If I could give it zero stars I would. My family lives in the Islands and we like to come here when family comes into town to get lunch. The staff has become rude and very unhelpful. We have a food allergy in the family and they were extremely unaccommodating. My guess is they do not have proper food safe training in dealing with food allergies as well as general customer service training. They have lost our business. Places that are great to eat and explore are Sebs in South Hero, Kims snack bar in Grand Isle, North Hero House and many other very nice and helpful mom and pop stores. Don't spend your money here.

Pleasant Welcome On a short road trip out of Burlington, we stopped by Hero's Welcome. They do welcome Veterans. They honor veterans. Great "just-in-time-for-lunch" stop on the Grand Isles. Must stop by and grab lunch or snack. Nice local Vermont place. So nice.

In North Hero where else would you go? General store has just about everything, tools, beer, wine, and there's a deli counter that makes good sandwiches. A great stop for cyclists, and they rent equipment for the lake such as canoes.

This is a store you just have to stop and go in if you are near by. They have everything. You will find things used years ago that you had forgotten about. You could spend hours there. While you are there have lunch their food is great.Its like going into a smaller version of the old country store but better. Up stairs is a whole different place. They appear to have a little bit of everything. It's a gift shop / hardware store / kitchen store / truck stop/ deli. I had the Laker Sandwich, which was quite good: roast beef and turkey on a home-baked roll. $9 with tax. Comes with tortilla chips. There's a place across the highway where you can sit and watch the goings on at the marina. Very scenic.

This is a fantastic place to stop in and grab lunch. There is a dock to pull up in a boat on, there is picnic seating, and ample parking should you arrive by car or motorcycle. There is gas here, as well as a nice country store with lots of odds and ends. There are also restroom facilities. I cannot recommend this spot enough, one of my favorite places to drop in when boating or motorcycling.

Lovely little spot to stop! General store with food, made-to-order sandwiches, any drink you could want cold from the fridges, and they have a nice little general store with kitchen goods and things in the back. Grab a sandwich and sit across by the water to eat it, there is a little picnic area with tables and chairs.

Adorable country general store with amazing views of the lake. Hero's Welcome is pretty much exactly what I pictured when I imagined with the Champlain Islands would be like, and it didn't disappoint. The main building has a deli/cafe and a lot of fun items to browse through. A word of caution - it's packed tight in there, so you may want to leave your stroller in the car if possible. The back building has all sorts of water/sport/fishing related items, including live bait. The young clerk working there was kind enough to show us everything we needed to fish from our dock, and to show us how to get out rod set up. Friendly staff, great selection, and beautiful views!

The sandwiches made here are delicious. The staff is always friendly and helpful. During the summer, sitting out in the patio and enjoying the lake it a great way to enjoy your lunch. There is also a nice selection of candies to choose from. And an ice cream parlor too. They also have a great selection of trinkets, some of which can be eclectic.

A gem of a roadside stop in Vermont. The wee post office next door is the definition of charming and the lake views are crazy good. Sandwiches have good names and are very filling. A tiny piece of old small town Americana that shouldn’t be missed. (The only negative: I’m not the biggest fan of PortaPotties though, so hopefully on next visits the indoor washroom will be back up and running.)

We stopped for icecream. The atmosphere and the dock week picturesque. This is not a good place if you are looking for solely icecream. The portions were tiny. 2 scoops was literally what fit into the confines of the round portion of the scooper. The cost was exhortation and the variety was minimal. We were charged the incorrect amount to boot. Go to South Hero.

We have been going here for many years. The deli offers excellent sandwiches on home-baked rolls. There are local and Vermont items that can be purchased, as well as toys, puzzles, books, maps, clothing, kitchen items, and limited food items. The wine selection is fairly broad, and beer can be bought. There is a picnic area on Lake Champlain across the street near a dock with gas for boats.There are portapotties outside on the left of the front door. Parking is around back.

A lovely old-time Vermont Country Store complete with just about everything you need, or think you might need. On the other hand, if they don't have it you probably don't need it. Inside where many of the food stuff available, including prepared sandwiches, wine, a candy bar, and easy groceries. Also plenty of household Wares and clothing. In additional buildings you could purchase items like a kayaks and canoes. Everyone was very helpful, and the friendly folks working seemed to be well staffed. Neat benches outfront allow you to sit and rest while supporting your political party of choice!

This cute general store has the most diverse inventory of almost any store that I have been in - they even had about twenty different types of dental tools that a dentist might use. In addition to almost everything there is a nice selection of coffees and fresh bakery goods. The only negative is that the restrooms are actually port-o-lets located outside. This was problematic because it was raining the day I was there!
