Hummingbird has become a sweet treat of a place for my daughter and I to share. They even let us host her 7th birthday there two years ago with two of her friends. They made such beautiful cupcakes for her since we weren't sure if her guests would like macaroons. Hummingbird does not host parties any longer, but it was a wonderful memory. We still visit for a delicious dessert. My favorite macaroons are the rose and the Nutella. Absolutely wonderful. We look forward to when the owner opens up her new tea house this February.

This was actually my first time trying a macaron.....and it was amazing! The staff was super nice ....they took the time to go through each flavor.....after contemplating it for a bit I almost got everyone haha! And I'm glad I did. I picked up a couple treats for my neighbor and this was part of the text she sent me: ---- "I have eaten cake all over the world with my son is top restaurants with lovely desserts AND THIS is equal to anything I have ever had. This delicious moist coconut cake ranks up there. And I can't say that about any other quite like this. I hope they have good customers that appreciate their art. I've visited this place since it opened at the original location and I will never stop coming here. All the desserts are impeccable. Their drinks are great too. I've never been disappointed. The staff is sweet. It's very clean, not too loud inside, and there is plenty of seating inside and outside of the Pagoda. I always take family, friends, and visitors here. Definitely recommend!

My bf took me here after getting pizza at Benny's and the mall nearby so was pleasantly surprised by this beautiful gem - being near the water, having a very serene and calming vibe to it, and then of course, the view which definitely added to the atmospheric beauty this temple encompassed. I loved the charm this place had, the yin and yang stone art and how pretty it was even on the inside - from the decor, its vibrant colours, and the choice of furniture - some looking antique but with a more modern and comfortable vibe. The only thing I will add was not as pleasant, was that there wasn't any soap in the bathroom, nor was there any extra toilet paper. Overall, the macarons we got were pretty good - I haven't had them enough to compare them to much even though I do like macarons quite a bit, but all in all a worthwhile experience I don't regret!

Bottom line - this place knows how to make a macaron! They were slightly crunchy on the outside and soft & chewy on the inside, just perfect. The banana pudding macaron legit tasted like fresh banana pudding. The lady helping us out was very kind and helpful. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the macarons are $2 EACH (!!!). Very expensive for such a small treat. However, the price is worth it because they ARE delicious and it is supporting a local small business. Definitely give them a try!

Love the new location at the Pagoda. Macarons are delicious and a great variety. Really enjoy the tea bar, too. Will be visiting them often! Update: the last 3 times we went we left unhappy. All 3 times we met there at 10a.m. and the door was locked. Sign said Open at 10. The last time 3 employees walked up at 5 after 10, saw us waiting, had keys, and let themselves in, locking the door behind them. They never acknowledged us waiting. We won't go back. I hope there's enough tourists to keep them happy because they've disregarded several locals. Sad.

The shop itself is adorable and it's located in a really pretty and quiet part of town. I love them, I make a point to go a couple times a month and I even want to have these macarons at my wedding! My husband and I fell in love with Macarons while in Savannah GA. We have lived in Norfolk for almost a year and finally decided to try Hummingbird. Amazing, amazing quality and taste and great prices. They do allow small tastings of the Macarons as well which was a huge plus! My husband got Nutella & I got Red Velvet. The Nutella was absolutely outstanding, the Red Velvet wasn't what I wanted it to be (still tasted amazing and had nuts in the filling! YUM). We'll be back soon hopefully to try more Macarons and they're other amazing looking Pastries!

This is my favorite place to buy macarons in Hampton Roads. The variety of flavors is the best I've seen and includes their own unique creations. This location is gorgeous, inside and out, with plenty of seating. It's a great place to visit with family and friends or alone to relax with a pot of tea.

I have had macaroons once before from another place. At the time, I didn't know what to expect when I bit into them, are they chewy and sweet? It ended up being hard and bitter in taste and I couldn't understand why anyone would enjoy them as a dessert. My fiance and I went into Hummingbird Macarons today. I thought it was time to give macarons another shot (it has been over 3 years since my first encounter) and I had been eyeing this place for awhile. The macaroons were DELICIOUS. I had a Nutella flavored one and a Rose Water one. The rose water literally tasted like roses smell. Both of them were gone in seconds and now I realize that I have been turning up my lip to something incredible for over 3 years because someone had given me a stale and bitter macaroon. I highly recommend getting an assortment of macaroons in every flavor that seems appealing when you go because that is my biggest regret now. I did not get enough! Also, if you like coffee or tea, head next door to Cure. The two complimented each other perfectly!

Holy Smokes!!! This place is GREAT!!! I am from out of town and stopped by on a recommendation. The atmosphere is very cute - the selection varies greatly across the desert spectrum (macarons, cookies, cakes, brownies, cannoli, etc) and coffee is available - the costumer service was TOP NOTCH (thanks Mrs. Alison!!) ... and the food ... AMAZING!!!!! Honestly - amazing doesn't really even touch what I just ate. Highly recommend making a visit if you are in town or making it a regular stop if you live near. If you are just visiting - please take note and allow yourself a few visits ... trust me on this one you will need / want to. If you're dieting - make this your cheat day ... and if you're not then make it your EVERYDAY!! #NOTdisappointed #

If your in Norfolk area you MUST stop in. It is one of the sweetest shops I have ever been in. There was a great variety but the Macarons were what I was there for. She let us sample what we wanted. They have flavors of the day and season so there is always something new I recommend the Belize macaron, it is amazing. Get a cup of coffee and a few treats and relax in a comfortable chair.

2 stars for employee knowledge but 5 stars for the taste and quality of their food. I was trying to figure out a cake i had before when they were located in Greenbrier. I couldn't remember and the only one i remembered was a salted caramel cake but the one i had before was a banana cake. It wasn't until after i got home that i called the store that they told me it was a salted caramel banana cake. The one behind the glass said it was a salted caramel cake. Not banana. So i purchased the hummingbird cake since my birthday is tomorrow. After i got home i then realized that they gave me a whole cake that had scoring marks on the top of the cake.. I wished I had paid attention if the cake had scoring marks on it or not...The representative knew it was my birthday cake and I wished she asked me if i minded the scoring marks on the cake.. I still love their deserts. Nothing compares to their deserts in the hampton roads area.

My Fiance and I did a wedding cake tasting here. The cake was delicious, unique, and fairly priced. The manager and owner were very personable and made the wedding planning experience one of the most enjoyable ones so far. ***Edit*** I changed my review from 5 stars to 3 because they were 2.5 hours late when delivering my wedding cake. They never called to tell us they would be late and it was a struggle to get ahold of them. They also never talked to either myself or my husband (to apologise or at least explain) when they finally did arrive.

They also do macaron towers for weddings (a friend of ours had one and it was great)! My favorite flavors are rosewater and salted caramel! The place is cute a bit snobbish and extremely overpriced. What has potential is $2.00 a macaron which wouldn't be so bad if they were consistent. What wasn't okay $8.00 for a runny lemon tart and $9.00 for a a very pretty strawberry almond cake that looked way better than it tasted with a crumbly not very moist texture and icing that was stiff the whole thing just seemed old. The macarons which were okay the birthday one was perfect texture and filling. The hummingbird had a good filling that was chewy otherwise the shells were crispy same with the oreo however the inside wasn't so great. I expected so much more from this place, such a let down.

I love this place. I love the daily menu changes to keep your mind wondering on what they will have today. The environment is great. My first taste of macaroons was in France during my deployment in 2016, upon returning, I discovered them with a love of mine (at the time) and they are delightful, enchanting and worth every bit of sweetness that they pack.

All I can say is WOW!! We had two different kinds of desserts during our visit....a whiskey caramel brownie and a piece of vanilla bean buttercream cake. They were off the charts amazing! Throw in the quaint and peaceful atmosphere and it would be a great place to meet with the girls, a bookclub or a cute date night destination. But by all means dont discount it for a great afternoon family outing either. We will absolutely be going back!

Me and my boyfriend came here kind of by accident. We came so I could show him the super beautiful garden! We wondered into the hummingbird lounge, I’ve seen the building before but never went inside. The upstairs upside was beautiful! The bartender was AWSOME! the drinks are limited, but you can make it work. The desserts where....interesting. The Nutella macaroons are the best! It was the best place to spend the last few hours with my boyfriend before he catches his flight: thank you!

My husband and I went to dinner with a few friends at Zoe’s Steakhouse in va beach a couple months ago. For dessert we had macaroons. This was my first time trying them so i thought they were delicious. However my husbands friend said they were mediocre and we should try Hummingbirds. OMG!

Flavors change! I went there the first time on a Saturday and tried 12 unbelievably amazing and creative flavors for Macarons. The next week I went on Friday and there was already quite a few new flavors. They switched out fast! I love this place! Such a treat!
