The owner did an amazing job at fixing it and making his hair look great. He worked well with my 8yr old and he finally has a hair cut that looks great. I've had long hair for a while and I need to trim it to make it look better because it was getting bad. First time going and I asked for 2 inches off the sides and top. The barber then buzzed my hair. If u have short hair this is probably a great play but for longer hair go somewhere else.

American Barber one of the best barber shop I've been.Brought my kids in and we were in and out with wonderful cuts 20 minutes later.Quick haircut for my guys.Always happy with his cut.Love the environment very kid friendly. Vadem and the other employees were so sweet and good with my kids.Vadem cut my sons hair, and I was extremely pleased.He was nice and funny, but most importantly he did an excellent job.Always a great experience coming here. Everyone makes us feel comfortable from the moment we walk in until we leave. The establishment is unfussy, always clean & great atmosphere. Worst hair cut I've ever had. Didn't cut the side burns evenly and didn't get the haircut I asked for at all. Even cut open part of my neck. Definitely not worth what I payed for. I usually do a better job at cutting my hair myself. Never going there again.

I went there today evening for a beard trim. The lady did a horrible job and ruined the entire growth formation. After repeatedly telling her the way i wanted her to shape it and to trim the sides, she just shaped it round. Adding to that she trimmed my moustache too short and now it does not match the beard. I had to clean shave after 2.5 months of growing the beard. Guess you understand the frustration. Never coming back.

Took my guy friend here yesterday. The man who cut his hair did not do it right. Not only that but he did not ask him if he wanted anything he would just start doing it. So if you like to pay for stuff without being asked first,have stuff sprayed on you every 3 minutes,and not get the haircut you want this place is for you. It is a shame. The atmosphere was neat. They seemed nice. Possibly just the guy we got. But first impressions are huge. And this left a bad one. Something I noticed. Everyone left covered in hair. The little blower they use just blows it all around. Back to the drawing board. In hindsight I note that the pictures on the net of the haircuts. Are the guy who specializes in that cut. This is a detail not noted anywhere. It is basically in comments. So maybe you will have better luck knowing that weirdness. But I will never get my guy friend back through that door.

The best barber shop in town hands down. I mean the treatment I get when I walk through those doors is unbelievable. I try to go every week there but if busy there isn't a way that I'll miss it the second week around. The person that does the best men's cut for me is Mack. I swear I think this guy have a PHD in cutting hairs. Just to perfection. I strongly recommend this place and for sure you'll be satisfied with experience there. You'll be walking out and feeling like a million bucks. And you'll look so good they well call you a Uber because there scared you driving home looking at yourself so much. He takes his time, even with a short all-over clipper cut which some places tend to rush through. He makes sure you look your best before you leave his chair.

To start I’m not normally one to write reviews, let alone give a business two stars, but my experience was not a good one. This would be my first and last visit to this barber shope. I went in on a Saturday morning getting there right as they opened. I was the first there and was greeted by one person at the desk as the others were setting up for the day. I sat for maybe 10 minutes and then was greeted by one of the barbers. (I can’t remeber what his name was or how to spell it but it started with a V ) I told him I was coming in for the first time and was interested in getting a fade. He then sat me down and I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he told me “ No that won’t work your hair isn’t long enough for that cut.” I then told him it’s what I always get and he then told me again the same thing and proceed to spin me around in the chair pointing out on my head why a fade wouldn’t work and why that certain cut wouldn’t “look good” and wouldn’t be turning out well. I was furious at that point and just agreed with whatever cut he was going to do. As he cut he didn’t talk to me, didn’t ask how I was doing or even start a simple conversation, so I just sat there the whole time with not a word spoken to me. (That’s not very good customer service) As he was cutting, he continually asked me “something like this?” (Shouting you know what your doing as you are cutting??) but in reality, it was not at all what I wanted, but didn’t want to say anything because to him, what I wanted and got all the time “wouldn’t look good” Towards the end he got done and it didn’t even look at all what I asked for and it was not a good cut. The fade was uneven(still is) and my side trimming is two different shades on either side and my lining on the back is not centered. Over all it was the worst cut I’ve ever gotten and I am very displeased with my experience as a first time customer. The place itself was very welcoming but everything after literally fell apart and was not fun at all. I will not be returning.

If you need a hair cut and you are in the Atlanta area then I would recommend this barber shop. No appointment is needed. I remember the first time I was there I probably waited five or ten minutes. The over all experience was great. The guys here really take there time to make sure you get a high quality hair cut. They use all of the latest mens hair accessories. I was very impressed. I asked for a high fade with skin on the side and they gave me exactly what I wanted. These guys know what they're doing. I left the man a $10 tip. I will be back!

Horrible place to go. Went for a haircut today, asked for 2 and later that was not short enough for me so I asked for 1on the sides only. The lady completely messed up she went 1 almost to the top and from that point it was fixing up the mess. It was shorter on one side and longer on the other side but she kept justifying her act. I had to call somebody else to fix it up. For this total mess they charge $22 +tip. I wish I could give 0 rating

Finally, a decent hair cut. I've gone to cheaper hair cutters for years, and they've always done a decent job of giving me exactly what I asked for, to disastrous result. I told Marcio what I usually do and how little care I've taken with my hair and he put me right. A clean cut and neckline and a little product that will take less time to style than I usually spend trying to beat my hair into submission in the morning. Bonus, it cost little more than the cheap chains charge. I'll definitely be back.

We had an awful experience. My son has longer hair and we went in for a trim. We discussed the cut with both the stylist and manager before we went to the chair. First the stylist said his hair looked like a girl's (should have politely left at that point - his hair is above the collar), then she picked up a lock and cut off three inches. I got the manager, and we had to go thru two other stylists to even the area, (the two argued about how to fix it) but the result was a disaster and has taken months to grow out. The manager did give us a $20 coupon for a return visit, which will go unused.

A close friend of mine referred me to American Barber Shop in Cumming. He had received what appeared to be a very nice shave and beard trim. I was informed by him the guy to see there was Mack and that he was very keen and meticulous. After seeing and hearing about a great experience I figured it would be a good place to go. I have always been a straight forward guy at the barber; I get my head shaved with a #1 guard. It's really hard to screw that up but my selling point for American Barber was the beard trim. I HAD a very nice, long, burly beard and handlebar/flared mustache that was never professionally cut. I have always shaved my head and cleaned up my beard once a week for maintenance, but figured it was time to treat myself and have a second set of eyes even out my beard and taper the sides. I took a lunch break from work to go get trimmed up and was impressed walking in. The establishment was very nicely put together and looked very professional. As soon as i sat down I noticed there were a couple gentlemen sitting, scrolling through their phones waiting for whom I assumed would be Mack or other barber at work. A very sweet and cordial barber approached me and asked if I was next and I accepted; being on lunch break I didn't have time to wait for Mack or anybody else hard at work. Based on the environment and extensive beard products I thought the entire staff would be qualified for anything. I was sat down and gave straight forward instructions on my cut, #1 on top, taper the sides of my beard a little, remove the stragglers on the sides, shave my cheek line and don't take any of the length off. I asked her if she trimmed beards and was given a naive almost cocky "of course" answer. The hair cut was fantastic, tight and prim; I really enjoyed it. She started to trim my beard. Trimmed the stray hairs, tapered the sides, shaved my cheek line, looked great. Then she kick the chair back, I thought she was cleaning up my astray hairs and neckline but it was much more. She managed to trim off about half my beard length and bare trimmed a half inch from the bottom of my neck leaving me terrible razor burn. I saw plenty of razor burn cream that probably just sits on the shelf. Once I was looking at myself I was in shock how short it was and at this point, had to let her trim my untouched mustache to proportion. I held my finger to my mustache showing the length to trim off and this is pretty much why I posted this review. My mustache is just shy of a half inch shorter on my right side and I'm am not thrilled. At all. It will probably take, respectively, four to five months to get my beard back to where is was. So bottomline if you're high and tight this is the place for you. Big beard fella's, I'd take my business elsewhere. Personally I am going to invest in a nice set of shears and scissors and will diligently take care of myself since I can't find a decent review for beard trimming within a twenty mile radius of Cumming.

Loyal customer no more I've been going to this place for about 3 years with no complaints. However, I'm convince now that was because I had short hair. In 2018 I started to grow my hair out. The past two times I have been here, I told the barber (two different barbers) - "I'm growing my hair out. Don't touch the top, just clean up the edges." That's word for word what I told them. BOTH times, the barber proceeded to cut over an inch off the top - pushing me back months each time. The first time it happened, not a big deal - things happen. Now that it's happened twice, it's time to find another barber. It's unfortunate, because this is much closer to my house than any other shops, but I'll drive a little farther for a barber that actually listens to their clients. If you have short hair, this is probably a fine place to go. If you want to do anything else with your hair - stay away.

Who charges almost double money for same job? This place surely does!! My dad is Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s patient and sometimes he misses/ forgets to shave his beard and as he prefers to be cleaned shave, I have taken him to this shop in Cumming. (American Barber Shop - On GA 400, Exit 13) Now there is lady who said that since his beard his hard, she will charge me double - first to use the machine to trim his beard and than shave; however my point is that if I’m paying $50 in total for shave and haircut, why do I need to pay extra $16 to trim his shave? Aren’t they suppose to shave no matter how much beard a person is having?????!! At that point in time I didn’t argue with that lady as I was with my father who is not medically well so I choose to ignore!! However I’m not sure how and what kind of people this place hires; though, this place is not with professional people!!!

There's not a bad barber here! From classic or traditional cuts to trendy new styles they do it all. Great selection of products for hair, shaving and beards also. Mack, Khalid, Lelee, and Marcio have all cut my hair and although I have one that regularly cuts my hair they all do a great job!!

My husband has been getting his hair cut here for the past year or so. According to him, they are a traditional barber shop. Hot towel, straight razor, the works. All of the guys (and gal) have their own style of cutting, but they are all good. He is so happy he doesn't have to travel to get a real barber cut. Highly recommended.

Same price as many others with ten times the service and quality. Go see Jamal. Uses a razor to really make your hairline look great and is meticulous with his cuts. Most places use two blades when they do my cut. Jamal uses quite a few more to blend it perfectly and then scissor up top.

I just got a haircut by Leslie because my other barber wasn’t there. The customer service was awful and don’t even get me started on the haircut. I asked for a high skin fade which usually means you have to blend with multiple different lengths BUT NO this lady decides to grab a pair a clippers and just buzz of the sides completely so now my head looks like a mushroom. This has to be the worst haircut and service I’ve ever received
