REVIEWS OF Georgetown Cupcake IN Virginia

If you come on a weekend, beware of the parking. You have been warned! The line definitely moves quickly but I do recommend pre-ordering if you just want to grab your super delicious cupcakes and find a more quiet place to enjoy them either on your own or with that someone special. Did I mention that they are delicious! Like other premium cupcake locations, the variety of frosting and soft cake definitely make this a place to go to if you're in the area.

Rob Macdonald

We stopped in after walking around the university. The place was very busy, lined up out the door. It moved fast. The store is so well laid out and visible from the street. The group of us tried a few of the different cupcakes. They were over the top. The best one was the peanut butter. But all of them were good. They have a large variety of flavors. I am sure you can find a favorite! There is minimal parking in this part of town. So good luck if you try and drive here.

Madeline Coats

Had a good experience. Loved the cupcakes- they’re definitely more about the fancy frosting instead of a good tasting cake. It’s definitely hyped up, but still good. Line moves efficiently, it was out the door around 1:30pm on Sunday afternoon. Labor Day weekend. We tried 6 flavors - pictured below. Carrot Cake Caramel Apple - has a filling Oreo cheesecake - actual cheesecake with an Oreo crust bottom Milk chocolate vanilla Salted Caramel Vanilla

It’s MUST try place in Georgetown. Usually the lines are pretty big but fat moving. The shop is open until 10pm but they serve the customer who are in line by 8pm. You can even order online and pick up in store. The store is small but it has varieties of cupcakes. I really like gluten free strawberry lava fudge, red velvet, pink rose, lovendar, and I forgot the name but it has orange flavour base and that taste amazing.

Teis Aalbæk-Nielsen

It was a nice place and a good cupcake. I feel like it's a bit overhyped, cause it was just a good cupcake, not like overly fantastic

Bethany Lee

Slightly disappointed... we got a six pack (and spent wayyy too much money on it) and one of the six was really good. The other 5 were just decent. The one we enjoyed was a cheesecake something, but the bottom of it was all crumbled cookie that just fell apart and made a huge mess... I guess I expected more considering the reviews and popularity. Baked and wired was better....

David S

Cupcakes were delicious and worth the wait. There’s was a lineup when we got there, but it seemed to go pretty quick. We decided to go there for desert instead of having it at the restaurant. Will visit again.

George Fountain

Great cupcake, really POOR national shipping! I've had several orders lost and I was not notified. I call to get a tracking number but either no one answers the phone, does call back or their shipping department is closed even before 5pm eastern! Ridiculous, and I am so mad!

Werner Kinney

So yummy. The most amazing cupcakes with many different flavors and icing. I went with parents and received a dozen cupcakes 2 for us each. I got the salted caramel and cookies and cream ones. They were amazing.

Jennifer Moyer

Was very excited to try this place, so my husband brought a dozen cupcakes home for my birthday. I was disappointed because the cupcakes were extremely dry.

Kevin Koch

A bit of a wait, but totally to be expected with this kind of quality and quantity. They did run out of a cupcake the order before ours (

Bobbyboyl Tami

cupcakes are good but not great. they are too sweet and there are more local alternatives in the city such as the cakeroom and baked and wired

Paranormal Society

As seen on TV is an understatement. This little cupcake place is amazing and offers great desserts. It is on the more expensive side but it is well worth it given how famous this place and how many people visit it on a daily basis. It is a little crowded and goes into the street when busy. But it is well worth the long wait.

Tara Cucorullo Johnston

Not worth the hype. Cupcakes were dry.

Eleanor Staine

We loved it and the line was long but they were getting thru the line quick. Great cupcakes. Great experience.

Josh Rees

Georgetown cupcakes lives up to the hype. The cupcakes are amazing and they have a huge variety. I would definitely recommend coming here and buying a dozen....or two.

Nakeisha Dorsey

OMG these cupcakes are amazing!!!! if you're trying to lose weight please don't visit this you will want to buy every cupcake that they have

Juan

The cupcakes were ok. Nothing especial. Definitely not worth the $3.50 per cupcake. Finding parking is a headache or you can opt to pay for parking. The line was out the door.

Keisha Mohamed

Long line but worth the wait!

April Haworth

Omg I would gain 50lbs pounds working here!!! Everything was so good no GREAT. Made it worth the 75 mile trip!!!

Rohan Brebion

The big question is it worth the long lines? My short answer yes if you are going to buy at least few types of cupcakes, the queue looks under 30 minutes, and the weather is good. I really liked how many of the cupcakes have a filling or a cream injected into their core; take the hot chocolate cupcake for example it had a very light almost milky/frothy center that complemented the dark chocolate cupcake. Make sure you have napkins btw!

Nicole Lloyd

The cupcake itself was good. Did not taste the coconut in the coconut caramel chocolate cupcake. The ambiance of the place leaves a lot to be desired. Staff yellin' at customers to line up by the blackboard. Geeze that sure took the fun outta that.

Mark Hondo

Only a 30 minute wait on a Saturday night. The cupcakes were delicious!

Clayton Haworth

These may be the most amazing cupcakes in the world! Plenty of choices. Usually a line, but it moves quickly.

Camron Franklin

The Blueberry Cheesecake cupcake was amazing. A little bit of heaven in your mouth.

Alan Fried

It's ok. They cheap out on all the good ingredients. Red velvet- not enough chocolate. Cream cheese frosting - not enough cream cheese. Chocolate cheesecake cupcake- not very good. The chocolate totally fell apart - not enough butter! You get the picture.

John White

Nice place and I like their cupcake

Laura Lauder

I got the key lime cheesecake and chocolate birthday cake cupcakes. I was geared up for the to be totally average after all the hype, but I LOVED them both. I stood in line for 20-30 minutes waiting, and it was worth it.

Melissa Crespin

Visiting from MD, I was super excited to go to Georgetown Cupcake for the first time. I wasn't disappointed! Cupcakes were moist and the flavors were delicious! Cashier was very friendly and helpful, which was appreciated! And I love the pink boxes!

Jonathan Schroeder

Peanut Butter Lava cupcake (pictured at left) was amazing; the peanut butter frosting tastes like it came straight out of a jar of JIF but is super light. Strawberry Lava cupcake was a little disappointing. Cupcakes are a little small, too (think grocery store size), and have lots of frosting, but they give you a nice to-go box. All things considered, it's a nice place, but I prefer Baked and Wired.

Kathryn James

Why is this the only place with perfect cupcakes? The line is always long and the cupcakes are always minutes away from being perfectly frosted. Their size is just large enough to satisfy a craving - while possibly sampling 2 scrumptious flavor combinations - but full of fresh, natural flavor not over-sweetened or over-stuffed with fake junk. With ~20 flavor combinations ranging from traditional chocolate or birthday vanilla to special seasonals like key lime or lemon lavender, the wait is always worth it. The ability to order 24 hours ahead online and skip the line is fantastic!!

Brody Hagemeier

The best cupcakes in Washington, DC! I love the cookies-and-cream frosting.

Deric Tilson

A bit busy, but the chocolate ganache cupcake was amazing.

Arlington Based

I know I'm basic for coming here but the line moved quickly and the vanilla cupcake was pretty good. Still think that Sprinkles has the better cupcakes. Or Baked & Wired.

Timothy Fitzgerald

These are some rich cupcakes! I got the strawberry cheesecake, and it felt like it was more of a peice of cheesecake than a cupcake, but with a fun little twist to it. I quite enjoyed it, but it would be difficult to eat more than one of those. Be careful when you come by, I've seen the line go out the door and up the street. I've also walked in, ordered, and sat right down, so it really just depends.

SAMIA EL BAROUDY

Georgetown cupcake management does not care about pedestrians being hit by cars coming up 33 rd st. The line waiting to enter takes over the entire side walk. We have no way of using the side walk because GT cupcake does not provide a demarcation for the line so that pedestrians may share the side walk. We residents brought this issue to the management of Georgetown cupcakes. We suggested that they put some barrier to make the forming line take a part of the side walk and leave the other part to pedestrians so that they don’t get hit by cars, but they did nothing about it. When I pass this area, I feeI am taking my life into my own hands as I have to walk in the street and face the rushing unsuspecting cars who are trying to make the light to 33rd street, which is the gateway of Georgetown. I hope someone sees this and pays attention to this issue and save lives.

Terra Howard

In our family we do fun reviews on new cafes and bakeries. So my daughter wanted our upcoming bakery trip to be Georgetown cupcakes! So I placed a pickup order yesterday for a pickup today at 10:00. We live over an hour away and with traffic and life we ended up arriving around 11 something. Our review has three factors : The look of the place The Customer Service The Food We score from 1-10 and at the end say if it is a repeat. So here’s our review

Josh Watt

Delicious cupcakes. Lives up to its reputation!!

Will Singleton

The line really isn’t too bad depending on when you go. The cupcakes are awesome and location is even better.

Jaime Tant

They live up to the hype! I waited in line 20 minutes while my boyfriend drove around looking for a place to park. By the time I got inside, I knew what I wanted! The hummingbird cake was so good I wanted to cry. The red velvet was smooth and the icing creamy. Salted caramel and cherry cheesecake can’t even be described , they were so good. This is another tradition I’ll begin every time I visit DC

manal maroua BOUCENNA

By far one of the BEST cupcakes I ate in my life ! The staff was lovely and the shop is super cute. Will definitely come back during my next stop at Washington!

Molly McGaan

Twice I have ordered cupcakes for delivery and both times they never arrived, putting me in the embarrassing position of having to apologize for missing birthday gifts. Very disappointed.

BeardedScout

Great cupcakes that change from day to day. If you want good seasonal flavors this is the spot to hit up.

Mitch Dorrell

When we arrived (Sunday mid afternoon, Labor Day weekend), there was a long line out the door and up the side-street, but the line moved fairly quickly. It was well worth the wait. The cupcakes are amazing. We tried the PB&J and the Unicorn, and both were fantastic! I'm eager to try their Bethesda location as well! There is limited seating available inside, but with how busy it was today, I wouldn't count on finding a free table. I'll be visiting Georgetown Cupcake again!

LizzeLiz Greay

Best of the best hands down. Super tasty, beautiful, incredible cupcakes. I walk in and always get way too many. These are definitely some of the best around. Staff is also always really sweet.

Cat Ly

Cute location in Georgetown, and the first bite makes it clear why they're so famous! The cupcakes come in so many flavours (listed in the store and on the website), but they truly won me over with the vegan and gluten-free options. Both are delicious, and I have never had a better vegan cake!

Jenn M

Best cupcakes I’ve ever had. The mint cookies and cream are my favorite! Best to order online and pick up to avoid the long lines.

Kelli Reed

Awesome cupcakes and multiple options. There is almost always a long line but the staff moves fast so the wait is not too long.

parth soni

I visited during the cherry blossom festival so obviously there was a long queue for ordering cupcakes + many cupcakes were unavailable (but cannot blame them). The people are nice and they help you with the selection. Cupcakes lived up to the hype. Five stars!!

Laura Osman

Why you gotta be so good?!

asish kurian

Place is bit overrated. Cup cakes are just okay , nothing special

ABC-Computers-Repair

Even the cupcakes doesn't look like before employees and the employees has the same spirit to serve the costumers we still stopping here for some good cupcakes good part is no more longer line or maybe because is the cool season ??

G. C.

Best cupcakes hands down in the DMV area. Yes during popular times you will experience a wait but this is easily avoided by looking up flavors online ahead of time to speed up ordering and/or placing a pick up order on the website. These cupcakes are consistently delicious, very light and fluffy. Employees work fast to help move lines along and package your cupcakes nicely to-go. Minus one star for the cramped setup in the store and no discount for bulk orders. Expanding the store and offering a few deals now and then would definitely bring me back here more often.

Annie P

My all time favorite Chocolate Ganache

Leslie Leavitt

Adorable little shop. We loved all the cupcakes we bought. Red velvet, salted caramel chocolate chip, lemon cheesecake, chocolate², chocolate coconut, and bunny funfetti! Delicious

Rocket Man

Clean Great service Great team chemistry. They know their product well Great tasteful Cupcakes; pure happiness! Clean but not too much area for a lot of seating Extremely crowded but their system works Kid friendly Soft music while you wait People come across the world to eat these babies and I definitely know why There's no drive thru service

Sarah Slack

There was no line and a huge assortment of different kinds of cupcakes..making hard to decide! We settled on peanut butter/chocolate, butterscotch/waffle cone, vanilla birthday cake, chocolate ganache, mint chocolate. These cupcakes are delicious...my kids thoroughly enjoyed them. $20 for half a dozen. Must try when in DC!

Cynthy Greene

Amazing cupcakes. Super addicting and need to stay far far away but I CAN'T. Worth every calorie. Worth every penny.

Mrs. O'Neal

Icing and cupcakes OH MY!! If you love buttercream icing and cool flavors, then this is the place for Y-O-U!! Even the pickiest dessert lover will love this place! It’s right on the corner, staff is friendly. I give it four stars only because I gifted two dozen to my daughter’s daycare and they didn’t have a tag with all the flavors that I could give the teachers for reference! The staff member told me just to go to the website(but that’s not an option for the teachers) the cupcake it self is almost like a pound cake, thick the flavors of the icing isn’t to sweet or overpowering. Prices are pretty high one is 3.50 before tax. A dozen is 36.00 so it can add up pretty quick!

Noorjahan Oomatia

Cake of unique variety n must visit if you go to Georgetown.

Jocelyn Deleon

I always loved coming here until today, it was one minute past 9pm, I saw a couple walk in so I thought they was still letting people in. I literally walked in a few seconds after them and they told me they was closed but didn’t tell them. I feel as though they were being racist, me being Hispanic and the couple being white, felt as though I was being treated different, they could’ve simple told everyone who walked past 9 that they was close or just lock the doors! Never again!

Eddie Ishak

Waited in line for 30 minutes to eat a mini cupcake that cost $3.50. The place was filthy, couldn’t even sit down at a table. Not recommended.

Erica Johnson

This particular location always has great cupcakes, especially in the summer (the humidity keeps them moist). Theres usually not a line in the morning.

R A

Friendly staff but you will be waiting for a too much time but it deserves since the cupcakes very delicious and special

Cassandra Suber

A must stop for my daughter when we visit DC. Be prepared to wait in line for these delicious cupcakes.

Sri Pabbathi

Lived up to its hype. We were lucky to go when there was no line. We even got a place to sit!

Ardian FuGaA Kurtolli

Wow! I stumbled upon this gem by accident! No waiting time (well 5 min is nothing) and got served by an Albanian girl! What an coincidence! The

Sue Dr

The best cupcakes ... love this place! Ppl are friendly and the service is fady .. go check it out if you are in Georgetown :)

Peter Stinson

Fantastic cupcakes. Supremely nice staff. I eat gluten free, and the GF lava chocolate was awesome. Moist. Delicious. Couldn't have been better. Monday evening: still a line, albeit fairly short.

Navi Oraa

Manager was very understanding when it came to an accidental order mishap, I would definitely come back and order again for more big events!! The cupcakes were lovely and delicious as well ☺️

Suns Gates

Cupcakes were ok but I have had so much better

Alexandra Buss

Cupcakes were yummy but tiny and priced a little too high for me. I like a big fat cupcakes for that price.

Nettan Vincent

I promised my husband I would share our experience after today’s visit to Georgetown Cupcakes. The service was very poor. It was not that busy when we got there and after picking up our order we went to sit down only to find dirty tables available. We asked nicely if the tables could be cleaned off so we could sit down and the A T T I T U D E the young woman gave us with a snotty response that yes she could do that for us...was unreal. We waited and waited while she continued to put sticker on the little pink boxes...with no line by the way - she never bothered. We grabbed a “less dirty” table and ate our overpriced cupcakes. On the way out I stopped by the restroom only to find that in very poor condition ; no seat covers left, paper towels spilling over the trash and just overall dirty. We walked out and got a delicious cappuccino at Peet’s across the street - with excellent customer service. I looked over at Georgetown Cupcake and the table we had asked to be cleaned off was still not cleaned off....very sad...I’ll never go back and will share my sentiments ... Disappointed to say the least... A smile, a friendly personality and look you in the eyes is basic customer service..

Kevin Cook

Georgetown Cupcake is a great place. If you walk by it, yes, the line of often pretty long, especially when the weather is nice. It does move pretty fast, though, usually taking no more than 15 minutes. On one hand that is admittedly a long time to wait for some cupcakes, but I've never been disappointed by a visit. If it's too hot and the line is up around the block maybe pass back on by after a typical rush time. But if you're already someone inclined to wait for cupcakes, you'll be happy you did.

Allison Scully

I would drive 4 hours to DC just for these cupcakes. They are the best cupcakes I've ever had. A little pricey but worth every penny. The way they make their icing is amazing. When looking at their menu online, it looks like they're cupcake flavors change from day to day. Line was out the door but moved quickly. A little tough to find parking, we ended up parking on one of the side streets and walking.

Ben Barnet

I’m not big on sweets but tried it for the sake of its popularity and man they are finger licking good. Already went back for more. Highly recommend

gabriel felx

Nice experience at this shop as always. Yes it could be very crowded and you have to wait outside, but it's worth it. You have a lot of choices of flavors and different packaging size are avalaible. If you visite the city it's a little bit outside the downtown area, but it's located in a really nice and high end area.

Nicole Stevenson

Not worth it at all the cupcakes are ok and the line is always long, go to baked and wired instead it’s so much better.

S. Majid

Super duper cupcake place!! I just loved the variety they had, and since it's not a huge cupcake, one can try several :) They had a queue, which usually means good quality! The service was quick. They also have a small seating area, where you may find a place by sheer luck. They have coffee too! So a great place to go to if you are in DC. And once you are there don't settle for one or 2, have a box. With cute packaging, they also make for a great gift. Across the street, if you keep going you will find a great water body. It's the river that you can see from K Street..sorry I don't know the name of that spot..but a lot of tourists and students from Georgetown University hang out there. So treat yourself to a small picnic in a nice weather!!

Jane L

Georgetown Cupcake is mostly for tourists but that's ok. What I like about it is that it's a DC business that has kept up its hype for over 10 years! That's impressive. I go for the free secret flavor of the day and find it totally worth waiting in short to moderate lines. The cupcakes all taste great. I don't think I've ever had a bad one. There are a few tables inside but mostly this is a to-go type place.

Jason Chen

Goodest and most wholesome sweets I've had in a while. Long wait was worth it as there aren't other cupcake shops nearby.

Emily Counsellor

The cupcakes were sweet, but not too sweet! Also a wide variety of flavors which was nice and they even had milk for my boyfriend who can't eat a cupcake without it! Not a whole heck of a lot of space to sit down but people leave pretty quickly so it's not much of an issue! Deeeeelicious!

Marcus White

Not just TV show hype. This place was and is still one of my favorite places to get a sweet thank you or thank myself. I wish they would shift around the daily specials as it is hard to make it there during the week to get a taste of some of my favorites when I get a sweet tooth.

Peter Poythress

Overrated and far too expensive. If you're into the novel idea of being in a shop that was on TLC, great; otherwise, I recommend Baked and Wired.

Emily Thomas

Great cupcakes! It is worth the wait... btw even though the line may look long, it is because there is not much room to stand inside the store.

John Harvey

Cupcakes here are absolutely creative and delicious. A little pricey at $3.50 a cupcake, but so hard to resist. Be sure to check out their online menu as the selection of cupcakes varies by the day of the week. Lines tend to form out thedoor, but in my opinion, worth the wait.

James Ross

Nice display but cupcakes are very average

Bryan Torres

Super delicious. I could only eat 1 tho cuz they were hella sweet Ladies working here are lovely too!

Joseph Seriki

The line maybe long but this place is part of Georgetown. Great for birthday parties, open houses or just a dessert for the house. A+

Andrea Wu

I'm not sure what's up with the hype here, but it was a very average cupcake shop to me. Their range of unique flavors is the one aspect that stands out, but even then, it's just alright. There was a line here but it moved quickly and it wasn't too long when I came on a Sunday around noon. I got the lavender earl grey teacake and the peanut butter fudge, which came out to be $7.70 post tax which is quite pricey for two cupcakes of that size. Almost half the cupcake is the frosting which I didn't eat because it's too sweet and too much. The cake part was moist and I liked the melted chocolate inside the peanut butter fudge. The earl grey one's flavor was good, and the peanut butter frosting was flavorful too. The frostings were just a bit too sweet and too much. Kudos for the range of flavors, but it's really just an average cupcake shop.

Weining Guan

Really brightful shop at a corner of Georgetown. Long queue of people cuz of the renowned cupcake. The cake itself, however, is a bit too sweet for me

Charlene Printz

This place is completely over rated and it always shocks me to see the long line they have. Cupcakes are mediocre and they do not have a Gluten-Free, Vegan option, just gluten free. I highly recommend Red Velvet Cafe. The additional reason for the one star is due to the rude staff member we encountered. I understand you're busy, but you are still in a customer service industry.

Jenny Saufl

Got the peanut butter fudge cupcake. The frosting was amazing as well as the fudge ganache. The cake itself was dry and a bit crumbly. The size was perfect and the price was just fine, for the quality. Service was fast, friendly and prompt. Would visit again to try a different flavour and see if the cake was a little more moist. Also note, far better all around than Sprinkles.

Cindy Carissa

For a non cupcake lover, try this one. For cupcakes lover, must try this one as well. For me, their cupcakes are amazing. It was so moist, not too sweet, flavorful, and yet the price was decent. No wonder people from afar come to try this beautiful sweet delight. Not too worried for the long line, because they have a good system and they work efficiently. My favorite was peanut butter, but the seasonal flavor was also memorable.

Karen Duncan

i love georgetown cupcakes, have ordered from them several times; however i placed an order online days in advance, only to get to the store and my order wasn't ready. my event was starting soon and i had to sit there and wait for them to get an order ready for me. wasn't offered a discount, apology...nothing! needless to say, i won't be back

Charli D

Georgetown cupcake has the absolute best cupcakes I’ve ever had. They are decadent, not too sweet, and the frosting is incredible. Also their coffee and tea is excellent. There was a pretty significant line but it didn’t take too long and was 100% worth the wait. I highly recommend going here if you are in the area.

Mahari Grant

All the stories you've seen amd heard about them are absolutely founded in truth. Cupcakes are definitely worth the wait (line can wrap around the corner of the block some days)

Drago Tomianovic

Not worth the line Go to Baked and Wired for better cupcakes and better coffee

Sandra V

Great place to go with family and friends, chatting away as you wait for your turn to pick a cupcake. I picked Cherry Cheesecake!!! My jaw dropped when I tasted the goodness. It actually has the Graham cracker bottom with a cheesecake fruit filling. Oh my!!

Mika Tho

DO BETTER GEORGETOWN: We’ve all seen you D C Cupcakes show; it’s why people pay $20 to park or walk over a mile just to go to your shop. Tourists especially are coming to your storefront for the experience, and your staff is NOT delivering. I work in Georgetown and often pop over to grab a cupcake on my lunch break. Lately, the 20+ teenage/early 20’s employees have had the worst attitudes. You can see them visibly mad at customers who have a long order, and the person who took my order was ON HIS PHONE while I was ordering. I haven’t felt as angry at customer service as this in a LONG time. Georgetown Cupcake is supposed to be a happy place to try the hyped up cupcakes, snap-a pic, and just enjoy the quick little treat, but the staff’s bad attitude annoys the hell out of me. Do better.

Zaki Hashmi

Drove all the way there 30 minutes, stood in line for another 15 minutes just for the women to tell me there is no red velvet cupcakes left. How hard is it to keep the most popular flavor in stock??? This happens so much that i have stopped going.

Lara Yotti

These cupcakes are amazing!!! Well worth the wait eve though I have to say it went very fast! The women working there are fast, efficient, nice and keep the line going! ♥️♥️

adriene liggins

Order them every February!!!! My favorite flavors are in February, red velvet cheesecake, and strawberry cheesecake. I prefer to just order them because I don't like waiting in the long line and trying to find a park, very busy out there.

Sonya Xiaoyu Hu

Georgetown Cupcake is definitely good and you can never really go wrong with a cupcake from here, but it really doesn't live up to all the hype surrounding it. The line is always incredibly long at literally every time of the day, so you'll have to be prepared to wait a while. They're also definitely pretty pricey for their size and the ratio of cake to frosting is off. The frosting is too sweet and there's just too much of it. However, all that said, it's still a cupcake and it's still pretty damn good. If you're in the Georgetown neighborhood, you really have to try it out at least once. They also give out free cupcakes if you go to their Facebook page and then ask for their flavor of the day, which is always a huge plus.

Ashley Mccrady

Great place, first time here! Yummy cupcakes!! Came to Georgetown for the day and had to stop for some cupcakes!

Jacqueline Simpson

I’m not big on sweets but tried it for the sake of its popularity and man they are finger licking good.

Holly Chase

Arrived shortly before 9:00 p.m. and there was a long line. The efficient and friendly staff moved the line along pretty quickly. The cupcakes are delicious and so worth the wait!

Cristina Giraldo

I am not big fan of sweets but I love this cupcakes especially the velvet one. It is the best.

Madi Johnson

I know they were part of a reality TV show, and that must be a contributing factor as to why these are way over hyped. First off, these joints are 3.50 each. When I watched the show a while a go they definitely looked bigger, but now the cupcakes are very small (arguably a mini) I had the lavender and earl grey cupcake. The cake itself was moist, but just tasted like white cake, I couldn't taste the lavender or the earl grey. The frosting kinda tasted like earl grey. Overall it was not that fulfilling of a cupcake, and most certi not worth 3.50. My suggestion is to patronize cupcake places that use real ingredients and give you value for your dollar.

Nicole Bishop

Let me just say that I can sit here and eat an entire half dozen of these cupcakes by myself. They are so good and worth the $20 for 6 of them. The line is definitely crazy but it moves quick.

Triumph Investment Group

The cup cakes are delish. There was a line but it moved very quickly.

Clare Mason

I'm my opinion, their cupcakes are incredibly overrated. They taste like muffins rather than sweet, sugary cupcakes.

Elizabeth Amoretti Nunez

It’s worthy to be more than a half an hour in a queue to get a gluten free strawberry lava fudge cupcake

Syed Taha Aljunied

A nostalgic place for someone who has watched their TV show when I was a kid. The cupcake was a tad bit expensive but it was great and there was a wide variety of cupcakes to choose from!

Natalie Whitaker

This place had AMAZING service! There was a long line but we were in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. And the cupcakes are worth it! They are the best cupcakes I ever had!

지다인

THE BEST cupcakes i’ve ever had. The staff was very friendly. There was a line when i was there, but it did not take long at all. I would definetely visit this place again when i go to Washington DC

Bill Harker

Tourist trap, overpriced cupcakes they don’t taste any better than the kind you find in the grocery store. People that actually go here and wait in line for their cupcakes are insane!

Madison

I’ve only had the cupcakes from here, so I can’t vouch for the coffee or other menu items. But the cupcakes are honestly just okay. They’re not bad; if you brought them to a party or something, I think the guests would be satisfied. But they’re small, really overpriced, and (in my opinion), definitely not worthy of the hype. I’d recommend Baked and Wired instead. They have bigger cupcakes and better icing and flavors for the same price. Maybe go to Georgetown Cupcake once if you live in DC to say you’ve done it. But if you’re visiting and only have time for one, try a different cupcake shop in Georgetown.

Paul Tolar

Delicious and beautiful fresh baked cupcakes in a large variety of flavors. They offer daily and monthly special flavors in addition to those available on a daily basis. Small shop but well organized and spotless with friendly and efficient staff. Be prepared to wait in a line that forms outside (but moves quickly). Finding parking can be tricky.

Mark Lillis

Pretty efficient but there was a line. Took about 5 minutes to get thru. Not much seating so expect to take them to go. There were lots of flavors. Were they beautiful? YES. Were they the best ever? NO. They are a little small and a bit dry. Yummy but not killer.

Reggie Karikottu

Wife and I tried this place during our last trip to D.C. a few years ago. Let me tell you I still can't stop thinking about how awesome these cupcakes were!!! Hands down my favorite cupcake place in the entire USA!!! Crave Cupcakes and Sprinkles Cupcakes can't even come close!!! If you're in the D.C. area, you MUST TRY this place!! Highly, highly recommend.

George M. Wolfe

Fruit flavored items don't have much fruit flavor. Nice appearance but meh on taste.

Delivered to Lexington Ky and I am SO pleased! So fresh, a moist yet dense chocolate cake with a thick, creamy chocolate ganache frosting. To die for

Great cupcakes, and yes the red velvet is still a must! After all the years that have gone by since their reality TV show, this shop still demands a lineup outside. Depending on the time of day, expect the lineup to be quite long. Glad to see a business still so popular long after their TV show has ended. Well done.

Best cupcakes around but you're going to have to wait in line for a while unless you order ahead of time

Ed Rosario

This is one of my daughter's favorite places in Georgetown.. It is not too big and the lines are usually long. Other that than be prepare to enjoy all the flavors and options offered.

As fans of the show DC cupcakes, it was only but logical for us to try at least a cupcake. The cupcake was moist although a bit too sweet.

Easy to see right off of M Street servicing North West and the adjoining areas of Washington DC. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Clean facilities. Public Restroom. Nice staff. Credit cards accepted. We will definitely be going back.

I was not as impressed. My wife was talking about this place for a while and I was expecting more. Also parking around there sucks. Being from the south and living somewhat in the country I am used to parking my car in open spaces. I paid $6 to park in a parking lot and I tell ya two cars can’t be next to each other especially while turning. Cup cake tasted decent. Service was average not impressive.

Gourmet cupcakes, well deserving of their high price tag. Our favorites: "Strawberry Cheesecake" (February), "Caramel Apple" (September/November), and "Pumpkin Cheesecake" (October/November). Georgetown Cupcake is perfect for a special occasion or to visit while traveling through Georgetown.

elisabeth klorek

So disappointed. No summer flavours except one lemon. Too sweet ; too buttery. Think it's time to evolve. A place for tourists.

Lee Fritz

Staff was great. I just personally thought it was a good cupcake, nothing really special. I had the chocolate birthday cake.

Cynthia Blake

Probably the best cupcake selling place . Georgetown Cupcake was highly recommended by a friend. Stopped in after dinner and was pleasantly surprised to find a huge selection of amazing desserts. I have tried three of their items and they were exceptionally good and delicious. The perfect amount of sweetness.

mona akhlaghi

There is nothing special about their cupcakes. There are so many better options in Georgetown to get fresh cupcakes and pastry. Long line. There was fly in the backseat. Frosting taste like you bought the cheapest cupcakes from the grocery store. Not worth the trip.

Faria Zahura

Their cupcake is undoubtedly one of the best cupcakes ever. It is so soft and delicious. There is usually a long line outside the store. It is not that big inside to seat and eat because there is a lot of people. We had chocolate mint fudge and salted caramel cupcakes. Both were good, however, I felt that the frosting is too sweet for me.

Maria Loera

These cupcakes are so good. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Georgetown. There is typically a long line, but it moves fast. Fun fact: the cheesecake cupcake has a delicious graham cracker crust at the bottom.

Andy Shizak

Absolutely loved it! Parking is terrible, but not their problem.

Adam Bragg

What can I say ! The cupcakes here are amazing ! They taste amazing ! Every time I come the cupcakes are always fresh and just delicious! Definitely recommend!!!

Great tasting icing, good tasting cake but could be more moist for the price you pay for these cupcakes. Selection is also quite limited In store. Good coffee selection, but space is limited. Great place to pass by after an afternoon walk and dinner in Georgetown. I recommend made to order cupcakes as selection is much better and cake is usually better as well.

allison nielsen

These are good cupcakes. While they don't take the crown for the best cupcakes in DC, Georgetown Cupcake is probably the best known for being the location of a very popular TV show on TLC. That's where I heard of this place! The flavors are pretty standard here. I really like their red velvet cupcakes. The best-kept secret about Georgetown Cupcake is that if you view their cupcake cam/follow them on Twitter, you can see what their "flavor of the day" is and that's a cupcake you can walk in and ask for and it's FREE!

Thomas Bland

So many options of cupcakes. The cupcakes themselves were delicious. And of course lots of variety. I would say that the staff could have been a little bit friendlier. I know it was busy, but we didn't receive very many smiles.

Ryan Hasty

The best cupcakes we've had! These were received via mail order and they were excellent and enjoyed by all!

Haleema

Here is my completely honest review. I was expecting this place to have the BEST cupcakes but I was underwhelmed. I stood in line for a while only to have pretty decent cupcakes. Only two of the five cupcakes I had were good and just that. Good. I was let down. The frosting was okay. The taste of most of the cupcakes were not rich and flavorful. Totally not worth it to stand in line for so long but if you want to try it out, be my guest! There's a another great cupcake shop just a few streets down called Baked and Wired! Definitely try that! So worth it.

Octavia Joseph

Delicious, seating inside is very limited and a bit of a wait but worth it!!

Ashley Becker

absolutely amazing. standing in line for over an hour sucked but in the end it was worth it. the store is gorgeous and the cupcakes were so delicious. each employee was so pleasant especially dealing with so many crazy cupcake fans.

C W

Over rated and not sure a two star is justified. The cake was dry and it really lacks flavor. After having Sprinkles cupcakes in Atlanta, Georgetown cupcakes is a one star in comparison. I carried the cupcakes back on the plane and they were amazing even the next day. Definitely not the case with Georgetown cupcakes.

Ronald De Leon

Cupcakes are the best and offer a variety of tasty flavors. My wife loves the Valentine’s Day dozen that came in a nice heart shaped box with personal note. And we loved sampling all the flavors together.

Laura King

No recycle for the bajillions of cardboard boxes?! line up out the door, no where to sit aside from three small tables... IMO there are places in the city with bigger and better cakes.

Toni Thompson

I could have enjoyed this more if I didn't have to stand in line outside in the cold.

Matthew Ridgeway

Amazing cupcakes. Go midday if possible to avoid lines around the block.

Sara Boyer

I hate cupcakes because they are usually dry and too much frosting but these cupcakes are so amazingly delicious and they even had a gluten free option for my fiance! These cupcakes are definitely worth the wait and price!

Nosferatu Dracula

Steep prices, slow service, less than helpful staff. 3.50 per cupcake is pretty steep. Icing isnt smooth, has the consistency of granulated sugar. The girl running the register today was anything but kind, helpful, or happy to be there. It took about 8 minutes to get the cupcakes after ordering (only ordered two). The chocolate cake tastes super good. I wouldn't go again, not worth the time/cost.

Nikki Schiefer

Lived up to the hype! Really yummy! Loved the variety of flavors and that they even changed gloves to accommodate for one of our allergies.

KillerPenguin

The worst cupcakes I have ever had! No flavor or personality to them, they just taste like a machine made them. Will never recommend to anyone. Worst experience I have ever had. The wait is not worth it.

David Abercrombie

The cupcakes are delicious, the shop is very small, the service is good, but wait outside is at least 10-20 minutes.

Gilman Cuda

Yummy cupcakes and you can always get one free from their Twitter page which shows a secret code word of the day to get the free daily flavor.

So Ended up the day exploring Georgetown - which is beautiful - and we ended up standing in line somewhere - The line was long and I had 0% expectations..Its a Cupcake store right?? - never heard of this place before - BUT that ALL changed when I realized the cupcake I was eating was made in HEAVEN and GOD himself came down for that delivery - SO GOOD/SO DELICIOUS/SO WORTH THE WAIT. I had 3 cupcakes (Red Velvet/Cherry Blossom/ Key Lime) - I literary do not know what happened around me whilst eating (well lets be honest - I was DEVOURING them) - magical :) loved it.

Sean Richards

Very much a bucket list item! Fantastic flavors and creativity. It's definitely worth a little bit of a wait. Use Google to determine the busy vs not busy times and plan accordingly. It could mean a 10min wait vs a 1hr + wait. Really cool spot and easy walking distance to everything in Georgetown. Highly recommend.
