REVIEWS OF la Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe Alexandria IN Virginia

Pablo

They could have a better system for matching your order to your table, vs. wandering around. Otherwise, a lovely breakfast.

Morgan Warren

Great breakfast and desserts made fresh. It's a cafeteria style service where you go through a line and order at the end. They have amazing breakfast dishes and coffee drinks and a cool chill atmosphere to hang out.

Lori Goewey

Cafe sampler was delish! Chicken Friand, strawberry spinach salad and cream of mushroom soup.

Ythalo Rossy Saldanha Lira

The place are located on the King Street, the most famous Alexandria street. When you enter on the bakery you can see a lot of products on shelf that was produced by them. The menu is very generous and tasteful. On the last time I ate a croque monsieuer with cappuccino, and I really recommend.

Richard Bunn

Good French food. Reasonable prices

Isabel Rodriguez

Very nice and clean restaurant employees are very kind and the manager is very nice.

M Brooker

Great place. A nice stop if your walking up and down King St in old town Alexandria. Perfect spot to warm up in the cool weather. Fast service and great food.

Cassidy Burke

Food is amazing. So much good stuff but we always come back to our favorites: Pasta La Madeleine and Country French toast...could eat them for every meal.

Robert Bloom

Had dinner waiting for a meeting. Food was excellent.

Lisa Punch

Love the baked goods, chocolate croissants are amazing.

Elaine Crosby

Atmosphere was great. Food was good. Cafeteria style. Heard the pastries are good Too full to try.

Louis Escamilla

Food is absolutely delicious! Been going here for years and have never been let down. Only the service changes from great to meh from time to time.

Gavin Sorensen

The food was incredible, the staff we very helpful, and the desserts were simply amazing.

Angi Scudder

We are here every day (5 days in total) we were visiting DC/Alexandria. The food is good and the pastries are made fresh every morning. The staff is very helpful and friendly too.

Kellie Tyson

Such a cute place! The food was good. I went with girlfriends for a later breakfast and we were all pretty happy with everything we got. Their $5 mimosas definitely a plus. I got the quiche lorraine and it was deliciously. The fruit seemed a little overpriced but I think that's anywhere. Really my biggest issue was deciding what to get! The menu was great and the cases were very tempting.

Dana Franz

Good food, classic euro feel.

Najia Elk

Very nice place .. great Coffee and awesome treats I love Mille-feuille and that's the only place where I can get from. Good service and friendly crew ♥

Bonita Parker

I absolutely love this place! I go to the one in the Kingstown Shopping Ctr ......and the ambience is great. The staff is very friendly. And the food is divine!

Thoburn Freeman

French onion soup was quite salty and frankly, not very appetizing because of it.

Alyona Dotsey

Nice breakfasts!

Ian Lane

Not bad for a chain.

Casandra Montemayor

This is located in olde towne Alexandria. It is small and quaint. Some staff was not so friendly and some were very helpful. I ordered quinoa and kale salad and the lentil kale soup. The soup was very good, meaty. But the salad was alittle bland. It is very healthy but if there were just alittle flavor, it would be alittle better. I will still return to this location and try other things.

Carolyn Farrell

Vacation Old Town Alexandria, Va we had Breakfast there food was Really Good Niice location quick service

ahmie bilang

Very accommodating to bake xtra almond croissant in my behalf☺

Sonia Lynn

A disaster. Messy place and disorganized. Some employees try to do their job.

Arsalan Zia

Terrible food and some of the staff has a very negative and rude attitude towards customers. This combination is a no go!

PAOLA TOBAR

The BEST bakery place. You can buy paste, sanwich, coffee, salads. I love It

Jeb Hoge

Love the location, decor, variety of options, and service. The kids' chicken & cheese pasta is really tasty.

Isabel Mack

Regular lunch spit

Cindy Harris

Not sure if understaffed or system inadequate. Wasnt busy but everyone was waiting. 1 gal getting coffee orders, 1 person ringting folks up...3 people in line took about 10 min to get thur line with all premade food selected. Hmm...

Ratan Sethi

I really like this place. Their roast beef sandwich with the beef broth is amazing. If you also order a side dish, make sure to try their pasta! The reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars is because sometimes their utensils and cups do not look clean... I sometimes get hesitant to use them. Also- I get the whole "French" bakery ambience, but it is a bit too dim. Overall, the food is great, the workers are professional and the crowd is inviting. Definitely check this place out!

Christie Ebersole

It was good but not as good as the last time and one of the members of my party had to wait little longer then usual.

Joseph Sanford

This was my first visit so their ordering system was a bit confusing. You order at the door, go through a kind of line, pay, and then go find your own table. I got the cinnamon croissant, pictured, which was very hard but softened with the syrup. Big fan of the $5 mimosa, including your own bottle and orange juice carafe.

Max Robinson

Oh. My. Goodness. We ate here once, and then went back for three more meals. Fantastic food!

Robert Prescott

Such a great spot to eat in Alexandria. The food is always so fresh and tasty. Sandwiches, soups and desserts are first-class. My students love the fresh baked bread and bought several loaves to take with them. A must for your visit.

Rachel Iverson

Excellent Mocha! Very light mocha much more chocolatey and less sweet than many I have had. Great selection of desserts and very reasonable prices.

Amaara Haani

It’s a cute and quaint place with nice food. I like their collection of desserts and it’s not pricey. I went with family for brunch and enjoyed the place very much.

Ecky Zacharia

Delicious food and great price and nice place!

BigBear Tech

Nice decor and atmosphere. Food is great. Only problem is lines are long, and my bacon was a little undercooked. The bacon want that big a deal, and long lines are normal in old town

Larry Wolff

I can't speak for the pastries, I didn't have any, but the breakfast was mediocre and too long a wait

Tye Kuzniczci

Good food for a chain restaurant, nice atmosphere, courteous staff, and excellent location.

James Wallace

Excellent French bakery with nice treats!

OKay Gee

Used to LOVE the food; especially at this location. But on my last visit (6/9/18) in the middle of the afternoon, with a restaurant full of people watching, a cockroach crawled ahead of me in line! I let Mr. Bugaboo have my spot. I don't care how delicious the soup and bread is, I will not fight pests or rodents for my food .

Jayson Cosgrove

French onion soup was good and my sandwich was solid. Tends to be busy around lunch so expect a wait.

Gerry Stout

Good food & friendly, quaint atmosphere. Service was a little erratic considering it was off peak hours

Edward Petersen

The kids waffle is way too small. Not a good value. Breakfast sandwich was good.

Michelle Hannahs

Excellent service and high quality food. Welcoming place and nice decor.

Lorie Martin

I absolutely LOVE this location and it's the only place I can have a light healthy breakfast at 5:55pm

Cassandra G

Good coffee and croissants! Nice atmosphere. Good for work lunch groups too.

Tiana Bady

So I'm a la madeleine fan definitely. However, this time I was in the Old Town, Alexandria, VA location and witnessed an argument between the manager and the chef that went on "right in front of Jesus". Customers and staff clearly uncomfortable. On top of this my omelet which I asked to be soft was most certainly not because they were too busy arguing. On top of this they gave me an order of broken bacon crisps! The potatoe patties looked like they'd seen better days, sitting in the little window looking parched! smh

William E. Lewis, Jr.

In the Washington D.C. area for a convention, I walked by the La Madeleine French Bakery & Café on King Street several times before stopping in for a late evening meal. It was 9:40 at night and the place was empty but for two tables and myself. At first I thought this was a sit-down style restaurant with full service. It took me a few moments to figure out this was a cafeteria style establishment. Not a negative, but a bit deceptive from the outside looking in. Genet was my cashier/server and I ordered the French Dip sandwich at $8.99 with an upgrade of French Onion soup for an extra buck. I was handed a wooden spoon with number on it and a cup of lukewarm soup. I found a table and had a seat making sure to stand the spoon up straight so my server could locate me once the sandwich was made. French onion soup was - like I said - lukewarm and had a greasy taste. Sandwich wasn’t any better. Restaurant was clean, colorful and very appropriately set. Service was matter of fact and courteous. A few moments checking out the bakery made me wonder why I didn’t order desert rather than soup and a sandwich. /s/ William E. Lewis Jr. Vero Beach, Florida

Charles Farmer

Firehewot always takes really good care of me and my friends and also told me about the la Madeleine app that is very handy. Thanks Firehewot! See you next Wednesday-Charles

Kate Buza

Good food, good coffee, and free wifi!

Adam Turner

The new manager/owner is innovating and trying very hard to please. We stopped here for dinner after returning from vacation in Quebec. It was so nice to hear Bonne Soir when we walked through the door and feel that same sense of friendliness. The location is very nice.

April Crews

Delicious French food and pastries. Quiche and chicken friand are my favorite but the salads are delicious also. The desserts, most notably the chocolate chip cookies, are amazing. Everything there is delicious!

Deborah Swan

Way too expensive

Anchor9Studios

Came on 7/3 and ordered two croissants. Restaurant wasn’t busy. The low review comes because as I was checking out, a bug crawled out from under the counter and towards my food. Grabbed my croissants before the bug got to it but the bug ended up crawling back under the counter right next to the pastry case. And it wasn’t a little spider or a fly but a sizable bug. Get a damn exterminator and get rid of those bugs. That is unacceptable for a food establishment.

William Badey

Garbage place. Takes forever to get food

John Hartel

Tried and true. This place has been around forever but still consistently serves great food at a reasonable price.

Dean Sosa

Great place to have lunch!

Doug Highfill

Awesome pastries, creme brulee was amazing

Ian Mullican

Great place for breakfast. I usually go with a ham & swiss omelet.

Jacquie Cercone

Fantastic.

John Stutts

Waited half an hour for our order - a small quiche.

Mario Rodriguez

The food is great and they have a nice selection of coffee and sweets. The staff is courteous and they try their best but the service is kinda slow. I have seen it most hours rush hours or not. Perhaps the staff size is small than what most would expect. However if you don't mind a wait the food is worth it.

Ellen Holmgren

Bad service and rude workers. Ordered a bowl of the tomato soup and the server said with a rude tone “Say the whole name of the soup”. I was given a large portion although I ordered a medium one, and had to pay for a large one.

WC Purdy

Country French Breakfast was quite good.

Yoradyl Benitez

I love their coconut cake!

Dianne Saltzman

Always enjoy a stop here when we visit Alexandria. The wait staff is typically not as charming as the food. Orders are placed cafeteria-style, which doesn't speed the food to your table, but I've enjoyed every dish immensely and we love gathering small bite pasties to sample after our meal. Those are marvelous.

Allen Noble

Didn't ever think I would leave a bad review but here goes. My advice - "Stay to baked items and anything already cooked unless you have alot of time and like fast food type service staff". Went this morning for two eggs and sausage. 45 minutes later I ask for a status. To which I was told they ran out of sausage and this was the reason it took a long time. Worried they might run out of eggs next and having work the next day. I told them keep the money and I would go somewhere else. She insisted I talk to the manager. He came said nothing only looked bothered and rang out the refund. Left it to her to pay out. I guess he is either use to it or just hates when someone doesn't want to wait on the chicken to lay the egg so they can cook it.

Amos Chiang

Very cute and beautiful place. Fantastic services with great smile. The bakery, however, is interesting. They don't serve the ones in the display cabinet, but a fridge underneath, and they are so cold it's hard like rock

Bryan Dotson

When you first walk in its not super clear how things work, but the staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was amazing.

Shawtie Lewis

Great / fast service. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese croissant. It was delicious. They are huge too as my husband tried to eat two.

Christopher Buzby

Went for breakfast, everything was okay, nothing blew me away. Kids portions were small my 6 years old was ready to eat another portion...

Fallon Valentine

Amazing food. Good location and great customer service

James Seely

One of those places you’re shocked has four stars after you go to it. Hell, I probably would’ve given it three if I went in with a two star expectation. Like the disneyland of Paris in there. Trying to be Parisian but failing. The croissants were the good part. The coffee was also pretty good. The orange juice and food left a lot to be desired. The orange juice was so watered down that the fact it was fresh didn’t matter. The fruit was sour and low on flavor. The worst part is the setting. Trying so hard to be French is comical.

Maya Gigaroa

They had very good food. I strongly recommend the mozzarella and tomato sandwich. It was the best sandwich I've ever had. Their tomato soup was also very delicious. Perfect for a date, or just a lunch with friends.

Cheri Sandford

Looking for more than just the typical American cafe experience? La Madeleine offers well-made coffee, drool-worthy French bakery items, and homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches. You can even enjoy a glass of French wine.

Zach Pagel

Beef & Parm potatoes...really complementary to this gray, cool day. Comfort food. One star short...they have wine but no beer.

Mark Zemplinski

Cute place for a self service lunch. Food came out promptly, and warm. Good flavors. Very nice bakery area. Good lemon tart. Cute that when in restroom they give you recorded French lesson, hmm, interesting.

John Tweel, Jr

Lousy. The woman behind the serving line couldn't speak English. All I wanted was tea, my friend wanted coffee and they were out. Not going back

Josh Williams

Great option in Old Towne to not have to pay too much for food. We had the brie, turkey, and apple sandwich. Tasted great. Also had the French Dip, but didn't expect the horseradish. It was okay as a French dip sandwich goes, but they have a lot better options on the menu. I also always get the dressing on the side for the Cesar Salad. Seems to come overdressed when they do it for you.

Frank H

We enjoyed the pastries!

Gretchen Roberts

I went to go and order and the lady instead of taking my order took the rich looking couple behind me order and told me to wait while she took like four different peoples orders. I eventually gave up and didn’t order anything and left mad and hungry.

Natasha Escamilla

Best country breakfast you can get, even better is the coffee that is brewed here. I enjoy stopping by and having a delightful time.

Graham Campbell

Granted, perhaps coming here during the witching hour of 4:30PM on a Sunday was a mistake. The concept here is like a fast casual for French food, but the execution is confusing. There are trays and a cafeteria line that snakes past a salad and soup station, but if you want more, you need to order at the register at the end. They could use some signs explaining how it works, or perhaps have people asking what you wanted while you were in line, to speed up the process. Finally, the woman at the register ended up taking my receipt so she could use it to see what we ordered, which is confusing as they have a POS which should print that out somewhere. Never did get the receipt back.

Al Thompson

Service is average for the area (i.e., apathetic, indifferent), the croissants seemed day old (definitely not fresh, had to ask for butter). At least the coffee was hot.

Xavier Cavanaugh

Nice place to eat & clean & very good customer service & the Food is DELICIOUS !

jim scudder

Simply incredible! Some of the best desserts and meals we've had. Daily baked bread and melt in your mouth desserts. Great spot for mimosas and croissants.

Athelda Johns

First and only time at this location. Sunday brunch was drastically understaffed thus long line and slow service. I like food but will go backto Kingstowne location.

Ki Ki

Roach infested!! I LOVVVEEE LA MADELINE. It’s my “McDonald’s”! I used to eat this EVERYDAY on my lunch break until 5 of my coworker’s presented me with their pictures of roaches all over that place. I’m so sad about this because the food is awesome. I would not recommend this place for sanitary reasons (FYI management is aware of the infestation) but, If you don’t care about that.. great food.

Benzworld

Nice French Breakfast but prices are much too high and far too small portions

Chris Birkhimer

We only went to the bakery side. Workers were nice but I think they forgot about my wife's item that was to be heated up. Took we'll over 5 min for them to heat it and then when we got it it was barely warm. It tasted good though.

Elena Murillo

I always go to have some of their tomato soup... Salads, deserts and coffee are also great!

Chris C

Very nice and convenient.

Clinton craddock

Depends on who the manager on duty is to determine the quality of food and service. Two out of last three times, counter staff were confused, incompetent, left customers standing at register and got order wrong. Restaurant customer seating area was in disarray, access to restrooms blocked with cleanig equipment, etc. Manager looked harried or maybe just as confused as counter staff. Last visit different manager on duty and things were as expected

Slash

This place has such a nice atmosphere the cafe was a little too mainstream for me but hey its Alexandria what do you expect? I usually bring my tinder date's when I get bored here every Friday and Wednesday and the chef behind the counter always peeks when I come in and gives me that look like "lol which one is this?" Anyway awesome staff, and okay coffee. Eh I'll give it 5 stars.

Sara Clemence

Dreadful food—the scrambled eggs taste like they were made the night before. Confused and confusing service: Do you seat yourself? Wait? Take your own menu? Where do you order cooked-to-order dishes? Servers slop food into bowls and will bring you half your meal with no clue they’ve missed the rest.

Karen Wilkins

Good food

ZipTech

Fast Service, and nice and friendly staff, good food, can get a bit crowded

Andreas Schreiber

Nice place with great Coffee and awesome treats.

Regina Cobb

Everything in this bakery/ restaurant is great.

Philip Stockton

Good but very generic.

Brittaney Wright

I really enjoyed the Eggs Basque dish! Good iced coffee. I had never tried breakfast there before, but I liked the selection. They have great soups for lunch and dinner!

Tim McIntyre

Great friendly staff with good quality food. If you are in the area try the Tomato Basil soup. I highly recommend.

Dotti Rubino

Food is good but prices are outrageous

John Wasserman

Looks very cute the price was right

Michael Burmeister

Better than Starbucks, great coffee and pastries, reasonably priced. Comfortable settings.

Fernando Vasquez

Awesome service

Nestor Gregory

Excellent food for a moderate budget. All day breakfasts, good pastas and fantastic tomato basil soup.

Adi George

Great place to have French Breakfast.

Drew Leins

Love this location of the cafeteria-style French cafe, particularly when it's not hosting tour groups. It is a block away from city hall, where tour buses drop-off and pick-up tour groups. La Madeleine is one of the few places nearby that can accommodate large groups. When they do, expect long lines, waits for food, and a bit of a mess after the group leaves. This place does an admirable job of trying to stay on top of the orders and busing the tables, but it can get overwhelming. When it's quiet, however, this place is wonderful -- a great place to relax over coffee and sweets. Also a great place to get some work done, but beware, there are only three outlets accessible to customers, and they are somewhat hidden.

Andrew Kish

Great place for breakfast, warm and quick!

Cameron Burke

Affordable for imaginitive and hearty fare. Would revisit!

Michael Schneider

Stopped in for a coffee and a snack. It was delicious.

Scott Withrow

Fast, delicious, and cheap spot to grab a pasty and a coffee.

Ethio Worku N Kibu

Nice and fast service

David E. Sullivan

Great food and wonderful staff.

Ilsy Marilyn

I love this Madeline's.. I've been coming here since 2005 and I hope it continues to be there for more years. Old town Alexandria is a very special place and to have a lovely place to dine in for dinner or plain coffee and feel at home, it's exactly how it should be.

Shanna Lyn Willett

I am from Seattle and would LOVE to have one of these close by. It's a coffee house/bakery/deli/restaurant. I had the creamy chicken herb crepe, which was amazing! We tried several desserts from the case and none of them were disappointing. The prices were reasonable as well.

Jeffrey Stoltzfus

Great place for a small group of people to meet for breakfast or coffee.

Urvashi Jain

Coffee, quick bites, and wifi best place to work and meet ups with friends. Lemonade and orange juice is superb must try it. It’s a dessert place also chocolate, vanilla mousse as mouth watering. Very helpful and polite customer service. Outdoor and indoor sitting area restaurant.

Tiara Swindell

Amazing food!! Stuffed croissants are a must try

Sarah Shelton

Big space for breakfast or afternoon bite. Have to order at the counter. Many options, can get confusing to order quickly. Comfortable space to hang out. Nice window seats for people watching.

Jessica Locke

I first discovered this place when my work had la Madeleine catered. SO freaking delicious. Their pastas and chicken are so flavorful! I decided to go there for just myself, and ordered what my work had catered. It was kind of bland. Wasn't worth the $11+ I spent, but I'm willing to give it another shot in hopes that I just came in on a bad day. Plus, every time I have had their catered food, it has been nothing but amazing!

Mark Wilson

Nice food at a good price but not overly helpful staff.

Eileen Harper

The food is good and fast. They have a few locations, this is the closest one to me.The complaints that I have are that the food is a bit pricey for what it is and the staff, well specifically the cashier on the food side * the lady on the pastry side was pleasant* but she didnt seem like she wanted to be there, I'm not sure.

Matt Bright

I generally hate to give negative reviews, but the food quality here is really appalling. The food has that "everything tastes bland yet salty" quality to it that is typical of frozen and microwaved meals. At this location, I managed to get a glance into the kitchen to see such high-end ingredients as "Uncle Ben's Ready Rice" lined up and ready to be nuked. The staff are polite but service is a bit lackadaisical. Old Town has so many better options for quick and cheap food. Please don't waste your time and money by going here. Instead try one of the many excellent locally-owned options in easy walking distance.

Mat Winter

Great coffee!

Zachari

Love this place for lunch. They can be slow sometimes.

hilary stanhope

Good French pastry. Nice location in old town Alexandria. Lots of seating. Only street parking or lots nearby but if you are walking around old town it's a good place to stop in.

Richard Roe

I've been a regular here since 2003. Like, really regular. So much so that the nice Ethiopian ladies who've worked here the entire time have more or less adopted me and like to make sure I have enough to eat. I love this place at night when it's clean, not that crowded and the lights are low. Perfect spot for a nice, unfussy tea-light dinner with unlimited mango iced tea and a good book at one of the cozy tables. Staff is always friendly and if you're a regular they recognize you and say hi, which is nice if you're a transplant from somewhere else in the country (which most DC people are). I will say that over the last few years the food quality has dropped a bit. The cleanliness of the place and organization of the tables/chairs has also taken a hit. They're often out of silverware, condiments or tea these days, too. There's always napkins and food on the floor, newspapers strewn about on the window bars and the bathrooms are straight up wrecked. This may be due to the legions of crowds that have found out about this place, I guess, and how they just hit it like a hurricane on weekday mornings and weekends. I think management could do better by hiring a person to just keep the floor, tables and chairs clean and organized and another person to keep the condiment/drinks/plateware stations stocked. Also wouldn't hurt to have an employee near the start of the line to assist people in how to order as it does indeed get quite chaotic there if there's more than a few people in line.

Mo Lee

Feel like bistro cafe in France. Good coffee selection and fresh bread and desserts that accommodate beverage. Lite menu but if anybody expecting heavy traditional French food, may stay away from here.

Charles Traupmann

Stopped for breakfast on Monday, and were treated so wonderfully we have kept coming back. Food, ambiance, and service are tops

Beth M

Staying at the hotel next door and so glad room service didn't answer! I walked in, so cute, nice warm stat for a little while if you can feel. Had a delicious sampler lunch that was filling, healthy, and less than $13 for a 2 salads (strawberry and bacon spinache, plus fruit salad) and a cup of hearty potato soup. So fresh, homemade, and very flavorful. Highly recommended.

Tehetena DeMessie

Worst phone service ever!!! I called several times to try to reach the location on King street, i was transferred to the one in Bethesda!! Very frustrating when operators are not helpful and transfer without even listening! Impossible to reach King street by phone, they transferred me to Kingstown then again to Bethesda several times! Fix your phone system!!!

Alex Long Neck

Home cooked food at a fast food price. Remember to enjoy the free breads and toppings near soda fountain!

Jude Lopez

Great food and atmosphere.

Aspen English

A refreshing breath of air from the noise and clamor of wharf-side Alexandria, this cafe is quaint, quick, and absolutely delicious.

Sean Marshall

Great food. Totally bad service. Waited forever for food. Glad I was not in much more of a hurry.

Leslie Ayuk

Normally a good experience, but this time: I ordered on the app, went to pick up 25 minutes later and my order had not even been checked or prepared, the baguette I ordered was stale, and I found a hair in my salad. I hate to see the quality of service decline.

Seafront Valley

The best mix of standard/fast food restaurant, beautifully decorated, great food, onion soup totally recommended

JOE A

Great food and pastries, coffee is really good too.

Felix Monsalvo

I love the deserts!

Hurley Bogardus

Food was good. The atmosphere was a bit frenic. Almost too loud to talk.

Alek K

Street parking can be hard to find. Otherwise a nice place to get lunch. It's right next to the courthouse.

Stefan Johansson

A nice cafe to visit for lunch or a cup of coffee (fika). Close to the waterfront.

Caren Thomases

Very good place to hangout with friends and eat good food

Nancy Bonilla

Great French style cafe. The food is amazing, their sweet treats are so delicious. Highly recommend it!

Joshua Griffin

Reasonable food and pastries, great ambiance, and not too pricey. I generally stop by when in the area. Overall, a perfect place to grab a coffee and desert! It seems to have somewhat diminished in quality over the years, but still worth going. The pastries are good, but not quite like being in France. Sometimes it is too crowded and the line is frustrating. Sometimes the tables don't get cleared wiped expediently. It would be nice if some of the staff were French, bringing a more authentic feeling.

Erika Vergara

Delicious! Lovely town

Katherine Ziemke

Stopped by here for lunch with my mom and mother-in-law. It was such a cute spot to grab some good, fresh food. We had a great time and loved the atmosphere. Definitely stop by if you need a bite to eat or an afternoon pick me up!

Jake Artin

I think La Madeleine French Bakery has the best bakery and coffee in Northern Virginia. We usually go to their Kingstowne location but yesterday we were in the Alexandria area with a party of ten people decided to get our usual coffee and sweets. Unfortunately, the place was a disaster. There was not one clean table for us to use. Left over dirty dishes were all over the place. Please if the owners have security cameras I highly recommend them to review it. Also, the restrooms were super dirty. It looked like they were short staffed or something. Disgusting. We couldn't order sweets and had few coffees and left.

Luanna Falcão

Delicious food, excellent service and good price! I loved it!!

Jonathan Weadon

The desserts at this shop are worth the visit. They are delicate, with moist cake and sweet icing without being too overboard. Their croissants are light, flaky, and buttery. Their breakfasts are okay, and though my order was wrong, I did not get the impression I was bothering anyone when I pointed it out and it was fixed quickly. Definitely worth your time if you're nearby, though dessert is the only reason I'd go out of my way.

Demetrius Carter

The entire staff was prompty and food was deliciously fresh.

Erin Tollison

I usually prefer the Kingstowne location to this one, but decided to give it another try. My boyfriend and I ordered lunch on a slow rainy Tuesday afternoon. After paying at the register, they gave us our soup immediately. And they gave us a number for our table so they could bring the rest of the food we ordered. The rest of the food came out as it was ready. I got my sandwich before my boyfriend did and he got his pasta salad before I did, etc. By the time we got everything together, the soups were cold. I also ordered an iced coffee that I had to remind them about and I received it as we were finishing our meal. This would’ve been more understandable if it was a busy lunch hour but there weren’t many people in the restaurant, and when we were leaving the staff was just standing around and talking to each other. Overall, I suggest going to the Kingstowne location over this one.

Rashida Thom

Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful service! The food was delicious as well!
