We offer you the opinions of people like you who have information of the products and services of Monona Bakery and Eatery (Bakery) in the area close to the state of Wisconsin.
As of day the business gets a rating of 4.6 out of 5 and the score has been based on 151 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is basically the highest, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the evaluation is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Bakery belongs to the category of Bakery.
I love this place so much. You get amazing yummy food with some friendly service. I wish i could come as often as i would like but when i come it's always very exciting! You will not be disappointed.
I checked out this place yesterday for a late brunch and was very pleased. I loved the cozy atmosphere and I could tell that a lot of pride goes into the establishment. I really enjoyed the breakfast tacos and the fried yuccas left me wanting more. I'm really not a cake guy but enjoyed the carrot cake as well. I will definitely be coming back one day.
Real food!
Great food, delicious popusas
Try the papusas!
The best hollandaise sauce ever. Very accommodating. Highly recommend this place. Scones are great as well.
This is our go-to place for cakes and some savory. The tres leches at this place tastes amazing - by far, the best we have tasted in Madison. The sponge is so very light that you literally feel it melting in your mouth. We are big fans of Tiramisu at this place, too.
Our kids cleaned their plates and so did we. I got the French today she the sauce was fantastic.
Great place to eat. Love it
Wow! Stopped on a whim one day and now can't stop going back! The baked goods are always amazing, but the food is my favorite part. Lot's of dishes I recognize but also many I don't, love trying it all. The flavor and taste is always superb and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Pretty great bakery and pretty great cafe food.
Exelente comida y muy buen servicio al cliente
Nice breakfast, very friendly people. I recommend it.
Excellent!!
Straight up fantastic. Best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Go there right now.
Monona needs more places like this!!! Wonderful staff and even better food. Will be coming back many times. The breakfast tacos are amazing!
Excelent service. So delicious food.
Great food! The Honduran menu is the star of this establishment, but the other breakfast, Mexican, and lunch menus do not disappoint either!
Excelente lugar para algun apperitivo, muy limpio y excelente servicio.
I hate to say this but I don't recommend! My boyfriend ordered a Tres Leches cake for my birthday there and it was not impressive to say the least! It was not spongey at all, and the cake tasted like slightly stale bread. It was NOTHING close to a Tres Leches cake. I was SO disappointed! Will not order a future cake from there.
Great food and pastries. Mostly American but some Honduran specialties.
Delicious Mexican and Honduran food, reasonably priced, breakfast, lunch, dinner and wonderful Bakery. Also Uber Eats.
Excellent Honduran fare and desserts. Breakfasts and sandwiches are top notch too. Must try the pupusas. Chilaquiles are perfect - served piping hot with a zesty salsa verde. Remarkable blend of crispy, soft, and creamy textures. Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Highly recommend a visit.
Friendly staff & delicious food with many vegetarian options. Baked goods are fantastic.
Excellent food, outstanding service and genuine Honduran cuisine. Highly recommend!
Wow, great little cafe! I’ve never had s single bad meal! Love their breakfasts - crepes are delicious. Bakery all wonderful. They bake all of their own breads used in toast or sandwiches. Love their enchiladas and Costa Rican (different than Mexican) tamales. Great salads....I can never decide when I go there. Reasonable prices great family-run place.
Fantastic, little know place to eat. Usually when a place says it's a bakery and an eatery it only means that they have very limited items other than baked goods. But there's tons of options for breakfast or lunch there. The owner, Vicente, is super nice as well and always running the kitchen. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
Like others, we were worried because the initial contact was a little shaky. The menu wasn't the best presentation, and the choices looked slim and not very easy to find. However, the food was fantastic! I had the pork tamales beans and rice. The wife had some special that I can't remember the name of, but was also enjoyable. Everything was fresh tasting and not over processed, salt, or fat loaded. Will be back!
So yummy! Besides the bakery staples they have a Mexican and Honduras menu. The lady at the counter was friendly. Their bathroom was one of the cleanest i've seen at a restaurant.
As a large family I understand orders can get mixed up however our order was mixed up not once but four times. If you are there to taste a bit of ethic food from Honduras you are mistaken, take your money some where else, not this place. At first we walk in and it has a good present feel tables to your left order to your right. There is no friendly hello or you must order here first and sit down. We took a seat and presented ourselves to the cash registers where we ordered. After waiting 22 minutes we was presented with two plates of three pupusas with cheese and beans and another order of two of the same. They did not have a good presence to them. The masa was way to thick, there was no flavor and the cheese was of the cheap mozzarella that left a bad after taste. We the. Got our order of yuca fries that had a lack of flavor not even salt which was accompanied with some type of humus mix of garlic and mayonnaise this is not a traditional plate. We waited still for 7 more pupusas for are other guest in which the waitress kept bring the wrong ones out not once but four times at one point we got so annoyed me left the plates there and walked out. To pay $3.25 per pupusa that is not traditional when it's typical to pay Around $2 for one that is ten times better. Maybe it's the fact they are the only establishment that is selling pupusas in Madison they figure they take advantage. If you really want to taste a true pupusa head to Milwaukee where the mix of culture and soul and love gets out into one. This business my friends is not good for anything but there bland breakfast and dry pastilitos save your money and go to the real deal!
es de lo maximo en sabor y servicio
Fantastic breakfast!
A lot of places won’t do egg white substitutions or pay attention when I say NO MEAT or SAUCE ON SIDE, but they did exactly what I needed! Very happy with my meal, maybe more seasonings on the potatoes but that’s it! Very good lemon hollandaise sauce and good price for what you get.
It's a great place to grab a donut and some coffee (self-serve)!
Had lunch with my fiancée here, and it was so good. Service was friendly, quick, and had menu suggestions for us when we asked. The food was to die for. I had the TBA sandwich and my fiancée had the salmon omlette; both were super tasty. I would highly recommend this spot for lunch, we'll be back to try the brunch, which looked even better.
Good breakfast and friendly service
Delicious pastries, yummy and budget- friendly food, fresh fruits and veggies and the BEST COFFEE in the city!! Sooo good!!!
Inviting eatery with amazing food. We tried the lunch special, hot ciabatta sandwich, it was delicious.
Every time I've been there it has been delicious! It is like eating at home! So much flavor! Food prepared with care and love! Try the tamales, enchiladas, best tres leches cake ever, everything is great!
Tried the Honduran breakfeast, very authentic and delicious! Also ate a piece of flan with a coffee which was also great!
Food was great...took a bit long but it was worth the wait
Wow. The food here is truly amazing. I came in with my family and most of us ordered the chilequiles. They were so good. We also got some of the baked goods to go, which were equally as amazing. Based on our experience, I don't think you could get anything bad. Plus, the family that runs the restaurant is incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely come in here if you're on Monona drive.
Great pastries and good prices. A hidden gem.
Make time to swing by this gem of an eatery! The menu is on point, and the food is amazing! Great customer service to compliment it all!
Un buen lugar para comer buenos platillos y buen servicio
Inexpensive and great Sunday brunch! Best of all, not crowded.
This place is so awesome. It is a hidden gem. Wonderful breakfast.
Nice people. Great menu. Delicious food.

Tremendous food and great prices
Great food! Good service! Friendly environment!
GREAT food!! Very friendly workers. Clean. Easy to visit while eating. I highly recommend it!
Amazing Honduran food. I drive to madison from milwaukee just to hit this place.
Excellent food and service.
Not very great vibes. Great prices. I haven't had the chance to order food yet. Kind, friendly service.
Great food, quick service
Great food
Good Mexican Bread & Sandwiches.
Best birthday cake!/ Best father's day cake! I've ever had. My wife found this place and they put together this beautiful cake. I will definitely recommend! (I ate before I took the pic). Couldn't resist! Go Cubs!
Good small place. Nice people. It would be nice to have some gluten free bakery options.
Crazy fresh bakery. It just melts in our mouth. Best bakery in Madison
Tried this out after seeing all of the positive reviews and wasn’t disappointed. The regular menu looked good but the Honduran menu was particularly interesting and we all ended up ordering items from there. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. The bakery items in the case were also enticing and we enjoyed a thousand layer cake for dessert. Would recommend checking it out for a diner experience with a Honduran twist!
Happy place in Monona! Always been greeted with smiles as sweet as the sugar they bake with. BIG Recommend, read on: I've had bakery items and breakfast tacos all of which have been very good. This morning the croissants were still sitting in back, warm from the oven, so I got two instead of the one I needed. Três bon! Muy bien! Tasty in any language! I've stopped in to buy flour tortillas for home use and they are delicious. I wish they would offer a price on 6 and/or 12 of those as a to-go..I'd never buy grocery store tortillas again! Great value. Stop by late Monday afternoons and get 2-4-1 on bakery items.
Tries the reamblas? (Spelling). Was surprised to aee Mexican and hondiran options. Would come again to try more.
As always, Monona bakery has outstanding food! It's our go to for brunch!
Excellent food with just-right portion sizes. Very reasonable prices. I'll definitely be back - gotta try everything!
So good
Grabbed a quick donut and it was nice and fresh and pretty good.
Ok place
bought a loaf of sourdough bread--excellent, the best I've had in a long time!
The best chicken burrito ever!! The family that owns this establishment is wonderful!
A hidden gem of delicious Honduran cuisine and amazing selection of bakery. The service is friendly and genuine.
Just ordered from grub hub - it was great until I took a bite of their fish taco and lost all the rest of my lunch. It was awful. I called the company and the manager did nothing. He gave me an excuse saying the fillets are frozen until they cook it. I am seriously questioning the sanitary conditions of this place. It tasted rotten. Great place to throw up while eating and then they didn’t even care. No Bueno.
Their Honduran Tamales are AMAZING! Their baked good selection is awesome too!
Food full of flavor and love
Delicious, good service. Shrimp taco was amazing. Cleanliness of restaurant and bathrooms could be improved.
Good food, prices are moderate.
We were looking for dessert and popped in spur of the moment. We were highly impressed and satisfied. This bakery offers a huge variety of food. And it's beautifully done! It is one of the best places I've ever been around Madison. It's a little higher in price but that's because they use quality ingredients. You can tell with your first bite. Wonderful bakery!
The owners were very hospitable and we tried the pupusa which is a delicious dish similar to stuffed tortillas with meat or cheese. The sandwiches are great. I liked the fresh soup. Generous portions. They offered us a sample of a delicious cake. I'll go back again!
Excellent berry crepes. So good, Did not even use the yummy sauce they served with it.
Along with a menu of those American fare, they have a separate menu of Central American and Mexican specialties. The pastries were great, and there Honduran tamale was very good. We'll go back to try some of the other specialties.
OMG if you have never had Honduran Food, you must eat here! If you have had Honduran food you MUST eat here! I have had the pleasure of eating the most amazing, fresh food, with flavors of Coconut milk in the rice and beans. The very best Flan ever! Do not forget the plantains!
For my first time walking in the door, I was greeted with... Well... Pretty much nothing. There is no CLEAR sign about seating or ordering but I saw the stack of menus on the counter so I figured I was supposed to grab a menu and order at the counter. I grabbed one and was told there were two different menus: Regular and Latino. You can order off either menu all day long. There are also specials, but they are just printed out on paper and laying on the counter by the register. I didn't see them until after. I made my decision, and because I couldn't choose between the Berry and Lemon Curd crepes, I got both. I also was excited to see pupusas on the menu as I haven't had one since I lived in Georgia. The food was delivered to my table. The server was nice, but awkward. The crepes are freaking amazing. As I was eating them I was trying to figure out when I could come again. I couldn't decide which one I liked better. So good. The pupusas was... Underwhelming. There are lots of things on the menu I'm excited to try!

Great food. Excellent service. Kid menu was good. Chicken pear salad was delicious
Good comfort food, a quiet place and friendly service. Reasonably priced.
Stopped in for brunch with the family. Maybe a couple wrinkles to iron out service-wise, but they just opened. The kids gobbled up their food! Salmon omelette and breakfast tacos were awesome! Will be back for sure!
Mushroom soup was wonderful!
Good Latin dishes!
I love this place. Their bakery items are wonderful. All them about the papoussa ... but forgive my spelling.
I really like this place. They are super friendly and offer great off-menu Honduran specials. Definitely a Monona favorite!
