Their customer service makes Comcast and the DMV look great. No matter when you call, it takes 15+ minutes to speak with a rep ("currently experiencing higher than normal volume"). Then, nobody you speak with knows anything. They submit a review to someone else that is to be investigated and answered in 3-5 business days. No response for 2 weeks, called - same story. Moved my money and closed the account. What a joke.

I opened an account for my infant son and they screwed up just about everything they could. First, they told me it would take 1-2 days to open the account. It took almost 3 weeks. After all this money laundering news, they dragged me through some arcane vetting process (I already have 4 other accounts with them and have been with HSBC since they took over Marine Midland bank way back when). They also told me I would be able to administer the account via my online account, which turned out not to be true. So I have to physically go to the bank and deposit funds everytime. It was almost enough to make me take all my accounts and go somewhere else. I thought about it pretty hard. I will stay with them for now, but I'm keeping my eyes open to see if other banks seem better. It just seemed careless and the employees seemed totally unaware of the bank's policies and rules. No one ever contacted me to update me on what was going on and I wasted a lot of time following up with them via email & phone.

Terrible customer service and they lied to me about a $350 promotion for opening an account. They use false advertising, are never open on weekends and only have a couple branches in the DC area. Do yourself a favor and work with a real bank like BofA or Wells Fargo. HSBC USA is a disgusting joke!

Only one teller working when there is 6 people on line. Terrible customer service. This is a branch on E 16 and Kings Highway. Branch Manager was no where to be found.

This is the fastest HSBC branch in the city and it has a parking lot! No more illegal parking in that little "diplomat cut" on Connecticut Avenue!

Terrible experience. 28 min exactly to make a deposit, they have no idea what there doing and than passing me around to different teller. In the end they didn't even apologize they just thought its normal to take 28 mins to deposit cash in a persons account

I cannot begin to describe the horrible experience I encountered at HSBC bank in Union Square. A so-called banker Jenny Osiris...was rude and insensitive. She never greeted me and was stern in her approach to gather information. My Grandfather passed away so the the account had to be closed. Rather than treating me dignity and respect...She looked at the Death certificate suspiciously and demanded my ID be photocopied. Not once did she extend any condolences or try to find out the proper protocol for this type of issue. She kept telling me she didn't have the answers to any of my questions and repeatedly told me to go find out. I strongly urge any person who is considering this financial institution to reconsider. This is the culture of this institution not just one employee.
