out and get to know you, guys!

I (as most people are) am picky at how I want my haircut to look, I've tried numerous salons and barbershops. I went to The Barber Story after my partner was helping me find a place to go, after hearing what they do and in desperate need of a haircut. I booked my appointment the day before, I will not lie I was nervous at how my experience would be at a new barber. That was all placed at easy when I walked through the door, the placed looked soooo relaxed and welcoming. Liz was my barber and let me tell you...she listened to how I wanted my hair down, she asked questions and gave her advice and explained how to she would start. After a while and what looked like a new furry animal on the ground; Liz revealed the work she had done. Top 3 best haircuts I've ever had in my life, thanks to her I feel confident in myself and at landing new jobs. Best believe I'll be going back.

Keep in mind this review is only based on my interaction I had in their shop today, not a judge of the work they do. I tried contacting this shop twice in the morning, twice in the afternoon, with no answer on their telephone. I noted from both their website and Yelp that they took walk ins. I don’t get my hopes up with walk ins and hold realistic expectations, so I decided to drive my two 9 year old kids from Kuna to go check out this shop today. They walked in excited seeing how “cool” this shop was decorated and they liked the “bro” vibe of it. But unfortunately I asked if they took walk ins and was told they wouldn’t be able to today cause they were booked full for the rest of the day. Was kinda bummed cause typically when a shop says they take walk ins they don’t usually “book up” or they tend to have one person who takes the walk in clients. Granted again I didn’t have high expectations so in a bummed but honestly genuine way I let them know like, hey, I totally drove out here from Kuna and tried to call you guys multiple times just so we could try to see what to expect in advance before coming out here - just as a you know from customer point of view for the future. After I mentioned this is where I have my problem, as a store owner I would expect a simple sorry we’ve been swamped or hey I appreciate you taking the time to come check us out let’s try to make an appointment. Instead - I was told by owner of this place “Well I could be the guy who answers phones, or I could be the guy who is cutting hair, and I decided to be the guy who cuts hair.” Im sorry, but if your running a business and you can’t answer 5 calls in between 10am-2pm isn’t that room for improvement? Or potentially a need for a secretary if your feeling that condescending about it? I was just a mom trying to get my kids haircut and read some great reviews that lead me to after this comment feeling like I wasted an hour of my time and gas driving for a shop owner to make me feel like me and my family’s time was not important. On a positive side note - Jim, I believe is his name with the chair on the end seemed like a stand up guy who tried to find me an alternative place to go today looked up on google even, and at least acknowledged me and my kids being there, so I did appreciate that aspect. Thanks.

Jimbo did an amazing job. When my hair was left in a butchered mess, from a different shop, Jimbo was able to fix it. He gave me the exact cut I wanted while keeping the length.
