A great place to get your hair cut and have a beer. Staff always seem to be smiling, talkative, and even the customers are friendly. It may be a longer wait than other places, but the wait is well worth it, and the conversations you have with people there are the icing on the cake. These ladies know how to trim and shape a beard better than I can and that’s why I drive across town to their location every time I need a cleaned up look. Don’t expect a fancy shop with hip hop music and hipsters. They’re talented old-school barbers that will freshen your look and get you on your way without a fuss. Bring cash and expect to wait at least 10 minutes. They don’t accept cards and are typically busy. But the wait isn’t bad at all.

I don’t write reviews a lot but I had to make an exception this time. I’ve gone to Caveman Barbershop 3 times now. So the first time with Patty she gives a good haircut I really enjoyed it enough to come back a second time. Well I didn’t get the guys name but his haircut was kinda bad it’s whatever I don’t have to get my haircut by him again. Well second time I went back Patty was busy with another customer so he was all that was left. So I decided to give him another chance and really try to explain what I wanted. I also have a job interview coming up so I didn’t want to look like some kind of hooligan. Well this guy jacked up my hair so bad!!! I really wish i could post photos because it was definitely not what I asked for. If I wanted haircuts like this I would just go to the babershop on post. I won’t be returning after this last haircut. If you decide to go have Patty cut your hair. I haven’t tried the other girl but she seems pretty good. But this experience was enough to say I won’t be going back.

I read the reviews and thought it sounded too good to be true, but this place lives up to the hype. Patty runs a great shop with a great philosophy. She said she's been doing this for over thirty years, and she's been to beauty school, but she opened her own place because she "didn't want to cut guy-style cuts, guys already ARE style." I went a couple a days after I got mangled at Costcutters, and I mentioned that while she was cutting my hair, and at the end she said "since you got a cut two days ago, this one is on the house." Talk about treating people right! I'm gonna go back for as long as she cuts hair.

The five star reviews for beards have to be family. I went in with a big, thick beard that my son sees as a security blanket. I left with a visually uneven, spiky mess that was haphazardly butchered. And tonight I have no beard. Ridiculously uneven mess. On top of that, the haircut was bad as well. Who shaves the peak off of one side but not the other? I have no idea why she did the one side as I’m not a razor line kind of guy. Thoroughly disappointed and nothing but robbed.

Disappointed! After reading such great reviews I expected a little more courtesy. I called to schedule an appointment and was told that they do not do appointments which was cool but could come in now. I told the gentleman that I was at work and wouldn't get off until 430, he said no problem come on in. When I got there at 445, I was told that I had to come back the next day or I could go to another barber. So I did. Found a barber shop Top Notch off of Platte and Tone got me in and out right away. Thank you for turning down my services and giving it to a real shop.

Found this place when I was in the military. I come from California where good barbers are a dime a dozen. I came to Fort Carson and could not find a good barber to save my life. Barbers on post are mediocre at best. I looked online and found Caveman Barber shop and refuse to go anywhere else. Even when they are swamped. I will just come back another day. Top notch. 5 stars because in Colorado Springs you will not find a better haircut for the price.

Walked in and was greeted by smiles and hellos. This is the kind of place you go to for atmosphere, if you are a regular they will remember your name, and a good hair cut. Eric was my barber and even though I am terrible at describing just what should be done with my hair he gave me a great cut. Only two thing to be aware of when going here. There are only two chairs in the entire place, so expect to wait a bit, and they only take cash, though the prices are great for the services they offer. These are good, kind, and experienced people, can't recommend this place enough.

Great men's barbershop, the owner/barber is very welcoming, she engages every customer and will have you laughing woth the barbershop banter. Id definitely recomend this barbershop for both men's haircut and/or beard trimmed up...i had both services and feel very satisfied. Even if they charged double id have still felt i got a good value. Oh and if you're 21+ you can have a beer...unfortunately for me i had things to do later that day and wasn't able to partake...but will next time.

Best barbershop I've ever been to. Went here for a span of about 6 months, would be going there for life if I still lived in the area. Would go with my roommate once a month or so and get our beards trimmed. The ladies here know how to cut a beard better than any other barber I've ever been to and I've been to a dozen. Every single time I've gone to another barber shop, I've always felt like I got ripped by paying for beard trim versus what I got, never had any discrepancies here.

First time I took my dad, he loved the old-fashioned shave and hot towels. My dad is 96 yrs. old, I explained I had to arrange with home care providers to get him there. They said no problem, they don't take appointments but if I called ahead they could put him in line. Called today to get him in for a haircut & shave, was told 5 in line. He arrived with the provider & was told they couldn't get him in before they closed. The provider explained his age & what we were told. She was told that's not the way they do things. Sad, my dad would've become a weekly customer.

Too long of a wait. I could never get in, but I would keep going back and finally get there when I only had to wait for 1-2 guys in front of me. When Emma was there I got excellent haircuts, but since she left, the haircuts stink. Bad. Plus, they kinda act a bit bossy. I'll never go back. She unapologetically does not take appointments and is often very busy so the waits can be long. That's just the way it is. I've been getting my hair cut there for a couple years. If you want a place where you get friendly, personal attention, come to the Caveman Barber Shop on Murray between Carefree and Maizeland. Patty, Lydia, and Emma take pride in knowing their stuff and their people. They don't take appointments, but they do take their work seriously while clearly having fun. As I was waiting for my turn, they got a call from someone wanting a service they don't perform. They politely responded that they are "just regular barbers" and recommended a different local place that could maybe help the person on the phone. It's refreshing to see people dedicated to doing something and doing it well. As of this writing Men's cuts are $15; Ladies are $25; Active Military and First Responders are $10; and a Beard Trim is $7. They'll get to know you, and you'll be back.

Customer service here is PHENOMINAL but there are only 2 chairs. So, if you don't mind waiting a bit it is well worth it especially if you are active duty (only $10 which could include skin fades w/ a razor, normally $15 per cut; ). They don't take appointments but I'd suggest calling ahead to see how many people are waiting. It could save you some time. Besides only 2 chairs & CASH ONLY (that's why 4 stars) this barber shop is the BEST place I've had the pleasure of getting my haircut (& being in the military for 20+ yrs, I've been all over).

Patty and the staff are extremely family friendly, and you feel as if your in her home based on the positive environment and welcoming attitude. If you are looking for a punk-rock attitude or the latest rap video playing on the tv; you might wanna go elsewhere. This is just one of the last good, clean, wholesome places that promotes a pro-family scenario. They make you feel like family, rather then just another haircut. Patty knew everyone's name that walked in while I was there. She immediately identified me as a new customer, and thanked me for giving them the chance to cut my hair. I was more than happy with the results and will be returning on a regular basis. I would suggest you give this barber shop a try if you; want your haircut with precision and by someone who cares, don't like feeling awkward at some other barber shops, value your money and last but not least, would rather be around nice friendly individuals. *KEY PIECE OF ADVICE* Call ahead and ask how many people are waiting, there are only two barber shops here, and being that they do an amazing job on each haircut, that takes time, and the waiting period can be extensive at some points.

Patty and the people that Patty allows to work at Caveman Barber shop are the best. This is an old fashioned Barber shop where you are going to get a good hair cut with a razor shave on your neck and a hot towel. The price, $15.00 plus tip. There are no appointments, so walk in and sit down. Enjoy the conversations that are going on. This what a Barbershop should be. By and By First Responders and active Millitary the price is, $10.00. At least that is what I have seen Patty charge those folks when she knows.

Patty the owner is awesome! They do straight razor shaves with hot lathers and towels. Be forewarned that they work on a first come basis and if you show up after 3 they may not be able to fit you in before closing. Call them to see what the line is like if you are running late.

I was there today for the first time. Got a faded comb over cut with a hard part. I am extremely pleased. Everyone there was super friendly and welcoming. The owner Patti is an Angel sent from heaven to cut hair and the price is unbeatable. Will be going back.

Nobody cares that you're impatient and your inability to wait should have no reflection on Caveman's expertise.

They are hands down the best barbers in town. The rates are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is great. Only drawback is the wait time. They fill first thing in the morning and wait can be anywhere's of an hour to two. But again, great cutters. Dog friendly.

Absolutely BEST Barber In this city. Party listens to what her customers want, and then does it that way. She always has 7 or 9 people in line, but it moves along quickly, and it seems all the guys who come in here know each other. They get some fun conversations going from time to time. Well worth the wait for the haircut you want.

This is a small barber shop that cares about your hair. The wait is long but the environment is friendly and they offer free beer while you wait. The two ladies that run the place are amazing and they finish up the cut with a straight razor shave to get rid of the neck hair and a hot towel. Love this place.

Caveman is a great barbershop. The barbers are pretty good and really nice. The draw back is they only have two chairs and it takes them 20-25 minutes a haircut. You should expect to wait anywhere from an hour to two hours.

Caveman Barber Shop is by far the most inviting and relaxing Barber Shop I’ve ever visited. You walk in and are immediately greeted. During my last visit Patty immediately caught me asking if I’d cheated on her with another barber shop. Lol, I had. While waiting one can easily have a beer and enjoy jovial and relaxed conversation. Kids are also welcome with a basket or two full of some simple toys to play with. Each time I’ve sat in the chair I’ve received an excellent cut. Now with the good there is always the bad. As others have posted I’d have to mention that Caveman is a popular place. You can get lucky and walk right in or spend a couple of hours waiting. If I have the time it’s well worth it. If not, I give a sad face and get a hair cut somewhere less desirable.

In my experience this place rates among the best. Why 4 stars? Frankly, I'm overdue on a haircut at the moment, but I just havent been able to set aside 2 hours in my currently very busy schedule to go back in to get a haircut. You see, I rate this the best place to get a haircut in Colorado Springs, and it would seem most of the male population of this city is aware of that fact. Doesn't matter what time you go in there, you WILL wait--typically between 20 minutes on the low end to an hour and a half on the high end. It's semi-comedy to be waiting there and counting the number of people that turn away with a scowl because they don't want to or can't wait. I'm sure the owner would love to expand the business, though I imagine there are many obstacles to that while simultaneously running the barber shop. Victims of their success aside, the barbers (barberesses?) are deft and they thankfully remember how you usually like your hair. They have always done a great job with my particular mop, and every barber I've had there has been able to coax me out of my own revelries without coming off as disingenuous or pretentious; they make it feel more like a bygone era where strangers spoke to one another for more than two minutes. Heartily recommend. :)
