This was my first time at Juan's and I have yet to meet a barber that was as personable and professional as Juan. Immediately upon returning to my office, I had three compliments from other guys! My wife thought my cut looked terrific; my mother in law mentioned my hair looked really good too (btw, only my wife's compliments matter ). The funny thing is, I don't really care about my hair other than keeping it short. Wow, I think I might start working out next. Thanks Juan, you turned my life around; and I now I know the difference between a fade and a taper. Amazing!

I am from out of town and I used the website to schedule an appt. After finding the shop, April was simply amazing. I enjoyed the experience, but the actual beard trimming met or exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was fantastic and if I lived in Boise, this would be my regular experience. I'm counting the days until I return. 5+ stars. Awesome.

Excellent. Got the don special with April. One of very best haircuts/shaves I have ever had. Price was beyond reasonable (same quality cut and shaved costs me $50-75 in DC.) I also like the vibe. It's not a hipster joint and is just a nice traditional barbershop. Highly recommended!

Love the vibe of this place and how friendly the people are! The online appointment scheduling is super slick too. I stumbled upon this place cuz I needed someone to fix the mess that was my failed attempt at a fade. Aaron straightened things out for me and he's taken care of me every time since. Downtown parking is the only potential hassle, but the service makes it totally worth it.

Best place in town for a reasonably priced, high quality and comfortable haircut. As a student that has traveled from Coeur d'Alene, to Idaho Falls, to Pocatello, and now to Boise, I have yet to find a better hair cut service than these gentlemen offer. I cannot speak for everyone there, but if they are half the barber that Kacey is, they still deserve 5 stars. You can tell that Kacey enjoys what he does, and very few people put the amount of effort in their work as he does. I have never felt like a nuisance to him and have always left feeling like he truly cared about the quality of the haircut. This is the kind of place that has me looking forward to my next hair cut, and would recommend 10 out of 10 times to anyone whose main concern is a quality haircut!

It was good experience overall, but I noticed that on the website it said 20$ per cut and I was charged 25$. Additionally the barber was in a hurry and wasn't that focused on detail. It should be a great fit for someone that has easier hair to deal with.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... there's no better shop in town than Don Juan's Barbershop. Guy uses the best straightrazors for close shaves, shapes beards perfectly, amazing haircuts, and killer product for sale that he'll never push on you. This is the dude that got me into using straightrazors, and I've been learning best practices and getting top quality kit from him ever since. Generally, when you hear "basement barbershop, straightrazors, beardcare" you assume it's going to invoke the unholy trifecta of men's grooming that's run rampant in trendy communities: expensive, hipsteriffic, and pretentious... - but DJ's isn't any of those things.His prices are criminally low, he's beyond down-to-Earth, and I've seen very few service providers (in any sector) that treat patrons with such respect, understanding, and the kind of assertive confidence that can only come from an expert. These are things you want in a person when they're putting a hot blade against your face. Time and time again, I see this guy go above and beyond the call. Tonight, it was catering to my ridiculous hairstyle ask as well as helping me get my hands on a rare & special shavette I've wanted to get for Jennie (Starshine) for ages, then taking the time to show me the nuances of that particular straight. I can't recommend 'em enough... it's been crazy to go from seeing Juan have downtime and marketing himself to fill his schedule, to where he is now: packed solid and wildly popular. Despite that, the guy always has time for me, and he will for you too. People ask me sometimes why I like Boise so much. Why Boise is the city i've spent the most time in since I left Austin, where I was born and raised. Sometimes this is preceded by extensive and ignorant potato-trolling... I pay that no mind, I know this town. Other times, they ask in earnest... in short, small businesses like these, and craftsmen like Don Juan are emblematic of the spirit of this rapidly-growing little city. There are a million little reasons to love this place, and all the time in the world to discover those treasures... this is one of them.

I've been going here regularly for 6 months. The first words that come to mind (after stumbling upon the shop in the basement across from Superb Sushi) are "Professional" and "Clean". The owner always looks sharp in a shirt and tie, always asks for details on exactly how you want your hair to be cut, and a beard trim / neck shave (with hot towel) is always included. Like another reviewer said, i've found my go-to barber. (He offers military discounts as well, and is great with military fades).

Terrible experience I made an appointment with Aaron I showed out 15 to 20 min early to my appointment (can't help it it's the military in me if your on time you're late if you're early on time) so I expected to wait till my appointment time but the 15 minutes past my appointment time was when I decided to walk out it would have been no big deal to wait but Aaron just let me sit there and gave me no heads up he was running late ( which to me is just common courtesy and good customer service) and neither of the other 2 barbers said anything to me either until I decided to leave when one of them finally says something to me when I tell him he can cancel my appointment and even then all I got was a "oh he's almost done" it kind of sucks cause they are extremely close to my house so it would have been great to find a regular place.
