Best sandwiches anywhere.... definitely travel and go out of your way to get these!
Great food, excellent desserts
Delicious.
The tomato gravy is excellent!
Love their salt rising bread
Amazing food and an ever-changing variety of sweets. The salt rising bread is so reminiscent of days gone by. Great views from indoors and lovely back deck overlooking Dunkard Creek.
The ONLY place to get Salt Rising Bread! I stop every time I pass this exit between Pittsburgh and Morgantown.
We sell their salt rising bread at Middletown Mall Shop n Save.I was really supprised at how well it sells. If you remember salt rising bread you have to try this.We have customers call now to make sure we have it in stock.
Great bread and soup...fair prices for a small town setting
Loved the Italian sandwich I got from here recommended
First class.
Great food
Great service and product
Wonderful!!
Awesome experience The food is better then average, but not award winning. The BLT is the best thing I have had. The desserts are amazing. It's worth it just to have a pastry and sit on the back deck.
I have liked and recommend this place for the beautiful location and good food & coffee for a long time, but recently I had a very poor experience with the owner. 2 weeks ago, I asked Rising Creek if they would be able to donate bread for a local fundraising event I am facilitating. I talked with the women on the register and she directed me to another women who approved my request and agreed to donate 6 loaves of bread to our event. I left a flyer with my phone number with this woman and was asked to call a few days before the event, which is this Sunday, October 25th, the confirm a pick up time. I thanked them for their generosity, purchased a coffee, did some work in their establishment and left thanking them again. This morning at 7:30am, on the Friday before the event, I called to confirm. The man that answered referred to the flyer, took down my number again and said he would have the owner call me when she came in around 8:30am. I did not get a return call, so I called again at 10am. The owner answered the phone and I re-explained the event and asked when I could pick up the bread. To which, she told me she will not be donating the bread to our event. I told her of the prior conversation and approval and she referred to the flyer I had left there, reading back to me the event details over the phone. I have been coordinating donations for this event for the past 2 weeks, and specifically have not requested bread from other individuals because I was under the impression that the amount needed was fulfilled by Rising Creek and one additional establishment. I explained the bind I was in, but she was not very apologetic or willing to do anything to clear up the mistake on their end. She told me they are a small bakery and they just gave away 10 loaves yesterday, so they cannot give more away. I understand they are a small bakery and I would have not been upset if I was told the day that I requested bread that they were not able to. But I think it is very unprofessional that Rising Creek told me they could donate then changed their mind and donated the bread that was promised to us to another person. Their was no communication of this decision and no willingness on their end to fix it. For this reason, as much as I have enjoyed this bakery in the past, I will not be returning as a personal customer unless there is a move on their end to fix this issue.
We really enjoyed
Great little place. Food is fresh and delicious, particularly the baked items of course. There's not much seating, but we took the kids down near the creek and ate at a picnic table. Very cool establishment.
Horrible experience!!!! We've eaten here a few times and it has been decent. Really good food, but you had to wait a long time. We were regulars too. This time was horrible. Took forever to even order, then we waited over an hour, and still hadn't received our food!! Turns out they said they lost our slip!! Didn't even apologize for it!! No offer of cooking it right then!! Nothing!!! Then I asked for a refund so we could just leave the place, and she made sure to deduct off the drink & pastry that we had while we waited an hour & a half!! Management is incompetent, and the attitudes of everyone were incredibly indifferent!! I will not ever go back.
Very good food
The food is excellent!
Excellent food. Ample portions. Worth finding it.
Excellent!
OMG!! The pies are incredible, fresh fruit, perfect flakey crust!!!
Good food, prices seemed a bit high.
Great food!
We had the Italian and Roast Beef sandwiches. DELICIOUS!! Hillary and her team know how to cook! Enjoy!!!
You can smell the bakery from the street, and the salt-rising (no yeast) bread was delicious, even toasted days later. They also sell a starter so you can bake your own. Despite being a bit out of the way, the place was drawing in a substantial clientele. Worth the trip!
We always make a stop at Rising Creek when we are in the area to pick up some of their famous salt rising bread and other goodies! Great service, local items which are well prepared. If you are looking for something rather than a chain this is a great place!
The best in town
I love this tiny place. They have great food. If I'm in the area I try to make it a point to stop.
Absolutely delicious place. Has some of the best salt risen bread I've had. Incredibly nice staff that was willing to talk while they were baking. Sadly it was raining but the outside area seemed very nice and would be great on a nice day.
Excellent food!
Tasty pastries and relaxing setting by the river
Adorable hidden gem
Best bakery around Morgantown.
Unique local bakery, marvelous bakery products and food options in a small restaurant atmosphere. Go.
I cant say enough good things about this place. D. LICIOUS.
Best place to eat in Greene county.
Absolutely adore this place.
food was soo good and the sweets are the bomb!
Delicious sandwiches, soups salad . And Salt rising bread. Dessert. Outdoor seating by a beautiful creek when the weather is mild.
Nice little place
Excellent FOOD
Good quiche, nice atmosphere and view of creek
Fantastic little hidden gem
Great food and great people
This bakery has it all. Customer service is great, the baked items are wonderful and if you want to have a divine experience in sandwiches , stay for lunch! Take the extra few minutes to go! You will not regret it.
Had the best lunch and pastries! The salad was a Mediterranean chick pea salad, with feta and a delicious vinaigrette. The soup was stocked with watermelon, fresh cukes, and lime. Sweet and savory! Their pastries are scrumptious and their buttercream irresistible! I couldn’t resist their Dulce de Leche cupcake. Hard to beat quality food like this!
This is not only a great place for baked goods and desserts, they also serve the best sandwiches around. The food is always fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend eating here.
Such a wonderful and friendly place with a great atmosphere ♡ would highly recommend it and will most definitely be a returning customer ♡
great food great price great place to hangout and enjoy the view of the famous Dunkard Creek
Very pricey. Good fresh loaves of bread.
Delicious the salt rising bread is delicious as is their breakfast. Will have to come back for lunch sometime.
Quiet and quaint dining experience. They have unique menu items and I thought the food was pretty good.
Great place to eat with outstanding food and baked items!
This was the best salt-rising bread since Grandma's...notice I said "was". Something about the recipe has changed and the size of the loaf has decreased. It really isn't what I would expect for the price of $6. 89 a loaf! Like everything else....less for your money!
Salt Rising Bread! The best!
They don't have many vegan options at all. Or gluten free. But it's a great local place that overlooks the river. Beautiful and if you eat meat this place is absolutely fine
First time there... quaint place... food was ok; desserts well OVER PRICED!! Clerk was nice but all unknowing - perhaps a newbie.
Great chicken salad on crescent rolls. Coffee was just right.
Accidentally hit four stars—five fully warranted!
For years this has been one of my favorite places but seems to be in a decline. They no longer serve special coffee drinks or even stock sweeteners for guests who can't use sugar. Last week our omelets were both burnt On The Inside! The bakery case was so grubby that it was hard to see what was available. They gave us a pager and we were expected to deliver and bus our own food (Panera style) but they still have a tip jar. I'm sad.
I really want to love this place. I really do. But I don't. Unfortunately I've been disappointed by the food there on several occasions. I've been there about half a dozen times. I hate to be so critical because it's obvious the people that work there work hard. It's in a cute little town. In a cute little building right on the creek. There are a couple of items from the bakery that are really exceptional ... when they're fresh. The Almond crescents for example. But even they are overpriced at $2 a piece they're almost worth it. The Salted Caramel bars are worth the trip. But one time I bought a carrot cake scone there and it was pretty obvious someone mistook the salt for sugar. It wasn't palatable at all. I had to throw it away. Today I bought a cranberry turkey sandwich that was just a confusing mess, with sauteed peppers grilled onions two different sauces that I couldn't recognize. It's a nice idea but there was just too much going on there for me to even finish it. Even the pickle was limp and the chips were stale. And the pecan tarts were undercooked . I really want this place to be great. Unfortunately it's a disappointment
Really cool location next to the creek and the food was so good! Great service and loved the baked goods!
Isn't the same as it used to be. Went in the other day, didn't even order. Display of pastries that used to be full every day was basically empty. Didn't even see much Salt Rising Bread.
The food and atmosphere are fantastic, and be sure to try the tomato gravy, it's epic!
Great Food
Wonderful place to sit with friends, drink coffee and enjoy.
The best breakfast in the area, and possibly the best coffee I've ever had!
Great sandwiches and salads.
First time here. I'll definitely be back. #AllAroundMorgantown
Good food but slow service if it's busy
GREAT homemade salt rising bread and tomato gravy, excellent pastries and coffee, not to mention super breakfasts, panini sandwiches and homemade soups! We stop there whenever we travel that direction, even going out of our way if necessary.
Great food and customer service
Awesome food. Good pizzas, unique bread and cookies.
Nice place to relax and enjoy the pastries.
Great local place to eat! Fresh ingredients, and beautifully prepared breakfast and lunch!
Best salt rising bread anywhere
such great baked goods, and then you try their soups, salads and sandwiches! Yummmmmm, says it all! Also, very pretty location.
Excellent service and wonderful food! A must stop location on your way from WV to PA!
Great atmosphere & food......especially nice breakfast spot. Sometimes a little tight on seating, but it is because they offer great food.
We visited this bakery while driving through WV. I would have given a higher rate but unfortunately could not. The location is great. Right next to the water. The cream horn pastries were absolutely heavenly. My iced coffee was delicious. Sadly though, the prices were too high. The breakfast sandwiches we purchased were not good & last but not least the staff was very rude & unwelcoming. Even after my boyfriend tipped them.
Very pleasant atmosphere located overlooking a river food was good.
Best donut I have ever had. Homemade right in the shop. My wife and I shared the veggie omelette. It was perfectly cooked with onion, mushrooms and heirloom tomatoes. We also shared the spinach and tomato quiche. It was wonderful. Definitely will return.
Fantastic food and great service at reasonable prices. The cheesecake is to die for.
Such a cute place. Can't wait to go back in the summer and sit outside. Great coffee and sandwiches.
The food is unbelievable. Perfect. But nearly impossible to find... hidden along river.
Absolutely Delish!
Great food, great pastries limited seating and service is unbearable slow if they are remotely busy.
Great bread, great breakfast sandwich, consider stopping if in the area but not to drive extensive distance, not enough choices in the bakery to make it worthwhile
Last Sunday I had breakfast at the Rising Creek Bakery and Cafe. The breakfast sandwich was super delicious and the ambiente is very nice, too. I sat outside on the deck overlooking the creek - a lovely spot. Later in the day I came back for a quiche and house salad, and cheese cake for dessert. All the food was really great. Highly recommended!
Nice atmosphere and great peanut butter cookies
Every item on the menu is worth trying. The food and service is always great. Certainly worth the few minutes it takes to get off the highway and partake of truly food that is prepared with care and ingredients chosen for quality. If you have never tried salt rising bread, do yourself a favor and order a breakfast sandwich.
GREAT sandwiches. This was our first time going to Rising Creek Bakery, but we will definitely go back.
Good quick unique bite with excellent pastries but inconsistency is an issue. 5 stars if that improves
We enjoyed our Rueben and berry pie. The meat was cut from a larger piece, not thin slices of processed meat. The river was up high, a nice view.
When we first discovered Rising Creek some years ago, it was a revelation. I would put that Rising Creek up against any bakery that I have been to anywhere in the world. Every dish was amazing, every baked good second to none; I would have been hard pressed to find fault anywhere. Visiting Rising Creek became a weekly occurrence. If we had visitors from out of town, you better believe they were making a trip to Mt. Morris with us. In fact, we loved Rising Creek so much that we had our wedding there. Today's Rising Creek is not that Rising Creek. With the recent change in ownership, prices are up, selection, quality, and quantity are down. It has become, unfortunately, a pale reflection of what it once was. A recent "special" that we ordered was shockingly bad, to the point I would be embarrassed to serve it to myself in my own kitchen, let alone charge someone for it. We still visit, albeit rarely, to see if things have improved, but, currently, Rising Creek is Rising Creek in name only. I do hope that things turn around and that the current owners are able to recapture some of what made Rising Creek so very special to us. As it stands, I can no longer recommend it.
Had to wait for change but love the food!
Wonderful setting, great food, helpful staff and right off the interstate. These folks right here know what they're doing!
Had breakfast on a Sunday. Food was good. Small area upstairs but they have a dining room downstairs. Was our first visit....limited items on menu.
I love this Bakery pastries are delicious they have sandwiches and soups that are great it's in downtown Mount Morris it's worth your effort and time to check it out
Good food and coffee
Love this place, I've tried most of the items in their menu, it's all great. A great view on the river as well.
The only place I have found salt rising bread since moving to Pennsylvania! The bread are excellent, as are their breakfast sandwiches. It's a hike to get there but worth the drive. Buy more bread than you think you want, it will disappear fast!
Just happened to read about this wonderful bakery as we were racing up I-79. Tucked away in this old town we were surprised by the location and modern look. Wonder service, food is so good and huge. Not expensive and the pastries and fresh breads are to die for. A must for the hungry traveler.
Not the friendliest of staffs. Occasionally you will stand at the counter and wont be acknowledged immediately. Personally I think as soon as you're seen the clerk should acknowledge you or say "just a moment". You are there to spend, its not the cheapest.
Always fresh and original. Great breakfast and lunch. Fantastic pastries!
A bit pricey but well worth it! My favorite place to take friends for breakfast. Get the granola with fruit and milk!
Delicious!!
This small hidden gem is a beauty! INCREDIBLE food made in this tiny cafe.
Best breakfast ever
Has a lovely seating area down by the creek, after ordering bring your drinks down... You will have to come 'up the hill' when the server brings the food. Meats were great, sandwiches were excellent, good meat/bread/accompanients ratios. Try the "Salt Bread" (it's not salty, it's risen with a salt tolerant strain). Parking can be tough
Great spot! Unique bread.
Best Salt Rising Bread I have had in many years. Dense, cheesy and so good. This is the real thing! All you Van deCamp lovers out West, should be keeping this bakery very busy. Really appreciate the quick shipping. Also ordered the Pecan Square, what a treat.
Limited indoor seating; nice outdoor setup. Quaint & beside a creek. A bit pricey. Go when weather is nice to eat out on deck.
Everything I have tried here is tasty and the tomato gravy is some of the best gravy I have ever had in my life. Would return even though I live an hour away.
Always friendly, great sweets and food
Great little place with fantastic food and coffee. Never been disappointed.
So yummy & delicious! Welcoming small town feel with a 5 star deliciousness
Amazing food! Delectable pastries! The blue berries in my salad were the biggest I've ever seen!
They specialize in salt rising bread. It does not taste like any other bread so dont expect it to. I love their sandwiches made with it but my family doesnt like the bread. No problem bc their deserts are out of this world and their coffees n ice tea are fantastic as well. Cute little place with an outside overlook above Dunkard Creek.
New owner, doing a wonderful job!!
All homemade food and lots of desert options.
Best salt rising bread
Loves it when jenny owned it. Just not the same.
So, so annoyed with this establishment. Both google and the website states that it opens at 7. We’re driving home to Cleveland (I’m originally from Morgantown) so we got here at 740 thinking it would be open. It wasn’t so we decided to wait 20 minutes. The doors opened at 8 but we were then informed the cook wasn’t here and ‘usually’ gets here about 10 after. So now it’s 8:13, I have a cranky and very hungry one year old, my husband and I are hungry, and we still have a three hour drive ahead of us. I have frequented this place for years but will never come back. SO disappointed in this business.
Everything you want in a bakery. A must if your hungry around the PA WV border.
I really love the lunch sandwiches here. I've not had a negative experience here.
