Cute place to hang out. Could spend hours just looking around. Interesting and rare finds.

Marcie Hoenes

Wonderful bakery. We had bagel sandwiches, smoked salmon and smoked trout. They also sell and array of coffee drinks. The staff is very friendly. Seating outside on the porch and inside among shelves of used books for sale. Book store is in two houses, with a large assortment of used books. Definitely worth stopping at.

The employees were nice, and the atmosphere was very chill. The coffee was meh, but it was warm, and coffee flavored. The grilled cheese was served on amazing bread, and the bagels were definitely something special. A cool place to stop in and grab a bite!

A gem! Great coffee and pastries, set amongst a cosy bookshop. Very conveniently located next to the gas station so I could just pop in while we filled up, although this is definitely the kind of place you should linger.

Cedar Farwell

Sip the Vermonter (latte with a maple syrup finish) and read one of the great 2nd hand books off the shelf (I personally love "yup, nope, and other Vermont dialogues") while you wait for your breakfast sandwich to be cooked from scratch. Sandy's is great for a quick coffee and snack, but if you have the time it's well worth hanging out and enjoying the pace of this little bookstore.

Steve G

Good coffee and lunch place.

Joe Beaird

Great spot for a meal or snack in a cozy, historic house on the main road in Rochester. Tasty soups, fresh breads and baked goods. Grilled cheese and other sandwiches. Also an extensive bookstore.

We were hiking at Robert Frost trails and Texas Fall and needed a meal. Unfortunately, we hit this place 5 mins before closing but made it to having cofee and a quick bite. The place is a book store and cafe combined and pretty much had the magic from a Harry Potter set, with rooms named after Lord of the Rings like "Middle Earth." The staff, I believe she was the owner, was great help suggesting places to eat and one recommendation was for Stony Brook restaurant up the street. It was a flawless recommendation and showed that she was knowledgeable in high quality food. If you are taking advantage of one of the many beautiful trails in this area stop by this bakery and enjoy the local hospitality.

If you're here, you must stop. Coffee, excellent sandwiches, bookshop x 2. Owners are wonderful, joyous people, smiling and engaging. Spent a lovely hour in here reading a chapter, browsing cool cards and little gifts, and enjoying a sandwich and coffee. Great stop to hop off the bike for a moment.

A warm welcome on a chilly, damp day. Excellent bread encompassed my husband's BLT while a bun shiny with egg wash held a made there from scratch veggie burger. A light and refreshing potato salad made for an excellent lunch surrounded by books of all sorts.

Fantastic, very loving place. The food is very good. And books......i bought there more books (in one place) than in any other place. You watch commercials where they use the "Game Changer". If you want to experience real GAME CHANGER, that what Sandy's place is. Just come. Spend your money here, you will never regret it. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. P.s. if you lucky enough you may have a chance to meet all beautiful girls coming here and ofcourse me. Good luck Ziggy

Always like to stop here on the way from Middlebury to I-89. The house has quirky charm, the food is good & I usually find a book or greeting card I like.

Grayson Eckroth

Got a dozen bagels, a third are soggy with a weird membrane like texture - imagine pruned hands... What the? Some bagels considerably smaller than others, looking at two of the same variety and one is almost literally half the size of the other. And I paid a premium price for these? Ridiculous, won't waste my money here again.

Jacob McGinnis

Love it.

Great little place to relax with a book and have fresh snacks and drinks. There's locally made creams and soaps. Nestled in a small Vermont community. Was not overcrowded on a Saturday afternoon on our travels to northern Vermont.

Colin Whitehouse

Great local bookstore with a bakery with menu items for breakfast and lunch as well as a changing option of breads and sweets. Below is the schedule for their wonderful breads. Mondays - Sourdough Ciabatta Tuesdays - A hearty whole grain baker's choice Wednesdays - Rochester Rye Thursday - A sweeter choice..like Honey Oat Fridays - Traditional Challah Braids Saturdays/Sundays - Sourdough Baguettes/Batards Everyday - Classic country white sandwich bread - large loafs and rolls.

Jack Gandhi

This is one my favorite book store and small bakery. I always stop here when I am near by.

Hands down, Sandy's is the heart and soul of Rochester. Hang out at the big round table in the "dining room" and you'll eventually see pretty much everyone who lives near Rochester. The staff is amazingly sweet and the food is superb. I dare you to leave without something delectable in your hand. Great bookstore too. This isn't just any bookstore...no Barnes & Noble...it's different. It's interesting. Easy place to loose track of time and enjoy a coffee, a smoked trout bagel sandwich and take in a good book.

Tyler Curtain

Good food, good books.

Michele Kellogg

Fabulous!!! Both the bookstore and the deli (mixed together). We always stop when we go through Rochester. Baked goods superb, food item gourmet and better and the value system (local, recycle, etc.) spot on.

Sandy's Books and Bakery IS THE BOMB! You can't find a more comfortable, chill place to have a lovely sandwich and a coffee than Sandy's. Grab a good book and enjoy the vibe. Excellent food and refreshments. Outdoor seating in the warmer months. Don't miss the trout sandwich on a salt & pepper bagel.

Kelley Schepers

What a sweet little bookshop cafe! Great place to relax, awesome gift place. Quirky, clean, comfortable.

Jas Wheeler

Anudeep Burugula

Amazing place. Perfect ambience lots of books. Awesome food.

Keith Fuchs

Unfortunately we were sold a very stale baked good. The other baked good we purchased was tasty though. It's not good business practice to sell people baked goods that are spoiled.
