Parked in front of this building without seeing the sign regarding parking. I stepped out of my car, readjusted my purse on my arm. I turn around, facing the doors of the building that this parking spot belongs to. Before I am even able to take a step, an older man says rudely to me “this isn’t parking for chic fil a, you need to park somewhere else”.
Now here’s what bother me about this man’s comment:
1. I had literally only stepped out of my vehicle, I wasn’t even looking at chic fil a, it was directly behind me.
2. This man just assumed I wasn’t parking here to go into his place of business. He didn’t even bother to ask where I was heading.
If I had been parked there to go into Merrill Lynch, I would have immediately left and found another place to do business with. I am assuming that I received that attitude and comment from him because I am young (24). He doesn’t know me, he shouldn’t have judged me based off of my age or appearance.
After this man made that rude comment I didn’t say anything back. I just got back in my car and left. As I was leaving the man continued to stare and me and then turns around and walks away shaking his head at me.
My question is, what if I was parking there to go to Merril Lynch? What if I had parked somewhere else, and then walked back up there and walked inside after him?
To this rude, ignorant man:
Learn to be nicer, you could have handled that situation better. I wonder how many people you have insulted by saying similar comments to, when they were really there to do business with your company.
