I would stick to the baked goods only. The restaurant is looking pretty dingy. You can't help but notice the dirty vents above your head and wonder what is happening in the kitchen while you wait for your food.

Fantastic atmosphere, great service and very tasty food! Seasoning is glaringly missing in Smithfield as a whole, BUT not here! Food was seasoned to perfection. Had breakfast here as part of our stay at the Smithfield Inn and maybe one of our favorite parts of our stay. Sunday was a true treat with their Smithfield Hash and OMG Smithfield Benedict Sliders with crab. Put away the salt and pepper. They do it right. The cook at the Inn could learn a thing or two from this cook. By far, one of our best meals in All of Smithfield!

I've never posted a review before, and am not usually one who outwardly complains. That said, this place is extremely overrated. I was there for the first time this past week and while the street it is on is adorable, this restaurant (which I tried based on other reviews) was a complete let down! The bread my sandwich was on was good, but that was about all. My sandwich was slopped together and drowning in sauce. The cakes looked good, but had a chemical-like after taste (similar to the after taste from a Walmart bought cake). There really was nothing "gourmet" about this cafe.

We had an amazing lunch here, our server Jeremy was beyond awesome! We had their Brunswick Stew and sandwiches, I understand they had a rush before we got here, but having sat here thru a meal and dessert, I must say, we had an amazing time and great service! Before we left, our server even brought us a to go cup of our beverages!

Went for breakfast and was not disappointed. Customer service was fine (she was busy and it looked like she was by herself). Tried the french toast, with bacon on the side and got alot for the price. So yummy! Picked some goodies out to take home for my people, they all said they were tasty.

Great food great service great location. One of my favorite restaurants in Smithfield. Always busy and they open at 8 o'clock on Sunday so you can get your fix on sweets. Also great breakfast with eggs and lunches with sandwiches and soups. They always have Brunswick stew which is delicious.

Very good service! Even at an odd time and right before closing. The food was cooked very promptly and tasted great: we had the daily special of tilapia pasta and olives and a bowl of super delicious Brunswick stew paired with tomato basil bread. Photo attached of stew and bread.

My husband and I ate here today. It was so awful I actually created a google account just so I could warn the world. I've lived and traveled all over Europe. I have eaten some nasty food, but never in the U.S. have I eaten food that was literally so bad I couldn't eat it. I ordered a sandwich and the ham was ALL fat. There was no meat to be seen. My husband had "chips" that were completely burned. When we complained, they did nothing. AWFUL experience. Save yourself the trouble and go to one of the many wonderful restaurants of Smithfield, like the place across the street or the Smithfield Inn. Those are wonderful.

We had such a great time filming outside this Bakery. I took some good pastries home with me. I mean very good. Especially this custard chocolate donut. The service was friendly. Everyone was very nice. And it was so pleasant sitting inside and visiting with other folks.Ben Franklin even helped us with snacks out front. I'll be stopping back by on my day off.

Excellent place to eat. If you are ever in this part of the country, do stop in and see these people! We had lunch there; the chicken salad was good, the strawberry cake that was four layers was better! It was big enough to split with the hubby so be careful if you order two slices unless you want to take one with ya!

The food was decent, but the service was cool and indifferent. It wasn't just our server, but the 2 or 3 people with whom we interacted. The busgirl (?) was great. The tables had the bleach of smell, but I don't really count that as a negative, especially in the cold & flu season.

Brought relatives from out of state today they were busy at 2 o'clock we did not get our food until 245 our waitress dropped off our drinks after taking our order never came back had to flag down other waitresses for refills on drinks and condiments. There was a woman working there who was running around fussing about not wanting to be working on the floor and griping about when she was going to get off work in front of all of the customers and being very rude and disrespectful. The crab cakes were cold in the middle barely held together and the fries were cold and limp. The only good thing about this experience was leaving. This will no longer be our go to when bringing family and friends into our town.

I have eaten at the SGBandC regularly since I moved to Smithfield 10 years ago. The food is GREAT and the owner, Carolyn, is always friendly and helpful. Recently I had my wife's 50th birthday party there and it was so well done people are still talking about it.

Ordered a chicken salad sandwich which was very good. Onion rings were like getting a mouthful of grease. Couldnt eat them. Hubby had a slice of apple pie which was not that great. Canned pie filling and not homemade crust. Disappointing.

This place is a great place to stop for lunch. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the Windsor Castle which is basically a turkey sandwich with cheddar, caramelized onion and honey mustard. Both were huge and very good. The bread was almost and inch thick! The kids had the pancake and bacon kids meal which they loved. I would give 5 stars but only chips for a side is kind of a downer when you are paying $9+ for a sandwich.

Best food ever! All there food is homemade at the resturaunt. I got there Reuben and the bread, salad dressing and Smithfield corn beef all made there. Absolutely delicious. The prices where great and the staff where very friendly and fast. Loved loved this place. Definerly stop here and try the Smithfield ham and see some of the history behind it.

I've been here a handful of times and have only had a bad experience once. The restaurant had an average amount of traffic, but there appeared to be only one waitress for the entire facility. The wait for our food was incredibly long, and it was cold when it got to us. I fault the management for understaffing the restaurant to the point where even when the wait staff are doing their best (and going above and beyond helping every table), people are not being served in a timely manner. It's worth noting that apart from this single experience, I've consistently had fantastic service and delicious, high quality food. The toast selection is incredible and the meats are clearly local to Smithfield.

We stopped in here for a quick lunch before a wedding. The Sunday special was excellent and well prepared. The coffee was their own blend and was very good. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. The only disappointment.. we could not try the pastries and cakes before the wedding. We did take bakery treats home for our teenagers. They approved.

The bakery clearly takes pride in their food. I've eaten there several times and have always enjoyed it (the only exception was the blackened chicken wasn't as good as the other dishes I've had). On Friday nights, they put on an awesome dinner where you go above the bakery, formerly an apartment, and enjoy the greatest meal in the Smithfield area. Highly recommend the evening excursion, but even during the day its great

Oh boy, I love this place. I love everything about it but I especially love the hot chocolate (served in a cute little glass with whipped cream) and that amazing Chicken Salad Sandwich (served on house-made rye for me that's about 2 inches thick) with house-made warm fries. YUMMMM. I dream about this folks, seriously. I've had a few different things inside and they are all good and fresh and homemade. They bake breads you can eat inside as well as purchase to take home, they make fresh pies and cakes and cookies and cupcakes and yummies which I normally try to abstain from but every now and then you have to treat yourself, and they are delicious. The staff are welcoming and friendly and treat you like you are family. I like to sit outside on warm sunny days and people-watch in their little bistro tables out front. Pet friendly and people friendly - this is a great place.
