It all depends on which barber you get. I took 2 of my boys for haircuts before the school starts. Both of them had high top box style prior and they wanted them shorter and faded. The barber who took my 14 year old did an execellent job. He was at the third station from the window. I would have given 5 stars based solely on his work. But the barber who did my 16 year old didn’t know how to do the style at all. He didn’t take his time either. He not only cut them shorter than he was asked but messed it up so bad no one could have fixed it if they tried. My son said he couldn’t go to school looking like that. So he ended up getting a plain short hair cut. I have to admit he looks a lot better with hightop style. His girlfriend loves it too. It will take a long time for him to let it grow out and have the style he wants again. On top of that, he was on the phone in the middle of the cutting for an extended period of time and had us wait until his conversation ended. It doesn’t look professional! I drove extra miles because of the good reviews I saw on Google. My kids live in a different state and they are leaving tomorrow. What a way to end the vacation.

I'm a Phoenix native & have always had a hard time keeping a barber for more than a year or so... In short, there's not many of "us" (aka- African-Americans) in this area, & many times the decent barbers move here from other states, then they end up re-locating once they realize that Phoenix is so different from what they might be used to... Or they stay here but business doesn't go as well as they hoped & they ultimately go into another field... When it comes to barbers, i'm the type of person who finds someone who does a good job & I will stay with that one person for as long as I possibly can (because I know they will always do a good job)... It's always nice to sit in someones chair when that person knows how you like your cut (without you always having to tell them), you're comfortable with that person & know that you're not going to be a "guinea pig"... So its hard when I have to find another barber, & I was recently forced to do this after I was recently stood up by the most recent barber I WAS going to (after I advised him 3 days in advance that I would be coming in)... With all that being said, the thing I LOVE about Natural Impressions is that I have been going here for years. I started off with one barber, then when he left the shop, I came back & gave someone else a shot... Then when that someone else left the shop, I came back to find another barber (who was my most recent)... After he left the shop (then stood me up as I was on my way to the other one he currently works at), I came back recently & found another barber who did an EXCELLENT job.... So basically, you can always come back to this place & find someone new if need-be... It is centrally-located, it is close to the light rail stop & it is rarely over-crowded like some can be (this last time, I went right in, got right in an open chair & was out of there an hour later)... In the Phoenix area, i've seen many shops shut down over the years &/or go downhill as far as the quality/amount/work ethic of barbers they keep on staff: This is the ONE shop I can count on to go & get a decent cut, & whenever I need to find a new barber (i.e. if I find one here who leaves or goes to another shop that is super far away), I can always come back to good old Natural Impressions on Washington St. & find the next one... ALWAYS... Trust me, I can't tell you about a bunch of fancy stuff (ie: designs, dye, etc), but if you want something basic like a low-cut caesar/taper/blow-out/etc, it will always come out looking right because the owner doesn't bring anybody in there if they can't cut. Some barbershop owners seem to think that everyone wants to drive all the way out to East Mesa, far West Phoenix, DEEP South Phoenix, the ghetto or Gilbert for a cut, only to arrive & have to wait 2-3 hours behind a huge crowd of ppl (&/or be stood up by their barber): Save yourself the stress/drama, go to Natural Impressions & know that they will always do a good job.

I was so happy to finally find a barbershop that knew how to cut my(black) hair! I’ve been in Phoenix for 7 months and have only had bad experiences from people who claimed they knew how to cut n style so I was excited to find this shop. I got a great cut and the atmosphere was just what I was hoping for. The owner was very skilled and even knew his way around a straight razor lineup. Very impressed overall. This is the only place that I’ll be going from now on.

This was my first time at a male barber shop in Phoenix and I left a bit disappointed only because I was specific of wanting my hair to be cut down leaving enough for me to redo my braids. Instead of acknowledging a mistake, he covered it up where I could not and did not see it until I got home, that he had begun the cuts of a side fade. Had he mentioned it, I would have simply have him bald my head completely because it would have looked better. That simple. Because he started the fade however, it looked like my edges are shedding when it was not. I took a picture literally one day before this cut and my edges were completely intact and full. I am very protective of my edges and sit 4-6 weeks between braiding (3 months this last time!). I was having major shedding in the mid section especially in the mid section of my hair but my edges were not an issue. I knew I'd have to cut most of it off, so I figured it would be cheaper at a barber shop in oppose to going to a salon. It was indeed cheaper and the place is rather nice including the barber. The place is well kept and havr lots of beautiful history in there as well as African American news. The people very respectful and they even have an ATM which spared me an extra trip since I take public transportation. Lota of barber carry on profane conversation but these gentlemen were rather different in a very honorable and respectable way and there were some ladies there as well. The barber did stop two or three times because he was called on his phone and accosted for a quick minyte by the beautiful lady who I think was his wife. So I think he made an honest mistake considering he was a bit busy and because he is likely used to cutting guys hair. The guy before me was hooked up to the T so I know he is good at his craft. He did offer me a $5 deal on a nexus sample package which I brought. I did not see the benefits of changing my product once I read the ingredienta in there because I think my hair shedding is due to something with my scalp itself so I will go to a dermatologist. As for my hair it is growing but the signs of the fade is still there so I can not wear the hair style I want to wear as yet but head bands have help with the mis hap. I am likely to hit the salon and pay there to avoid this issue again, but I would recommend to the barber that honesty is better than cover up. Honesty would make me return in a flash because I saved lots of money by going here.

This old guy there didn't even know what a taper was I asked him for a taper and he gave me a fade I suggest u do NOT go there and also when he was doing my hairline he Accendently cut half of my eyebrow off
