Love this place! Moved to Mesa in 2010 & started going to Mike’s shortly after. I moved to Scottsdale, then Gilbert and still only get my haircut at Mike’s. After Chris left, Sam has been my go to barber. That was 2 years ago! She always makes me look & feel better than what I arrived. It’s a traditional style barber shop with a straight razor touch up or shave, as well as a neck massage to allow you to attack the day. Great place, great people, great service. Today we went to Mike's barbershop to get our son's first haircut. He is only 13 months old, had a lot of hair that was bugging him and he was getting sweaty outside because of it. When we went it was busy and we waited around 20 minutes I think. We had Julie cut his hair and she was really great. She let me hold him since he was a little nervous. He luckily didn't even cry! He moved a lot and I think she really did her best. We love how it turned out! At the end she taped a lock of his hair to a certificate that stated when and where his first haircut was! It was really special for us! We will definitely be going back!

I feel it's rather rude. A second language is great if used at an appropriate time. This behavior is not appropriate. I'm going elsewhere.

Asked for a high fade. Got a mohawk instead. Got higher than a high and tight. A high fade is 2 finger widths from the ear, which is pretty standard across all barbershops. Ruined 2018 veterans day weekend. For all people that want a high fade, either specify you want two finger widths from the ear or just ask for a medium fade at this establishment to be safe.

I am a new customer to Mike's Barbershop (2 mos). I left there angry today. Javier trimmed my eyebrows without asking me and now they look terrible. He spoke Spanish with another barber the entire visit. I speak English and thought this was rude. One of my friends introduced me to this place. He just wouldnt stop raving about this barber that he had, and i could see the results. Having just moved to the area i needed a new barber anyways, so i thought that it wouldnt hurt to try it out. From the second i met Samantha we got along famously, she was super easy to talk to and relax around. My opinion of her only increased as she cut my hair, we went through the whole shampoo process and everything. In what seemed like 10 minutes flashed by and soon enough i had the haircut exactly as i imagined. She even took it a step further and helped me out with my horrendous cowlick and other tips. First time trying this place out and it was a great experience. The inside was very nice layed out, great flow, very clean, modern with a classy touch. The seats were my fave, never seen any so nice and very comfy, and the barbers are funny. I havent been to a barber shop this great in a long time. I like this place and everyone in the shop is friendly. Samantha is awesome and always gives a great straight razor shave. My only issue is that I have to wait too long (often times over an hour) in order to get a haircut or shave with Samantha. I will have to stop coming here unless they start allowing appointments. It seems like it wouldn’t be that difficult to have an online or call in scheduling system.

I began going to Mike's Barber shop 15 years ago after some pretty horrible great clips style chain haircuts. The difference from the chains and a real Barber Shop was truly an eye opening experience. I continued to go to Mike's for many years, and when my children were old enough for their first haircuts, we always went straight to Mike. I'll never forget how patient he was as my wife cried, and hovered, taking a million pictures as he very delicately and professionally gave a great cut. He even presented us with a certificate and a lock of hair to commemorate the event. I've had mine and my boy's hair cut many times here, and have never had a bad experience with any of the staff that work in the shop. I have always been very pleased with the professional haircuts. I've been in San Tan Valley for the past few years, and wasn't able to make it to Mike's for a long time, but today I went back for the first time in several years. Mike remembers his clients. He remembers their stories, their lives, and he genuinely cares. He instantly recognized me and welcomed me back with a handshake. Today my hair was cut by a gentleman who was working his first day in this shop, and I was his first client of the day. He did an outstanding job. I firmly believe each barber at this shop is thoroughly vetted and experienced. There are no rookies at Mike's. My final comment is that it's good to be back.

Let me say first and foremost that I am not your typical internet reviewer nor complainer. I felt the need to post a review because I actually used this forum to seek out a new barber due to my recent move to Mesa. Upon arriving I was greeted very professionally and sat down in the chair. The barber and I discussed what I would have like to have done during my visit, unfortunately there didn't seem to be a lot of options for a package deals for what I was looking for so we settled on a shave and a haircut. The service seem very minimal there wasn't any real offer of any additional services such as shampoo etc. I was just simply unimpressed not to mention the first time anyone has ever cut me while shaving (three times actually, see attached picture).The barber who provided these services was very nice indeed, however she needs to work on her shaving skills a lot and perhaps a little bit more on what services cost and additional charges (a.k.a. fees) will be charged before ringing up the customer. I guess I will continue looking for a new barber. My shave and a haircut cost $45 and I gave $10 as a tip (which looking back now that was way too much) they also to added a $0.75 fee without telling me to simply use a credit card (I assume), this makes them seem cheap and petty to me.

The barbershop is staffed with very friendly and personable people who can be trusted with a good haircut. While there are many good barbers available, the one I have to thank the most is Jason who not only does an awesome job with my hair, but is extremely knowledgable on treatment and products. I have been going to mikes for almost a year and a half now to see Sam because she continuisully gets my haircut and fade and lines perfect every time. I’ve been at many different barber shops before trying to find one that I got the haircut I wanted and never stuck with any until now. She always makes sure to not leave out any detail and spends the time to make sure it is exactly what you want and not errors are made. She has no problem going back through if she seems something she doesn’t like and re correcting it until it’s perfect. Sam is also a great person that you can talk to and keep conversations with and treats you like a friend not a customer. I will continue to go to mikes and get my haircut by Sam because I know it’s going to be what I want every time and I don’t have to try to explain it she knows exactly what I want when I sit down in her chair!

I asked for a trim with the sciccors and next think I know he pulls out the buzzer and cuts my hair off . And then I get home and I see it's very uneven in areas and now I have to chop off my curls so my hair grows correctly again. If you have curly hair , and looking for a trim. I wouldn't go here. Doesn't seem like they know how to cut curly hair

I’ve came in twice now I don’t know why I ever thought to give them a second chance . There is three decent barbers there the rest by straight garbage . That’s why the ticket system works for them so they can at least get a haircut and mess it up. Wow I have never left the barber and had to go to another one to fix my hair

Not sure what happened to this once great place. Walking in four barbers look up without a single smile, or hello. Then after sitting down for ten minutes in front of even the manager. Not a single barber informed me that we need to take a number when we walk in to hold our spot. Then having to listen to one of the barbers joke around about side girls and other totally inappropriate jokes, right next to a 7-10 yr old, disgraceful.. Definitely not the same place 1-2 years ago.

I asked for a little be taken off the top, no more than 1/4 off and nearly an inch was taken off. I asked for a blend on the sides and back to bottom at a 3 it's much shorter than that. I asked for my sideburns to start at my cheekbones not at the top of my ears. As a barber you should always start longer I don't understand how hard that is to understand. I gave 2 stars because the barber was at least nice.

Great place. Javier is excellent. You may have to wait for a while once you arrive but that's fine. You just have to plan for it. It's worth the wait. Great people.

My boyfriend has been coming here every 2 weeks like clockwork for the last 3 years. He only let's Javi cut his hair because always takes his time and makes sure my boyfriend looks 100%. Javi is super friendly and just absolutely amazing at his job! We will definitely be continuing to go here as long as Javi is here!

This is the place I started going after a bad great clips experience. They take their time and you leave with a good haircut. Wait times can be long and they are a bit more expensive

These guys are great. I always get a good haircut, they take their time and they know what they are doing. Much better than going to the butchers at some of the other cheap places, and they are really only a couple dollars more for the cut.

A handshake... Something most people take for granted these days but not at Mike's Barbershop every time I go to get my monthly hair cut by Jason, I am greeted by one and when I leave I am left with one. I have been coming to Mike's for a year and half now but a client of Jason's for a year and I've never been disappointed whether it's how my hair turns out or the knowledge when I'm trying to find the right stuff for my hair Jason is the man! With that being said when it comes to the rest of the barbers at the shop they are all just as friendly (I am sure they give great cuts too) . If you are looking for a good cut and a great atmosphere stop by Mike's you won't be disappointed. (and if the lines not too long ask for Jason)

I was a bit reluctant to go to a barber shop where you pick a number when you walk in, but I've never had a bad cut from any of the barbers. Since Javier has cut my hair though, I will wait for him whenever I can. I'm as critical as they come, go for a skin fade, and don't have easy hair to cut and my recommendation is always Javier. Quality and consistency.

After looking around online for quite a while i figured try out Mike's. I was greeted when i walked in and taken care of pretty quickly even on a busy sunday. Hair cut was awesome, exactly what i wanted. I also have a large beard that needed a cut. Its difficult to trust anyone to cut it but i gave Javier a shot and it looks great. He made it look full and healthy and I couldnt be happier. Will definitely be coming back. Big thanks to Javier for taking care of me!

As others have mentioned, this shop is great! In fact I drive from South East Gilbert for this shop. Sam is my go to, despite being a Dodgers fan, but because she is so good her wait times are sometimes over 2 hours. I can't dedicate 2 hours every other week waiting for a cut and for this reason i am looking for another shop closer to my house. If I was able to schedule an appointment online or via an app. it would make life so much easier. I use a free service called calendly for scheduling appointments with clients. It's free and may be worth looking into. Please provide your clients the ability to schedule an appointment and make this a 5 star rating.

Samantha is my barber, and I have to say that getting a haircut at this place isn’t just someone cutting your hair and then you leave. They actually talk with you and have a conversation. They treat you like a person and not just a customer. I find myself looking forward to getting my haircut. The reason I chose Samantha as my go to barber is because of how easy she is to talk too and because she knows exactly what I want even if it’s not the same as before. And she is an amazingly skilled barber!

I was bringing my husband and sons in here for almost a year. We had an amazing girl named Taylor. She was good to my boys and did a great haircut every time!! I Was very surprised to find out that they had fired Taylor and would not let us know where she was currently working at. I believe she may have been injured and they gave her the boot!!! Great people NOT! Luckily after making a few phone calls I found her at T and Joes Barbershop and will be going to see her this weekend.
