REVIEWS OF Rainbow Sweets IN Vermont

We love visiting rainbow sweets. I have been coming here for over 10 years when passing through the area. You cannot go wrong with anything you choose. In fact, leaving there without ordering a Johnny Depp is the only thing you could do wrong. Paired with an entertaining visit and conversation with the owner, your parting thoughts leaving the cafe will be, "when will we be in Marshfield next?"

This marvelous little gem is worth the detour off of 91 North or South. A European touch of old world class and charm. I had the amazing empanada with Greek salad. Did I mention the pastries? My third visit. I am going back for a Lemon Poppy Seed cake to share with friends. Try anything.....you really can't miss.

George Dunham

Great owner, Groucho has nothing on him! Superb food and atmosphere. He is a pastry artist. We will drive out of our way to patronize this place. Highly recommend it.

Metvyn Eperstein

Excellent appetizers. I had the empanada with a Greek salad. The empanada was about 6" by 3" with a wonderful flaky crust. The Greek salad was excellent with plenty of olives. It was plenty enough for a meal. What is jokingly addressed as the main course is the wonderful selection of cakes tarts and other pastries that just melt in your mouth.

Fantastic place! Whenever I'm in the Marshfield area I make sure to go out of my way so I end up at Rainbow Sweets. Bill is an absolute delight and makes your visit worth while even before you taste one of his wonderful confections. As the one negative reviewer pointed out, it would be nice to have prices listed so you know what you're getting into. I can't wait until the place re-opens later this month :D

Rainbow sweets is every dessert lovers dream. We went in originally for the Johnny Depp of desserts, which was beyond dreamy, and found so many more goodies. From German decadence to a simple but addictive chocolate whipped cream this store has it all topped off with it's crown Jewel, Bill. Watching him work was akin to magic and his Willy Wonka-esque charm had us running back for more on our short vacation in Vermont. We live in Mass but we'll be back for more. ❤️

The owner is a lot of fun, had us laughing most of the way through. Really enjoyed the savory lunch offerings accompanied by an excellent salad. Of the pastries the plum tart was my favorite, it was delicious. Cheesecake and chocolate whipped cream cake were excellent as well. Highly recommend stopping not just for the sweets but for lunch with dessert to follow

Rose OConnor

Great sweets and savories, and the owner is a wonderful man who entertains you while you enjoy his baked treats. If you want delicious goodies this is the place to go.

Katharine Chase

Must stop here. The olives alone are worth the trip and owners a delight.

Marshfield is not the kind of place you would expect to encounter world-class baked goods and savory pastries. The food here could compete with the best in France. This was an absolutely remarkable and unexpected find during an impulsive stop on a long road trip. For foodies, Rainbow Sweets would be worth making a far off destination all of its own.

Always stop here for treats, your mouth will thank you.

Good Pastry, but not worth the money. $53 with tip for Baklava, Johnny Depps (puff pasty with carmelized suger on top), a small apple, cheese, and bread plate, a small cider, and a small Pepsi. No selection for food, just whatever the owner/chef wanted to serve. He was extremely friendly, and entertaining to watch and listen to, but I will not be back due to the portion sizes and their prices. Probably best to shop here for the deserts. Went to a great pizza place in Barre afterwards to get food for a quarter of what was spent here, as me and my friends, who also spent ~$40 on the lunch options, were still hungry after eating.

Jackie Scribner

The food is quite good. The owner drives too fast on the road my grandchildren live on.

Richard Strean

a gem for cakes and pastry

This place is a true gem! We had a great dinner with dessert here. Bill is a fun and pleasant guy and the food was excellent. Don't drive past this place. Stop by if only for a snack, even if you aren't hungry!

The food is delicious but the best part is the accomplished, well-traveled owner-chef. He greeted my friends visiting from France with curiosity, hospitality and a genuine knowledge of French pastry.

Stunning. You don't expect to find this quality of pastry and food unless you are in a good sized city. To find it in Marshfield, VT is completely unexpected. Plan a trip to this place and soon!

Michael Trupin

It's the place to go. Great desserts, great food, great company.

Marilyn Stout

Many years--maybe 40! Always great!

Molly Maroney

Small 6 table cafe with outstanding pastries and desserts as well as delicious, home cooked foods. Everything baked, nothing fried or anything like that. Had delicious spanakopita and baklava. The owner is incredible, personable, and quirky. A must visit hole in the wall.

Laura Bowe

The owner was a hoot!!

Rebecca Johnson

Rainbow Sweets and it's proprietor, chef and host with the most, Bill are wonderful. This is one of those places you don't know about unless someone tells you it's there, and then you stop by every time you're in the area... sometimes more than once. Take in the scenery on the walls and enjoy an Empanada and a pastry. If you're too full, you can take it to go.

Yacine Ould

Charming setting, friendly owner, good food, top experience

Although the food was excellent, I had no idea what the price was going to be. It ended up being 15 dollars for 2 breakfast pastries.

James Genega

Stephanie Newland

delicious treats

Everything was lovely. It was mere serendipity that we came across this little pastry shop on a Saturday morning. From the homey feeling, the freshness of the pastries being made as we sat by, the simplicity yet richness of the decor, the owners know their craft perfectly, are extremely attentive (not to forget hilarious) and all the food is done to perfection. We got the stuffed brioche, the puff pastry, the profiterole puffs and hot chocolate. It seems a lot but they were all surprisingly light yet filling.
