I've been to this bakery many many years ago, but when I visited it recently....I was very disappointed. The cases that house the "fresh baked goods" but are really not were filthy. The gloves to get them out of the cases are not located by them and can be easily over looked by papers and other boxes around it. The dessert that I had was kind of dry and I do not plan on going back. However, I heard that they had good cakes, but after seeing he inside of the store myself...I won't be ordering one.

Have been coming here for years, and try to visit every couple months when we are nearby. Everything tastes amazing, and is super fresh, but it's the service that is the most incredible of all. Everyone is so warm and friendly and welcoming, every member of the staff is genuinely glad you are there and go out of their way to make you feel it. The variety is insane, so very many choices, and as I said before everything is so good, it is hard to decide. The prices are great. Many times I have easily put together a gorgeous tea/brunch of a huge selection of pan dulce for less than a grocery store coffee cake. The birthday cakes are stunning, but have to be eaten fast, because they are so fresh&moist and loaded down with fresh fruit fillings, that they won't keep any longer than 48hrs once cut,so even though you'll want to-definitely don't order a bigger size than your event calls for just to have leftovers. Again, the owners/staff are the best around. Every time I go in,even if it has been a while, the owner remembers and asks about my family. They always give my daughter a cookie, and give me either a cookie or a small piece of soft candy to take to my profoundly disabled brother, who they remember just from me bringing him in one day (years ago!) when I was taking him to his special adult day Center. They remember that I have special ordered their meringues for my mother before, and if they were about to make some on a day I come in, have often offered to make some giant ones specifically in the color she likes best for me to come back and get the next day once they are ready. That kind of attention to detail hasn't been around here locally since William's or Dot's or the original Ukrops bakery were still open. Can't recommend them enough.

I wish I could give zero stars, terrible customer service and they use too much baking powder to inflate their bread (which hardens real quick). Also, they don't care about the customer. They're just money hungry and greedy people. I am not the only business that has partnered with them and received bad customer service, many more businesses in the Richmond area have also complained. Ojala pudiera darles 0 estrellas. Este lugar tiene el peor servicio al cliente. Son muy bruscos/groseros y lo dejan muy claro. Despues de trabajar con ellos por años ya nos cansamos del trato de ellos. No nos dejaban suficiente pan y nos culpaban porque su pan se enduraba muy rapido (problema de la panaderia, no nuestro). This is a real bakery, filled with an impressive variety of tasty pastry, cakes, muffins, breads, and anything else a bakery should have. They keep a nice selection of pinatas and a small grocery store. The real star here is the cake though, they prepare these incredibly delicious decorated event cakes faster and cheaper than any big box store at a much lower price. This isn't some boring Walmart cake either, this is the moistest, most delicious cake you will ever have, the icing is light and creamy and everything is fresh made. They top it all off with friendly customer service.

So, I ordered my son’s cake 2 days go and I pick it up not too long ago. The lady/owner greets me so I gave her the receipt for the cake, I was told that I could pick it up after 1:00 so I told the lady that took my order I would be there by 2:00 but had so much going on that I couldn’t make it at that time, I was there at 4:30 and after 10 mins of waiting for my cake one of the girls calls out the store manager to the back so then the store manager asks me if I could wait another 20 mins, I asked why? She didn’t really give me an answer mind you I have 3 kids in the car, birthday boy not feeling good at all and so I go back to my car, waited there for 20 mins go back only to be told to wait another couple of mins, at this point I’m beyond upset, I finally get my cake after almost 40 mins with no apologies from owner or anyone in that bakery, I am not coming back due to their rudeness, mostly from the owner.

I love this place. I usually buy my 3 leches cakes from this bakery. They have the best "orejas" I have ever tried as well. Owners are usually very nice. The front parking lot is a bit hard to get out of. If you go, park on the side it will be easier to get out when you leave.

Want to give a shout out to special friends that really stepped up and pulled off a miracle for me with very short notice. On Saturday I offered to help a friend who was going to throw a surprise 60th Birthday party. I accepted the challenge to provide the Birthday cake. I did this knowing "I knew a guy" that does fantastic looking, but even better tasting, custom cakes. So off I went, across the river to South Richmond, to see if I could trade on my friendship and ask a herculean request. Armed with a photo gotten from Google, 30 potential guests and very little time. Even I was surprised when I was given the response "No Problem". Yesterday was the big day, arrived @ 4:00 PM to pickup for a 6:00 party. Walking in with bated breath, I was quickly greeted with "All ready, let me go get it from the back". Already amazed that it truly was ready I was simply blown away when I saw the spectacularly executed cake. Mind you this wasn't some simple kids sheet cake. Rather a custom made shaped cake. Tres Leches with Dulce de leches filling. Very specific and a favorite of the Columbian Birthday Boy. To say that the cake was a hit is a gross understatement. Everyone LOVED it! Amazingly enough it tasted even better than it looked! So I say with deep & heart felt gratitude, THANK YOU

I placed an order for a cake at this location and on the 20 minute drive from the bakery to my house the back part of the cake feel apart. I called the bakery to receive an explanation on why this happened and the brilliant response i received was you have to drive carefully. No mention of compensation or desire to correct the cake. Dont waste your money here unless you plan to drive 5 miles an hour down the highway with your hazards i guess their cakes are that delicate.

I would give less than a one star if it would let me. Basically ordered a shower cake and was told i'd get a call to make a payment. No call after 24 hours so I call back and its a different person on the phone, also different from the person I saw in store. After all this they tell me there's no order under my name but that not the worst part, charging me $85 instead of the $70 I was told the same cake would cost. Rudely communicates all this to me and also has the nerve to tell me take it or leave the phone??? seriously!!!! NEVER AGAIN!
